Good Morning Ms. Chips. You are strong and positive. I just finished reading some of the comments on Twitter’s #AskFLOTUS. The nastiness, misinformation, racism and just plain stupidity was breathtaking. Imagine how strong FLOTUS must be.
Lots of ignorant hatefulness—-most questions seemed to be about her vacations and bday party. Lots of venom, spurred on by hate radio and FOX, no doubt—-saw Laura Ingraham chiming in with bitter, nasty questions.

Whoa! That’s a good point. Can we change that?
It’s the bedrock of the Constitution. The House is supposed to represent population and the Senate is to represent the states, regardless of size. On its face, it appears to make sense. But it has given unfair control of small states over the trajectory of the nation.
Can it be changed? In a word, no. It would be a major re-writing of the Constitution and we won’t get the 3/4 of the states to ratify. The same problem with the God damned electoral college, which is completely nonsensical in the 21st century (the 20th century, the 19th century….)
Pretty mindblowing stat, I understand the different needs of states i.e. Alaska compared to NY, but it’s just the definition personified of why our Senate as an institution is worthless.
Indeed, Lovely Plains. This part of the Constitution that guarantees each state two Senators is very undemocratic. Thus Wyoming with half a million people gets the same number of Senators as California with 38 million people.

The first question from the AP implies President Obama is a hypocrite because he has had meetings with Republicans but OFA is calling out Republican Party intransigence. The claim is that there is a mixed message. Unbelievable. More process obsession from the jackals. Next the question is about bad OPTICS. How can President Obama possibly speak to the OFA group. You know, it just doesn’t look good. Jay is handing his responses with aplomb.
Republicans have groups and organizations all over this country, and suddenly they are concerned about an organization to promote the President’s policies; such hypocrisy. I was happy when Jay asked that reporter if she was still using a manual typewriter, when she asked about the budget.

Wasn’t that great. I just love Jay Carney. That was a beautiful response to Mara Liasson’s bellyaching about the budget. The jackals are so lazy they can’t even look at the whitehouse.gov website. I like the fact that Jay said well PBO meets with lots of organizations that are working on issues that he supports. He meets with the DNC, DSCC, and the DCCC too – so what’s the problem all of a sudden.
Clearly, the Republican Party is shaking in their boots and they got the word out to the jackals to make a stink about it. It’s laughable. So now we have to tie President Obama’s hands so he can’t even promote his own agenda with a POLICY GROUP. OFA is not promoting candidates in elections, they are promoting PBO’s “AGENDA”. And they plan to identify donors.
Could you imagine with all of the news that needs to be addressed there were at least 6 questions obsessing about OFA.. And to hear Chuck Todd clutching his pearls about some imagined conflict of interest with OFA was nauseating. Actually, I was really surprised that not one of the jackals asked Jay about Donald Trump’s offer to pay for the White House tours. Now there’s some real news for ya. The jackals are slipping. This is what passes for journalism these days. Unbelievable…..

FLOTUS is fantastic on Rachael Ray. What’s the latest fave show she watched? DOWNTON ABBEY! She said she was so sad at the two major characters that were killed off and she can’t wait for the next season.
I Hi-5 her TV selection. Downton Abbey is a kick ass show and Maggie Smith’s wig snatching moments are the stuff of legends.
Isn an awesome show. My sister hooked me into that. I watched the first 2 seasons on Netflix and then the 3rd on PBS. I can hardly wait until it comes back on.

Obama leaves her little unexpected notes that are so sweet, that he goes all out for Valentine’s Day and that he loves giving her flowers and will give her gifts that he put a lot of thought into and it doesn’t even have to be a special occasion. *Sigh* May we all be blessed with a Barack Obama.
She also said one of the items on her bucket list is to visit all the national parks in the U.S. and she wants to visit New Orleans again and visit Austin because it’s the music capital of the U.S.
She is bang on about Austin. This city celebrates such diversity of music, music festivals, bands. It is a music lover’s heaven.

Barbara and Bill Geddes (Exec. Producers) did the same thing when they axed Star Jones a few years back. But Star wasn’t willing to play their “saving face” game and blasted Barbara WaWa on the air by announcing her departure live on the air before they could come out and say “we are so sorry to see Star go, but she has other things she would like to do…….”. Check out Elizabeth’s face this morning. She is gone and not by choice. Wait for it…….

Hi all! I’ve been lurking…quietly. But if you don’t mind, I need to bitch a little.
I never watch Andrea Mitchell. Why did I do so today? Heaven help me…she pisses me off! If I hear one more idiot say the President cried wolf regarding the sequester, I’m going to scream, because the sequester is alive and well where I am. You already know I have a house full of kids because soldiers needed to make arrangements for childcare. They are on twelve hour shifts that begin before centers even open because civilians have been already been furloughed or dismissed. Who can afford that kind of childcare? Not to mention that the kids are asleep when they leave and ready for bed when they get home.
You know, of course that soldiers who are in school either have to figure out how to foot the bill themselves or drop out. I consider the help with education to be a benefit and a benefit is part of one’s pay. So as far as I’m concerned, that’s a cut in pay.
Then there is my little neighbor who was scheduled to leave for Korea. The children have been withdrawn from school, packed up and moved a thousand miles away, registered for school in another city with grandparents. The movers came and packed up every fork and spoon and she took her car to the port 200 miles away to be shipped. This morning they told her she would not be going to Korea. They will not be returning to unpack, nor will they be helping to get her kids back home. I don’t think any of these people feel like the President cried wolf. They make me SICK!!!
Faypax, I too am concerned about real folks and the sequester. I’ve been calling my congressman to urge a speedy end to this disaster for ordinary people.
FayPax, tell your neighbor NOT to take the word of sea/sand lawyers (namely her friends); if her house was packed up and moved on orders and the orders were subsequently cancelled, they will move her belongings back to her quarters (whatever household she’s establishing at her duty station). If the orders were merely delayed, they will store her household goods. If she moved her kids on the orders, and the orders were cancelled, they’ll pay travel back to her duty station; I forget what the policy is if the orders are delayed. In any case — don’t even take my word for it; tell her to do her own research in the “Joint Travel Manual;” have it at her manpower/disbursing/quartermaster office. She should have them show her where it says “NO;” then do her own research further in the same chapter because further on it will probably address exceptions and waivers…
Alycee, I know that is normal procedure, but according to her they have “lost their minds” since sequestration kicked in. She’s been in 12 years so she’s no rookie. She left here on her way to JAG, so no doubt she’ll get it squared away…but who needs the frustration. I’ll let you know the outcome.
Yeah, I’m acquainted with the “lost their minds” brigade. The Joint Federal Travel Regulations should not be effect by the sequester. Orders can be issued, modified, or cancelled, but the PROCESS for dealing with the various circumstances should be unaffected.
When I was at the bottom end of the totem pole, I had an admin chief and personnel officer who took real delight in the “NO!!!!” As I progressed through the ranks, I always looked for the legal way to say “YES!!!!” By time I was a commanding officer, my folks knew that if dealing with a junior member and the answer was NO, they needed help that member complete waiver form.
Well, you already know it could be somebody just trying to put the screws to her. Some officers delight in that, as you know. Seems to be a particular problem with the females. I’d be in the brig in a week.

Dear TODobots, do you remember my starting my TOD day saying I won’t let anything impinge on my TODville happiness? Well, wouldn’t you know the gremlins didn’t like THAT, so they have created a problem. Sigh. A girlfriend ask if she could store some (changing homes) things here until she gets her own place and so we head to the basement with her first carload …..to discover it’s flooded. Now it wasn’t flooded last night when offspring went to the freezer for ice cream (at least he mentioned no water) so I’m not sure what this is all about. I’m currently awaiting the plumber to check things out. In the meantime I’m giving the gremlins an evil eye while trying to hold on to my happiness that Ms C is ‘back’.

x2 57F – Plumber hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m not going to get depressed.
I’ve decided that it’ll be ‘easier’ to throw out the boxes that are damaged, thereby getting rid of some of the stuff stored there. I lifted offspring’s keyboards off the ground but left the suitcases that we use for travel. I figure the wheels should keep them out of the water. My bookcases of books will be dealt with after – will save those that weathered the ‘storm’ and discard the rest. I’m thinking this is a way to get me to declutter.
We have periodic purges via basement floods. And we always vow to never let the basement get full of junk again…….

Hi Hf! Plumber’s been, gone and couldn’t help, but I had to pay for the use of his truck and the fact he came, plus the requisite taxes. I’ll have to speak to the town tomorrow, til then I’m playing it cool.
Did he at least tell you what might the problem be and what should be your next step in the process? After all he happily took the money for the truck, visit and taxes.
