For those of us on the West Coast, this is gonna be a long day but worth every second. I was overjoyed four years ago. This is MORE important because is sustains what we accomplished and makes it a fixture of American history and progress. I can hardly wait to see the events unfold tomorrow and for the second term. Glorious day!
You know, I think maybe we’re all just finally coming to the realization that we really get four more years of Obama-Biden. Not sure I fully comprehended that until this weekend! Tomorrow will be a happy day!
OK…as I was speaking I got rudely cut off..hee hee…so I’ll try again…….I so enjoyed seeing all the pictures of the meet and greet in DC…All of you are so beautiful….you each share the same “family” trait…joy, warmth, and sparkling love of PBO…it just jumps out from the picture…as I said in the last post….I expected y’all to jump up from the table, while singing Forward, go out in the street and hold your hands up with 4 fingers…you look just like that video….Thank you all for sharing and including us and a big Thank You to Donna for making it happen. This weekend will be a memory that you will always cherish,
I hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow, stay warm if you are going to be outside! Chipsticks, TOD thanks for the sense of shared community from wherever you all reside.
Sorry to bring up this sad subject, but I recall that Ted Kennedy became ill and suffered a seizure at the “Inaugural Luncheon at National Statuary Hall” in 2009, and had to be escorted out of the luncheon and transported to the hospital. And I think Robert Byrd became ill during the event, as well. Sad. Miss them both – they were old friends in the Senate, and both supported President Obama, of course.
Actually, Byrd wasn’t ill, he became upset at the sight of his friend Ted having a seizure. The pundiots passed mis-information; his office corrected it about an hour later.
You probably all know that when I’m home it’s very often easy to hang out here in the village until really, really late, or early, depending on how you look at it. That’s because I’m in the comfort of my own space. Well, this DC trip has help me rediscover the fact that I’m really not cut out for night-life. I wandered back to the hotel about an hour ago, which means that for three nights in a row I’ve been wandering the streets in a strange city. The up-shot of this is that I am tremendously tired by the time I start to unwind, and tonight is no exception! Anyways, before I sign out, I have to say…
/whisper/ I. got. a. ticket. for. the INAUGURATION!!! Don’t tell anyone, because I wouldn’t want anyone to feel jealous, but ‘I. VC. GOT. A. TICKET!’ WHAT A HOOT! Sure it means I have to get up early tomorrow, but I. got. a. ticket! {{{{{DD4O}}}}} SOOOOO sorry you weren’t able to get one Ms Chips And, yes, I know it’s not proper to gloat, so ‘I sowwy, Ms C’ [shorter VC = Eat your heart out Ms Chips!]
To other business:
Not that I’m name dropping or anything, but *I* had dinner with Nancy Smash!!!!! You can line up on the right to shake my hand and on the left to get my autograph. Oh, well, alright. I cannot tell a lie, she just walked by me in the restaurant where my friends and I had supper – Four Seasons (I think), in the Bourbon Steak Restaurant. I had a couple of sightings so far of famous people like Nancy Smash who was relaxed and smiling and one or two others who think they are famous, but do not merit specific mention by moi.
Maybe, I’ll tell you after the inauguration. Maybe. See, we made a pact to be incognito, so…… I won’t even admit that I was one of those who agreed to be in the pic ONLY if culprits people were not identified. Therefore, it wouldn’t be ‘fair and balanced’ to now out myself and thereby out others by a process of elimination. I’ll send you a personal picture once this is all over and I’m back home AND FIGURE OUT HOW TO UPLOAD.
great news! You.Are. Going.To.The.Inauguration!!!!! sounds like you’ve been having a great time:) And your telling us your story, priceless:) Get to bed! Big day tomorrow:)
Desertf, can you tell I’m truly happy? Speechless with joy I am. {{Desertf}} Of course, all this means I have to pay close attention so that I can report back to home base – something I NEVER anticipated having the chance to do. I guess DD4O decided to put some pressure on me; I’m a bit nervous with the responsibility.
What a lovely day. thanks Chips for making the videos and pictures available. My hubby thinks my access to the TV should be limited. (I am suffering with Obamitis) He doesn’t know about this secret which I keep from him. TOD is the only cure for what ails me. Thanks and goodnite.
TODobots: I haven’t thanked Ms Chips and you for the work you are doing recording this momentous occasion, partly because I’ve been too tired to read all your contributions when I get home. However, I know the information is here, and as soon as I can I’ll try to review it all, so THANKS EVERYONE! As I see it the ‘problem’ with trying to find out what’s happening on the ground is that you only see the little spot where you yourself are. It’s a terrific feeling to know that though I’ll miss the immediacy of the TOD punditry, I’ll have much appreciated access to the ‘rewrite’. Merci all.

Donna, you all are the best!!!! What a joy to see a TOD family group. I love my TOD Family. Thanks for sharing Donna and Chips.
We are the hottest ever!!! I am so elated that you all met up and had a great time. Donna, please get some rest and take very good care now.((((( Love you for giving all of us such joy)))))).
Westcoast people need to get to bed. Early rising tomorrow. Grace to all of us. This has been a beautiful day, and praying for a Great Celebration for tomorrow. So excited.
I love my family here.((((((( Hugs filled with lots of love from HZ.)))))))))
Not sure if anyone is still awake, but for the West Coast crew, I’ll go ahead and write a couple of words. First, thanks to Donna for organizing the TOD meetup today – at the cost of missing out on the Legacy event and part of her husband’s birthday. What a treat to meet everyone! Apart from the actual inauguration – this was certainly the highlight of the trip to DC!
And, as VC hinted, we saw a few “celebrities” today – some of whom are celebrities in their own minds, or through their own notorious lies and shameless behavior (Ed Henry… Orly Tates… Rev. Jackson… that one Congresswoman with the zany fashion sense… the Beast and the lovely Nancy Pelosi (who thanked us for coming, because she thought we were going into her inauguration event…)!
Having a blast in DC – and looking forward to a glorious day tomorrow! Good night all.
Everytime I read about the meeting of the TOD, I feel really bad. What a missed opportunity!!!
I had a good laugh about the celebs you met, i.e. Ed Henry and Orly Tates. Did you really see that crazy woman??? I would have loved to meet Nancy Pelosi. What a classy and smart lady!
Thanks for sharing your experience. It helps me feel a little closer to DC than I would be otherwise.
We have four more years and there’s bound to be some opportunities for another meetup as President Obama delivers again and again on his historic promises! We’re enjoying for everyone who can’t be here.
I didn’t know that any TOD peeps from the West Coast we’re heading to DC for all the festivities. How wonderful that you are there Theo. Enjoy! Thanks for the posts; it lets us experience it all vicariously. The rest of us are there with y’all in spirit. #4MoreFor44
Could not be more delighted for you, theo!!!! So thrilled you were with some of our fabulous TODers today and that you are going to experience history tomorrow, first hand!!!
If you go to Alicia Keyes FB page, she has a photo of the treats left in her hotel room from whomever asked her to be at the Inaugural festivities. I know a lot of women here who would love to eat those cookies!
Congratulating a friend after her son and daughter got married within a month of each other, a woman asked, “What kind of boy did your daughter marry?”
“Oh, he’s wonderful,” gushed the mother. “He lets her sleep late, ants her to go to the beauty parlor regularly, and insists on taking her out to dinner every night.”
“That’s nice,” said the woman. “What about your son?”
“I’m not so happy about that,” the mother sighed. “His wife sleeps late, spends all her time in the beauty parlor, and makes them eat out.”
Look at FLOTU eyes, you see love and so much pride for her husband. She’s saying that’s my husband, that’s my friend, that’s the father of my children, and that’s my President.
beyond precious and funny when the Prez said, “I love her bangs!” He is the cutest and always ready with the cute quip. He promised himself he would not allow himself to get isolated in the bubble and I think he’s done an amazing job of staying real, listening to people, relating to us….we get that he feels us. Love him!!! And the warmth there is between the two couples is something I’ve never seen between a Prez and Vice Prez in my lifetime or that I’ve ever really heard of. They are such a team, partnership and friendship that will be for life. So thrilled that we get to enjoy them and have them working for our country for four more years. It’s a beautiful thing.
FLOTUS talks of how the Obama-Biden family have bonded. Unlike the last VP and President and their family. Although I can really blame G.W. Bush from not being friends with Dick Cheney or that stupid daughter of his Liz.

Happy Inauguration Day to all of you and to my best team, the first two couples.
I woke up at 5 am because I don’t want to miss anything. Oh boy, I already began the switching channel strategy. Some folks hide some sinister intents beyond a veneer of measured words for the President’s big celebration. And to be sure, predictioins abound: What his 2nd term will be, what the President should say, what the huge challenges are, how a 2nd term always end in scandal. And what about his expected 2 years of lame duck.
I really miss being there. How unfortunate for me. Well, I’ll try to make the best of the day.
Happy celebrations, Mr. President and Mr. Vice-President!
Wonderful crushing win from @serenawilliams! Now I know I just CAN'T miss any first serves tomorrow in our doubles!— Venus Williams (@Venuseswilliams) January 21, 2013
Fantastic representation/image of Dr ML King on the official Google page today. Happy Birthday MLK & Congs Mr President, the inherator of the King Legacy.
Chips, I do not know if you are able to capture that MLK image – really cool & good one to wake up on this historic morning!
Good Morning, everybody. Have a great & blessed “inauguration” day. Pay no mind to the MSM haters. They gonna hate anyways.
YEAH!!! 4 MORE YEARS starts once again.
We are getting local reports that metro rail subways are packed. The gold ticket line (which are the tickets I gave away) is already practically full. WOW! DC Police are saying based on the crowd that is forming down there right now that they are expecting 800,000 to 1 Million people today. Those are really great numbers for a second inauguration. People love our PBO!!!
That’s why I don’t trust anything the MSM puts out there about the crowd estimates. I just saw my ABC local news repeat the low ball estimate of the anticipated crowds of 500-700K. I’m not buying it. This is what the AP put out yesterday, but that’s not accurate.
Eugene Robinson is the most useless person I’ve ever seen on “Morose Joe.” He lays down whenever Joe questions him when it comes to President Obama; Eugene is so fucking wishy- washy. I’m so tired of this “No Labels” bullshit, “No Labels” mean we’re going to attack President Obama without calling ourselves Republicans.
It’s Inauguration Day Part II. Woooooooohoooooooo! It’s gonna be a great day folks.
Robert Gibbs has read President Obama’s Inauguration Day speech. He says it’s “hopeful” & “talks about values and visions” #inaug2013— CBS This Morning (@CBSThisMorning) January 21, 2013
c-span is doing a really nice job of showing the flavor of what is happening in DC right now. They are talking to the average person going into the Ceremony and showing the lines of people waiting to get in. It is far more entertaining IMO than anything any of these pundits have to say.
The liberation of Barack Obama
By E.J. Dionne Jr.,
Barack Hussein Obama can begin his second term liberated by the confidence that he is already a landmark figure in American history. His task is not to manufacture a legacy but to leave his successors a nation that is more tranquil because it finally resolved arguments that roiled it for decades.
Whatever happens in the next four years, Obama will forever be our first African American president, and our first biracial president. He has won two successive popular-vote majorities. Andrew Jackson and Franklin Roosevelt, both of them icons, are the only other Democrats who managed this.
Good Morning TOD Family and Happy Inauguration Day! I’m so proud of our country for the wonderful affirmation of our values and the President’s vision that we celebrate today. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to live vicariously through those of you who made the journey to Washington to experience that celebration in person. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you Chips for giving us this space to support our President and his Administration, nurture each other and make this a better country and world for all of us. God Bless The Obama Diary! God Bless our First and Second Families! God Bless The United States of America!
The very last inaugural ball of President Barack Obama’s two terms in office will be on Tuesday evening, Jan. 22, when the tireless troops who helped win the White House will party at the Staff Inaugural Ball at the Washington Convention Center. The President and First Lady Michelle Obama will attend to thank their base. Appropriately, the impressive dessert comes from the President’s adopted hometown, ground-zero for his political career and his first and second campaigns. Eli’s Cheesecake Company, a Chicago culinary icon, is creating a 500-pound cake for the party, which will be topped with a replica of the Capitol Dome. (Above, Eli’s Executive Pastry Chef at work on the masterpiece in Chicago)

Good Morning TODville,
Happy Inauguration Day to all of you and to my best team, the first two couples.
God bless you and your families.
Fantastic representation/image of Dr ML King on the official Google page today. Happy Birthday MLK & Congs Mr President, the inherator of the King Legacy.
Chips, I do not know if you are able to capture that MLK image – really cool & good one to wake up on this historic morning!
Yep I just saw that on our local DC news!!!
Good Morning, everybody. Have a great & blessed “inauguration” day. Pay no mind to the MSM haters. They gonna hate anyways.
YEAH!!! 4 MORE YEARS starts once again.
Good Morning TOD
We are getting local reports that metro rail subways are packed. The gold ticket line (which are the tickets I gave away) is already practically full. WOW! DC Police are saying based on the crowd that is forming down there right now that they are expecting 800,000 to 1 Million people today. Those are really great numbers for a second inauguration. People love our PBO!!!
And yes I WANT TO BE THERE…..!!!!!
Good Morning Ut. My excitement level is off the charts this morning
Good morning! Donna, I’m with you. I probably slept two hours last night, and finally couldn’t pretend to keep sleeping anymore.
See, I told you, Eugene is a suck-ass.
c-span is doing a really nice job of showing the flavor of what is happening in DC right now. They are talking to the average person going into the Ceremony and showing the lines of people waiting to get in. It is far more entertaining IMO than anything any of these pundits have to say.
Yup, no msm idjits, teevee pundtwits, blowhards today. Let’s not spoil the mood by posting/ranting about what these morons say/tweet.
You are right, amk.

E.J. Dionne hits the nail on the head, its a good short read.
FOX NEWS HAZ A SAD
I am so thrilled for this day and super disappointed that I’m traveling for business and won’t be able to share much of it with Chips and all the rest of the TOD family. I know you’ll have great commentary when I finally get to my destination and I thank you all in advance! Blessings and joy on this marvelous day.
Morning!

Good Morning everyone!! Excitement is definitely in the air. My DVR is set to CSPAN but we are scanning the various TV channels to get a glimpse of their reports.
