I adore Cyndi Lauper. She was on CNN and just kept on declaring her love for Pres. Obama over and over again in that distinct NY accent. She was fantastic.

I saw Cyndi Lauper when she said that, nearly all evening I have been hearing the media pundits and journalists talking about the President need to reach out to the Republicans. And I said what the hell are these fools talking about, he has tried reaching out to them time and time, and time and time and time and time again, but they have refuse to work with this President.

At the swearing in today, I saw Malia Obama really emerging as a beautiful young woman with the warmth and graciousness of her mother. Sasha is a cutie, but still not quite emerged from childhood. I remember once when the young Jackie Kennedy first came on the scene, she was described by some columnist as the “quintessence of luminous young womanhood.” I thought of that today as Malia stepped forward to embrace her dad. She really is luminous. There’s a great future in store for this young woman. She may never go anywhere near politics, but whatever she does, she will have the intelligence, great looks and charisma of her dad and mom. In the next four years, Sasha will come into her own and she, too, will be a glorious sight to behold. Both daughters have some of the best genes on the planet.

  13. January 20, 2013 at 4:40 pm

“I did it,” Obama said to his youngest daughter, Sasha, after being sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. He thanked the small group gathered in the room, and then left with his wife and two daughters.

  14. January 20, 2013 at 4:42 pm

I think it’s encouraging that the Republicans seem to be all about immigration reform.
    But, I don’t trust them!
    Do you?

    • 41 Bill
      January 20, 2013 at 4:49 pm

They act as though Rubio has offered ground breaking ideas on immigration reform. He has offered nothing new and nothing specific.

    • January 20, 2013 at 4:49 pm

      Never!

I remember in 2009 when they were “ready” for climate change and immigration reform. What happened? POTUS was determined to get his health care bill passed and Senators like Lindsey Graham had a hissy fit, took their ball and went home. They don’t have good intentions.

  15. January 20, 2013 at 4:44 pm

Someone should have warned me that when I moved to Baltimore it would be much like moving to Alabama- when it comes to some of the white people here… a young woman walking by my house asking the time- when I gave it to her I commented on the beautiful day- saying hopefully it would be as lovely for the Inauguration tomorrow- her response: Obama is a liar, giving welfare to hispanic immigrants..and then she uses the n word to describe him.
I’ll tell you folks, I went off, Off.. I jumped off my porch and was in her face. I’m fed up after four long years of the lies about this President. When poor people are complaining about a democratic President taking their welfare money then they are too stupid for words.. and anyone using the n word around me.. I will not stand for it. Just sick of the lies.

    • 53 desertflower
      January 20, 2013 at 4:49 pm

Good for you! They wallow in their ignorance and have no idea who’s really trying to help them. The stupid is pitiful. Like you, I’m at my wits end with this stuff. Bet you felt better after that truth session :)

      • 54 sherijr
        January 20, 2013 at 4:55 pm

LOL.. not really feeling better.. because I literally wanted to pounce on her.. I did yell at her, one of her friends came a long, apologized to me and took her friend away. I was awful df, I just lost it.. today of all days for someone to say such filth… plus I had to take a migraine pill earlier and had just got up from a nap to let my dog out and heres this little ignorant white female and me acting like I’m twenty getting in her face. I did try initially to make her understand she was wrong- about welfare.. to inform her that the republicans recently took food stamps away from children in the budget they pushed.. that illegal immigrants do not get welfare- but children born in America do… she wasn’t having it, Obama is a liar, a this a that… finally I just joined her in her ignorance and called her the little racist she is. Just some dumbass walking by my house wanting to know the time.. and me enjoying the weather and my President and POW.. worlds collided. not good.

      • January 20, 2013 at 5:02 pm

Well done Sherijr. Ignorance shows it’s ugly head just about anywhere. Glad you took care of business but sorry you had that
encounter in the first place. Like our PBO, we just have to brush off our shoulders and keep moving to the more important things
that lay ahead. Much Peace and Love to you.

Sherijr, I think all of us have had it with this kind of talk. I have said I will not be hearing anyone around me lie about the President without me defending him. I think most of us were quiet these last 4 years and we will no longer be quiet. They have the msm and we must have our voices heard. This President was reelected we are in the majority. We must fight back. Thank you for standing up for the PBO.

    • January 20, 2013 at 4:56 pm

omg! I’ve never heard that about baltimore and I have friends that live there. Wow!

You know, if I ran into a stranger who said what you did about George W’s inauguration I would just smile and keep it moving. Why did she feel the need to start saying those things?

      • 75 sherijr
        January 20, 2013 at 5:06 pm

me too gb, I never attacked folks for liking Bush or Reagan or any of those fools. I think perhaps, well I know- that some white folks believe they can say whatever little racist trash they’re thinking to other white folks.. and get away with it. I’ve only lived here 3 months, but the two ladies who live next door- white, 60s, twin sisters who’ve spent their lives together.. have been friendly, quite kind.. and yet have found it necessary to tell me when in conversations that so and so is black.. etc. Finally I stated to them, you do realize all my sons are black right (as they’ve certainly seen them here) and all my grandchildren?? Thus trying to put an end to their need to tell me when some black folks were “okay”, etc. Thought I left that crap from folks in the redstate of ND.

I used to run into that when I lived in California. That assumptiion of “well, we’re all just white folks together, right?” DRIVES ME CRAZY!! Someone who doesn’t know me at all assumes I’m just as craven as they are.

Good for you Sherijr for taking a stand and not putting up with it. Sweetbay up thread had an interesting observation about that she must have felt safe saying that and you let her know that it was NOT acceptable! I know what you mean about just “having enough” of that. The older I get the less I can put up with this kind of nonsense. You are a great example of what to do in this kind of situation!

sherijr – I’m proud of you for supporting your President and letting this little bigot know that she CANNOT say anything she wants just because a person looks like her. I bet this lesson will ring in her ears for days to come. And thank you for standing up for your children and grandchildren. You go girl!!!!

I agree, it may be painful for us- on both sides of the fence, but we have to call it out, for our kids, our grandkids. No way should my grandchildren, anyone’s child ever feel lesser, not going to happen.. and if that isn’t worthy of speaking up about, what is?

It’s time for the lies to stop. We need to call out our elected officials about the constant LIES. They are responsible for all the misconsceptions of the low information voter. R’s seem to like the people to be uninformed and stupid. They seem to think that it’s to their advantage. I am tired of anthing to get and stay elected. We the people need to demand honesty from our elected officials.

I am so disgusted that these fools don’t seem to take their jobs seriously. People elect them based on false pretenses. We need to demand more. The ugly needs to stop. The sooner the better.

Yep. We can do it…..If the Rethugs do this I heard all the GOP Governors do this, that there will never be a Democratic President, House or Senate ever again. Just like we changed the constituion that 18yrs vote in three months, we can change the constituion to get rid of the electorial college and have just the popular vote by state. It would make it a lot harder to steal the election too.

I am sick of the pundits and have decided not to watch any of them. All they keep doing is their continuation of “Obama must say this,” and “Obama must do this.” When will they get the message that President Obama does not take cues, or advice from them. I just get sick of them trying to insist that he do this or do that, or say this one way, or say that the other way. I can’t let them drag my spirit down.

Meanwhile, on HP, they are reporting from none other than that Right Wing AP that the estimates have been lowered to 500-700K. They are playing the same silly games they did with PBO’s campaign crowds, low-balling as much as possible to give the impression of lack of enthusiasm.

What the media fails to say however, is that GWB’s 2nd inauguration was 450K and Clinton’s 2nd inaug was 250K. So no matter how low they try to go, PBO’s 2nd inaug will still exceed that of the most recent 2-term presidents BY FAR – DESPITE the fact that people have more forms of alternate access via internet, smartphones and wider choice of cable & broadcast TV channels !!!
