I don’t have a favorite Stevie Wonder song. I think it’s impossible to have just one because Stevie Wonder is genius and light years ahead of everyone. Chips and commenters already included some of my go to Stevie songs. But no Stevie collection is complete without these two songs.

Happy Birthday Stevie Wonder! Long May You Live and Long May You Reign.

Good morning TODers, talking about sleeping like a baby…..
.My goodness, what a beautiful thread. I was literally serenaded to sleep. I really love Stevie Wonder. His music has and always will be a part of my soul. I woke up singing “Ribbon In The Sky.” Such a beautiful song, it makes me cry. Anyone who can compose that and many other songs that just touch your soul is truly a “genius.”
Thank you one and all for giving me one of the most memorable nights in music.
This will be my “go to thread,” whenever life gets a little bit heavy and Repugs get more stupider(if there is such a word)…..which we all know they surely will. But we’ve got each other, this thread and our dear Ms. Chips.

It is a beautiful thing when you wake up with lots of love and a song in your heart.
Have a peaceful day everyone. We are in GOOD hands.

Good Morning….Oh, my goodness, how smug they are on tee vee this morning,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,what an incompetent, sinister, bumbling, disconnected, scandalous, did I say incompetent 10 times, administration we have……the contempt is just dripping off their fangs……..Talking about incompetence…ya think that if Teaparty is in your name ya might be associated with a political party rather than a group that serves tea to the poor…..or do ya think that journalists whining about my, my, my rights, ya might consider the rights of the American people to be safe as important also…..and Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi just seems to be ho hum now…..

    • 50 hopefruit2
      May 14, 2013 at 8:21 am

Actually they seem more unhinged at this point than smug because they know they don’t really have anything at the end of the day. They were mad that he corrected them at the presser and AP put out this shiny new toy for them to attack PBO and Holder with.

Between the Benghazi, IRS and AP stories, PBO and Eric Holder will be still standing strong in the administration 6 months from now. And the media’s credibility will be a few notches lower (if that’s even possible).

      • 51 kathryn kivett
        May 14, 2013 at 9:01 am

I used the word smug b/c it is inconceivable to them that they have not achieved a “gotcha” moment for PBO….Their contempt for PBO consumes them to their core so therefore they are unable to consider there are two sides to a story…….personally, if as reported, what IRS and DOJ did was correct…..If you have Teaparty in your name you are not a social welfare organization and I don’t want my taxes subsidizing you…..and if national security is jeopardized b/c someone is leaking information, I call that treason and don’t care who’s phone records are subpoenaed to protect me and my family from harm…..the media’s reaction is b/c they are PO b/c they have been called out not only for being disrespectful and irresponsible during PBO’s administration but they have the lives of thousands on their heads for their irresponsible reporting that helped get us into two irresponsible wars……..all this crap is being used to divert attention from PBO’s agenda…pure and simple…..and will he stand tall..you bet….will Eric Holder stand tall, absolutely…….I’m a firm believer of right over wrong.

  29. May 14, 2013 at 8:12 am

Oh regret missing the Stevie late-night party! But I can still enjoy these beautiful songs :) Happy Belated Birthday Mr. Stevie Wonder!

Here is a story that makes me furious—-cruel and inhumane treatment of horses and colts—–rounding them up, kept in crowded holding areas, 1700 missing as they were sold to a Co. rancher who likely sold them to slaughterhouses in Mexico. Bureau of Land Mgmt is charged with protecting our wild horses—-under Dept. of Interior—–but appears to be under the influence of powerful ranching lobby. It’s disgusting—-why can’t the horses run free, enjoy their lives with their families? There’s plenty of grazing land for all. Humans are the worst of the animal species.

Morning!! I missed Stevie Wonder?????????????????????? THE most incredible artist EVER??? Happy Belated Birthday to him:)

    Another find this morning….http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2013/05/14/18248320-justice-department-targets-ap-phone-logs

The details of the story are still coming together, but based on preliminary accounts, the Justice Department didn’t eavesdrop on journalists’ phone calls, but rather, obtained logs showing incoming and outgoing calls, as well as the duration of those phone calls.

And why was the Justice Department doing this? In part because congressional Republicans demanded a full-scale leak investigation and DOJ officials took the request very seriously.

A year ago last week, the AP reported on a foiled terrorist plot that the Obama administration had successfully prevented. White House critics were outraged, accusing the administration of boasting about its counter-terrorism victory for campaign purposes, including leaking classified information.

Republicans accused the administration of deliberately leaking classified information, jeopardizing national security in an effort to make Mr. Obama look tough in an election year — a charge the White House rejected. But some Democrats, too, said the leaking of sensitive information had gotten out of control.

Mr. Holder’s move at the time was sharply criticized by Republicans as not going far enough. They wanted him to appoint an outside special counsel, and a Senate resolution calling for a special counsel was co-sponsored by 29 Republican senators.

On Monday, however, after The A.P. disclosed the seizure of the records, some Republican leaders criticized the administration as going too far.

Right. As of last night, as the story drew serious questions from the left and right, the GOP was left in the awkward position of arguing that it wanted the Justice Department to do everything possible to root out national security leaks, except what the Justice Department ended up doing to root out national security leaks.

REPUBLICANS ASKED FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As usual, they want to have things BOTH WAYS! They are so fucked up….so fucked up.

      The kicker!

DF, thanks for the link. The “r’s” always go too far and end up with egg on their faces and the opposite of what they’re trying to do. I’m seeing a lot of pushback on twitter. There’s just been too much piling on by republicans drunk on their own hatred and the media and it’s starting to boomerang. By the way, the poll showing that some “r’s” thought Benghazi was bigger than Teapot Dome is the biggest piece of BS imaginable. I defy any average Republican voter to describe Teapot Dome and say what president was involved. I’d especially like to hear from those who don’t know what Benghazi is.

The Wall Street Journal revealed this week a little-known watchdog group was responsible for getting the IRS to audit the environmental organization Greenpeace. Two years ago, Public Interest Watch challenged Greenpeace’s tax-exempt status and accused the group of money laundering and other crimes. According to the Journal, tax records show more than 95 percent of the funding of Public Interest Watch was provided by the oil giant ExxonMobil.

On its website, Public Interest Watch says it was founded “in response to the growing misuse of charitable funds by nonprofit organizations and the lack of effort by government agencies to deal with the problem.” The group describes its mission as: “Keeping an Eye on the Self-Appointed Guardians of the Public Interest.”
