        January 20, 2013 at 1:14 pm

TY, Jackie, I did. Found it on ABC (blechh) just as they started, had to listen to them yak for a minute or two. But I watched, cried, rejoiced, then turned it OFF! Because no one is going to tell me how I think and feel, and NO ONE is going to decide for me what President Barack Hussein Obama is planning for his 2nd term! Hugs all around TOD today, I wish KK hadn’t posted that list of household chores…… But I’m glad she did (sort of!). Will be in and out!

        • January 20, 2013 at 1:29 pm

Me too. I watched it on C-span then shut it off. No commentary. I am sick, sick, sick of pundits and uninformed people. I will not let anyone or anything take away my joy of the President’s re-election.

And as I was vacuuming, I thought how insulting to my/our intelligence some of these paid to spout whatever they are told to spout! I do realize there is some benefit to be aware of what people who watch mainstream are exposed to, but I have so little energy to squander listening, it is such a psychic and psychological drain.

She is a Contributor…..the….oops, that lucrative punditry post…..with HUGE salary….that is all. Then a Black pundit, GOPer, trashing pres Obama whenever they want another Bushie that is NOT Caucasian. That is all. CBS also hired another Black lady, the soon to be wife of George Lucas or whatever.

I must say the Obama girls are very lovely and fashionable like their mom. The Biden grand daughters are also very lovely young ladies/girls and fashionable too. It’s amazing to me that so many politicians have girls than boys. Biden’s only grandson is so cute.

      January 20, 2013 at 1:34 pm

Yes. People are wearing their belts this way. It depends on the style of the belt. That’s the beauty of current fashion; taking an everyday piece and finding quirky ways to edge it up. Just like with colored tights, patterned tights, full skirts and colored tights, mixing prints and patterns, boho chic, stackable bangles, etc. It’s all very exciting.

And the scarves … all the ways you can wear scarves now – thick ones, thin ones, long, short – loosely thrown around the neck or looped through itself for a polished look. (I too remember belts being worn that way).

Heads up TOD New Yorkers. The Daily News has an 8 page full color section on POTUS called From Hope to Glory written by….wait for it….Richard Wolffe. It is wonderful so I hope lots of us get to see it.

Also terrific but in a totally humorous way is the LOL column in the NYTimes this morning by Ross Douthat. Douthat is a RW dope but his satire of what the 2nd Inaugural speech PBO will be, is so funny and on the mark that it makes me think the MSM/GOPTP are starting to get the true dimensions of the defeat we have handed them and their crap.

His piece is called “A Sneaky Peek at O’s speech.” One good line is “The fact is I’ve been your dream president; You’ve just spent 4 years coming up with reasons not to notice.” Then he skewers The Press and the Professional Left which he says is repeating himself. He thanks the RW idiots and asks the centrist wise men: How do you like me now…

    very refreshing and positive

It is their attempt to deflate our enthusiam…to deflect from out understanding that WE are the Change we Seek…and that thru Organinzing for Action…the people will have an organized VOICE at the table….

    • January 20, 2013 at 2:52 pm

Well, Bill, what they all know is that we and President Obama will be working together until the next President is sworn in and that scares the poop out of them.

In fact, this President will become ever more powerful as his 2nd term progresses, particularly as the reality becomes obvious to even the most lame among the newstainers & pundidiots, that he will bring his mighty organization and personal skills to the support of the next D President and numerous D members of the Senate and House.

This is a loooooooong march to more justice for all, not a sprint :)

Bill Moyers: We Must Fix the Senate

It’s time to reform the filibuster — one of the biggest obstacles to the public interest in our government.

…They want to take the filibuster, which can now be easily and quietly activated, and restore its original, public use (Think Mr. Smith or Mr. Sanders). Time is not on their side, however. Unless the Senate reforms the filibuster at the beginning of the new 113th Congress — that’s as soon as next Tuesday, January 22 — the minority wrecking crew remains in charge for the next two years.

Yes Indeed, prettyfoot! Rep. John Lewis is all about truth and reality and not about envy/jealousy. Charles Rangel is one of those so called Black leaders who wanted so much for Hillary Clinton to be President because they expected to be rewarded through patronage. They are still angry that the majority of folks in the AA communities did not buy into their schemes and enthusiastically supported President Obama.

The swearing in happened while I was at church, so watched the video, and have looked at the pictures. That picture of the family in the blue room is extremely moving. Someone above mentioned the “arc of history”, and yes, that is what I thought of also. Sometimes we do get it right. We are moving forward…..thinking that slaves built that house, and our First Lady is the great-great granddaughter of slaves, standing with her husband the president and their two daughters, alone with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court…..that would never have happened even fifty years ago. We have indeed lived through wondrous times, painful as they are often. I have no longing for the “good old days.” They were not good except for a rather privileged minority. We are spreading the “good” over a broader spectrum, and that is difficult for many people.
Today we sang Rev. King’s favorite hymn in church, “There is a balm in Gilead.” …..there is a balm in Gilead…..to make the wounded whole.”
Making the wounded whole is the goal of our president, and we have the opportunity to join with him in this endeavor, to bend the arc of history even closer to justice for ALL.
At the end of our service, we all sing a short round together, standing facing the center aisle, and the people on the other side. The song is “What does the Lord require of you, what does the Lord require of you. Justice, kindness, walk humbly with your god.” The words are taken from the book of Micah. The first time we attended this church, and the congregation sang that to each other, I got absolute chills up and down my body. I still get chills when we sing it. Our minister quoted Dr. King several times today, and at the end asked us to “wage a little peace.” as Dr. King asked.
I am so thankful that today Barack Hussein Obama was inaugurated for a SECOND time as president. I have confidence for my grandchildren because of this.

Am sure many of you have or will be receiving this from OFA …

“”I’m Jon Carson, the new executive director of Organizing for Action.

I hope you’re as excited as I am for this new organization, and for what our grassroots movement can accomplish in the next four years.

Thanks so much for saying you’re on board. Now, check out this quick list of ways to get involved with OFA, and pick a way to get started.

Just a little bit about me. I’m a Wisconsin guy, and I grew up on a farm in the western part of the state. In 2007, I joined Barack Obama’s campaign and served as the national field director. After the election, I went to work for the President in the White House, most recently in the Office of Public Engagement.

That brings me to now, when very soon, my family and I will be moving back to Chicago as I start this new role with all of you.

I first joined the President’s campaign because I was inspired by his belief that ordinary people have the power to change our country if we work together to get it done — and that belief will be at the core of this new organization as it unfolds.

And the way we’ll get it done can be summed up in one word: local.

That means each city or region will have its own OFA chapter, and you’ll decide the issues your community cares about most, the work you want to do to make progress on them, and the kind of support you’ll need to get it done.

At a neighborhood and regional level, OFA members will grow their local chapters, bringing in new leaders and helping train a new generation of volunteers and organizers to help fight for the issues at stake.

There’ll be times when we pull together at the national level to get President Obama’s back on passing major legislation, like reducing gun violence or immigration reform. And we’ll all work to help transform Washington from the outside while strengthening our economy and creating jobs.

But for the most part, the direction our work takes will be completely in your hands — with the support of this organization behind you every step of the way.

In the next few weeks and months, I’ll be asking for your input on putting together an OFA plan for 2013, we’ll be holding online briefings about the issues we want to tackle, and we’ll start organizing on those issues as they’re debated in D.C.

But for right now, I just want to say thanks and welcome. There’s a lot to be done, without a doubt — and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of OFA with you.

Pick a way to get involved today:

    http://my.barackobama.com/Get-Started-with-Organizing-for-Action

    I’ll be in touch soon.

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Jon Carson

Just heard that Hillary will testify this week. I knew she would. I’ll be biting my tongue to my R husband who said that he didn’t think she would ever testify. Hahaha When he said that, I calmly said, “I think she will.”. Nothing else was said.

It is hilarious the Benghazi conspiracy theorists think she is going to add new information. Some of them believe she and PBO were watching the incident for six hours live on video and rejected calls for help. Her appearance is nothing but a formality. Wonder what McCain, Miss Lindsey, and the woman senator will say afterwards.

The situation in Benghazi was tragic. Several mistakes were apparent all of which have been identified and addressed. It’s impossible to control everything around the world. The complete assholes McCain and company have made of themselves is sad. It’s good Sec Clinton will meet with Congress so that she can personally tell them what they already know.

The farse that is Congress is troubling. There is so much that needs to get done. But, there is too much time spent trying to embarrass and discredit the other side. It’s time for a come to Jesus moment. They need to stop the bullshit and proceed with the people’s business. I for one am so sick of all the phoney crisis and all the nonsense that is the Congress.

I’m ready for them to suspend the games and get serious about their jobs. It’s a disgrace what they have evolved into.

I adore Cyndi Lauper. She was on CNN and just kept on declaring her love for Pres. Obama over and over again in that distinct NY accent. She was fantastic.
