The American public minus those crazies on the right are able to think for themselves and draw their own conclusions based on facts not sensationalism that the media tend to push in our faces on a daily basis. The one thing these polls and I am talking the reliable one now always show is that the American people TRUST President Obama and they know he has not done anything for them to lose their trust in him. MSM GO TO HELL, WE HAVE PRESIDENT OBAMA’S BACK

Would this be the same Ed that I heard on my car radio the other day yelling about the IRS and saying that the IRS should be abolished? Screw him. He sounded like a damn teabagger for crying out loud! The IRS did EXACTLY what the IRS SHOULD do, and he was spewing this bs…simply amazing. Maybe he should’ve stayed on the extended vacation a while longer. He has NO CRED with me right now.

I added Alicia Keys and Jack White’s Another Way To Die from Quantum of Solace to the post. It’s a beautiful composition of two artists from two different genres making fantastic music.

Another fave of mine is Adele’s Skyfall.

Hey Chips, I just clued in to this discussion. Claire Shipman isn’t Jon Karl’s boss. She is married to Jay Carney and is the senior national correspondent for ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA). She has nothing to do with news and articles about the Obama administration because that would be a conflict of interest. You’re right. She has nothing to do with Jon Karl.

While this is parody, I believe it’s actually quite true of the GOP. They are raving mad that PBO is not a white Republican. If he were, there would already be plans to put him on Mt. Rushmore. The GOP has spend the last 4 years attacking him, while trying desperately (with zero success) to find their own “Obama.” They are obsessed with him and it’s driving them crazy.

As a child, I lived in a three level family home (aunts, uncles, parents, grandparents) with a total of 11 kids, all cousins and sibs. There may have been a neighborhood kid in there, but who’s counting. Anyway, one of our past times activities was staging musicals from movies or Broadway plays. My brother was the oldest of us all so he was director, producer, and casting agent. He picked the shows and we just went along like the lemmings we were. Some of the videos I posted were of our best work. Here’s another one:

Remind me to tell you about the time my brother decided that we should run away from home and gave us all names to use in four different states, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana. We raided the neighbors grape vines for eat during our get away.

When I was about 5 my sister decided to leave home – and being her most ardent admirer – I was going too. We announced our departure & father waved goodbye & closed the door!!!!!!! He left us crying on the doorstep for 10 minutes. Today no doubt that would be child abuse – but we sure never did that again.

Ha, ha, ha. Dad was probably looking at you the entire time. Isn’t it too bad there wasn’t the technology then as it is now? What a great video that would have been had your dad had is IPhone at the ready.

We got as far as 2 blocks away, then returned to eat the grapes on the front porch. Shortly afterward, there were grape hulls staining the porch a deep purple. Then, Mrs Webb, the neighbor whose grapes we picked came marching up the front porch to tell my grandmother of the crime. My grandmother, who didn’t even know we’d been gone came rushing out to the porch, and caught us red, or should I say purple-handed. My grandmother had us line up by age (as she often did) and stand there. She sent my brother to get a switch of the nearby bush. We he returned, she lit into our little scrawny legs with the switch. My younger sister, thinking she could make a break for it, ran upstairs to our apartment. My mom was there and asked her what was going on. She told on us, thinking she was safe, but mom made her go back down and get in line. We felt lucky, cause the menfolk weren’t home yet. Now that would have been abuse, let me tell you.

After that, and picking up all the grape hulls, we had to keep Mrs Webb’s yard swept, raked, watered de-litttered every week for the rest of the summer.

Weirdest thing – despite the uproar – we did the crazy things again & again, and wonder why are children were/are the same.

My favorite memory was heading to the beach when I was supposed to be home doing chores. I was petrified to go home – thinking the parents would rip me apart. As I crept in the door some hours later – my mother (she must be a relative of PBO) had moved on & asked me if I had a nice time. Bless her – I then went from being scared to being utterly ashamed of myself.

And speaking of neighbors – as you were – from age 9 I lived in the smallest of country towns – my mother always knew what I was doing – before I finished doing it!

I love those old memories. It is a wonder we made it to adulthood with all of our limbs and parts. When I was much older, and had come home for a school break, I thought I was too old and wise to have to tell her where I was going. I did the stay away thing too. Mom knew I was at a party, but not where it was. I ended up staying out until the next day. I didn’t call or anything. I was so afraid to finally go home, for fear my dad would be waiting. She must have convinced him to let her handle it. When I came in, she was at the sink in the kitchen and said to me, “Are you hungry, can I get you something to eat?”. That just about killed me. I broke out sobbing and wailing and full of guilt. She never acknowledge my crying or apology. She just kept doing what she was doing at the sink.

Later that day, my dad pulled me aside and said, ‘You know you had your mom worried to death? This will not happen again, ever, in your life, got it?” I think I was married and still feeling that I should be checking in with them, LOL!

As a parent now, I know just how worried she was, how angry she had to have been, and how relieved she must have been when she saw that I was OK. I can’t even imagine not knowing if my girls were safe or not, or where they were.

Ha! My son played in a heavy metal band whose lead singer was better than ANYBODY famous. My friends and I would go to their hometown gigs, wearing earplugs, but screaming like everybody else! But his tastes range from classical to heavy metal, and he’s taught three of his kids guitar (bass), and taught himself how to play organ music (which somehow happens in MY “music room” – oh, well – since he got “kicked out of” his house with the organ).

I think music keeps us all sane, actually. :)

Africa – what a piece – the “dickwad” (the politest word used to describe him) is a BFF and a drooling idjit about – the ex half term governor. What a delightful response.

If there was ever a doubt, that racism was the basis of all attacks against the President – the umbrella discussion has removed all and any of those doubts. The underlying remark – despite the big words of Palin’s writer – is that “White guys do not hold umbrellas for blah people.

LMAO! Once again…the MSM pass ass…

HEADLINE: Obama Tweets Study Of 97% Scientific Consensus On Manmade Warming, WashPost Confused On What That Means

// The story seems simple enough. First, on Wednesday a study came out that found 97% consensus on human-caused global warming in the peer-reviewed scientific literature. It was by our friends at Skeptical Science, John Cook and Dana Nuccitelli.
Then on Thursday, President Obama tweeted the study to his 31,000,000 (!) followers:

    @BarackObama
Ninety-seven percent of scientists agree: #climate change is real, man-made and dangerous. Read more. OFA.BO/gJsdFp

So how does the ever-shrinking Washington Post report the story? With the headline, “Obama tweet gets Australian researcher 31.5 million followers on Twitter.” #FAIL And just to be clear that the WashPost is in fact as confused and innumerate as their headline suggests, the story asserts: That tweet, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, led 31,541,507 people to decide to follow Australian climate change researcher John Cook on Twitter. The Herald didn’t, however, make such a transparently silly claim. Their headline read, “Obama gives Aussie researcher 31,541,507 reasons to celebrate.” //

Not to blow my own Horn :) I did dig up that yesterday…….here at TOD. I asked Japa21 to tweet that To Goldie Taylor and asked Our TOD Tweeter Brigades to spread around…..but didn’t get too many takers…..But Japa21…..Thanks again Japa21.

I am pleased that the picture is now getting some Love. Hypocrite Palin deserves to be made fun of. She was in Sept 2008 getting SService detail. Yet she injected her lying SOB mouth spouting bat Poop. I was livid yesterday at her.

i love how her umbrella carrier has the thing positioned so the water funnels down onto her head. and if she stops looking down at her feet, she’ll get poked by the ribs.

Here is how Vile these Righties have become.
I don’t get it why in the 1930s and 1940s…..Rev Fr Charles Coughlin was dealt with for using the airwaves for spreading malicious lies and propaganda.

Since 1986 with the explosion of Talk hate radio and after the Fairness Doctrine was repealed a decade later, Why can’t in this nation laws be passed to stop such Vile on the public airwaves?

This Rightie is forgetting that former SoS Clinton has SService detail as the Former First Lady.

    http://pleasecutthecrap.typepad.com/main/2013/05/were-not-really-that-polarized.html

” A relatively small group of people on the far left and the far right scream loudly and scream often, and the effect is a cacophony that drowns out what most people actually think. As a liberal, I’ve spent a lot of time in red states and living in red areas of blue states, and I’ve found is that real liberals and real conservatives agree on about 95% of all issues, at least to some degree. The disagreement isn’t usually about the issue as much as how to solve it. You can kind of tell this, because the far right wingers and the far left wingers truly stand out, even in red or blue areas.

Part of the problem seems to be that most “debate,” such as it is, revolves around a few select issues that certain people want to emphasize over everything else, and both extreme sides of the debate tend to scream the loudest, which gives many people the impression that only two sides exist, and that they’re too far apart to ever agree, Those issues are chosen and emphasized by those on both extremes of the political spectrum with the express purpose of making those issues seem far more important than others, when they aren’t necessarily.”

I’ve been following this Reuters journalist during the 2012 campaign . He was embedded with the Romney team. He recently left Reuters. Not sure if he was fired. Anyway, his tweets about the President and Press Secretary have been really nasty for the past week. Check out his TL. These are my recent tweets to him.

There’s more….this is just a few of the tweets

UT, Thank you for facilitating this movie music post. I enjoyed the music and videos from the songs that TODers have identified as some of their favorites. Many songs trigger memories from various times in my life – good memories. :-) I agree with Carolyn about the diversity of the contributors on this blog.

I have said before that this blog is like a one-stop shop…you get the political, educational, cultural, entertainment, and even emotional support. TODers willingness to share their knowledge and give support and encouragement to fellow bloggers makes this site special.

Chipsticks, I’ll use this as another opportunity to say thank you for providing this site and to all the blog tyrants for doing what you do.

Darrell Issa’s July 2012 notification of the IG investigation IRS probe is making him say: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/18/darrell-issa-irs_n_3299624.html#comments

It is from HP….so please pardon me.

Can someone help me here? I’d like to post that letter or blog post from the Marine saying that of course he would hold a President’s umbrella. I know I read it but I can’t find it and my search terms are just pulling up a bunch of extreme right-wing baloney that I wouldn’t have believed existed had I not seen it with my own (now bleached) eyes.
