I am so torn about how this whole Chicago thing has been handled. I would never put this at PBO’s feet no more than I thought he should get involved in the Chicago teacher’s strike as many did. It is sticky for him because the Mayor has close ties to him and imo has not done enough soon enough with this. For many that’s close enough for folks to think PBO should be more vocal. Of course, the minute he gets anymore involved, then he becomes a Chicago Marxist, Mobster, Roger Ailes, Jeremiah Wright protege. Either way, I do understand why it took 20 white kids to die a horrific death for attention to finally be paid to the deaths of children on Chicago’s South Side. If the Sandy Hook deaths can help stop the Chicago deaths, it doesn’t matter that they were the necessary faces of national attention to this matter.
