(((((((Chips))))))))))))) Was just about to sign off
You’re on a roll, Alycee! Thanks Chips, for the new post for the west coast and late nighters!
Hey Theo, how’s your Mom. Tell her hello for me!
My mom’s doing well – heading to California in a few weeks. I’ll pass on your greetings! Thanks!
Congrats on 1st Alycee!!!
Wow! Go Alycee!!
Thanks. BTW, thanks for the retweet.
I’m really good at retweeting.
Here is a soothing jazz link — open link, press red button. http://thejazzgroove.com/
BTW, link is a gift from Yardarm…
Just watching the “West Wing Week”, and I can’t believe the President gets so much done in just a few short days. Last week, he was being celebrated with his inauguration! And seeing the ending with the basketball folks – he really likes to trash talk, doesn’t he?
He just moves smoothly from room to room. He is busy but how does he keep track of all the information he needs to have ready at each meeting? Every speech he reads sounds like he prepared it. He likes to make every event personal to the participants. Those qualities are what amaze me the most about him and make him eternally endearing. Trash talk from him is sweet.
The thing about his investment in every moment is that he gets to enjoy it, as well. And yes, the trash talk is pretty sweet – but I’d hate to be on the receiving end of it…
Hahahahaha….yeah. He does love to trash talk. The video of he and Clark Kellog playing a game of horse (basketball) at the white house is hilarious. He has skills but his mouth just kept running.
I remember Robert McAdoo at the University of North Carolina, he played for the great coach Dean Smith and POTUS is right McAdoo could shoot.

This was great – but, honestly, I didn’t know half the places she visited… It says something about this Administration that they visited so many far off places that barely register on the map. Wonderful!
LOVELY, lovelyplains. thanks for the wonderful wake up
Wow! I can’t imagine a more exhausting job than constantly traveling to different cultures and always being “on.” She’s had to instantly adapt to different climates, languages, foods, expectations and all the time keep negotiating policy and building alliances. I hope she takes a nice long rest, does some things for herself for a change and then takes a deep think about whether or not she wants to subject herself to the grind of campaigning and governing.
Darn, I finally get here after getting caught back there in the last post @ my comment to Bobfr & then DF finding the song I mentioned! Love that song too, DF! Had 2 listen 2 it a few times. Phew! Pardon me, Westcoast TODers, but it was Eddie Kendricks’ Keep on Truckin’ and remember Ruffin? OK & GN!
Hello Chips, hello night owls, wtg Alycee. I spent most of the day with my daughter and grandbaby – heaven in a very small package. I have NO idea how the Sandy Hook parents are coping – I could not.
I am now about to listen to Gov Patrick explain why the pundits got it wrong.
Today, we witnessed the polar opposite of ‘bold and courageous’ from the Senate GOP …
Dear @SenatorReid the behavior of the GOP toward Senator Hagel today substantively demeaned the Senate. cc @whitehouse @SenCarlLevin @VP— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) February 01, 2013
We have a Congress that likely does not have the capacity to even do this …
Make purchasing ammo at least as burdensome as buying Sudafed. #GunsKillPeople— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) February 01, 2013
But, make no mistake how evil the forces against us (humanity) are …
NRA biz model: the more we scare people the more guns & ammo we sell. Dead kids are a small price to pay for mega-profits. #GunsKillPeople— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) February 01, 2013
We are the ones who must be ‘bold and courageous’ because we are the only ones who have proven we can overcome vast amounts of hate and incredible amounts of $$$ to elect, not once but twice, a truly empathetic, ethical, and decisive leader – President Barack Hussein Obama.
Yes We Can
Dear #PBO we should be teaching 1st Graders empathy & critical thinking + the 3Rs, NOT #NRA courses on how to kill. TY @VP @FLOTUS @vj44— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) February 01, 2013
Time for some rest …
Thank you, Chips, once again for this very special community you created.
Bobfr – Thank you for all of your efforts to try to make this a better world.
Love you Dr. Bob! Thank you!
Bob, as always, great tweets! As Gabby said, “too many children are dying” as a result of a few people’s obsession about guns. We the people, who make up the majority, must rise up and put pressure on Congress to enact sensible laws that will put an end to the senseless killings. Yes indeed: “Guns Kill People.”
I am sick and tired of people who think that the entire U.S. Constitution is all about the 2nd Amendment, which, I contend, is misinterpreted. Just as the 1st Amendment (and all Amendments for that matter) is subject to regulated limitations the same should be true of the 2nd Amendment. For example: You can’t falsely “yell fire in a crowded theater” just because you have the 1st Amendment freedom of speech. Likewise, lawmakers as well as courts, routinely regulate the people’s 1st Amendment right to “peaceably assemble to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” Just try to stage a disruptive protest without permit and see if the courts (or the Congress for that matter) agree that you have unlimited 1st Amendment right to protest in any manner you chose.
Love you Nath! Thank you!
Couldn’t agree with you more, nath. Eloquently stated, as always. Thank you!!!
Dudette & Jacqueline – your support and friendship are treasured. Thank you!!!
A late night post! What a treat with pics too. Thanks Chips.
Dear Stupid Pundits on Teevee,
You really expected Chuck Hagel, the nominee of No Drama Obama, to answer questions at a Senate hearing of former colleagues who are now out to get you because of that association, to stand up and say back after the rude and disgusting and despicable questioning, meant to not allow you to get in one word of rational thought, “This is bull shit! Quit talking to me like this! I’m going to talk over you!” ~ and then expect them to vote for your confirmation? Really?
Do you not think that Hagel was properly primed not to react in such a manner by a team of White House advisers?
For those of you pundits who maybe have gone to three or four job interviews in your lives, if that, and probably sat there shaking in your boots, with sweaty palms, hoping you didn’t have to run out and use the restroom before the interview was over, I hereby call you out for your usual idiocy. This is not a teevee show about reality. This is reality. Assholes.
Most sincerely NOT,
Pundits really are stupid.
Every time the pundits appear on these shows, there should be a debriefing or “lessons learned” report on how they did. The people facing them should be members of the viewing public. The resulting “grade” should be either (1) Shape up, or (2) Ship out!
We should have voting buttons on our remote control, with a buzzer or electric shock when the pundits are especially outrageous.
Tase me, bro! (I like how you think, theo67!)
I noticed the meme started yesterday with the pundits and continues, that Hagel was not prepared. How does anyone prepare for deranged repugs like Miss Lindsay Graham and old hateful, vile McCain?
There should also be a chyron disclaimer running under each one of them: “The pundits on this show are not a smart or sincere as they may appear to be. They are paid to attract your attention so our advertisers will pay us.”
Bravo, JO! I know most of us get fixated about the utter insanity coming out of the Republican party, but, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest threat to our country is the mainstream media that revels in sensationalism and propaganda instead of objectively reporting news based on facts.
Thanks. Your humble opinion matches my humble opinion, only I’m getting less and less humble about it!
I am not that far behind you, JO!
Jacquelienoboomer, well said. I hope more people defend Chuck Hagel today.
JOB, fortunately, I don’t watch pundits because, frankly, there is enough hatred and ignorance in the world without subjecting myself to more. From what I’ve seen the one behaving himself with dignity was Chuck Hagel. The Repub senators revealed themselves to be low, vindictive ugly creatures. And, frankly, stupid. While they constantly fan dance for the bigoted few, the rest of the US gape in horror at the creatures who are supposed to represent all Americans in the Senate. We need a massive wake up in this country to the horrors that years of Democratic passivity have created and I hope every time these guys parade their despicable natures in this flagrant way, a few more Americans rub the sleep from their eyes and really see.
^^^^Dear Stupid Pundits, Read THIS^^^ (Well said, as usual, jackie)
I wasn’t able to comment on the previous post for some reason, or catch up, but did anybody else see and discuss the Sandy Hook emergency room doctor who testified in CT on behalf of gun control? If I can find the video tomorrow (from Ed’s show, perhaps?), I’ll post it. He said that in 20 years of working in the E.R., he had never broken out in tears before as a medical doctor, until he saw all of the gun victims from the school … it was compelling testimony, and should be aired for all Americans to see, in my opinion.
It must have been terrible. The same for the police who had to enter the school after the shooting. It’s hard to even think about it.
Yes, it’s not just the individual families that will never forget this tragedy. It’s their whole community.
And it should be all of us, not just some of us.
This is true, Jacq!
I remember when one journalist reported on the Sandusky story and he was very explicit about what actually occurred. Until people get details they are sometimes not able to even imagine what was done. When I read his piece and listened to testimony from the trial, it was shocking. From my imagination of a little locker room inappropriateness to the horror of reality was a huge step. I cried for days over those poor children subjected to that abuse. In Newtown, to first imagine the scenario as a single shot killing those kids to a wholescale massacre 1930′s style with multiple gun shot wounds doesn’t lessen all the other losses but it does provide a huge wakeup call to the reality of what a horrific event occured that day. The stories from first responders need to be told and heard.
To be honest, Jacque O, I really don’t know where Doctors, Police, and Firefighters, get all the human strength to deal with such horrendous and unspeakable human suffering. Although I did not personally witness the Sandy Hook slaughter of children, I still can’t get over the horror of imagining what those 6 and 7 year old children went through. Next to the parents of those precious children I am sure the first responders (Police, firefighters, doctors, and teachers) are paying an enormous price of having to deal with that horror. This is what angers me the most when I see and hear all these gun obsessed people, who have no direct experience with the level of horror that took place at Sandy Hook, going on-and-on, about the 2nd Amendment.
By the way, when it comes to the 2nd Amendment, I even disagree with my beloved President who I respect so much. There is no where in the text of the 2nd Amendment where the right to own guns is conferred to individuals. I of course understand where the President is coming from. The reality is that the Supreme Court ruled in “Heller” that the Amendment conferred the right to own guns on individuals. The Court also said that that right can be subjected to sensible regulation. As President, my beloved President Obama has no choice but follow the rulings of the Supreme Court.
I saw some bits and pieces while I was tending the wood stoves, jacqueline. I thought I was going to be sick watching the horror in his face.
I saw it on the last word – he received a standing ovation – in his 20 years in ER – never was it like this. He also begged that mental health funding – not be cut – again. He wants to be able to talk to his patients about guns – he wants real research – which has not been done because of the “gun lobby”.
I saw that on LOD last night. I broke down in tears. Sobbing tears.
Here is link to the complete public hearing:
Thank you, thank you.
Goodness – almost midnight, and my eyes are rolling. Good night all! Tomorrow’s Friday and Barack Obama is our President!!
Good night theo. Sleep well. We will hold the light for you.
It’s Friday here, already, and ya know: Friday’s good. Goodnight!
good night, Jacqueline
Two special moments in WWW to cherish: Gabby with the palms of her hands on PBO’s face as they embrace ( they have formed a special bond) and the moment when Steve Kroft attempted to greet Hillary first, not even looking at the president, but she put an immediate stop to that by gesturing for the idiot to defer to the president first which is protocol.
Our energizer bunny PBO gets so much done and looks great doing it. Each act shows another aspect of his very appealing personality.

Obama to hit road to push gun violence plan
US President Barack Obama will hit the road Monday to appear with local leaders and law enforcement officials in Minnesota to push his plan to cut gun violence, which faces a tough road in Congress.
Obama will visit Minneapolis, a city that has taken steps to tackle firearms violence, including a background check system similar to one the president is proposing for the entire country.
The president has taken 23 executive actions and challenged Congress to pass new laws, including renewing a ban on assault weapons and closing loopholes that permit 40 percent of gun sales to take place without background checks… [more in the article]

MISS: Just 157K New Payrolls Added In January, But HUGE Upward Revisions To December And November
The jobs report is out for January, and on the headline it’s a slight miss.
157K new jobs is below the consensus estimates of 165K.
The unemployment rate ticked up to 7.9%.
But the report had a lot of good news as well. Last month was revised higher, from 155K to 196K.
And November was revised even higher, from 161K to 247K!

Exactly HF. None of the lazy media stenographers will have the journalistic integrity to challenge SINO Boehner about his DO NOTHING record and refusal to bring up The American Jobs Act. The very fact that this man can send out a tweet, a press release or stand in front of a camera and make such inane statements (and still be treated as a credible opposition party) is a travesty. He’s just talkin loud and sayin nothin. And please spare me the crocodile tears about the jobs council. Some of the jackals were harping on this nonsense yesterday at the briefing. They were wringing their hands about the jobs council (aka carrying water for the GOP) and there was not a word spoken about GOP obstruction and job creation. It’s as if congress has no responsibility to govern. It was a pathetic display. But par for the course.
