Chips, are you able to get a break as well and take some great favorites snacks? I hope so. You are giving us so much beauty. (((((((((((((( We Love You and Thank You So Much))))))))))))))))HZ
Does that ‘splain why iPad packed up just as I needed to go and fix something for lunch? I was so afraid I had broken TOD when I posted that email link from VPB! As a result, had to shut down for quite a while. And to my dismay, all the local stations went back to news and regular programming. No eff’ing wonder I do not watch television. Hoping they resume coverage for the balls!
Yeah, I can read TOD. my twitter has crashed, and the TV had an emergency test, but there are the Beautiful First Couple, out of the limo again. Did you see how thick those doors are? Joe Biden is having a great time.
Malia and Sasha Obama have handled the last 4 years with such grace and maturity beyond their years. They really are a shining example of their parents’ values.
You’d better proclaim my innocence! You have NO idea how difficult a time I’m having trying to keep my eyes open. I’m actually not sure how much longer I can stay upright.
Chips Chica, I am unbelievably tired, with literally red, red eyes , but floating on air at the same time! I had an awesome, awesome emotional experience this morning listening to my President ‘up close’ and personal, and I am a pretty even-keeled person. Really no words, CC!!. I will try tomorrow, though.
VC I’m so glad you got to witness that once in a lifetime experience. He was so spectacular today. Go take a nap and then get back here and tell us all about it.
Once in a lifetime it truly was, and YOU have to intuit what it really means to me. Taking a nap is the ‘plan’ ,DD, but every time my eyes close I pry them open because this is the first thing I’ve caught live WITH TOD since my arrival. Of course the fact I’m too weary to comment defeats my intent but I’m somewhat stubborn.
He sure isn’t Bob. He has the energy of a man half of his age and would be tireless should he choose to run n 2016. There’s an effervescence about him that comes to life among a lot of people–a true extrovert.
When Joe was asked by a reporter right after he cast his vote if that would be the last time he would be voting for himself he said something like never say never.
It was so much fun to watch this First Family just be normal for a few minutes there.
Sasha made her parents kiss three or four times to get the picure just right.
And before that, Malia put her camera phone up to snap a pic of her Mom. Then her
Mom leaned over to see it.
It felt like my family. So sweet.
So with the armed forces passing the reviewing stand, cookemom hears for the 23,489,681,879,156,498 time, tales of cookeman’s years in the Air Force and having to march to school, and to salute the base commander in the reviewing stand every Wednesday. Fond memories I’m sure, but I know how the story ends, cause here we are 41 years later.
The things a cookemom has to do……and I try to look as interested to hear it now as I did the very first time I heard it. Actually, I’m getting quite good at it.
What a Momentous Day for our Country and the World. I am so thankful to be alive to experience! Since the President’s reelection, I have had such a calm come over me and I plan to celebrate everyday of his second term because I don’t think that I’ll get to experience this again in my lifetime.
Chips, you are Phenomenal! Thank you for your relentless energy and for all that you provided her today. Everyday is a magnificent day on TOD, but today, this day, you have outdone yourself. THANK YOU PROFUSELY. XOXO!
Hey Chips and all my friends here on TOD!!!! I have been crying all day! What a lovely day we have had. I had to work for 16 hours and missed most of the celebration, but I have recorded it all and will watch it later. The whole wonderful family looks freaking amazing!!!! FLOTUS looks so classy, the President could not have looked anymore handsome, and the girls looked like little princesses! Love it, love it love it! Can’t wait for tonight and FLOTUS’s gorgeous gown! Just dropped in to say hello, and say once again how blessed we are to have this wonderful site. THANK YOU CHIPS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!! I will never be able to say that enough! What a wonderful day!
I saw some of it as I was going in out and out of rooms passing out medications. I was so happy, dancing and singing and smiling, making my patients happy!!!! It is an amazing day! I can’t wait to hear all of his speech.
Had to step away for a little and missed so much. Finally sorta caught up. Will have to go back later. And did we ever solve the mystery of who broke the twitter? LOL
This is fantastic. I have never, ever, have seen anything like this. People were yelling their lungs out just to get close and acknowledge getting a glimpse of our First Family.
South Shore Drill Team. My granddaughter belonged before she moved from Illinois. Wonderful community group of dedicated parents and outreach organization. They have won many accolades and recognitions.
I saw a segment from Ill TV last week about the south shore drill team practicing and all excited but they were short the funds needed to make the trip. By a lot. They kept practicing and never faltered in the believe that they would make it.
can it be possible that this inauguration is more moving, more inspiring, more personal than four years ago? I am so glad I stayed home to savor every minute. I cannot yet find the words to give voice to how I feel.
PBO has made a point of citizenship since his acceptance speech at the DNC and he did so again today. This is word that must be our battle cry, for battles are ahead.
My senator Mark Kirk is back, and my representative Luis Guttierez, can be flaky. So I must make my voice heard and become part of the force that my President has asked of me.
I am just overwhelmed today by this great man, his great family, his great administration, and this great moment in history.
Yes, this day is different from four years ago, but no less wonderful. This time I noticed the calm and ease the president has. He’s been through the fire, he KNOWS what to do, what can be done and how to do it. He has triumphed over unreasonable opposition, and come out on top. He also knows We The People are with him, and together we have power.
Last time we were coming up from the horrible nightmare of GWB’s eight years, and were euphoric. We didn’t realize what WE had to do, now we do. We are more mature in our expectations and hopes, and more realistic about what needs to be done. There is a much deeper satisfaction this time, and deep thanksgiving.
57, I know just how you feel about being overwhelmed. Today, we saw a mature PBO, with great accomplishments behind him, step up with confidence and the assurance that he was moving this great ship of state in the direction he intended. From the beginning it has always been about empowering Americans to embrace their role as citizens. He taught us all how to work to work as citizens to elect him as president. Now he’s charging us to do something even harder–be good citizens every day, year in and year out, so we can shape an America that works for all of us, not just the plutocrats. That’s why he said gun safety legislation would only happen if people wanted it to. We have the power and he’s asking us to use it.
Chris Matthews says PBO said this to him at the Al Smith dinner after the 1st debate: “Calm down. I got this!”
Howard Fineman asked Chris if he’d ever said that on the air. Chris says “No, well, I guess I just did.”
My son will be 10 y.o when Obama leaves office. He'll never have known a POTUS who isn't African American #perspective— amy walter (@amyewalter) January 21, 2013
Huge crowd. Eat your heart out pundits. RT @markknoller: WH cites Inaugural Official putting crowd estimate for swearing-in at 1 million.— Nerdy Wonka (@NerdyWonka) January 21, 2013
Really love all these groups saying ‘yes we are American, but we honor our cultures too’. Shows the melting pot that we are. Different ethnicities, religions, colors. The thing that holds us all together is our believe that there is a place for us all here. Something the GOP seems hell bent on destroying.
I’m like a little kid at a parade, just sitting here smiling away. Marching bands and then a glimpse at my beautiful president and then another proud marching band and then another glimpse of my great president enjoying each entry. Fun!
My best friend is going to one of the balls tonight – they are in a bar watching the parade and going to go up to their room to get ready soon. How much fun is that? They were both very instrumental in working on PBO’s campaign in Virginia!!
Guys!! Check out this AWESOME pic of Sasha and Malia! I’ve never seen them like this. Normally in photos, they are touching/ hugging their parents. This is such a sweet pic!
Good ole Jonathan Alter, freaking out because PBO is part of the America grain now. Yuck Yuck Howard Feinstien said Beyonce looked American. Well, I guess they’re getting use to a Black President and Black people’s existence!!!
What a wonderful day…
This is a glorious and just refreshing breath of beautifulness in our nation with POB as our beautiful leader.HZ
Yes it is HZ.
Yes it is! So thankful to be watching it and enjoy with TOD.
What an amazing day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, I have never been this close to being first…what a truly amazing day
Top ten!
A wonderful day indeed.
Chips, are you able to get a break as well and take some great favorites snacks? I hope so. You are giving us so much beauty. (((((((((((((( We Love You and Thank You So Much))))))))))))))))HZ
Thanks for the new thread!
I think we broke twitter…….
We have the power!!
Find the good and praise it…. It was wonderful and amazing day.
Twitter is definitely choking … badly ….
Congrats on 1st Carol!!
It is Bob!!! Siezing up!
Must have had a pretzel
And chunky peanut butter
Throw in a few cheesie puffs too.
Yum!
Thanks Bobfr.

Talk about being hot to trot. Chips you’re on it!
Yeah, I can read TOD. my twitter has crashed, and the TV had an emergency test, but there are the Beautiful First Couple, out of the limo again. Did you see how thick those doors are? Joe Biden is having a great time.
Gorgeous First Couple on a Gorgeous Day!
Chipsticks – you are awesome
Malia and Sasha Obama have handled the last 4 years with such grace and maturity beyond their years. They really are a shining example of their parents’ values.
Looks like someone broke Twitter.
Was it YOU, Dudette????
All I did was hit the Refresh button…
Ah, so it WAS you
Look there were too many people on there anywhere. Let some of them scatter, it’ll be back shortly.
Okay which one of you broke Twitter
Donna, it was Dudette – I’d usually blame VC, but she’s innocent this time.
It wasn’t really me. It was Mitt Romney in a drunken rage.
You’d better proclaim my innocence! You have NO idea how difficult a time I’m having trying to keep my eyes open. I’m actually not sure how much longer I can stay upright.
VC!!!!!!!! How are ya doing?!
Chips Chica, I am unbelievably tired, with literally red, red eyes , but floating on air at the same time! Yo VC! Where are the pictures? We need photographic evidence!!!
PICTURES? There were no pictures mentioned in the fine print of the conditions of acceptance!
Chicken!!! Bawk, bawk!
All of us working together!!
Don’t use twitter, so I guarantee it was not me! Whew!
Joe Biden does not appear to be thinking of retiring – anytime
Oh, you noticed that, too?!
Yep!!!
And, what a great looking family!!!
He sure isn’t Bob. He has the energy of a man half of his age and would be tireless should he choose to run n 2016. There’s an effervescence about him that comes to life among a lot of people–a true extrovert.
Yep. He’s not going anywhere. Hillary’s gonna have to come through him, if she wants that job.
When Joe was asked by a reporter right after he cast his vote if that would be the last time he would be voting for himself he said something like never say never.
This is too cute:
Katy Perry Channels Aretha Franklin at Inauguration

Great job, I’m really enjoying your pics. Thanks so much.
This place is AWESOME! Thank you universe! And chips!
Switched to the inaugural site to watch the parade on line. All of the major networks and PBS have ended their coverage.
It looks like we will have another parade in the dark.
I am watching it on msnbc.
Dr. Jill is simply RADIANT!!
Dear Chips, a huge thank you for this inaugural excursion. You have demonstrated that distance no longer means exclusion. You are wonderfully amazing.
Here comes the First Family to the viewing booth
Mrs. Robinson is hanging in there!
Here we go. I love a parade!
Sasha is looking SO grown-up and GORGEOUS.
I love that necklace Sasha has on. Where do we find out about it.
Most likely http://mrs-o.com
Or Huff Po.
Somebody got Malia excited in the rows behind her!
I believe that it was their Aunt.
Looks like its warm in the reviewing stand. Better than last time.
Ahhh, the Twittah! It’s Back!!
I thought I saw cousin Henry the eight?
Michelle made sure that a heater was placed in the review box. This is why people are taking off their coats.
Chanting!! Ready to Go! Fired Up!
The crowd is chanting “Fired UP/Ready to Go”
I love this crowd.
They’re chanting Fired Up.. Ready to Go
PBO kissed Michelle! Sweet.
And when she stood up to take off her coat he said, “Need some help?”
Awww. He’s such a sweetie!
Parade crowd shouting Fired Up, Ready to Go! PBO gave them the thumbs up.
Malia has really livened and loosened up!
Love it..They chanting “Fired Up Ready To go”…What a special moment! chocked up.
The kids are adorable. They all whipped out their devices.
The crowd began chanting Fired Up Ready To Go and POTUS and FLOTUS joined them.
Let’s get a little econmic stimulus going: Anybody know what kind of gum the President chews?
Sasha once said that he likes minty gum.
Yeh, but what brand!
Nicorette? Ha!
I see the girls have their smartphones…..for entertainment
I did not know Sasha had a smart phone.
Ipod. Just like an Iphone with no calling capability.
I should have said gadgets for I have no idea what those things are…..they’re smarter than me
Here comes the Parade!!!
Looks like the President is texting
Yes, he sent me a quick howdy!
Tell him we said “Hi” too!
Ask him what brand of gum he’s chewing.
Sasha Obama just took a kiss cam picture of her parents. Awww.
PBO and Miche had to make kissy faces 4 times for Sasha to get a good photo of them!!
Did you see that? Four kisses!
Damn, I missed it! Trying to get Twitter to work right!
Uploading a very shaky video as wee speak Dudette, will post it here!
Bob was it you..that broke tweeter lol?
It was so much fun to watch this First Family just be normal for a few minutes there.
Sasha made her parents kiss three or four times to get the picure just right.
And before that, Malia put her camera phone up to snap a pic of her Mom. Then her

It felt like my family. So sweet.
Punahou!!!
Shaka!!!!!
Sash wants to get up and shake it! LOL!!
Man oh man POTUS is having fun.
Iowa in da house…PBO lovin it!!

There you go! You’ve become so terrific at it Mr. Cookeman tries hard to ensure your happiness by retelling it JUST for you – thoughtful man!
What a Momentous Day for our Country and the World. I am so thankful to be alive to experience! Since the President’s reelection, I have had such a calm come over me and I plan to celebrate everyday of his second term because I don’t think that I’ll get to experience this again in my lifetime.

He’s as cute as his wife

I saw some of it as I was going in out and out of rooms passing out medications. I was so happy, dancing and singing and smiling, making my patients happy!!!! It is an amazing day! I can’t wait to hear all of his speech.

OMG are you checking out the Illinois drill team? They’re great!
South Shore Drill Team. My granddaughter belonged before she moved from Illinois. Wonderful community group of dedicated parents and outreach organization. They have won many accolades and recognitions.
I believe it! They were really sharp
These kids are great! Go South Shore Drill Team from Chi-town!!
Holla!!!!!
I saw a segment from Ill TV last week about the south shore drill team practicing and all excited but they were short the funds needed to make the trip. By a lot. They kept practicing and never faltered in the believe that they would make it.

ABSOLUTELY THIS…….a DITTO to Carolyn and Jackie. Thanks, ladies.
I am just loving these marching bands!!
Chris Matthews says PBO said this to him at the Al Smith dinner after the 1st debate: “Calm down. I got this!”
Howard Fineman asked Chris if he’d ever said that on the air. Chris says “No, well, I guess I just did.”
Damn straight Mr. President!
I love Joe, and he loves all the people
I know. Isn’t he fabulous?
Ha! My President is shimmying to the music!!
Holy crap is PBO trying out some latin swing? too cute. Hey cue tweety, quick
I know, right?! And it wasn’t half bad!
I’d dance with him under the red lights….
Look at POTUS breaking out the dance moves. Go POTUS!
It’s a new day.
This is wonderful we have such a diverse parade. All ethnics.
The tapestry of our country. I love seeing it on full display at our presidential inauguration. Speaks to the inclusiveness that many are feeling.
Yep that crowd looked huge. I heard there were predictions by the pundits of less than 800K. They will never understand how much PBO is loved!!!
Wow! That’s fantastic, UT.
The Chinese American dancers are so cute. All of the bands and dancers have been strutting their stuff!
Really love all these groups saying ‘yes we are American, but we honor our cultures too’. Shows the melting pot that we are. Different ethnicities, religions, colors. I’m like a little kid at a parade, just sitting here smiling away. Marching bands and then a glimpse at my beautiful president and then another proud marching band and then another glimpse of my great president enjoying each entry. Fun!
Me too. Isn’t it great!!
bah ha ha Dudette we must’ve answered at the same time. We sound like the Doublemint Twins.
I know. I love parades. This is so great!
At some point I’m gonna need to eat and take a nature break!
You know you’ve got it bad when you are timing your bathroom breaks so that you don’t miss one moment of all things Obama today.
lolol…..I thought I was the only one timing the bathroom breaks!
Ha! We def have issues
I just did Dudette
My best friend is going to one of the balls tonight – they are in a bar watching the parade and going to go up to their room to get ready soon. How much fun is that? They were both very instrumental in working on PBO’s campaign in Virginia!!
Crowd going wild for Mass infantry. Wonder how the confederates are feeling this?
Hey, the 54th Massachussetts Regiment was featured in the movie Glory!
Oooo, those clouds look kinda worrisome.
Guys!! Check out this AWESOME pic of Sasha and Malia! I’ve never seen them like this. Normally in photos, they are touching/ hugging their parents. This is such a sweet pic!

Too cute. Just chilling.
YAY! NASA!!!!
My tribe! Nerrrrddsss Rooooool!
‘My tribe!’ LMAO I was so happy to see them there also.
New post!
http://theobamadiary.com/2013/01/21/inauguration-day-part-11-updating/
I just had to go and check wikipedia about the crowds at both of GWB’s inguarations. Both times the crowds were under 400,000. What a difference.
200,000 were protestors
Awesome day of events…will never have this feeling again!
A perfect example of our leader. He will not walk in fear. Thank goodness for our President.
Good ole Jonathan Alter, freaking out because PBO is part of the America grain now. Yuck Yuck
Howard Feinstien said Beyonce looked American. Well, I guess they’re getting use to a Black President and Black people’s existence!!!
