IMO this point you made is a very legitimate one to include in your letter to the Rep, maybe in the conclusion…. or introduction.
‘it’s hard to be respectful sounding when they disrespect the will of the people.’ As in something like…”I confess it was/is/took an effort to be respectful when you consistently disrespect the will of the people, but I tried because these issues are truly important and as the representative of everyone in this district I need you to consider all our positions. (Until the next election) elected leaders have a responsibility to be attentive to the needs of ALL their constituents, morally and actually. “
