Thanks you HZ. Your posts have been a great comfort too.
With the terror suspect face possible death penalty? Attorney General Holder will make that call.— PETER MAER (@petermaercbs) April 20, 2013
The suspect needs to survive first, before any penalty is levied. I’m hoping he does, so we might hear why this happened and what kind of emotional breaks the two brothers obviously experienced, beforehand. Hoping they were not involved with any group. Hoping we can find out how to better spot their obvious alienation from societal norms in other young people in our country, so we may try to preclude this happening again – to any city.
I don’t think he will be able to come up with a worthwhile explanation, Jacq. It might just fuel more idiots in their mission of destruction.
“Yes we found you and you will face justice”–President Obama (sort of)

That’s a HUGE sacrifice, Kasai!!
I will do anything just to see PBO….lol!!!
It is painful watching him and all those other WHPC empty (brains) suits ….
Yes indeed Bob! And many of them are being paid obscene amounts of money for doing zilch to properly inform the American people.

and there we have it. Reminding us we are a nation of diversity and a nation of laws. And we will get the facts.
Poor President Obama looked completely exhausted. I think he hasn’t slept much this week.
Thanks to our President for his great leadership.
I love my President….I just do!
And like you I love him too!
me too kasai. I love that wonderful man, I am proud of him and honored to live in a world where President Barack Obama is POTUS!!
Thank you Sam:-)
We are truly honored!
That’s how you run a country!!!!!
So glad I voted for this wonderful, smart, humble, caring, soul.
Thank you God for earring our prayers.

No questions. PBO made his statement and left.
Excellent. Don’t give these idjits even the time of the day.
Amk, just updated post with video of PBO statement.
Wow, that’s a
…quick turnover. Hubby just in. He’d been listening all day and had to listen to everyone’s crap. He decided to think of it as a Laurel and Hardy show!
Very glad to hear POTUS send comfort to Texas. PBO is the living embodiement of “turn the other cheek.” The stature and big heart of President Barack Obama is the most tremendous contrast to the partisan small-minded idiots he is mercilessly challenged by.
Vicki, I agree. He is the President of the entire United States not just the ones who voted for him.
Well said Vicki! Unlike the people who hate him, President Obama has never lost sight of the fact that he is the President of all of the United States. He has gone out of his way to comfort people devastated by tornadoes in Alabama and Missouri, although the majority of people of those states never voted for him. His compassionate statement today about the tragedy in West Texas shows how deeply our President cares for all the people of the United States.

We’ve seen the character of our President once more.
How true Vicki.
So very true and what a character he has Vicki. A while back I posted why I love PBO so much and it still stands today.
“…… I love him because of his fierce intelligence, his love of country and fellow countrymen and women even if some of them who hate him do not deserve his love. I love his empathy and his ability to connect with people of all walks of life. I love his strength of conviction and his tenacity to get a job done in the most difficult of circumstances. I love the way he can light up a room with his thousand megawat smile and the way he takes control of any situation. I love the way he ‘talks softly yet wields a big stick’. I love the man for a million different reasons but most of all I love him because he is President Barack Obama, the full package, the greatest President of my lifetime and because a long while back when I was going through a real tough time I heard one of his speeches and realized that there was HOPE.”
PBO showed his steadfast yet empathetic character again over the past week and as always has made me grateful to live in the age of Obama.
Thank you #PBO for affirming that our diversity is essential, our unity only grows stronger and justice must always be our goal. @whitehouse— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) April 20, 2013
You’re most welcome, young man.
He spoke what was exactly in my mind. We have courts, so let’s rush into any judgments about these individuals, about their motivations etc. He dinged both the trademed and newmed. “We welcome all types of people from all over the world” was a shot at the rwnjs.. Including Texas in this PC shows how he is still grounded in reality.
I got to see my President. All`s right in the World
if the mass murderer they caught today is able to talk, i expect similar sentiments as republican/libertarian timothy mcveigh said after he was caught:
I am sorry these people had to lose their lives. But that’s the nature of the beast. It’s understood going in what the human toll will be.
He said that if there turned out to be an afterlife, he would “improvise, adapt and overcome”, noting that:
If there is a hell, then I’ll be in good company with a lot of fighter pilots who also had to bomb innocents to win the war.
He also said:
I knew I wanted this before it happened. I knew my objective was state-assisted suicide and when it happens, it’s in your face. You just did something you’re trying to say should be illegal for medical personnel.”
you read mcveigh’s writing before and after he was caught, and it’s almost exactly what rand paul (a republican) and his champions say today. they completely ignore the fact the constitution says you control your government through voting, not attacking it physically. they throw false equivalencies all over the place, and mcveigh consistently said his killing and maiming of close to 1,000 of his fellow innocent americans, including 19 children under 5, was justified because of vietnam and iraq invasion #1. he never acknowledges how he’s supposed to fix a wrong such as those through protest and voting, yet claims to love the constitution. this is exactly what republicans/libertarians/ron-paul-spawn say to this day while claiming to own the constitution, without any irony that they’re promoting the exact opposite of the constitution, which explicitly states the elected government needs to “suppress insurrection.” this adult man will probably asy something similar but referencing different countries and cases from timothy mcveigh. their points will be the same.
and the mainstream media repeats their lies for them every single goddamn day without any questioning whatsoever. we have got to starve the beast that is “the news” in america, and we might be able to save the republic after all!
i starve the beast every day. I NEVER watch the news netlets.
No shouts from Todd or the other jackals as PBO exited …. hmmmm ….
Shame is expressed the most through silence…
Mr. Bobfr, the President looked like he dared them to……he has had it with them. How many times can you offer the olive branch and it keeps getting knocked out of your hand? Scripture says 70×70, I know……PBO is an example of how I am trying to handle this patience thing. Some days I get it right, some days I don’t.
That is why he is the BEST President in my life time. He deserved respect when he first came into office, they never have given him and probably never will.
Now, he demands it!
LDS, he was definitely looking them straight in the eye as he finished and departed … and, yes, he is clearly demanding their respect and I pity the fool who challenges him during the remainder of his Presidency.
My sentiment exactly…
Yes, he looked exhausted, but every fiber in his body was saying, “Bring it MF! Just bring it!
I went to White House.gov and the first thing i saw was Todd, Henry, ex-Fox guy, and the ABC guy I can’t think of his name. But my question is why is it that those guys always grab front row? I can do without their ugly faces.
I believe they’ve got assigned seating, which is assigned by the Chair of the WHPC – and I think Ed Henry of FOX is the current Chair. I could be wrong.
Dear @Grahamblog: Should Ricin Elvis be treated as an enemy combatant? Or is he just misunderstood?— Liberal Librarian (@Lib_Librarian) April 20, 2013
Apparently, under the Public Safety Exception, he can be questioned for 48 hours and then he can be Mirandized.
Here's the FBI explainer on the Public Safety Exception. The suspect can be questioned, but then must be Mirandized tinyurl.com/c7obto4— Joy Reid (@TheReidReport) April 20, 2013
Good to know.
Once again, different MSM ‘journalists’ reported entirely conflicting information – FBI Mirandized, FBI didn’t …. totally irresponsible, every step of the way ….
Bob, most of the MSM are a disgrace! They’ve totally abandoned the journalistic ethic of striving to report the TRUTH!
Key elements of the PSE:
“Whenever the prosecution seeks in its direct case to introduce a statement made by a suspect while in custody and in response to interrogation, it must prove that the subject was warned of specific rights and voluntarily waived those rights.4 The penalty imposed on the prosecution for failing to prove that the Miranda procedures were properly followed is harsh.”
“Voluntariness is the linchpin of the admissibility of any statement obtained as a result of government conduct.43 Thus, statements obtained by the government under the public safety exception cannot be coerced or obtained through tactics that violate fundamental notions of due process.”
“Once the questions turn from those designed to resolve the concern for safety to questions designed solely to elicit incriminating statements, the questioning falls outside the scope of the exception and within the traditional rules of Miranda.”
Thanks Bob. Completely sensible exemption.
Ah, I thought it was 24 hours. Thanks, ut.
I know I posted this on the last thread, but I want to add on to it just a little:
1) Kudos to the law enforcement and everyone else who brought justice and relief after these five days of hell. Seeing the impromptu parade and cheering on the Watertown streets brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face! Now THAT was the true finish line.
2) As always, I’m so grateful to have our President and his leadership and grace. And I trust him and am not trying to tell him what to do. But IMO, now is the time for an executive order on gun control.
3) CNN and these other media outlets – save for CBS, NBC, and local – can officially stick a fork in themselves, they’re DONE. (Hell, Scott Pelley even SOUNDS like Walter Cronkite.) These past few days were historical in terms of media and news reporting, and I can definitely understand why we the people are considered the new media. However…after all the false accusations of Sunil Tripathi being a suspect last night, I’m now doubting that even we the people are non-biased enough to run the 4th Estate. Someday, someday we’ll get it right…the country depends on it.
4) The blatant racial profiling I’ve seen on cable news these past few days is shameful. And if and when Sunil is found alive, I hope he, his family, and the other “dark-skinned” people who were falsely pointed at as suspects get a huge collective lawsuit going towards certain presses!
i hope Sunil is found alive.
I hope he’s found alive also. Must admit, I am one who thought the pic looked like Sunny.
Local story on Sunny – http://delcotimes.com/articles/2013/04/19/news/doc5171622bd8263028392427.txt and their FB page is back: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Help-Us-Find-Sunil-Tripathi/403275636436466
Amen on 3 & 4. New media showed its ugly face in the past 48 hours. And the family should sue the asses of redditt fuckers who said sometimes innocents do get hurt, my bad .
Thanks, Goldendreamer, for this excellent comment! The MSM were, without a doubt, despicable! But even the so called new/social media were not immune to running with wild speculation, especially with regard to that young man, Sunil Tripathi. In all this horrible situation, I am glad we had a President who constantly urged us not to rush to conclusions about motives and the types of people who perpetuated this heinous crime. I am glad we had a president who urged us not to give in to fear.
I ♥ my President, yes I do. He is the very definition of a Statesman. I appreciate his steady hand and his heartfelt remarks about the dead and wounded. I also appreciate his graciousness in mentioning the people of West Texas at the end of his remarks.
I send my gratitude to all law enforcement and intelligence communities for their hard work and sacrifice on this case. Hopefully we as a country will put our money where our mouths are and support the good men and women who keep us safe day in and day out. (Yes, you worthless GOP scum, I’m looking at you.)
I wonder if the media did feel a little bit of guilt when President Obama looked into the camera and told the people of Texas that he hadn’t forgotten them.

The image of the Watertown house at night where the suspect was captured is reminiscent of the house in Amityville Horror. Glad this particular horror is resolved.
oh wow. i’m not religious, but praise god for president obama! what a perfect statement for tonight! i was just watching some clips of w. “now watch this drive” bush in big press conferences, and it’s literally night and day. bush was such a freaking buffoon. even worse than i remember now looking back, and after being used to the statesmanship of president obama. we done good fellow obama-bots getting our guy in office for 2 terms!!!
I know some of you might not think this is the biggest issue of the night, but I spotted an image of a grumpy old man with a beard on the bathroom mat thingie a while ago. Spooky.
Chips, I love you, but lay off the tequila.
Nooo! Don’t tell her to stop. I just had some Patron and I see the old man, too.
No no, honest LL, I’m 100% tequila free, I was in there minding my own business when I spotted grumpy beardy man. What was he doing there?
Ok, you’re scaring me now. Quick, TOD’ers, to Chips’ house STAT!
Romney still pissed he had to sit in the back row in the Boston Cathedral…….can’t believe he is not president!
That’s what parodying knoller does to you.
Yes I see the snarling old fella. Chuck Todd’s great uncle.
Thank you Hopefruit, I was beginning to sense, by the negative reaction, that I was the only one who saw Chuck’s great uncle!
OMG…..how bored are you?
Listen you, when John King arrives at my house in the morning with a camera crew to film the dark-skinned bearded man who appeared on my toilet mat, and I become really famous, I’ll remember your dismissal of my other-worldly experience.
I thought you were famous.
O.K., I admit that my eyesight, even with glasses, is not as good as it used to be. From what you posted I just couldn’t make out what you say is an image of a “bearded man.” But since I love and respect you so much, I will take your word about the “bearded man” on your “toilet mat” to be true.
That’s interesting. I see a fresh cheesy puff.
Chips … you definitely need a drink!!!
I do Bob, most definitely, but, reluctant as I am to start a gender war again, the only people here who can’t see grumpy bearded man are ….. boys.
I see it, Chips. Maybe toss that sucker in the washer? Ha!
And wash grumpy bearded man away??? No, Jacqueline!
Go for it, honey.
Pretty sure I see the image. I think the first thing I picked out was his big nose, right?
Spot on, J. Here’s some help for the eejits who can’t spot grumpy bearded man:
Oh. Turns out I wasn’t lookin’ at his big nose, after all. (I’m toying with you, Chips. It’s me celebratory wine.)
I went to get a glass of plum wine and absentmindedly poured milk. Took it as a sign not to drink wine.
I do like milk, but I never look for those signs.
Actually, at this age, I talk more about wine than I actually drink it. A half of a glass and I’m practically soaring. Ha!
No, I don’t drink much wine either. Puts me to sleep.
Oh, doesn’t put me to sleep. Just makes me happier. In half the time. And I’m already plenty happy, so it’s quite the sight.
I’m a cheap date.
I used to be a lot more expensive, myself!

Poor wingnuts, they don't know what drives them more crazy right now: That these guys are white or that Obama caught them in 4 days.— BWD (@theonlyadult) April 20, 2013
And those wingnuts, obviously, include some of the media.
I’m especially glad Jake Tapper got the smug look ripped off his face by his sorry-ass performance in front of the camera, overnight and early morning. He could have used a teleprompter out on that street corner, the fool. Through all this, both he and John King looked and acted like they were reporters for a high-school newspaper (no offense to high schoolers, many of whom would have been better). And very, very foolish.
Oh, and, another note to John King: Just because you once lived in the Boston area, doesn’t mean that’s a qualifier to cover what’s going on there. That was one of your lesser ridiculous statements, this week, but it was still ridiculous.
Excuse me, I did an impromptu stand-up with Shirley Chisholm in the hallway of the Longworth Bldg when I was in 11th grade; compared to this ijits, I gave Walter Cronkite a run for his money!
See what I mean? There are ALWAYS prime exceptions! And good for you. (My only claim to fame was that I was interviewed on the local radio station in 8th grade, and who gives a hoot, but I can’t remember why. I do still have the newspaper photo of this remarkableness in a scrapbook, though, somewhere. But even I don’t give a hoot, at this point. Ha!)
Off topic, but may I mention I’ve seen three images today of six or seven Boston police officers marching, one behind the other, around the scene of the capture – possibly to do sweeps. I’m sure you’ve all seen them.
In all three cases, it hit me three times, there was one African-American officer and one woman marching among them. I worked in equal employment opportunity for a while in my federal career, so I guess that’s the first reason why I noticed that. The second reason is that Boston’s gender and racial problems in employment (and otherwise), especially traditionally male employment like police and fire, although not gone and no doubt not exactly represented by these three line-ups, seem to be improved. It’s a small point, but I don’t think they could have planned that for the TV cameras. It’s been a hard time coming, and it does my little heart glad.
Outstanding observation, Jacqueline, and very true … and, I don’t think it was ‘staged’ in any way. Thank you!
Thanks, Bobfr. Fingers crossed!
Jackie, I noticed both the officers and the local media. Both are much more diverse than when I lived in Newport.
Yes, excellent on both counts.
Bravo, Bravo, JOB for your keen observation and excellent comment! May also thank you for your contribution in debunking the myth that racial and gender diversity lowers performance standards. In my 40 years work experience, three of my most exceptional and competent supervisors were women.
Great! (And thanks so much for your sweet comment!)

Sweet sleep my TOD family. Lurkers thanks for unlurking during this most trying week.
Night LDS (whom I always misread as LSD).
That’s okay…..this week had me tripping.
Especially, MSM you cannot tell me they were or were not on their Meds. We know now they are and have been winging it all along.
What bothers me is that we have so many able bodies here who could do a better job than any one of them. I am insulted, angry at how much money they make and how many people believe their lies. All is not lost. It makes PBO second term even sweeter knowing what we were up against.
Good night, LL and thank you for all you do here. I hope your wife is doing well.

Thanks Desrtflower! I commented on LDS’ request looking for Dudette without thinking that we still have the versatile flower of the desert. Donny Hathaway was one of the most talented musicians.
LDS, I too miss Dudette and Yardarm! I was happy to hear that Yardarm is doing fine. Now we need to hear from Dudette. She brings so much soul and energy to TOD! Donny Hathaway’s “Everything Is Everything” would have been so fitting for this horrible week!
Hi Nath, I also concur. I thought I saw that Dudette was taking a little trip. However, like you I hope that she is fine. I named Dudette our “Musician-In-Chief.” And it looks like Dudette has some great “Musicial Generals” who are taking great charge while she is gone.
