Glad to see you, OMF! Since you are working more (with the resultant increased ‘benefits’), when should I expect a dinner invitation to a ‘posh’ restaurant, possibly coupled with a night on the town? If you don’t wait too long I may be able to get double duty from the bridesmaid dress Chips is purchasing for me.

Van Jones was in for a rude awakening on Twitter. This is not 2010. The emoprogery crap is tired. We are TIRED. He only recanted because of the massive pushback and humiliation on Twitter – otherwise he would have carried on with his dishonest column bashing PBO as if nothing had happened.

I can’t take credit – Arapaho was the person who initially brought Part 1 to my attention earlier tonight, and I was greatly appreciative.

I have yet to understand why majority of Dems do not automatically give PBO the benefit of the doubt in any, and every, situation. It makes no sense to me that he would have fought so hard for the middle class and shown his heart for people repeatedly, and then turn around and ‘stab them in the back’ or whatever other asinine terminology emoprogs choose to use.

VC, great thanks to Arapaho and you for sharing this with Chips so that she may share it with all of us. As for the Democrats, most them have no sense of history and are easily fooled by the so called progressive loudmouths, many of whom exploit their media megaphones to incite fear, just because they hate President Obama. I think they hate President Obama because he does not bow to them when making decisions about governing. It should now be plainly obvious that every time the holier than thou progressives freak out and start attacking President Obama, they are usually doing so on the basis of group think and false information and not on meticulous analysis of his policies.

I was too, JOB, especially her work in championing what eventually became AFDC. I also know that her SS proposals were more far reaching than what eventually emerged as the Social Security Act of 1935. FDR had to compromise with the Dixiecrats to get the Bill passed. I am glad that LO pointed out FDR was no rabid, holier than thou, leftists despite today’s holier than thou leftist mythology about him. FDR was a practical politician who compromised all the time in order to make some progress.

I was wondering if anyone was going to post this. It was the most amazing Rewrite ever. I hope the hand wringers also watched this too. SS has been evolving for decades from inception. You think from the Bernie-Sander-hand-ringers that SS began and stayed the same for centuries. I know that PBO will not harm the elderly poor. It was also fascinating to learn that the new sector of our population that is in poverty is children. This should be eradicated. A country like ours should not have object poverty of poor children.

It is likely the President’s budget will never reach fruition, but it does signal to voters, and Democrats, that his campaign promises and agenda from his State of the Union are still front and center as a means of creating jobs, rebuilding the middle class, and rejuvenating the austerity-crippled economy. The President readily admitted it is not his ideal budget, but it contained, as Mitch McConnell said, “another left-wing wish list” that sadly, hardly any Democrats noticed because they were so laser focused on those ten letters, C-h-a-i-n-e-d C-P-I, to recognize that, like the Center for American Progress’s budget, it contained everything Progressives have dreamt of for the past thirty years.

AMK, It’s absolutely amazing to see all this hair on fire, freak-out, from Democrats. President Obama has been nothing but consistent! He is focused on advancing a Democratic agenda, but he has to deal with the reality that Democrats do not control Congress. This requires that he try to creatively find a way of compromising with Republicans while protecting programs Democrats care about. In the House of Rep., Democrats are a minority; and in the Senate they don’t have a super majority to beat back McConnell’s constant filibusters. On top of that, the President is aware that there are Democrats representing Red States like Alaska, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota and West Virginia, who are not going to support an extreme liberal agenda.

It’s vey sad that he has to put up with Democrats like Bernie Sanders from liberal Vermont, one of the smallest states in the Union, who are being given a platform by the media to attack him as if tiny Vermont truly represented the entire United States.

Thank you, thank you, Chipsticks for posting LO’s re-write highlighting the amazing woman, Frances Perkins! This is the most informed discussion on Social Security I’ve ever seen on American television! The video clip must be shared widely with as many people as possible. One thing I wish Lawrence had mentioned was how FDR agreed to water down SS to exclude Agricultural and Domestic workers in order to win the support of Dixiecrats –today we call them “Blue Dogs” Democrats. If FDR had stood on principle and refused to remove Agricultural and Domestic workers from being covered by SS, Congress, which had a sizable group of Dixiecrats, would not have enacted the Social Security Act of 1935. Imagine trying to pass a Social Security Act, today, in a Republican dominated House of Representatives and the filibuster intoxicated GOP minority in the Senate; not to mention the holier than thou progressives who would not accept any compromises.

Lawrence did exactly what I have been pinning for these pundits or the MSM to do. I don’t ask them to sway the public in one direction or the other. They simply should educate the public with facts that we wouldn’t otherwise know. Then with that knowledge we can push back with facts things like the erroneous comment that Van Jones made. You see Jones believed his own liberal press. He believed the things that were being repeated on Liberal sites as being truth. He spouted off with presumed facts instead of actual facts. Now he has to retract some of his commentary.

The most complete view yet of a possible human ancestor uncovered in South Africa has revealed an intriguing mix of human and ape traits.

The two-million-year-old remains of several partial skeletons belonging to a previously unknown humanlike species were found in 2008 near Johannesburg.

The new analysis shows this species – Australopithecus sediba – had a human-like pelvis, hands and teeth, and a chimpanzee-like foot.

The findings appear in Science journal.

Van Jones, Sanders, and many others operate from the perspective of ideology. Not of governing. President Obama is trying to push for a balance approach where everybody has to sacrifice a little. This is the only approach that in the end could win a majority of americans.

The screamers are not thinking of the devastating effects of the sequester. They are absolutely useless.

What’s sad is that all the media will quickly put a poll in the field and sure enough, because of the left, the President numbers will go down a bit and this will become the story.

The people suffering from the effects of the sequester ? Nobody’s talking about them. The President’s progressive elements in the budget, like the closing of loopholes, the increased budget for R&D, for early childhood education, etc. Nobody is interested.

The media always gives a megaphone to ideologues. The pragmatic voices are lost in the noise.

Sometimes, I wish President Obama would invite all those ideologues at Camp David for a week-end, give them all the numbers (aging of the population, SS and Medicare costs for the next twenty years, etc.), and ask them what is their solution. And what solution CAN PASS CONGRESS.

I’ve discovered in the past four years that most of the national political conversation is based on ideology, emotions, distortions, confusion, and downright lies. Sometimes it’s like only the President can present things in a rational, pragmatic, and BASED ON REALITY way.

    • 97 hopefruit2
      April 12, 2013 at 1:22 pm

It’s one thing to operate from a perspective of ideology – which is fine in my view. It’s quite another thing to actively spread falsehoods to support your ideological claims.

The media always gives a megaphone to ideologues as long as they are bashing the President. That’s the key here – bashing the President and undermining him, creating mistrust and anger among his supporters and the American people in general.

These ideologues are NOT honest brokers and the President owes them nothing, no visit to Camp David, no consideration whatsoever. It’s up to the American people to learn and understand who’s on their side and who isn’t. No one can name a single beneficial bill that Bernie Sanders has gotten passed in congress. His entire state of Vermont is smaller than most of the mid-sized cities in the country! Why should they cast him as the voice of authority on anything?
