It’s turning out to be a beautiful sunny, yet cold day in D.C. for our newly re-elected President. God is truly smiling down on us that America made a wise choice.

OT: It was NO coincidence that for BOTH of President Reagans inaugurals the temperatures were below zero…..God was trying to tell us Hell had truly frozen over with the election of that man. People who stayed home or Democrats who voted for him are reaping what this man did to this country and only BHO can fix it and turn it around before it’s too late.

      January 21, 2013 at 3:10 pm

Just a slight correction Jojo: Reagan’s 1st inauguration had “warm” temps of 55+ deg. It was his second Inaug which had sub-zero temps.

    January 21, 2013 at 3:07 pm

how far we’ve come from the horror of george bush stealing the election in 2000, and his first inaugural parade where his car was pelted with eggs, and protesters made them stop the motorcade for a bit, and they had to rush him out of the parade for safety because so many people understood how the republicans stole the presidency. president obama has fixed so much!

          • 36 4morefor44
            January 21, 2013 at 3:26 pm

yea, the media was already in full-on republican cover up mode by then, so they tried to shut that story down asap. just like the jeff gannon/guckert scandal (note the guy has seemingly disappeared since then), or when the leader of the free world was almost killed by a pretzel, and the media just went, “move along, nothing to see here.”

meanwhile, even when president succeeds massively, such as killing bin laden, it’s instantly portrayed as there being something wrong with it. always. the entire media is a giant propaganda mill for republicans.

i remember that. I think he lost oxygen to his brain because since then he was different. What happened did a bunch of people send him the super thick pretzels? I bet Karl Rove was giving him mouth-to-mouch to make sure his plan and meal ticket did not expire. I guess we should be thankful that Cheny did not become president eventhough he ran things all the way until 2008 when Bush said no more ass hole look what you’ve done.

See I don’t remember that because I had no desire to watch his inauguration and didn’t. It’s sad they did that but that’s how thieves are treated.

I resented his being selected but I never hoped for him to fail because he was going to be our leader. Of course he did fail but I never WISHED for it.

I know, my thought was “he can’t do that much harm…we have a constitution and two branches of government” yeah, right. That just showed me that the WRONG person in office CAN DO a lot of harm.

      • 42 4morefor44
        January 21, 2013 at 3:19 pm

yes, and when republicans try to point out to me how the eveeel libruls are just as bad as the gun-toting right-wingers in terms of hating on the president of the opposite party, i always mention the truth that in my entire life of being a liberal, i cannot remember one single time myself or anyone i know ever suggesting that it would be nice for someone to “off” george bush or reagan. when you’re with republicans, they make jokes about doing that to president obama CONSTANTLY, and have been since the first day president obama has been in office. protesting is fine, but wishing for physical violence is traitorous in my opinion. what happened in 2000 with right-wingers stealing it and al gore winning the popular vote, is about the only case where it made sense to protest like that though since clearly it was a coup.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: “WE ARE MADE FOR THIS MOMENT”

‘We are made for this moment'; Obama’s spirited defense of ‘collective action’

By Steve Benen – Mon Jan 21, 2013 1:09 PM EST

    ————————————

Watching President Obama deliver his second inaugural address, I was reminded once again that elections really do have consequences.

Four years ago at the same location, Obama invested a fair amount of time in making the case for an improved political process — one in which policymakers “proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas that for far too long have strangled our politics.” It was, he said in 2009, time to “set aside childish things.”

Today, the president seemed far less concerned with process and more concerned with results. Obama’s interest is not necessarily in improving our politics, but rather, in improving our commitments to justice, fairness, and opportunity.
    .
    .
If Obama’s speech today is indicative of how and where he intends to lead the nation over the next four years, there’s reason for optimism. The president could have pursued a more modest, narrow course, but he instead chose an ambitious defense of progressive ideals.

Watching PBO walk is fascinating. He has a certain built in swagger, noticeable even when he takes a few steps. The only other person who has a similar swagger is the star of “White Collar” ( in my humble opinion).

    • 72 Dudette
      January 21, 2013 at 3:27 pm

I don’t know White Collar, so I’d have to look the person up that you’re referencing, but I’ve often said to family and friends that PBO, Denzel Washington and Pierce Brosnan can open a school for how to walk. Seriously, they just GOT it!

    • 75 daisydem
      January 21, 2013 at 3:36 pm

When I saw him walking toward the exit this morning to the dais, down that long walk they were all making, I thought he looks so solemn, so serene, and he had no swagger; then just for a moment he lost it and the swagger was back, then he went back to solemn. It was so funny, because he does have a built in swagger; he can’t help it. And I love it!

GOP feels left out of Obama inaugural

    By Steve Benen

    —————————————

So, let me get this straight. Republicans spent Obama’s first term on a scorched-earth campaign, hoping to destroy his presidency and nearly everything he proposed. GOP leaders met exactly four years ago yesterday to plot their recovery by obstructing the president wherever possible, and refusing to compromise with Obama on literally anything, even when he embraced Republican ideas — and then they executed that plot without hesitation or shame.

After Obama received another endorsement from the American electorate, members of the shrinking Senate minority heard the president offer a robust defense of his governing vision, and their first reaction is … it lacked “outreach” to the other side?

    Seriously?

This is the America that was lost in ’63 and almost destroyed by ’68.

One man brought us back from the brink. One man stood alone for four years against all odds. For all who stand with our President, we stand with you. For those who would drag us back …………….. FORWARD!!

Whew. Thank God Joe and Jill got back in the car. I’m glad they all got out of their cars, and now I’m glad they’re all back inside! I’m too old for this!

But it’s STILL a happy, happy day. Congrats to the Obamas and the Bidens! Enjoy the rest of the parade!

President Barack Obama was escorted to the reviewing stand by the Armed Forces of the United States, just as President George Washington was. And I weep. And laugh. And love our country, today especially! “One, Today.”

I think the best part of the parade just passed by. POTUS, FLOTUS, VP & Dr. J’s are so the hit of the town. I’m so glad they treated us with a walk down America’s avenue for us all to see up close and personal. They are not governed by fear nor negativity, just happiness, joy, humbleness, and gratitude. We’d do well to try and emulate them in our interactions with others.
