There are soooooo many #iserve events today in San Francisco, starting later this morning. Food services at Open Hand, clothing drives at the Zen Center, community volunteer training in the Castro, blood drives, garden projects, etc, etc, etc. This is really wonderful.

Good Morning TOD, Have a wonderful day and an even better weekend. I’m going to ask a special favor of each of you and Ms. Chips forgive me if I’m overstepping my bounds.
I’ll be here doing what I can in support of President Obama and I promise to carry everyone of you that cannot make it to DC in spirit with me when I am out and about this weekend. I am extremely excited to be hosting the Meet-up on Sunday even though I got that highly coveted (at the last minute) invite to the OFA Legacy Conference for the same day as the meetup (Sunday). We TODers have plans to meet, eat, hug, chat and then there maybe a surprise guest (crossing my fingers), commemorative buttons are a plenty and I was hooked up with tickets to the Inauguration to give away so somebody is going to get a little better view of the Ceremony . Now although I wish I could magically be at both places at once I understand that that in life we sometimes have to sacrifice one great thing for another great thing. So with you all understanding that, here is the favor I’ll be asking of you….
For just Sunday and Monday while our President is taking his official oath and his public oath of office can we leave the negative commentary of those pesky pundits and cable shows at the door and not bring it here for just those two days? I don’t normally ask such a task and I’ve learned to accept that people have the right to vent, comment and discuss the good and the bad. Trust me that was a big step for me but this weekend is a celebration. It’s the reward of all the hard work that we put forth through that grueling campaign and we WON!!!. So to Hell with the pundits this weekend. Let them talk to the hand! Let’s just celebrate the moment and then on Tuesday we can go back to our regular scheduled program .

We don’t have a national day of service here, but President Obama has influenced me to start my own every year at this time to join in! Today, I will be baking some afternoon tea cookies/slices to take down to my nearest rest home and spend a few hours there to just lend an ear and conversation to the elderly. President Obama touches our hearts, makes us better people. Not only does he encourage his American people to give service to the community, he’s also spreading that to the world! Thank you <3

I am very mad at myself for my body betraying me by getting severely sick.
I have been looking foward to once-gain being in DC for PBO’s innaguration – have had my week off approved for this historical day (for events before during & immediately after) a few months ago.
Of course, during the past few days I have been rudely reminded that I am not in control of my life. Why, Why did I have to fall sick now of all days.
Attempts to convince pals to let me come although I can hardly walk have been met with a “Hell No” !!

like the latest bill introduced in the PA State House that would gerrymanded the electoral college…that would change how electoral votes are awarded..not to mention that onerous Voter ID law..

It just not ONLY in PA. It is in OH, WI, MI and other state that is currently escaping my thought. If the TBGOPers had managed to have changed those states in 2012……the lying Bishop would have been Gerrymandered in…….This where I have issues with Dems. That is why I had issues with the selection of the former gov of VA as the DNC chair in 2009 and with DWS as the current Chair…..they don’t pay attention to these matters fast enough to educate activists in those states. DNC truly needs one whose sole job is to focus on recruiting and electing Dems. I have written and called many times since 2009 and nothing changes on this front.

Chips, I am on my way to stand in for ALL of my TOD family who could not be here and this grateful feeling over powered me when I think about all the sacrifices of those here and all over that made this day possible. The bus is crowded, every seat taken. I started out this morning standing at the wrong bus company and people were paying in cash even asking people to by there seats for twice the amount originally paid for because they could not get tickets leaving out of NYC.
I especially would like to thank you for the picture you posted earlier about the crowds who stood in line for hours.
All of the celebrity, rich and famous do not excite me at all. They can afford to buy and look good at the same time. The ones who got up very very early to vote because they were afraid that their vote would not count are the ones my heart ache for right now. The outcast, forgotten, left behind, down trodden, unemployed, down to last milk and cereal for hungry mouths to feed.
I salute you. You are somebody. Your vote did count.
