What a great day to be born. It means at least every 4 years your birthday is a pivotal moment in history! Smart kid you got there, Yardarm! Hope his day is filled with joy!

Yes. People are wearing their belts this way. It depends on the style of the belt. That’s the beauty of current fashion; taking an everyday piece and finding quirky ways to edge it up. Just like with colored tights, patterned tights, full skirts and colored tights, mixing prints and patterns, boho chic, stackable bangles, etc. It’s all very exciting.

fools. Heard someone on Bill Moyers last night that said that we will see the changes that PBO has brought even 50 to 100 years from now. I smiled, knowing this was true.
i think that this their attempt to MINIMIZE what he can and will do….they say that he cannot do it because it won’t make it thru Congress…but look at what he has done…
It is their attempt to deflate our enthusiam…to deflect from out understanding that WE are the Change we Seek…and that thru Organinzing for Action…the people will have an organized VOICE at the table….
Well, Bill, what they all know is that we and President Obama will be working together until the next President is sworn in and that scares the poop out of them.
In fact, this President will become ever more powerful as his 2nd term progresses, particularly as the reality becomes obvious to even the most lame among the newstainers & pundidiots, that he will bring his mighty organization and personal skills to the support of the next D President and numerous D members of the Senate and House.
This is a loooooooong march to more justice for all, not a sprint
I’m really sick of the meme that it’s the president’s fault the R’s won’t work with him. The first 2 to 3 years that’s all he tried to do. It’s all Obama’s fault there is so much partisianship. Everytime I hear this crap I just want to SCREAM……
Serves me right for even watching the Sunday shows. I just like to know what the other side is saying and thinking even thougt it infuriates me.
These are the same folks who didn’t think the PBO would get START ratified and DADT ended in December of 2010, Bill. They’re doing what they do best–sitting on the outside looking in and speculating, They’re sure not getting anything from the horse’s mouth because the president doesn’t trust them, and neither do I.

“Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies responded to a private residence in the city’s South Valley area around 9:15 p.m. Saturday. The bodies of a man, a woman, two girls and a boy were discovered in the home, each riddled with multiple gunshot wounds, reports said.”
did they do this oath today to make sure there’s no screw up by right-wing nutjob john roberts this time? i think roberts did the flub in 2009 on purpose to start the “illegitimate” theme that republicans and the media have been pushing ever since. i remember in 2009 that they re-did the oath AFTER the big inaugural oath. if so, yet another smart move by our president.
Hi, 4morefor44 – Legally required to take the oath on Jan. 20th by noon. It’s in the Constitution. When the 20th falls on a Sunday, the custom is for the public swearing-in to take place on Monday.
Actually, the Constitution (20th Amendment) requires the Oath be taken by noon on the 20th day of January and since 20 January 2013 is a Sunday they took the ‘official’ Oath today to conform to the law. The repeat tomorrow is for everyone to be able to enjoy ceremony in all it’s many and important aspects – most important for some of us will be the vision the President charts in his Inaugural Address for the future of America.
HELLO TOD. Just wanted to get your attention. On my way to the inauguration tomorrow. Last minute decision. My sister lives just outside of DC, she’s out of town, leaving me her condo. Hopefully will be able to see something a mile away from the Capitol , but the thrill is just being there for history. Last time around for PBO, I need to be there for him this special time. Peace !!
It’s time to reform the filibuster — one of the biggest obstacles to the public interest in our government.
…They want to take the filibuster, which can now be easily and quietly activated, and restore its original, public use (Think Mr. Smith or Mr. Sanders). Time is not on their side, however. Unless the Senate reforms the filibuster at the beginning of the new 113th Congress — that’s as soon as next Tuesday, January 22 — the minority wrecking crew remains in charge for the next two years.
Did you see Rep. John Lewis, he was on Alex Witt early and she ask him if he was concern about the lack of diversity in the President’s cabinet? Rep. Lewis said he was not concern, he knows this President, plus give him time to finish. Anyone remember what the crook Charlie Rangel said when ask about the same thing. I won’t ever forget what he said.
Yes Indeed, prettyfoot! Rep. John Lewis is all about truth and reality and not about envy/jealousy. Charles Rangel is one of those so called Black leaders who wanted so much for Hillary Clinton to be President because they expected to be rewarded through patronage. They are still angry that the majority of folks in the AA communities did not buy into their schemes and enthusiastically supported President Obama.
aloha and happy hawaii morning to all the tod ohana!
chips! what a beautiful vision to wake up to! our president has been sworn in, and is officially, entirely, gloriously and truly leading our country and the free world for a second term of office! hallelujah!!
Our darling First Daughters are just soooo growny! Where are the little moppets from the first Inaugural? Waahhhhh! But time brings about change. I know that they will look precious for tomorrow’s festivities.
The swearing in happened while I was at church, so watched the video, and have looked at the pictures. That picture of the family in the blue room is extremely moving. Someone above mentioned the “arc of history”, and yes, that is what I thought of also. Sometimes we do get it right. We are moving forward…..thinking that slaves built that house, and our First Lady is the great-great granddaughter of slaves, standing with her husband the president and their two daughters, alone with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court…..that would never have happened even fifty years ago. We have indeed lived through wondrous times, painful as they are often. I have no longing for the “good old days.” They were not good except for a rather privileged minority. We are spreading the “good” over a broader spectrum, and that is difficult for many people.
Today we sang Rev. King’s favorite hymn in church, “There is a balm in Gilead.” …..there is a balm in Gilead…..to make the wounded whole.”
Making the wounded whole is the goal of our president, and we have the opportunity to join with him in this endeavor, to bend the arc of history even closer to justice for ALL.
At the end of our service, we all sing a short round together, standing facing the center aisle, and the people on the other side. The song is “What does the Lord require of you, what does the Lord require of you. Justice, kindness, walk humbly with your god.” The words are taken from the book of Micah. The first time we attended this church, and the congregation sang that to each other, I got absolute chills up and down my body. I still get chills when we sing it. Our minister quoted Dr. King several times today, and at the end asked us to “wage a little peace.” as Dr. King asked.
I am so thankful that today Barack Hussein Obama was inaugurated for a SECOND time as president. I have confidence for my grandchildren because of this.
Did anyone else see the tweet at the OFA legacy conference from @simoneallegra that “Everybody in the audience is drooling over the thought of getting VoteBuilder back…” Are we really getting VAN back? I loved VAN. I was starting to get almost kind of good at it. Awesome, if true.
I did my first volunteer stint Monday at our local Dem offices. The lady who is organizing the office and volunteers said we will be using vote builder for everything we can use it for.

Am sure many of you have or will be receiving this from OFA …
“”I’m Jon Carson, the new executive director of Organizing for Action.
I hope you’re as excited as I am for this new organization, and for what our grassroots movement can accomplish in the next four years.
Thanks so much for saying you’re on board. Now, check out this quick list of ways to get involved with OFA, and pick a way to get started.
Just a little bit about me. I’m a Wisconsin guy, and I grew up on a farm in the western part of the state. In 2007, I joined Barack Obama’s campaign and served as the national field director. After the election, I went to work for the President in the White House, most recently in the Office of Public Engagement.
That brings me to now, when very soon, my family and I will be moving back to Chicago as I start this new role with all of you.
I first joined the President’s campaign because I was inspired by his belief that ordinary people have the power to change our country if we work together to get it done — and that belief will be at the core of this new organization as it unfolds.
And the way we’ll get it done can be summed up in one word: local.
That means each city or region will have its own OFA chapter, and you’ll decide the issues your community cares about most, the work you want to do to make progress on them, and the kind of support you’ll need to get it done.
At a neighborhood and regional level, OFA members will grow their local chapters, bringing in new leaders and helping train a new generation of volunteers and organizers to help fight for the issues at stake.
There’ll be times when we pull together at the national level to get President Obama’s back on passing major legislation, like reducing gun violence or immigration reform. And we’ll all work to help transform Washington from the outside while strengthening our economy and creating jobs.
But for the most part, the direction our work takes will be completely in your hands — with the support of this organization behind you every step of the way.
In the next few weeks and months, I’ll be asking for your input on putting together an OFA plan for 2013, we’ll be holding online briefings about the issues we want to tackle, and we’ll start organizing on those issues as they’re debated in D.C.
But for right now, I just want to say thanks and welcome. There’s a lot to be done, without a doubt — and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of OFA with you.
Excited to be serving as Exec Dir of Organizing for Action. About to get started at #OFAlegacy conference. Join us at ofa.bo/legacy.— Jon Carson OFA (@JonCarsonOFA) January 20, 2013

Just heard that Hillary will testify this week. I knew she would. I’ll be biting my tongue to my R husband who said that he didn’t think she would ever testify. Hahaha When he said that, I calmly said, “I think she will.”. Nothing else was said.
It is hilarious the Benghazi conspiracy theorists think she is going to add new information. Some of them believe she and PBO were watching the incident for six hours live on video and rejected calls for help. Her appearance is nothing but a formality. Wonder what McCain, Miss Lindsey, and the woman senator will say afterwards.
The situation in Benghazi was tragic. Several mistakes were apparent all of which have been identified and addressed. It’s impossible to control everything around the world. The complete assholes McCain and company have made of themselves is sad. It’s good Sec Clinton will meet with Congress so that she can personally tell them what they already know.
The farse that is Congress is troubling. There is so much that needs to get done. But, there is too much time spent trying to embarrass and discredit the other side. It’s time for a come to Jesus moment. They need to stop the bullshit and proceed with the people’s business. I for one am so sick of all the phoney crisis and all the nonsense that is the Congress.
I’m ready for them to suspend the games and get serious about their jobs. It’s a disgrace what they have evolved into.

This is a loooooooong march to more justice for all, not a sprint
#FORWARD
Marty King III is on with Alex Witt.MSNBC now. Talking about President Obama using his Dad’s bible tomorrow.
Help!!!! LDS & I are at the meeting poit in DC where is eberybody?
Where are you? Meeting place = zoo. Am right outside it’s entrance.

Walked around there since 1pm & nada. Had to leave to meet other friends @ 3pm.
Oh Happy Day! Thank you, Chipsticks, for this image. On the train to DC, passing through Richmond and got wifi signal steady enough to come find TOD. This is so beautiful. Tears of graitutiude, joy, relief, dazzling triumph, etc. Thank you for this and for so much more.
This is the way we all feel here at the TOD family. This is such a time of joy and celebration.
#GunAppreciationDay celebration in New Mexico ….
“Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies responded to a private residence in the city’s South Valley area around 9:15 p.m. Saturday. The bodies of a man, a woman, two girls and a boy were discovered in the home, each riddled with multiple gunshot wounds, reports said.”

I wonder what is going thur President Obama beloved daughters mind. I know for sure they are really proud of him and their mother 1st Lady Michelle
did they do this oath today to make sure there’s no screw up by right-wing nutjob john roberts this time? i think roberts did the flub in 2009 on purpose to start the “illegitimate” theme that republicans and the media have been pushing ever since. i remember in 2009 that they re-did the oath AFTER the big inaugural oath. if so, yet another smart move by our president.
Hi, 4morefor44 – Legally required to take the oath on Jan. 20th by noon. It’s in the Constitution. When the 20th falls on a Sunday, the custom is for the public swearing-in to take place on Monday.
No. The President must be sworn in on January 20.
So cool that three of us responded
That’s TOD for you!!!
thanks, everyone!!
I am so impressed with all of us. [I, personally, had no idea.] ; )
: ) practicing . . .
one more time
HELLO TOD. Just wanted to get your attention. On my way to the inauguration tomorrow. Last minute decision. My sister lives just outside of DC, she’s out of town, leaving me her condo. Hopefully will be able to see something a mile away from the Capitol
, but the thrill is just being there for history. Last time around for PBO, I need to be there for him this special time. Peace !!
AWEsomeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Have a great time. We look forward to your reports.
I envy you.
letus in the peanut gallery know how it goes!
Wow great story lovelyplains. Thanks for posting.
That was such a great read. There are so many great stories this weekend it is hard to read them all.
Thanks, I read it last night and was not sure if anyone had posted it. It’s a very uplifting story about fellow citizens.
Bill Moyers: We Must Fix the Senate
It’s time to reform the filibuster — one of the biggest obstacles to the public interest in our government.
…They want to take the filibuster, which can now be easily and quietly activated, and restore its original, public use (Think Mr. Smith or Mr. Sanders). Time is not on their side, however. Unless the Senate reforms the filibuster at the beginning of the new 113th Congress — that’s as soon as next Tuesday, January 22 — the minority wrecking crew remains in charge for the next two years.

This worries me. These older senators hate change. I have made my calls, emails, etc. Let’s hope they do the right thing.
I won’t ever forget what he said.
and that is the greatness of Rep Lewis…
I worked in vote builder also. So glad we are gearing Jo for 2014. With the redistricting by Repugnants, we need to work very hard.
I truly believe this is the future. We will become stronger and have more impact that the NRA or any other organization. This is for all of us!!!!!!!!!!1
agreed mtm!
Mika’s dad (no, i will not attempt to write his name) just had a fascinating interview on Euronews. What I found amusing is that on the bookcase behind him he had both the US and EU flags. Cosmopolitan!
Just go w/ Zig, alot easier. Her brother is our Ambassador to Sweden.
hahahaha too funny -sorry folks but I intend to do a lot of gloating this weekend. After all the lies he told and all the trouble they put us through….
I think we have earned the right to gloat, especially on these days. We all worked hard and now we celebrate!
You are so right, prettyFoot—-The same A–ho-es that transferred the huge budget surplus Clinton left to the country into their own pockets via tax cuts and wars…. Now, NOW! they want to talk about cuts. F—That.
Jobs. Strengthening education and infrasructure and increasing equality. That’s what we want now.
Prettyfoot58, I am with you 100%! It’s “time to PASS the American JOBS Act.”
Enough ya’ll. It’s time for some football. I’m outta here!
Who are you rooting for Yard?
SF and the Ravens.
Looks like you had a great day in football. I’m catching up on past blogs.
Pick a way to get involved today:

You are a good wife!!!
I adore Cyndi Lauper. She was on CNN and just kept on declaring her love for Pres. Obama over and over again in that distinct NY accent. She was fantastic.
taking another break…actually never went back to cleaning…but I will….anyhooo….been watching CNN and all the people waving on mall…but no T signs….think our group is still stuck at zoo?….Hope they avoided the elephants…..come on people, get with it…need a T sign….
New post!
