I went to the Inauguration in 2009 and yes, I was one of the Survivors of the Purple Tunnel of Doom. As difficult as standing in an icy tunnel for 6 hours was, having tickets and not being able to get in to see the President’s speech, the whole weekend that we were there was otherwise magical, joyous, inspiring, a wonderful, once in a lifetime experience. There were so many events and we went to the Colorado Inaugural Ball, saw all the monuments — even took some time to walk the whole perimeter of the White House the day before the Inauguration (my friend Shari’s idea) in silence, saying a prayer written by a friend of ours, blessing the White House and its incoming President and his family.
Well, I am PROUD this day. Shari made it back to this year’s Inauguration, along with Deb, our County Commissioner, Marilyn, our local area Democrats group president, and a group of about 8 Coloradans. They are enjoying considerably warmer weather and…I got a text from Shari a couple of hours ago, that she shook Jesse Jackson’s hand and that they are “in a good spot”!
Again, THANK YOU for this site…what an inspiring community of wonderful human beings!
