Regarding NPR’s interview with VP Biden yesterday…I was in my car why I heard it. If you did not hear it please listen to it: http://www.npr.org/2013/03/20/174880882/interview-with-vice-president-joe-biden
You can read the transcript, but listen to it…I was so angry with Melissa Block and her rude treatment of Joe. It was like she was given GOP talking points to throw at the VP.
This question had me at “well”, but our VPs response was great.
Block: Well when you say it does save people’s lives there has to be some sort of calculus here, right? There has be to be some point where you say, is the number of lives that we save, does that outweigh the burdens and restrictions we put on millions of Americans. How do you draw that conclusion?
Biden: Tell me what the burden is that you have to buy three clips with 10 rounds versus one clip with 30. The cost is the same. What is the burden? What am I doing to infringe on your constitutional right? You can think of a thousand burdens we put on people that, in fact, are [INAUDIBLE] impact positively on society. It is one thing if you can tell me the burden is onerous. First of all, the vast majority of gun owners are not running around with clips that hold 30 rounds. There is no good data. Here’s part of the problem. Part of the problem is when the authorization had to be renewed for much of this in 2004, restrictions were placed on the ability of the government even to keep data.
I encourage all of you to listen to the interview…it was hostile.

Very emotional moment—when PBO went “off script” and said he had just talked to a group of young Palestinians—and he heard a lot of the same things that he hears from his own daughters—-and if Jewish parents had a chance to talk to these kids too, they would see the similarities with their kids, they would want the same thing for these kids that they want for their own, they would want the same success for those kids they want for their own. An Obama teaching moment. An important one.
I’m crying my eyes out, listening to our President in Israel. What a brave man, bringing truth to young and old Israelis. He never takes the easy path, but he speaks from his soul to all peoples around the world, with whom he shares his personal message and a shared interest in peace and prosperity. We have a courageous and strong President, and I rejoice in that. God bless him, his travels, and his safe return back to us. These young people in Israel are getting a touch of what we see, and I know many will take that into their hearts.
Having a busy day today, so see y’all later. Just wanted to share his magnificent speech with my TOD O’friends.
This is an absolutely riveting and powerful speech. Forget the US Media – don’t rely on THEIR interpretation. Watch the speech and see and learn for yourself.
I haven’t been able to watch the speech live but from what you all are reporting, this is EXACTLY the kind of speech I thought he would give to those young people. Vintage Obama.
May God bless President Obama. He has such a great heart and such a beautiful soul.
It’s so heart-breaking for me that he doesn’t get the respect he deserves. But it’s not surprising. In history, men and women who preach love and understanding, men and women who have the power to wake up the hearts and souls, men and women who have the potential to be game changers have ALWAYS been viciously attacked.
This speech is amazing. He’s using a human image and personal stories to make the students know that they have to fight for a two state solution because it is the right thing.
POTUS ask if he could go down to the audience and the SS must have said No. I’m glad they did. Hay after listening to that speech, do anyone remember some heckler. I don’t. Wow! What a speech. I am so sad that his Mom or Grandparents could be alive to see him.

Obama doing in Middle East what he's doing at home: appealing directly to people over heads – and in defiance – of politicians. @BBCNewsUS— Paul Adams (@BBCPaulAdams) March 21, 2013
Ten years after the start of the U.S. invasion in Iraq, doctors in some of the Middle Eastern nation’s cities are witnessing an abnormally high number of cases of cancer and birth defects. Scientists suspect the rise is tied to the use of depleted uranium and white phosphorus in military assaults.
On the war’s ten-year anniversary, Democracy Now! spoke with Dahr Jamail, an Al Jazeera reporter who recently returned from Iraq. Jamail recounts meeting Dr. Samira Alani, a doctor in the city of Fallujah focusing on the issue of birth defects.
She said it’s common now in Fallujah for newborns to come out with massive multiple systemic defects, immune problems, massive central nervous system problems, massive heart problems, skeletal disorders, babies being born with two heads, babies being born with half of their internal organs outside of their bodies, cyclops babies literally with one eye — really, really, really horrific nightmarish types of birth defects.
Jamail says that the current rate of birth defects for the city of Fallujah has surpassed those of Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the nuclear attacks at the end of World War II.

Question: For those with Macs or Macbook Pro, after I do a screen shot and it appears on the desk top, how do I crop and save it to my documents or pictures? Thanks.
I have Photoshop Elements and it’s been a while since I’ve done a screen shot but if you save it as a .jpg, then I think you can use the crop tool in preview, which is the program that opens it up when you click on it. So:
Open the shot
Go to File menu
Click on Save As
Pull down the menu (probably says PNG) and save as a jpg.
Go to Tools and click on crop.

Speech “rapturously received”
Time for our media to grow up and get real, stop hiding behind bigotry and corporate owners.
Amen.
Gee, if Republicans could only use this speech against PBO to make him a one-term……
Oh, wait……..
VP Biden is live now.
Extremist will say PBO “throws Israe under the bus”
And the extremists will be doing what they do best……LIE.
I would LOVE for a world-renowned classical composer (musician) to create a symphony with “movements” symbolizing PBO’s greatest foreign and domestic speeches.
Brilliant idea, Hopefruit. Maybe Philips Glass will take you up on it. He likes to take on challenges. He even wrote an opera in Sanskrit.
Biden is awesome -
Bingo! What a heck of a way to make a living!!!!! To the politicians!!!
I see that the WHLive is doing their own live-tweeting of PBO’s speech. Not leaving it up to hacks like Mark Knoller…. Very smart move.
I missed it – office stuff got in the way, dang it! I have/had no doubt that this would be fantastic! This is my POTUS we are talking about here!
Will catch up later. #proudObamabot
VP Biden is raining down truth. Thank goodness he’s not giving up. These are peoples lives and they matter.
I hope the cowardly DEMS in the senate are taking notes. Our VP Biden is highly committed, and something tells me he’s is not going to back down any time soon. He is just getting started.
I heard that my Senator from N.C. didn’t support the assault weapon ban, Senator Kay Hagan will hear from me today.
wanna bet he’ll land in pox news some day ?
How cool is it that we can cyberstalk for photos of the presidential visit on Isreal Priminister Facebook page.
He aced it. Par for the course.
Gunnite folks.
Good sleep to you AMK

Okay. Good morning All of Y’all! Whew. Have been so out of it after this fractured knee experience, not even able to be worried about missing thread after thread after thread… or ever catching up. Am about to go and have a wee rest, have been up for hours, am learning how amazing it is to have a disability: crutches do not allow you to carry a cup of hot tea in one hand, oh my goodness. Bye for now, will try to get back later on. {{{{{Chipsticks}}}}} {{{{{PBO}}}}} {{{{TOD}}}}
Oh, no! So sorry you’ve boinked your knee. Take it easy, Pamela.
What’d you do, Pamela? You okay? Sending healing energy your way.
Yikes! Sorry about your knee Pamela! Be careful and get some rest!
{{{{{{ MightyPamela }}}}}}
Sorry to hear of your knee injury. Where playing Mighty Mouse Pamela?
Wow, Miss Israel is gorgeous!
Do they have the Miss Universe anymore? I started to say Miss America, which is the one that racists birther runs?.
I think the motorcade just arrived.
false alarm I guess..
