OT: It was NO coincidence that for BOTH of President Reagans inaugurals the temperatures were below zero…..God was trying to tell us Hell had truly frozen over with the election of that man. People who stayed home or Democrats who voted for him are reaping what this man did to this country and only BHO can fix it and turn it around before it’s too late.
Just a slight correction Jojo: Reagan’s 1st inauguration had “warm” temps of 55+ deg. It was his second Inaug which had sub-zero temps.

Watching President Obama deliver his second inaugural address, I was reminded once again that elections really do have consequences.
Four years ago at the same location, Obama invested a fair amount of time in making the case for an improved political process — one in which policymakers “proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas that for far too long have strangled our politics.” It was, he said in 2009, time to “set aside childish things.”
Today, the president seemed far less concerned with process and more concerned with results. Obama’s interest is not necessarily in improving our politics, but rather, in improving our commitments to justice, fairness, and opportunity.

If Obama’s speech today is indicative of how and where he intends to lead the nation over the next four years, there’s reason for optimism. The president could have pursued a more modest, narrow course, but he instead chose an ambitious defense of progressive ideals.

Watching PBO walk is fascinating. He has a certain built in swagger, noticeable even when he takes a few steps. The only other person who has a similar swagger is the star of “White Collar” ( in my humble opinion).
I don’t know White Collar, so I’d have to look the person up that you’re referencing, but I’ve often said to family and friends that PBO, Denzel Washington and Pierce Brosnan can open a school for how to walk. Seriously, they just GOT it!
“White Collar” is a white collar crime who-dun-it on USA. Denzel and Pierce are both sharp but their walking mechanics doesn’t have the rhythm that PBO has.
Each has his own special gifts.
When I saw him walking toward the exit this morning to the dais, down that long walk they were all making, I thought he looks so solemn, so serene, and he had no swagger; then just for a moment he lost it and the swagger was back, then he went back to solemn. It was so funny, because he does have a built in swagger; he can’t help it. And I love it!

That’s interesting tidbit: Rachel is reporting that no one applied for a permit to demonstrate during the Inauguration today. While there were 60000 protesters for Bush’s last inaug.
I think there is more unity around this president than the rwnjs want us to think. The crazies make a lot of noise.
4 years ago the DC police reported that in the 24 hours of Inauguration day there was not one single crime reported in the city. It will be interesting to see if the same happens today.

GOP leaders met exactly four years ago yesterday to plot their recovery by obstructing the president wherever possible, and refusing to compromise with Obama on literally anything, even when he embraced Republican ideas — and then they executed that plot without hesitation or shame.

I think the best part of the parade just passed by. POTUS, FLOTUS, VP & Dr. J’s are so the hit of the town. I’m so glad they treated us with a walk down America’s avenue for us all to see up close and personal. They are not governed by fear nor negativity, just happiness, joy, humbleness, and gratitude. We’d do well to try and emulate them in our interactions with others.
