This is night two of wonderful music from the Obama 2012 campaign playlist. I hope you enjoy the happy memories.
Thanks for the memories!
Especially Miss Aretha
Thank you for posting the picture of the year.
Congrats on 1st, Almablanca!
Well lookachu Miss 2nd place!
Whoa! What a nice surprise. You can skip the birthday present in October … this’ll do.
I’ll take your place for the birthday present – if it be a picture of PBO
yes, so many things to remember
don’t know if it would be useful for Team Obama to recruit supporter who are icons in music, sports entertainment etc. to go around the country encouraging people to enroll in ObamaCare
thanks UT. Just FYI folks. As we all know, 2014 is coming and guess who is already running ads here in the Northland. That would be Michelle Bachmann….. Jim Graves is running again to try and oust her.
Hopefully, she and Marcus will just turn to salt by then. Eek.
Ha! That’d be neat!
Since we’re enjoying some memories, this should put a grin on everyone’s face.
Saw this last night – stil laughing!
Night owler checking in for the night shift
I think you’ve left that message before, and it makes me smile! Hello, fellow (somewhat, sometimes) night owler.
Hi my fellow night owler
FORWARD! Obama’s Theme song
Thanks for the music, Utal.
Heading to bed because I’m actually tired. I’m going to play smart and shut off my laptop tonight so I won’t be tempted to reactivate it when I wake up during the night. Sweet dreams everyone and have a memorable Memorial Day when it arrives.
Good nigtht, VC. Sweet dreams.
Hell-oooo there, Theo! What’s on the Memorial Day agenda? You wouldn’t be in my neck of the woods, would you, or are you enjoying some well-earned rest time?
I’m definitely in your neck of the woods, but on a bit of a whirlwind trip. Back home tomorrow. Back to my much warmer weather, mind you…
That’s it. I’m convinced that you and your family have shares in ALL the airlines. /smh/
BTW, IMO being in a constantly warm/hot climate must be so monotonous. A little chill here and there, especially when not planned for, adds a little spice to living, don’t you think? Think of how much more you’ll appreciate your ‘much warmer weather’ when you get back home. Just saying (without a trace of jealousy – yea right).
You must be right, because I’ve been dreaming very appreciatively of my warm California weather the last few days… Actually, when I left on Thursday, I had air conditioning on in the car on my way to the airport. When we boarded our flight, the captain said we might regret getting on that flight because the temperature was five degrees above freezing, and would be three degrees by the time we landed… But, I have to admit, yesterday was lovely. I still love Toronto with a passion, regardless of the weather.
Bruce Springsteen FORWARD!
Yeah, yeah yeah some person might say it is cheesy but I like it!! It’s fun
Yardarm, Bobfr, Jovie, and the rest of our TODville Community members who have served in any of our Armed Forces. Greatly appreciate you all for your service. Those who have family members who have served or are serving, Thank you for your service. Thank you for those who have served and paid the ultimate price. May God continues to Bless you all, your families and our Nation.
Good Night All. Sweet Dreams.
Hear Hear! Goodnight, Nena.
Thank you Nena. . .
Other than thinking about who won and sharing the win with my closest friends, my fondest memories from election nights 2008 and 2012 are that – coincidentally – my oldest granddaughter was visiting me BOTH times, and hugged me when she saw me cry. And then laughed at me for crying!
Awwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2008 I was bawling my eyes out in 2012 I was screaming at the top of my lungs. I will never forget both of those occasions they are memories that will last a lifetime and the great beyond
It’s still something I’m sure we ALL want to scream about, each and every day, when we think deep about it. Scream with joy!
We are so lucky.
PBS VIDEO: CONSTITUTION USA with Peter Sagal (4 episodes)
CONSTITUTION USA, a production of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning team of tpt National Productions and Insignia Films, is hosted by Peter Sagal, the smart, sharp-witted star of NPR’s popular Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!. Over the course of the four-hour series, Sagal hits the road, travelling cross country on a customized red, white and blue Harley-Davidson, to find out where the Constitution lives, how it works, and how it unites us as a nation. From New York to San Francisco, from Missoula, Montana to Tyler, Texas, Sagal visits dozens of cities and small towns across America introducing viewers to some of today’s major constitutional debates—free speech in the digital age, same-sex marriage, voting rights, separation of church and state, presidential power in the post-9/11 world, to name just a few—and the fascinating stories of the people they affect every day.
And for each contemporary story, Sagal dives into the history behind it and talks to prominent legal scholars, historians and public figures, finding out what the Constitution says, the dramatic historical events and crises that defined the Constitution, and why all this matters. Each one-hour episode of CONSTITUTION USA vividly illuminates a central theme essential to the Constitution.
The magnificent Miss Franklin
The President has something on his mind
By Smartypants (May 6, 2013)
President Obama’s speech at the 2012 Democratic Convention was structured around a theme: citizenship.
We, the people — recognize that we have responsibilities as well as rights; that our destinies are bound together; that a freedom which asks only, what’s in it for me, a freedom without a commitment to others, a freedom without love or charity or duty or patriotism, is unworthy of our founding ideals, and those who died in their defense.
As citizens, we understand that America is not about what can be done for us. It’s about what can be done by us, together through the hard and frustrating but necessary work of self-government. That’s what we believe.
Today was a great day, so I found the best song I could to celebrate that.
I love ya, America! I love the fact you finally got your shit together and elected and re-elected Barack Obama as our President, from sea to shining sea! We’re not a perfect union, yet – may never be – but at least some of us have been tryin’ to work together and get it right, here in the 21st century.
So glad those of us who found TOD kept our little secret (with Chips’ help), and have this safe haven to talk about our pride in our President and Vice President and their families … and share our frustrations over the negatives, just to help each other get through them. And I love how when we hear President Obama say, at the end of many of his speeches, “God bless the United States of America,” it means something in his heart.
I love all of our veterans, past, present, and future, who went into harm’s way and, luckily, returned to our shores knowing they helped keep us free! None of us here think of it as an empty phrase to keep repeatin’: Thank you for your service.
On Memorial Day, we remember our fallen war heroes, those on Eternal Patrol … who weren’t able to return in their physical bodies to help us carry the torch, but remain with us in spirit. Most of us will have the day off tomorrow, and all of us should think of those who gave their all, not only for our country but for all the peoples of the world.
Have a good Memorial Day.
Very beautiful, JOB.
Thank you, friend. Goodnight.
Well said, JOB. You nailed it!
Thanks, JackieG. Have a good day.
Thanks, pf. Have a good day.
‘Same … no We Are Not the Same … That’s What Makes Us STRONG ….’
Thank you UT …. Dierks truly ‘gets it’!

It is, in_deed, not ‘music’ but it IS MUSIC
On the day we strive to honor those who DIED to sustain the American Promise, I have a very simple message to those who continue to enable the GOP to undermine our President and our Republic – STOP.
That STOP is directed explicitly at Senator Harry Reid. He has had every opportunity to STOP unprecedented obstruction in the US Senate. He has FAILED.
The moment – should that dark, tragic moment ever happen – that the GOP gains control of the US Senate they will waste not a single nanosecond to obliterate the minority party from any ability to halt their agenda.
We must DEMAND that Senator Reid END every form of GOP obstruction – be it the legislative process or approval of President Obama’s appointments.
What Senator Reid has enabled is Boehner having total cover. If Boehner had an avalanche of Senate passed legislation, which Senator Reid could have assured since Jan 2011, he would have had and will have a vastly more untenable position than the one Senator Reid has provided for him.
So, I post these missives now, because I may not have time on 27 May because of my schedule.
As we honor, on Memorial Day, those who gave their life for us @SenatorReid reflect on your enabling the Senate GOP to do vast harm. TY.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) May 27, 2013
The Scandal @SenatorReid is you enabling unprecedented Senate GOP obstruction & thereby sheltering Boehner. Cc @NancyPelosi @Pfeiffer44 @VP— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) May 27, 2013
On the day we honor those who died for the USA @SenatorReid you should listen to youtube.com/watch?v=gdJ7Ad… & STOP enabling #GOP terrorism.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) May 27, 2013
Yes We Can
time for some rest …. wishing all TODers, irrespective of time zones, a lovely 27 May 2013

Same to you!
wow bob! RT-ing.
aloha and good evening todlings!
here’s a musical campaign memory to make you smile
Morning TODobots! It is Memorial Day 2013 and there’s so much that can be remembered. Today, let’s focus on those who truly served/serve, in whatever capacity, and give no/far less attention to those who are in it for personal gain.

Nobody is ready to rise and shine yet? That’s a good sign – means all you EST-ers in the States are actually sleeping in (I hope). Wise choice!
Good Morning VC! I see you and Susanne are welcoming the early risers this morning.
‘Good Morning’ to you SW! I see you are off to an early start. Wishing you a meaningful and restful MD!
My dog seems to have a built in alarm clock and is a stickler for routine.
At any rate, I hope your Memorial Day is meaningful and restful as well.
Are you able to fall asleep again once doggie gets you up?
Not often, which is annoying on days when I really wanted to sleep in.
SW, I know that feeling of annoyance, even though I do not have a dog.
Not necessarily a bad thing. I can either get the day started and be productive. Or I can use that time as “me” time and read a book or see what’s going on at TOD.
I’m sure you can tell by my presence in the village which option usually makes it to the top of my list (though reading does follow fairly closely when I’m too lethargic to boot up the computer).
Happy Memorial Day! Very grateful for those who served, those who continue to serve and to the families of military service personnel & veterans.
Hello TOD! I’m actually having a bit of a hard time w/ comments @ TOD. I’ve had the name Gazelle for a while. Then another person popped in as Gazelle. Chips did let that person know that there’s a Gazelle already at TOD & to chose another name or add something to that name. So we then have Gazelle62. I’d like to ask that my family at TOD be specific and realise that there are 2 names in TODville: Gazelle then Gazelle62. We are two different folks at TOD. Gazelle is an easy name when commenting and easier to do just that w/out adding unique qualifiers
If the name “Gazelle” means something very deep & profound for you, Gazelle62, then I will change my name; if not, then vice-versa. That seems to me a workable solution. Let me know what works for you
Until you both sort this out, thank you, Gazelle # 1, for the clarification. And, Good Morning to YOU!
I certainly do not mind changing my name to Layla if Chips approves it. Sorry about the inconvenience.
Hi Layla, it would definitely be better if you didn’t use Gazelle, it would get confusing! Thank you, and welcome!
Good Morning and Happy Memorial Day……A big THANK YOU to all servicemembers, and their families, who have sacrificed to keep our country safe.
The return of debtor’s prisons? On whom will these sentences most likely be imposed?
“Sentenced to debt: Some tossed in prison over unpaid fines”
Cash-strapped cities and states increasingly are trying to tap a previously overlooked pot of money – uncollected fines, fees and other costs imposed by civil and criminal courts – in order to help them balance their books.
And when people don’t pay these court-ordered debts, some local officials have not been shy about tossing them in jail, leading to the creation of modern-day “debtor’s prisons” full of poor offenders, advocates say.
Oh my, SW, the stink of Dickens Victorian London raises its ugly head again. Here’s an idea, states, counties, cities. RAISE taxes to sensible levels that meet your needs, spend them wisely on good services and schools. Encourage small business by making the set up and application process for such businesses friendly and hassle-free. Make your state, county, city, so attractive and filled with good services that you attract families and businesses. Be a decent place to live, not a punitive one. Oh, and clean the nuts our of your state, county or city governments.
” RAISE taxes to sensible levels that meet your needs, spend them wisely on good services and schools…”
Jackie G, you’re talking about using common sense in governing. What a concept.
I wish people throughout the country would sharply focus on WHERE the collected taxes go (hint the bulk is given back to huge corporations which then recycle this in the form of political campaign dollars).
there is an author who described in a interview on NPR scenarios in which local governments collect taxes from employee wages and then turn round and hand it right back to the company that hires the workers.
unless the tax scam is exposed, there will not be any money for schools, local infrastructure and vital programs
that’s kinda crazy concept: Debtor’s prison. Because, it costs money to keep people in jail. And who is paying that cost? us. we’re paying to keep people who can’t pay fines in jail.
We are hearing about these situations too often…
“Oregon teen school bomb suspect had ‘detailed checklist:’ Police”
(Reuters) – Authorities in northwestern Oregon said on Sunday that a teenager arrested for producing what authorities called explosives for a Columbine-style attack on his high school had meticulously planned his foiled bombing.
During a search of the [suspect’s] residence, police officers found six home-made bombs, including pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails and napalm bombs under the floorboards in the suspect’s bedroom…. also discovered diagrams of school, which “led us toward the conclusion that he was planning a Columbine-style attack” …”This was not driven by emotion, this was driven by a mission.”
Someone mentioned that this was worth checking – it’s MHP and the young 9yr old Chicagoan ‘activist’. He speaks with purpose and conviction; quite impressive.
Thanks, SW. Haven’t watched them carefully yet ’cause I’m keeping an eye on the TOD door, but I surely will later.
NBC continues its drumbeat. No story can be reported without adding “while President Obama is dealing with all the scandals and controversies that continue to ROIL the White House”. Both the trip to Ok. yesterday was reported with that line and reporting on President Obama’s Memorial Day activities was reported with that friendly reminder. It’s so bad that Mark Halperin was the “voice of reason” on the report, more or less, tamping down some of the “scandal” hype, but I noticed he managed to get the word “impeachment” in his reporting, as in ‘no need for impeachment at this point’—–so kept his good standing with his news media buds. This media era needs to be studied—-never have so many been so willing to engage in distorted, misleading and false reporting. We are desperately in need of a new wave of honest journalism. Not shocking news or a brand new idea, I acknowledge. I just can’t believe what I’m hearing every day. It’s a bunch of nonsense told with straight faces. Frustrating and infuriating to the max.
Well, my Grandmother said you can’t fight city hall. The President came to DC, and he is going against the grain, so to speak.
He is taking the Beltway Culture on, and they don’t like that, they don’t like him, as a result.
After Halperin used a vulgar term to refer to President Obama, he shouldn’t be back on MSNBC in my opinion.
While the media continues to focus on and create faux scandals, the President is quietly going about the business we elected him for and getting things done. As we watch the stock market continue to climb, jobs being created, housing market turning around, Obamacare is being implemented and we are starting to reap the benefits, the deficit is decreasing, etc…we know that he is doing what he needs to do. The MSM, as much as they would like to think they do, does NOT dictate the President’s agenda.
We are fortunate to have a President who stays calm under pressure and doesn’t react to every cry of the “sky is falling” that the MSM broadcasts. He knows what is important and what isn’t. He reacts when necessary and not before. He is focused. He is thoughtful. He is strategic. He is intelligent. He has strength of character.
Interesting re. Obama speechwriter Cody Keenan…
Moooooooorning everyone, just working on R&S, see ya in a bit.
Ooooo, she left out the ‘ish’. Hmmmm. Now I have to figure out if that means it will be sooner rather than later. ‘Bit’ does suggest a very short period of time to MY mind. Does it to hers?
It could alsomean that’s she’s just getting started so it’s going to be SOOO much later she decided to not even ‘ish’-timate. Lord, she confuses me at times, and who’s to say she doesn’t do it deliberately? I suppose I’d best go get a stool and sit by the door since I’m already tired from walking past the door in a disinterested manner since 6:00am. Sigh! That Lady mayor! Sigh!
Hey Chips! Quick question. Does that ‘bit’ give me time to go and eat breakfast BEFORE posting time? I’m starting to feel hungry.
2 X ish = 1 X bit = before midday
Not math, 99ts! I’m math challenged (ask Amk). Seriously, does before midday mean I can safely go and eat NOW?
amk comes at a cost.
I provide maths assistance at no charge – accuracy not guaranteed
/groan/ Good evening, you potential usurer you!
why potential ?
A last ditch appeal to your better side?
what better side ?
Ah, Amk. The one your mother worked so hard to nurture. The one that recognizes ‘random acts of kindness’ (to the poor and beleaguered technology challenged) are priceless. The one I’m told everyone has. The better side that you reveal, by your question, you have mislaid, forgotten, sold(?), buried. /smh/ Very sad. But, all is not lost. /perking up/ I feel chosen blessed to have been granted this opportunity to help you identify it, and maybe later to locate it. Change is possible. Go for it, Amk!
I checked the maths with young nate (who has had a couple of good posts recently – when Nate stays with the stats he is good)
I can probably guarantee if you go and eat breakfast – there will be a new post while you eat – if you wait for the new post – there would have been time to eat breakfast – sigh – toss a coin
This is EXACTLY how I read Ms Chips – if I go eat there will be a post in my absence – EVERY TIME! I swear the battery in her spy camera into my home never wears out. Seems like it’s the same in the camera she has in your place.
There are many words and phrases synonymous to “ish”. My grandfather used to use the word “directly”…”I’ll be there directly.” We learned that that word encompassed an infinite range of time.
I think “bit” is another synonym for “ish”. Note that she did not even qualify that by saying a “little bit”. So “bit” may well be the upgrade version of the “ish” clock.
‘So “bit” may well be the upgrade version of the “ish” clock’ Thanks, SW …..I think. I’d best go and eat before I pass out.
Just my humble opinion. We’ll get a preview of how the “bit” clock works when Rise and Shine is posted.
Problem is the preview will only be effective for THIS time. Parameters will be changed next time…guaranteed. I guess the bright side is it keeps us on our toes – CC’s method to keep us up and running.
The phrase I used to see at work a lot was “in the fullness of time” – tended to mean never – but on the odd occasion it came to be
So Bob Dole said that the Republicans need to put a sign on their door saying “Closed For Repair”. He said he doubt if Reagen could make it in today Republican Party, but then I heard he blame President Obama for the gridlock in Washington. Now does that make any sense? I guess he couldn’t come on Fox without saying something negative about POTUS, specially when he knows it a lie.
Like most Republicans Bob Dole talks out of both sides of his mouth, and if given the chance he would give his left nut just to be recognized by these nut jobs.
I agree Don.
He also did the big praise for Clinton (wonder who it was that defeated Dole?)
When POTUS is in New Jersey tomorrow touring the rebuilding from Sandy hurricane, FLOTUS will have some New Jersey kids from that same area to help with the kitchen garden summer harvest.
GM Anniebella and friends. How could Dole blame PBO for anything while his republican friends nearly danced on his wheelchair while voting against a bill which he was for. ( I can’t remember the name of the bill)
Morning COS, that is a good question, I guess it might be like Don said Dole is talking out of both side of his mouth.
It was the United Nations treaty that would ban discrimination against people with disabilities
Thanks SW. The whole scene was shameful with him sitting there watching the obstruction.
Yes, I remember that now, they did bring Bob Dole in the senate chamber in his wheel chair and his Senate Republicans said to hell with you, I am going to vote against it still.
Wasn’t it The Americans with Disabilities.
Forget to say Act. It’s early here in LA.
