Security was tight in Israel. He will have trouble walking in Jordan. I do trust King Abdullah and his Queen Rania. I have admired her for a long time. http://www.queenrania.jo/ I hope posting the link to her website doesn’t mess things up for Chips. I wonder if she has met FLOTUS? Nothing on speech, presentation of POTUS medal, nothing. Wonder what he had for evening news? No, I could care less. But the tweets about him are usually a hoot. Take care LL. Best to the Missus. :)

Had anyone notice that Chuckie Todd was very silent yesterday. Kind of like he did when he was off paling around with that Ohio SOS agreeing with him that it’s okay to take away certain people’s vote.

            • March 22, 2025 at 9:00 am

I don’t think they truly thought it was funny - this was their attempt to save face. It was hugely embarrassing, and the Twitter mockery UpChuck received afterwards must have humiliated him - which is why he reacted by making that comment about people using Twitter to work out their “anger issues”

Kevin Rudd has ruled out any return to the Australian Labor Party leadership, as ructions continue after Thursday’s abortive ballot.

In a statement, Mr Rudd said there were “no circumstances” under which he would seek the party’s top job.

His comments came a day after he chose not to contest a vote aimed at ending debate over who should lead the party into September’s election.

Since then a number of his supporters have been sacked or stepped down.

Simon Crean, a senior minister whose actions forced Prime Minister Julia Gillard to call the ballot, has been sacked.

Front-bencher and former Immigration Minister Chris Bowen has resigned from the cabinet and at least three other officials have stepped down from senior party roles.

They keep their seats, however, leaving Labor’s paper-thin majority intact.

Media hyped it - but Rudd was too stupid to say anything before Crean decided to bring down his own government. Now the media is screaming that Julia MUST call an election - if I was her I’d put it off as long as possible - as she can.

She’s never had alot of support from her own - not good to be black or a female in so called “democracies”.

There are rare times when Huffpost kicks it right out of the ballpark. This is one of those times.

These videos also explain about about Chris Matthews. No wonder I gave up on Chris “You Liberals Are Always Complaining About America” Matthews a long time ago. And now, he’s trying to play it off as if he always opposed the Iraq War.

The painful truth is that the MSM was complicit in Iraq War. Instead of doing their jobs, they lazily accepted the lies given to them by the Bush Administration (and this even includes the “liberal” and “progressive” voices). If they had done their jobs, the Iraq War could have either been prevented or significantly shortened. This is why a free and objective press is critical to a democracy. How can voters make informed decisions when they are given bad information by a compliant press?

However, this streak won’t last and it’s only a matter of time before Huffpost goes back to its usual firebagging nonsense.

    For the football fans

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights believes football is behind the times and must “catch up” with modern society on social issues.

Navi Pillay, who grew up and worked as a lawyer in Apartheid South Africa, is also concerned women remain severely under-represented within the game.

She said: “It is time for football to catch up with 21st century values of respecting diversity.”

And she added football “has to respect human rights law”.

“Shooting at Quantico Marine base leaves 3 dead, including suspect ”

    http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/22/us/virginia-quantico-shooting/index.html

The first sign of trouble came in a call late Thursday. There was a shooting at a Virginia Marine base, and the suspect was holed up in a room in the barracks.

The notification of the initial shooting came about 11 p.m., at which point authorities found one dead victim, according to Agustin Solivan, a Marine Corps spokesman.

Law enforcement officials entered the room two hours later and discovered the shooter dead of a self-inflicted wound. Another victim was in the room with him, fatally shot.

It was unclear whether the three knew each other, but they are all Marines, according to Solivan.

Thanks for all the pictures, videos, summaries and links that have been provided about President Obama’s trip to Israel.

It is a delight to see how people in other countries appreciate the treasure that we have in President. The tributes and honors help to distill the false negativity that the US MSM try to associate with President Obama…highlighting the incompetency and idiocy of our media.

I’m sure that this trip, while not a vacation, was a welcome break from the dysfunction of Congress. Continued prayers for our President during his travels and for a safe return home.

    • 137 jackiegrumbacher
      March 22, 2025 at 7:54 am

SW, I’ve been trying to find this out. I did hear that the ten didn’t think the Ryan budget had gone far enough to the right. If so, we have ten true madmen in the US House. If they thought it went too far, then we have potential candidates for the coalition of common sense. All R’s knew that the budget wold go nowhere in the Senate and would never be signed into law, so, in a sense, it was a non-risk vote. They could “look good” to their TP constituents and not have to deal with the real world consequences of the Ryan fiasco budget.

Linda, I was basing the 10 on this article:

        ========

‘Senate Democrats on track to pass budget’

By ANDREW TAYLOR | Associated Press

        —-

The GOP budget proposal, similar to previous plans offered by Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., demonstrates that it’s possible, at least mathematically, to balance the budget within a decade without raising taxes. But to do so Ryan, his party’s vice presidential nominee last year, assumes deep cuts that would force millions from programs for the poor like food stamps and Medicaid and cut almost 20 percent from domestic agency budget levels assumed less than two years ago.

Ryan’s plan passed the House on a mostly party-line, 221-207 vote, with 10 Republicans joining Democrats against it.

Hi Annie - I don’t think about that one - nightmares - but it bothers me that so many from both parties joined the warmongering in 2002 - and in my country as well - Our PM jumped in to support George Bush on day 1.

Lots of talk about the people of Israel having to reject war - but many times the people in western countries reject war - and the government carries on regardless. Somehow the world looks so different in Congress - or parliaments - very weird.

I say, fuck the bankers and their precious shareholders and let the chips fall where they may.

They had their own currency - Europe’s problem is every country using the euro can bring down the others - NEVER should they have created the euro - Germany and to a lesser extent some of the others - are carrying the whole European economy - and presumably they don’t like it.

Reality of modern civilization - a country has to have control of their own currency. Greece in particular, could have revalued and sorted itself out - but no control over their currency made that impossible.

If my government suggested taking 10% of my savings - I would not be happy - but if they devalued the currency by 10% - same end result without even having to ask me.

They should drop the euro - those who stayed out were thinking beyond the ease of travel.

I think someone was asking earlier: PBO will be spending the night in Jordan and departing for home tomorrow.

Will the Press be riding with POTUS to Jordon? I think they should make Chuck “GOP” Todd walk to Jordon or back to America. :)

Chuck Toddler is already in Jordan. He gave an update on the President’s trip this morning from Jordan. He looked so sad !! He’s mad because the President’s trip has been a smashing success!!

[OT, but a fascinating piece by Smartypants on Brennan, & drones ending up w/ Hagel. In actuality, when all is said done, Smartypants says PBO would have ended 3 wars, yep 3!]:

President Obama picked John Brennan to head the CIA for a reason - he had a job for him to do.

“Brennan is leading efforts to curtail the CIA’s primary responsibility for targeted killings. Over opposition from the agency, he has argued that it should focus on intelligence activities and leave lethal action to its more traditional home in the military, where the law requires greater transparency.”

    /////

[…..] Overall I see two HUGE takeaways from this story. First is the fact that John Brennan would take the job at CIA only to turn around and give up the agency’s authority to operate a program like this. Many have noted that once President’s are given executive power, they are loath to give it up. I would suggest that the same thing goes for the people who are in charge of federal agencies. This is a big move on both President Obama and Brennan’s part. And I’m sure the backlash in the agency is going to be brutal.

The second is that it is clear to me that this is the first step in a bigger plan to acknowledge what Jeh Johnson said back in November…we’re reaching the tipping point where the war on al Qaeda can end as an “armed conflict” and be institutionalized as a counter-terrorism strategy with transparency and oversight.

In other words, by the end of President Obama’s second term, he will have ended THREE wars…the 3rd being the one everyone assumed would be indefinite.

    Massive Support for Background Checks
A new Quinnipiac poll finds that 88% of voters nationwide support universal background checks before allowing purchase of a firearm while just 10% are opposed.

More interesting is that 85% of gun owners are also in favor.

Meanwhile, Roll Call reports that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-VA) said that background checks would be included in the gun control bill he brings to the floor.
