As always I am coming here late from work, but I am absolutely sick of the non-stop demonization of Sen. Reid. I may be in a minority at TOD on this issue, but I think it's unfair to blame just the Majority leader on this issue of the filibuster reform, when prominent and seasoned Democrats, including my two Senators from CA, were not entirely on board. I've got to get this off my chest, and I know this might get me in hot water with many people here, but I think the way some people at TOD are singling out Reid for attacks on the filibuster reminds me of the emoprogs' relentless attacks on the President about the public option. In both situations (public option and filibuster), one of the difficulty is that not all the Democratic members of Congress were on board.

They want to be referred to as human beings not by their roles.

My take is this: Most people don't pay attention to an issue unless it hits close to home. If they see how an issue affects THEIR own mother/daughter they might want to do something. Its not to dehumanize women, its to make others care about people they don't know. Like, 'Yeah, this can happen to you and yours'.

Sometimes I don't understand how people think. This tactic is something that a lot of activists and politicians use, now its sexist.
