Put in my two cents. I don’t know ins and outs of posting here, but this is my two cents to her: @annielowrey Never read you before, doubt I’ll ever read you. You are very thin skinned. How do you get sources to talk to you? …..Well, I did it for UT, but you’re on her side Edwina. If anyone wants to give me a link to the ins and outs of posting on this blog, I’d appreciate it. I was going to appointments today, but this cold or virus, whatever I have is dragging me down. I get a little snarky when I don’t feel good, so need to post carefully! ;)

Are we sure we are going to see enough diversity in these appointments. Who will write the next article of complaint? I am so tired of the msm. Thank you UT for your fierce defense. These journalist can’t hold up to their own standards.

Alert! Alert! A federal court has issued a ruling that the 5 NLRB appointments that PBO made while the Senate was in recess is unconstitutional. (Back in December I believe). There is an article at Huff Po. Stating that technically the Senate was “in session” because they gaveled in and out during the recess time. These 5 recess appointments were made the same day Richard Courday was recessed appointed to the Consumer Protection Agency and there is pending federal court case saying that appointmet was also unconstitutional! The Obama Administration is appealing the ruling on the NLRB appointees to the Supreme Court. But if today’s ruling is upheld, this means any action the board has taken since the appointments are null and void. The RWNJ are going to go apeshit over this! Get ready Obots! I for one, am a little worried about all this!

    • 40 hopefruit2
      January 25, 2013 at 12:27 pm

Relax. PBO is a constitutional scholar who knows what he’s doing. This is going to go to supreme ct. Do you see PBO looking like he’s worried while announcing his COS today? He’s there making jokes and all.

Relax, PBO’s got this. To hell with the RWNJ’s. They live for short-term, spurious victories which ALWAYS morph into long-term, profound losses.

    • January 25, 2013 at 12:29 pm

I wouldn’t worry too much about it yet. It’s a lower court, and the Administration will appeal.

    • 42 Linda
      January 25, 2013 at 12:42 pm

Lower courts said Obamacare was unconstitutional too. How did that work out for them ?

    • 45 sabreen60
      January 25, 2013 at 2:41 pm

It seems that many appointments are before the Circuit Courts. Unfortunately, when they rule against PBO, iti further delays the much needed leadership of several agencies. It is slowing down much needed work and this has been going for 4 years. Several federal judge appointments have not been filled. What choice did PBO have, but to fill these appointments via recess. The Republicans put holds on practically all his nominees.

      January 25, 2013 at 2:53 pm

Yep, I was alarmed by this decision, too, but hey, this is just a battle and not the overall war.

Besides, I’ve learned since 2009 that it isn’t wise to rely on the jubliation of the RWNJs because it’s usually short-lived. They are just as politically obtuse as the some of our emo-progressive “friends.”

It’s still nerve-racking but the GOP never intended to bow out gracefully. They will leave kicking and screaming while trying to drag the rest of the country with them.

  9. January 25, 2013 at 12:27 pm

Of course Annie is blocking persons who dear to challenge her, remember she is married to another “know it all” Ezra I can’t stand him and now his wife is just getting on my damn nerve. The thing with these so called journalists is that they think the Prez doesn’t have his supporters who got his back and we are sick and tired of the lies they are spreading about him. It needs to stop

I don’t know who this Annie person is, but I don’t care for her husband at all. He’s just like the snotty, arrogant conservatives I use to argue with when I was in college. The only difference is that he’s liberal. Unfortunately, his liberalism hasn’t made him even more enlightened than most modern-day conservatives. Everytime he appears on MSNBC, I don’t watch.

    • 50 Obama Grandmama
      January 25, 2013 at 10:12 pm

Is this Annie the same woman that complained about PBO’s early appointment for SOS? I remember a woman speaking out about how he skipped over this woman that was entirely qualified that was high up in the Pentagon and on the list that others thought might get it. I also remember her saying she had worked with the woman in the Pentagon before. At the time I felt it appeared like sour grapes on her part due to her friend not getting the position. Shortly after seeing that interview on MSNBC the news was showing the pic spoken of and the news that PBO was not appointing women. I thought I heard the same name mentioned, but am not sure of that.

  10. January 25, 2013 at 12:29 pm

Have zero doubt the President knew they would do this. They need this fight to highlight the fact that just because someone drives to the Capitol and gavels in and out – that, by no reasonable definition, is Congress being in session.

      January 25, 2013 at 12:34 pm

You’re right Bob. This ruling did not hit PBO by surprise. I hope people understand it – even though the MSM will try to make it seem otherwise with their typical headlines “Court delivers a CRUSHING blow to the Obama administration”

Well, we know the drill already. We’ve seen this movie MANY TIMES before. And the ending is NEVER in the GOP or MSM’s favor. Not where PBO is concerned.

        January 25, 2013 at 12:58 pm

Think Progress and GOPolitico have stories about the labor board appointments as well. Over at FukNews.com they have a blazing large type headline “Obama Unconstitutional” with their usual head exploding crap. One detail not mentioned above is that these appointments occured on January 4, 2012. The Senate started it’s session on January 3rd. One positive note is that the Judge (Sentelli)? is right wing appointed one. The Think Progress post provides some insight into the DOJ defense of the appointments that they argued in the D.C. circuit court that made the ruling. I totally trust PBO and his legal team and the DOJ. It just adds to the RWNJ pearl clutching BS!

Great appearance and announcement about the McDonough appointment. You could feel the mutual love, trust and respect between the 2 men. And Stillwater, Mn. redeems itself somewhat. Crazy eyes/crazy lady Michele Bachmann also from there. The sane people there, and it’s a lovely little town by the way, have some of their shame relieved by this highly regarded appointment.

We need to get you on the twitter! :D

It was enlightening to me that even though I engaged Annie Lowrey respectfully, she blocked me because she didn’t have facts to counter her biased article. She kept moving the goal posts and twisting herself with her words. When she admitted that she was happy the disgusting debate of “Obama Hates Women” went on ad nauseam in the media, it revealed a lot. A journalist is supposed to hold high standards and not get petty when challenged. The new type of media folks – who are one step above from gossips some days – think everyone is a Fox News audience and doesn’t understand the issues. It’s insulting to the public and yet they wonder why they are held in such disdain by poll after poll.

      • January 25, 2013 at 1:24 pm

You were completely respectful and more importantly you can armed with facts and facts made her squirm. One thing about these journalists that I try to practice (not always successfully) is to not curse at them or call them names. Because cursing or name-calling gives them a cover when they block you. They can always claim that you were rude to their delicate feelings. Respectfulness and #facts is the best way because it makes them look foolish when they block you. Way to go, UT, I think you did a fabulous job.

    GOP Panic Move Will Backfire

    by BooMan

    ——————————————

Obviously, these changes have the potential to alter the outcome of the 2016 election, but they are not a good substitute for fielding a more appealing candidate. In a very real way, this effort to change the rules smacks of desperation. It not only will galvanize the left for the midterms (so we can try to repeal the reforms), but it delegitimizes the eventual Republican nominee, the Republican Party, and our entire electoral system. Imagine if Romney had become president after losing by four percentage points and nearly five million votes! Does anyone think that would have been a healthy outcome?

But, you may remember, I predicted that this would happen. The GOP does not want to change and they will do what they can to compensate for their increasing unpopularity even if it means bending or outright breaking the rules. They are a neo-fascist party, and quite dangerous.

South Africa maybe ahead on gay rights, they are still firmly behind the US in racial civil rights. I know this from first hand experience having travelled to the country. South Africa’s apartheid system was more rigid than US segregation and as a result, it took 40 additional years for the African National Congress to successfully end it in comparison to the NAACP sucessful fight for civil rights (which was formed around the same time as the ANC).

Yet, this is still embarrassing when it comes to gay rights and at least South Africa is trying to confront their racial issues head-on instead of sweeping them under the rug like we’ve done here in the States. South Africa quickly created a national museum to remember the apartheid days. In America, it’s only now, 50 years after the Civil Rights movement and 40 years after MLK’s death that we have a national memoral in his honor and the Smithsonian is begining work on an African-American museum.
