President Obama waves through the window of his car in Mexico City, May 2
Back in a while with more from Mexico – chat away!
Ack! So close again. Hey, everyone
A sultry and satisfying second, nil! That ain’t bad at all!
Wow. I think I’m first. Just got here today so still celebrating the jobs news.
Good job PBO and team.
They can’t and won’t beat him with all of his supporters help especially if they are like the TODers.
WOW!! I’m first i can’t believe it HA!!
Pretty close though.
Congrats on 1st criquet!!!

I like it!!
Why, thank you Dudette
Me too….just take questions from the 31M tweeter followers or like I suggested bring in college journalism students so they can get experience and teach the hacks what they forgot in journalism school.
Thanks Bob. I had gone back to catch up on what I had missed this morning.
Bob – I had a similar thought the other day. Bravo!
Super idea! The IQ level of these press conferences would soar if they were done on twitter.
Well, folks, I actually think that part of the media is waking up to the crazies on the right. Not enough yet, but I am sensing a small trend in that direction.
Hmmm….Well thank goodness the nature of the universe is curved, which means that there comes a point at which anything done to excess yields negative benefit…the MSM might be reaching that point where their enabling of the GOP is beginning to hurt THEIR bottom line – in ways that we may not even be aware of.
Eventually…the obvious becomes ‘obvious’ to the dullest minds. Some people are actually beginning to notice that too many people are dying from guns, for example. A few seem to be waking from a long coma. Let’s see how that goes.
Aw soookie, soookie now!! He’s waving at me??? I just knew he saw me in the crowd!
By the way, thanks to all who explained “false flag” to me. It sounds much more like what happens on “SCANDAL” than something PBO would do.
When PBO gets you, you KNOW it’s PBO that did the gettin’ !
Happy Friday Everybody!
Happy Friday, Dudette. So good to see your cheerfulness here, any day o’ the week!
Thank you, j-o-b! Right backatcha!!
Besides the knowledge that my TOD spot is always here, this thing right here made me smile brighter than the sun today!

And then there are the children that are being raised by family members…grandparents…uncles/aunts and other siblings….the definition of family can no longer be defined by Ozzie and Harriet…many of us grew up in families very different from Ozzie and Harriet…
this calls to mind a discussion i had with a co-worker about our absent fathers…we both knew who our fathers were…but he was absent from the household during our growing up into adulthood years….for me…it has left a hole in my life…not so much for her…
You’re so right PF. Sometimes siblings do a lot of the parenting in some families. It all depends on who cares enough and has love to give.

And this is in the face of strenuous efforts by the Republicans in Congress and in our state houses to bring about economic collapse and in spite of the worst attacks on public sector employment that I have ever even heard of in my lifetime. When I think of what we could have accomplished had Nancy Pelosi remained Speaker of the House, it makes we want to weep.

EVERY TIME WE GET A PIECE OF ECONOMIC NEWS, WE WILL KNOW IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF ………….
Statement by the President on the Sequester (March 1, 2013)
So economists are estimating that as a consequence of this sequester, that we could see growth cut by over one-half of 1 percent. It will cost about 750,000 jobs at a time when we should be growing jobs more quickly. So every time that we get a piece of economic news, over the next month, next two months, next six months, as long as the sequester is in place, we’ll know that that economic news could have been better if Congress had not failed to act.
And let’s be clear. None of this is necessary. It’s happening because of a choice that Republicans in Congress have made. They’ve allowed these cuts to happen because they refuse to budge on closing a single wasteful loophole to help reduce the deficit. As recently as yesterday, they decided to protect special interest tax breaks for the well-off and well-connected, and they think that that’s apparently more important than protecting our military or middle-class families from the pain of these cuts.
I do believe that we can and must replace these cuts with a more balanced approach that asks something from everybody: Smart spending cuts; entitlement reform; tax reform that makes the tax code more fair for families and businesses without raising tax rates — all so that we can responsibly lower the deficit without laying off workers, or forcing parents to scramble for childcare, or slashing financial aid for college students.

With so much misogyny in our state houses, it would be great if women had a list of top ten states where they are treated with respect and given real opportunities. Then we could have a list of states where disrespect of women’s rights is the norm and getting worst.
I would love for every young woman coming of age or going to college to know the good places to move and start a career. Those states would become the economic powerhouses and the misogynist states would fall further down the economic ladder. Women power in action.

Subject: :Little Johnny
little Johnny watched his daddy’s car pass by the school playground and go into the woods. Curious, he followed the car and saw Daddy and Aunt Jane in a passionate embrace.
Little Johnny found this so exciting that he could hardly contain himself as he ran home and started to tell his mother.
‘Mommy, I was at the playground and I saw Daddy’s car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went back to look and he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, and then he helped her take off her shirt. Then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane…’
At this point Mommy cut him off and said, ‘Johnny, this is such an interesting story, let’s save the rest of it for supper time. I want to see the look on Daddy’s face when you tell it tonight.’
At the dinner table that evening, Mommy asked little Johnny to tell his story. Johnny started his story, ‘I was at the playground and I saw Daddy’s car go into the woods with Aunt Jane.I went back to look and he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, then he helped her take off her shirt. Then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane and Daddy started doing the same thing that you and Uncle Bill used to do when Daddy was away on the oil rigs.’
Sometimes you need to just shut up and listen to the whole story before you interrupt!

All the print reporters say the President should show leadership and go to war with Iraq.
Making why he got elected a Farce, as opposition to Iraq War, is what catapulted him past Hillary in the primary.
Everything is politics and how do we turn This President into Bush!
That’s why we can’t go to war with Syria, it’s not a credible threat, it will cost trillions and this President will be seen as a Hypocrit.
War with Syria I meant to say. Duh
I don’t think you can compare Syria and Iraq. Iraq was a foregone conclusion with the Bush Administration, for which, they manufactured information to justify their mission. Syria is a genuine humanitarian crisis, a very complex one. And I trust this President to evaluate the situation and make the right decision – given that there are no good options.
The US has to find other ways to solve issues if they are going to be the world leaders. The world is sick of war. President Obama is loved worldwide – much of it due to his anti war stance. The US far right & weapons manufacturers push wars – no-one – but no-one else is interested.

But he gets to fly on AF1, and WE are paying the ticket! Crikey. Hi and Bye!
6-figures at a minimum.
This is the second and last tweet by Knoller about the jobs numbers today. In other words, there is absolutely nothing that he can spin negatively about the numbers themselves, so he resorts to citing Jay Carney….

BREAKING: Obama opens 2-day visit to Costa Rica, will hold talks with Central American leaders. -SS— The Associated Press (@AP) May 03, 2013
The Obama administration announced nearly $600 million in additional restoration projects to improve the environmental damage along the Gulf Coast.
Following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oilrig explosion and spill, oil giant BP offered up to $1 billion to rehabilitate the areas in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
A group of federal and state agencies have held meetings with stakeholders to coordinate and plan the relief. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), BP has already agreed to fund 10 previously proposed restoration projects, worth about $71 million.
The most expensive of the 28 new plans include an $85.5 million investment in sand dune and walking trail restoration at the Gulf State Park in Alabama. The funding will also be used to build an education and research center and a visitors’ lodge.
One of the first areas to be hit hard by the spill, the Louisiana barrier islands, will receive $320 million in funding to help rebuild the sandy beaches around each of the three islands and restore the lush marshes. Many different kids of fish, shellfish and birds make their homes around these areas, according to NOAA.
In Florida, a $20 million saltwater fish hatchery will be built to revamp the sport-fishing industry in the region, eventually red snapper, red drum and spotted sea trout fish will be released into the area’s waters.
In Hancock County, Miss., there are plans to build a $50 million “living shoreline,” which would consist of a total of 92 acres of marsh and oyster beds to both prevent erosion of shorelines and foster oyster production.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas doesn’t speak much on the job, but during an interview last month at Duquesne Law School in Pittsburgh, Pa., he offered some candid insight into his thoughts about politics and President Barack Obama.
Asked if Obama’s election as the first black president came as a surprise, Thomas said it didn’t, claiming that he’d always believed a black person would become president one day. He went on to say, however, that Obama had only been elected because the president won over the elites and media, something Thomas argued most black people must do in order to advance.
“The thing that I always knew is that it would have to be a black president who was approved by the elites and the media, because anybody they didn’t agree with, they would take apart,” Thomas said in a clip that surfaced on Friday. “You pick your person. Any black person who says something that is not the prescribed things that they expect from a black person will be picked apart.”
Thomas’s comments have since been picked up by a number of outlets and are being considered by some as a subtle jab at Obama. Adam Winkler, a professor at the University of California School of Law, told Mother Jones that the remarks were out of character for a sitting Supreme Court justice.
“Thomas seems more interested in becoming a Fox commentator than preserving the integrity of the Court,” he said. “Justices should not take pot shots at the president. It’s beneath the dignity of the court.”
At the Duquesne Law School event, Thomas went on to explain that he had met Obama before, but had never spoken with the president at length. He also said that he wasn’t really interested in politics.
“I just don’t like politics,” he said. “I’m just done … I like history, I like things of substance; I don’t understand politics.”
HP has only 47 seconds of the clip, I cannot find it on youtube
Thomas is of no consequence. I read the post and I posted these:
“I had no clue that Clarence Thomas spoke for the Elites, Media and the Black Folks? Hmm? Pres Obama is 50% of Black and White. Pres Obama was raised by his White Mom and grandparents.
Thomas Married a White female in his 40s.
Too bad, Justice Clarence is a man of little substance……Hence, his idiocy.”
Am I surprise by Clarence Thomas comments? Hell no! Thomas should be careful because he is acting like he is seeking approval from Fox News and we all know Fox love to shine the spotlight on any black person that disagree with the President (the good doctor Carson).
Actually, I see this more as Thomas being jealous as hell, because he went through the “high tech lynching” and therefore did not win the approval of the elites. I think he really resents having been born black and can’t stand seeing someone else who is black being successful at something other than sports or entertainment.

So I guess a Supreme Court Justice isn’t considered one of the “elites” of whom he speaks against? Maybe because those elites (along with the media he thinks prevails) are “for” President Obama? He’s one of only nine men and women in the third segment of our entire government, with lifetime tenure, and that’s not an elite role? Justices we will never get to vote out? Somebody please tell Clarence Thomas his job isn’t exactly dog catcher. Methinks he’s still bitter about his confirmation hearing, and whatever he feels about and against PBO, the most interesting man on the planet.
