Oh, I see how it is, the mini blog tyrant uses blog tyrant tools for a little bedevilment aimed at the blog tyrant. This can’t be good. Ha!

More serious subject … No matter how serious the topic, it is always such a comfort to hear our President’s voice, as he describes the issues. He’s in control, thank the Lord.

I condemn in the strongest terms the appalling attack against a British service member in Woolwich on May 22. The United States stands resolute with the United Kingdom, our ally and friend, against violent extremism and terror. There can be absolutely no justification for such acts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim, the police and security services responding to this horrific act and the communities they serve, and the British people. Our special relationship with the United Kingdom is especially important during times of trial, and I look forward to my trip to the United Kingdom to participate in the June G-8 Summit, hosted by Prime Minister Cameron, which will include discussions on the important global security challenges our countries face together.

I trust him immensely. I don’t trust those who may come after Jan 20, 2017. Therefore, starting a discussion or coming up with rules and regulations to stamp out an overreach are precisely what he is doing. Therefore, I commend him more.

WASHINGTON (AP) — After five years of trying, President Barack Obama has placed his first nominee on a key appeals court.

The Senate on Thursday confirmed Sri Srinivasan to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The court is considered the most important in the country after the Supreme Court. The Senate voted 97-0 in favor of his nomination.

Srinivasan is currently the principal deputy in the Office of the Solicitor General. He has worked in both Democratic and Republican administrations and served as a law clerk to former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

The D.C. circuit court will now be evenly split between nominees from Democratic and Republican presidents.

The traditional media’s influence is waning — if there are any lessons to be learned from the 2012 election. Fewer and fewer individuals get their information directly from the media, and even those who do – many of them have family, friends, acquaintances or other associates who have access to other outlets.

        May 23, 2013 at 3:11 pm

Yep. The news cycle will be almost completely about the heckler. It drives me nuts. Nuts.

Folks, let’s tweet journalists like mad and ask them politely to cover the SUBSTANCE of the speech. I say “politely” because they’re such divas that if we’re too harsh they respond by being even nastier to the President, and that’s the opposite of what we want…

      • 67 Sharon
        May 23, 2013 at 3:22 pm

God bless you, President Obama, for making every uncomfortable moment nevertheless a teachable moment.

Heads better roll, however, for the person or persons who didn’t screen this effing audience better, because that’s a dangerous situation, from my perspective. What the eff is next?

But, of course, the President can handle the situation, can handle himself, and can handle our country better than any other President, because HIS agenda is OUR agenda – not the agenda of neocons or oil companies or chickenhawks or the other dregs of society.

I shall not listen to any punditry for the rest of the day. The hell with all of them. Off to find MightyPamela’s candle link.

In 2008 during a Primary campaign speech I witnessed PBO handle a group of antiabortion protestors. He handled it in the same exact respectful way. Asking those prepared to escort them out to let them speak and telling the crowd booing them that they had an important point of view and the right to express the view, but they also needed to be able to listen. After expressing their point of view they were quietly escorted out. It was impressive to see him handle the situation. In contrast former President Bill Clinton was on camera pointing at a heckler loosing it with reddened face and trying to out scream the heckler and demanding the person be taken out immediately. President Obama is consistent and respectful.

It’s readily available if anyone cares to see it. People share responsibility for not seeing it. It will be shown tonight on C-Span at 8pm. Available in archives at C-Span and the White House site forever. People are busy and no longer take the time to be informed. How do we change that?

      • 85 99ts
        May 23, 2013 at 7:22 pm

When the media reports the news – rather than attempting to be the news – people are informed. The highlights of the speech should be on ALL news broadcasts

    • May 23, 2013 at 3:32 pm

So refreshing isn’t it? Even though he’s been in office over four years now, each speech is from the heart. He may have speechwriters, but I feel he has a part of it and understands what he is saying and how it will affect the country. Nothing like the four letter word president before him.

      • 87 Lovepolitics2008
        May 23, 2013 at 3:44 pm

He writes big parts of the most important speeches. Even if the first draft is done by his speechwriters, he does so much editing it ends up being mostly his work. I’m pretty sure it’s the case for this particular speech, and the one he made for Morehouse College last week-end.

I cannot watch the speech, but between UT’s tweets and the WH tweets, it is almost as if I were there. Reading some of the quotes, it sounds like he is leading up to ending the “war” stage, which would then effectively end the AUMF. The RWers will go nuts, but then they will do that no matter what.

I get the sense he is saying, “Congress gave me certain powers. I have attempted to the best of my ability to use them wisely and appropriately. However, sometimes a President can have too many powers in the wrong situations, so I am encouraging and, in fact, asking Congress to take some of them away.”

Again, basing that on tweets I have read.

! Obviously, she was there to make headlined for Code Pink, and NOT to listen to what he was saying, if she had been she would have shut up. Heard some sensible response to the speech by the media, and so-called experts, for the most part. The public needs to listen to what a real president has to say, and not a bunch of patriotic feel=good fluff.

Obama Masterfully Uses Code Pink Heckler To Make His Case That GITMO Must Be Closed

    By: Jason Easley

    ————————

Do you want to know why President Obama let her speak? This is going to come as a shock to the far left, but Obama agrees with her on the basic idea that GITMO must be closed. By letting the Code Pink protester ramble on, President Obama got his message about Congress needing to authorize the transfer of detainees out of GITMO on the frontpage of every website, and it will be the lead story all over cable news tonight.
    .
    .
In March, Republicans admitted that they are the ones who are preventing GITMO civilian trials, yet groups like Code Pink continue to blame Obama.
    .
    .
Obama handled the heckler beautifully, and the whole thing worked out to his advantage, because now the world will get to see who is really preventing the closure GITMO.

I never expect anything less from our great POTUS. However, some people in our wonderful nation always expect the worse For our President.

Mr. President, continue to be the principal man that you are. Continue to share the brilliant mind that you have been given to study hard, work hard, listen hard, and speak with respect and great confidence.

I am and will ever be proud to have worked so hard to elect this beautiful soul as our 44th President and then work even harder with all of you to re-elect him in 2012. God help us all, when he leaves in 2017.

I am proud to call you, Mr. President, my President.HZ
