Most everything the President does during the week, that matters, is drowned out by all the noise the GOP makes.
The media focuses on the GOP, not real people in this country.
And they pick sides far to often.

Jovie, it’s been like this since PBO stepped into the spotlight. Yet the president keeps on keeping on, getting tremendous stuff done and helping the lives of people. He’s making steady forward progress on all his initiatives, he’s reaching out to people in towns across the country and all of us are more dedicated to him than ever because of the media shut out. I think he knows this and it keeps him going. I think of the media as noisy, obnoxious neighbors. They’re annoying and they can get under your skin from time to time, but you keep on living your life, doing your best during your time on this earth. That’s what the president is doing–his best–at all times and his best is truly magnificent in my opinion.

Well said Mr. President. They will always remember this day when the President honored them.

No matter how much noise and foolishness I hear during the week, it all seems insignificant when I see this man’s smile.

Finally AAA guy was just here about 35-40 mins ago. I am still baffled as to why the Tire went flat belly. No punctures that were visible. It took 3 calls nagging them. I have never had such crummy service in all my years with AAA. My Saturday is almost done now….waiting for AAA. Sheesh.

Oh well, enough of my rants. Life Goes on.

Does anyone have a link to the ACA application form? Tried the White House and couldn’t find it. I want to take a copy of the form to a meeting this week.

Sully links to an interesting article about how a poor North Dakota German-American boy (Gatsby) could have been an Army officer in WWII (vs. Germany).

    Interestingly:

“The even more radical move that the army made — shocking to privileged young men, such as Fitzgerald, who expected traditional class and ethnic discrimination — was not to exclude immigrants and ethnic Americans from consideration for officer. (Indeed, the army’s initial plan was to have no racial prejudice and to open up such promotions to blacks as well, but the government under pressure from Southern civilian officials nixed the original idea of a complete meritocracy.)”

So we have turn-of-the-century Southern civilian officials (only 50 years after the end of the Civil War) dictating Army policies during wartime. Sound familiar?

Brace yourselves for a complete ONSLAUGHT of IRS vs. Tea Party groups this week. Toby Harnden (Times of London DC “reporter”) whines today that the story isn’t NYTimes A1 (unfortunately it did make A1 on my local paper, Ventura County Star) and tweeted it’s a bigger story for readers than #Benghazi.

Reporters are so f***ing obsessed about this non-story. (Because it requires no work AT ALL from them to copy and paste lies without investigation.)

    Absolutely HATE the MSM.

One of my tweet replies that actually got RT’d in the journo community was one that reminded 2013 journalists that Bob Woodward had no computer, cell phone or fax machine. That he had to make calls, meet sources face-to-face and write articles on a typewriter.

Today’s MSM expects their job to be 9-to-5, which allows them time for lavish self-indulgence, and when they get stuck in traffic or have to verify sources it’s an imposition on them. These hyenas are vile and non-productive members of society; in fact they willfully mislead their audiences to advance their own self-promotion.

Well, if people gave this a moments thought, they would realize that PACS like Crossroads and all the others just like them (Koch Bros) aren’t what they seem and have lied to the IRS to get their exempt status. Once again, this is much ado about nothing. Thank you, IRS!

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/14/crossroads-gps_n_2300985.html

In a confidential 2010 filing, Crossroads GPS — the dark money group that spent more than $70 million from anonymous donors on the 2012 election — told the Internal Revenue Service that its efforts would focus on public education, research and shaping legislation and policy.

The group’s application for recognition as a social welfare nonprofit acknowledged that it would spend money to influence elections, but said “any such activity will be limited in amount, and will not constitute the organization’s primary purpose.”

Political insiders and campaign-finance watchdogs have long questioned how Crossroads, the brainchild of GOP strategist Karl Rove, had characterized its intentions to the IRS.

Now, for the first time, ProPublica has obtained the group’s application for recognition of tax-exempt status, filed in September 2010. The IRS has not yet recognized Crossroads GPS as exempt, causing some tax experts to speculate that the agency is giving the application extra scrutiny. If Crossroads GPS is ultimately not recognized, it could be forced to reveal the identities of its donors.

The tax code allows groups like Crossroads to spend money on political campaigns — and to keep their donors private — as long as their primary purpose is enhancing social welfare.

Crossroads’ breakdown of planned activities said it would focus half its efforts on “public education,” 30 percent on “activity to influence legislation and policymaking” and 20 percent on “research,” including sponsoring “in-depth policy research on significant issues.”

This seems at odds with much of what the group has done since filing the application, experts said.

So this is the scandal that the administration had better do something about, according to Rachel? This was a leading story on CBS early this morning; not in a positive way. Even heard Kate Baldwin(sp) on CNN talking about this. Lawd help us all.

      • May 11, 2013 at 7:05 pm

You can expect this to be THE MSM headline until at least Labor Day (barring catastrophic natural disaster or Middle East war drumbeats).

MSM won’t have to work at all, and they will be able to enjoy their vacations in the Hamptons, Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod, etc.

That’s why I posted this here. Not because the GOP/MSM argument has any merit, but because MSM is chomping at the bit to have a go at this “scandal.”

        Makes me sick.

Here’s the definition of joy, in my dictionary, if I may share, especially the day before Mother’s Day.

My 10-year-old granddaughter called me this morning; she lives in another state. She said “Hi!” and I said “Oh, I was thinking about your giggle yesterday.” (She could make the world’s most miserable person laugh). And then I chuckled a little.

From that point – and I am NOT KIDDING – we chuckled and giggled and snorted and laughed for FIVE MINUTES straight without using words, and neither of us could stop. We’d try, and then start up again.

Finally, before either of us had gotten a word out, and just to pay her back because my nose was running and my mascara was starting to slide down my face, and my cereal was getting soggy, I said “Okay, bye!” and THEN and only then did she start saying “No!!!!” and tell me why she was calling in the first place, so I wouldn’t hang up.

Yeah, that’s my definition of joy. Thank you, God, for these little jokesters in my life, even if ya end up with soggy cereal as your first meal of the day.

The IRS, Benghazi, and now this-

The Tennessee Republican compared the HHS secretary’s requests for donations from insurance companies to the Iran-Contra scandal.
Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius might have broken the law by asking insurance companies to donate to outside groups promoting President Obama’s healthcare law, Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said Saturday.
Alexander compared the fundraising to the Iran-Contra scandal.
