I don’t know if anyone else has posted this but “Hubris” not only was great ratings for Rachel’s show, she said last night that it was the highest rated documentart that MSNBC ever had!!!! Rachel said there would therefore be many more like it.
What were the ratings? She usually gets about 800k.
Dr. Maddow had 900K viewers for the Hubris Documentary.
She averages about a 1M plus these days. When she was on Drones for about 10 days or so, her rates was in the 800K level.
“there would therefore be many more like it.”
Yup – probably with a focus on Barack Obama, not on the GOP. However, MSNBC can expect that the ratings won’t be as hot if they push that angle.
Indeed, hopefruit. You just know that’s the next step…
GM TODville  Pulchritude Villagers.
Love that word ;) Pulchritude ;)
Where did you come up with that word which describes Chips so well?
I borrowed the word from a TODville Community member here…..Bill, :) I think or one of our Fine handsome men.
(psst Nena… I think it was japa^^^ ;)
In other words, not one of our fine “handsome” men, just one of our men. Although, the way Nena write that, was she implying Bill isn’t a fine handsome man?
I am absolutely certain that Nena was calling ALLLL of our TOD men, both fine & handsome ~ especially you japa :)
Thank you Sherijr……I just about dug myself a hole
Thanks for the rescue.
I love Our Men at TOD…….All of them. I mean it very much. :!:
my pleasure ;)
 All Our Men at TODville are mighty Fine, Handsome, Kind, Thoughtful, Brilliant, Courageous, Etc, etc, etc  Too.
Oh Mine, please forgive me Japa21…..so sorry :(. Sherijr has just reminded me that I had ripped the WORD from you. :(
I knew I stole the word from a TODviller. I had fatuously forgotten from whom.
It was YOU, Japa21. I t’s was from you…….all along. Forgive me?
Nothing to forgive. I was being a jerk even asking the question.
Thank you. You are one Fine, Fabulous, Forgiving man, Japa21. Thank you.

Hikes in health insurance premiums fall; administration credits healthcare law

Good Day everyone and congrats Proud.
The President has sent 100 Green Berets to Mali to assist the French.
A group of soldiers went to train for deployment earlier this week. They made the trip on 6 chartered buses because the military couldn’t afford to fly them….Some of the soldiers will be going to Jibouti.
That bit about the buses is embarrassing. God speed to the soldiers.
As if Illinois didn’t have a big enough gun problem—–a federal appeals court has rejected a rehearing on a case ordering Illinois to allow citizens to carry guns in public. These kind of rulings are infuriating and incomprehensible—-it’s like much of our judiciary has been bought by the gun industry too. More guns, more guns, more guns—–to hell with the consequences and the increased risk to the population.
I guess we’re just reverting to the Wild West.
And the Wild Midwest, etc.
That’s what happens when Republicans stack the courts and stall PBO from nominating judges.
The idiocy of so many who think it’s only about legislation or executive orders. A President can remake the federal courts for generations. Bush was allowed to stack the courts, and they’re stopping PBO from filling the vacancies.
Sociopaths. Every one of them.

At the end of the day, Pres. Obama still has two terms and a legacy that will span centuries. So, burn motherfuckers. Burn.
I’m so sick of that blowhard Whole Food’s CEO, first it was Healthcare reform he was attacking, now this. I am shopping at Trader Joe’s in perpetuity from now on.
You’ll be much happier at TJ’s. And you’ll have some extra money to spend, too.
I’ll see you in Trader Joe’s.
Good day ut. So tell us how you REALLY feel about the mofo’s? :-D
Interesting and sad that so many who may not be supportive of our dearest president don’t mind making a buck on his charisma. G’day y’all.
Yes, there’s that. And we who appreciate it have his charisma for FOUR MORE YEARS. Yeehaw!
Hearing the CEO of Whole Foods being interviewed one time stopped me from shopping there. He is a Ayn Rand nut job.
Make sure you let Whole Foods know why you’re not shopping there anymore. During the last boycott, they got the message. They need to hear it again. This is beyond offensive. It’s racist stereotyping. And it’s entirely brazen, given that most Whole Foods shoppers are Democrats, who support this President.

It’s sad to anticipate, but maybe when some of these folks who feel so safe start to feel the pinch, they’ll get it.
These people are crisis induced blowhards…..Sad may be an understatement.
It’s the working stiffs who will feel the pinch, not the politicians who will never get it.
The problem is that most Americans don’t have a clue what this sequester is all about – apparently, the latest polling (per Randi Rhodes) shows about 72% have no idea what it is. And that’s what the GOP is counting on. When unemployment starts to rise, and the economy starts suffering, they’ll just point to the President’s signature on the sequester law, and ignore the fact that they are the ones who passed the bill because it was supposed to incentivize them into action. Many people just don’t pay attention.

When did the party of fiscal responsibility turn into a bunch of deadbeat penny pinchers?— john miller (@deaconmill) February 22, 2013
The Republicans have never been fiscally responsible. We always need to cut the deficit when a Democrat is in office, after a Republican is voted out?
I know and I agree. Just a case of pointing out their rhetorical hypocrisy, same as below.
When did the party of national security turn into the party of national insecurity?— john miller (@deaconmill) February 22, 2013
There’s a difference between national security and war. I’m going to shut-up, now. :)
We all know that difference, that’s for sure. We have national security when a Democrat (oh, let’s just say someone like the wonderful President Barack Obama) is in the White House. We have war when W and his ilk are in the White House.
It’s official. All Republicans are sociopaths. Every. Single. One:
“The mother of a young man killed in the Aurora, Colo. movie theater massacre told TPM on Thursday she was appalled at the way Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) handled her question about an assault weapons ban at a town hall event in Phoenix. [...]
At Wednesday’s town hall, Teves told McCain that her son, Alex, was killed in the massacre, and she urged the senator to support a ban on assault weapons. McCain responded: “I can tell you right now you need some straight talk. That assault weapons ban will not pass the Congress of the United States.”
You’re right…the Republicans are sociopaths. McCain should have expressed his sympathy, but he just told her the truth. Those cowards in Congress will never pass an assault weapons ban and I’m not certain they should. What is an assault weapon? If they define it, the manufacturers will just modify the weapons. If they try and name them all, the way they did before, the manufacturers will give the weapons a new name. If they will limit the capacity of the magazines, I would think that will do it. Now, will they even have the courage to do that? (…putting my head down and quietly going away…)
I feel your frustration but this is a long term war. Because the war continues, doesn’t mean we don’t continue to fight the battles. I have a problem with this reasoning: just because it won’t be perfect doesn’t mean we shouldn’t move to do something. By this logic, just because people run stop signs doesn’t mean we stop installing stop signs.
There will always be people who find loopholes, and we work to plug them. These are long term wars – if we don’t look like there is some commitment to our problem with gun violence in this country, then we are indeed doomed. handguns are more a problem than the assault weapons (unless for the gangs on the streets of Chicago) but there is no way we can talk in this political climate about handgun reform. But if we see a commitment to thwarting gun violence, we build on that. It may take a decade if not longer. But with each battle that we win, no matter how small, we start to change public perception where eventually responsibility to the rights of the innocent becomes a meme.
They need to know that it’s not ok that they will not pass the assault weapons ban, and that they then offer no reasonable alternative plan. It’s one thing to say you won’t do the right thing, it’s quite another when you have face the consequences – and that’s going to be down to the American people to show them the consequences.

Margaret Carlson and Mrs. Greenspan are agreeing Marco Rubio has done “everything right” and has turned the water bottle incident into a positive. They both say he has had an excellent trip to Israel and Jordan. We no longer have reporters, but the MSM is going to sell Rubio to no one as hard as they try.

Obama Has a Deficit Reduction Plan and Republicans Don’t
By Matthew Yglesias
What Chait doesn’t note is that this particular mode of BipartisanThink has a particularly egregious problem because not only have Republicans been intransigent they’ve never produced a deficit reduction plan. Somewhere on the road to crowning Rep. Paul Ryan the champion of spending discipline, people seem to have forgotten that over the next ten years Ryan’s budget would reduce Medicare spending by $0. Outside of the formal framework of the Ryan budget, Republicans have repeatedly suggested that we should increase short-term Medicare spending by eliminating Medicare cuts associated with the Affordable Care Act. The Ryan budget allegedly reduces fiscal problems over the long-term by slowly phasing-in Medicare cuts starting 11 years in the future. But within the medium-term window, Republicans have never put forward a deficit reduction plan. They’ve simply suggested the vague-but-politically-convenient concept that this can be achieved without raising taxes on anyone or cutting spending on any of the currently elderly or the military.
GIVE THE TEXAN TIME
Taking McCarthyism literally
Though Cruz is nowhere near McCarthy’s level — give the Texan time, he only joined the Senate last month — the accusations are not without merit. We saw repeated examples of this during Cruz’s campaign against Chuck Hagel’s Defense Secretary nomination, which led Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) to recently note, “It was really reminiscent of a different time and place, when you said, ‘I have here in my pocket a speech you made on such and such a date,’ and, of course, nothing was in the pocket. It was reminiscent of some bad times.”
It was a trick Cruz leaned on repeatedly to question Hagel’s loyalty and patriotism, going so far as to suggest, without evidence, the former Republican senator may have received unreported funds from foreign enemies of the United States.
But Jane Mayer reports today that it wasn’t too long ago that Cruz delivered a speech at a Fourth of July weekend political rally, sponsored by the Koch brothers’ political group, accusing Harvard Law School of harboring secret Communists on its faculty
LadyHawke, I love Jane Mayer. She is one of the best investigative reporters out there. I just read that Cruz article. May I suggest reading her expose’ on the KOCH brothers and another one is her takedown of Zero Dark Thirty.
LP, I could not agree more. Jane Mayer does exemplary reporting all the time. She is just terrific. I am familiar with her amazing article on the Koch Brothers. I will check out her takedown of Zero Dark Thirty.

Thinning GREASY hair. That’s the part that sickens me. Yuck. People wasted a vote on Cruz. Un-freakin-believable.

Brooks was quoting Woodward. I agree with Linda. Woodward seems to be after the bucks with his books. Bernstein, however, has interesting things to say.
Woke up late, had not read the column, just linked to the lame response to the backlash. Apparently he was parroting Boehner and GOP talking points they have been pushing all week about who suggested the sequester.
David Brooks is an asshole. Look at the first line of his answer to the first question. The rest of his excuses are just as foolish. How the hell is this moron not fired?

Let me ask this first. You want to call my cell phone. I could walk you through it in 2 minutes, if not we will go this route
I’m just wondering if I have the program. I don’t have a URL, so how could anyone retweet my tweets on TOD? I looked it up on wiki and it is what I thought it was. Also, I have a touch screen iPad. The first DM you sent to me and I thought I replied to took me to a twitter page I don’t normally get. I RT, but you didn’t get. Bob has gotten them before. Some people have a DM when I click on their little black head on their ME page, but you don’t have it. I’ll call if that’s easier, I just thought I would explain what I couldn’t in a tweet. Thank you so much for trying to help me.
you dont need any program, just a mouse or cursor. lets make this simple call 317-402-6049 my name is terrick btw, and I have no problem explaining this, it would be very easy over the phone b/c we could be looking at the same thing instead of refreshing pages. Wouldnt take long at all.
Ok, but I don’t have a mouse or curser.
Lots of tweets I haven’t read yet. ;)
