The third installment of the Obama 2012 playlist. As usual, hope you enjoy the pleasant memories.
Hello GE TODers
Let’s stay together!

#TrustBarack For Obvious Reasons
So McCain thinks that we should help these guys out, huh?
This is dated May 14th….if McCain knew about this and he’s STILL pulling this crap, it’s even worse than we thought.
df, what is happening in Syria is a direct extension of the vast Sunni, Shiite genocidal feud that GWB/Cheney unleashed by invading Iraq.
It should be noted that the Israeli approach to all that is happening not just in Syria, but Iraq has been, effectively, GO FOR IT.
No one knows how many more children and adults will be slaughtered before these ancient feudal groups decide they have something better to do than butchering each other.
The worst thing our President could do is provide even more deadly weapons to these rival factions – especially since Iranian operatives like Hezbollah & Al Qaeda would benefit from American tax payers underwriting the cost of their ability to slaughter the innocent in Syria and perhaps accomplish a few terrorist acts elsewhere.
#TrustBarack And be grateful every breath you take that he is President
Thank you for this clear summary, Bob.
LP, this is horrifying and stomach churning. There seems to be an assortment of bad choices in Syria–all of them ruthless and barbaric. This is about the worst image possible for a group that is looking for international support. There is no real leadership on the rebel side and Assad is increasing insane.
You have summed it up…….it’s Sophie’s Choice.

The Christian Way to Call Someone a Bastard
A guy was getting ready to tee off on the first hole when a second golfer approached and asked if he could join him. The first said that he usually played alone, but agreed to the twosome.
They were even after the first few holes. The second guy said, “We’re about evenly matched, how about playing for five bucks a hole?” The first guy said that he wasn’t much for betting, but agreed to the terms.
The second guy won the remaining sixteen holes with ease.
As they were walking off number eighteen, the second guy was busy counting his $80.00. He confessed that he was the pro at a neighboring course and liked to pick on suckers. The first fellow revealed that he was the Parish Priest.
The pro was flustered and apologetic, offering to return the money. The Priest said,
“You won fair and square and I was foolish to bet with you. You keep your winnings.”
The pro said, “Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?”
The Priest said, “Well, you could come to Mass on Sunday and make a donation……
And, if you want to bring your mother and father along, I’ll marry them.

Well, I have had an almost Intertube free weekend. The missus and I have been busy busy busy.
Met our friend and his couchsurfer from Beijing for lunch at Son of a Gun (which I recommend to all SoCal TODers—tweet me for details). The couchsurfer just started working for Greenpeace China; I’m in awe of him for working for an outfit which is basically illegal in the country. He was telling us how China’s territorial waters are essentially a huge dead zone, which is why Chinese fishing boats always get caught poaching in S. Korean and Japanese waters. Quite frightening. He told us that if we ever go to China, whatever we do DO NOT EAT FISH. But other than that, he’s as in love with Beijing as we are with L.A.
I have nothing to say at the moment about Johnny McCain’s gambol inside rebel-occupied Syria. Really, what he’s doing there is beyond understanding. Does he think he has the mojo to push the US to a war? Has he not been paying attention for the past 5 years that Barack Obama is not a man to be pushed? Baffling. And in Syria it seems as if both sides are becoming equally odious, and the only ones suffering are the civilians.
I’m on my fourth day of temperance and I’ve replaced cocktails with tea and Crystal Light.
Hope to have something more meaningful to contribute tomorrow, but this week promises to be busy as well.
I’m calling it a night. LL, glad that you had a good, restful weekend w/o the tubes:) Have to do that for sanity and grounding from time to time:)
China probably has a dead sea because they dump so much toxic waste in it….help us all for our ignorance. I don’t think I’ll be going to China anytime real soon, but others might…so thx for the head’s up.
Time to stretch out. See everyone tomorrow. A new day awaits!
Thinking twice on that, State has to be informed of a Senators overseas travel.
But with McCains connections, does he go all in and sneak there without Kerry and The President knowing?
And wouldn’t It be embarrassing to acknowledge that fact?
We may never know, but McCain might be undermining Kerry.
Look at his Friend Graham, and how he joked about it? Look at how Meaghan McCain reacted? Coy?
Something isn’t right.

History will not be kind to John McCain HZ – unlike how it will treat President Obama – who will be found throughout the books and stories and monuments – not so McCain – he will be forgotten.
HZ, I pray that your statement, “Sen. McCain will come to Shame” comes true. He is long past his time of accounting for actions that have brought pain and embarrassment to the US. He needs to call it a day and find a quiet home in the AZ desert where he can contemplate the many ways he has let his pettiness and hatred spoil his life.
here, here, Jackie; does he have an extra home in Az? or, will he have to live in his main one? If he likes the desert, maybe he could buy a new home in Afghanistan or, maybe the Sahara? or maybe Mojave? He can take miss linsey with him! bye-bye mr. mcangry!
I am totally glad McCain picked Sarah Palin as his running mate but was not then. Now I know that helped our guy win! Just think what it would be like at this time with both of them in charge!

Hispanic business leaders will descend on Washington this week for an all-day meeting hosted by top administration officials as President Barack Obama seeks to maintain congressional momentum for immigration legislation even while saying little about the issue publicly.
The immigration bill is Obama’s best chance of a major legislative victory in his second term. So, he’s been choosing his words carefully — or often, not at all.
Obama has taken just one immigration-focused trip this year, traveling to Las Vegas to outline his views in January. In recent appearances in Austin, Texas, and Baltimore, he’s not mentioned the topic at all, focusing instead on the economy.
The May 29 meeting, the inaugural event of the Hispanic Business Leaders Forum, underscores the cautious strategy Obama has adopted to push for his top domestic priority. While Obama remains quiet in public, his staff is escalating a private White House campaign to build support for the bill.

Right on and Yes We Can,….
As Bob says…
@TrustBarak…he has earned it
Good Morning…..kind of amazing that no one seems to be talking about McCain’s memorial day day trip…..in fact, he has dropped down into the “hidden column on Huff…..
The Bill Press Show mentioned it in their news summary with no comment. I don’t believe Morning Joe has mentioned it.
It was mentioned on the Philadelphia NBC station this morning.
M Joe too busy talking about the Attorney General attacking the media – as usual – very self centered news
I think GMA mentioned it as well.
I would think any talk about McCain’s trip should also mention the tasteless tweet from his BFF (but we know the MSM would never be critical of Ms Lindsey).
“Graham tweets ‘joke’ about John McCain dying in Syria”
Wisecracking about a diplomatic mission now makes your obsession and accusations about the Benghazi Not-Scandal off limits, Linds. You blew it. You were tasteless, you showed terrible judgment, and your timing was atrocious.
Good morning! Operating on zero sleep — hate being ill. Meanwhile, opening story on CBS was “PBO traveling to NJ to rebuild confidence after weeks of scandal” —
@NorahODonnell @MajorCBS We have complete confidence in Pres @BarackObama; no confidence at all in you MSM #Newstainers. cc: @VP @PressSec— Alycee (@jazziz2) May 28, 2013
Looks like Boehner’s approach to leadership is to let those he is supposed to lead do what they want to do, deny responsibility, and criticize those who are working…i.e., President Obama and his administration. He claims that there is an arrogance of power in the administration. Even though he declares that jobs is what he cares most about, he is doing nothing about it; instead choosing to jump on the Benghazi, IRS, AP bandwagon.
“John Boehner’s shrinking power”
House Speaker John Boehner, who by title and position should be the second most powerful person in Washington, sure doesn’t seem or sound like it…He has little ability to work his will with fellow House Republicans. He has quit for good his solo efforts to craft a grand bargain on taxes and spending. And he hasn’t bothered to initiate a substantive conversation with President Barack Obama in this calendar year… this prompted Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to declare on MSNBC that if Boehner were a woman, he would be known as the weakest speaker in U.S. history.
Boehner runs a House in which many of the traditional levers of power are gone and of little use: earmarks for members’ districts, important committee assignments and the backing of party leaders for reelection. Most young conservatives don’t care about any of the three — and see as manifestations of what’s wrong with and corrupt about Congress and their party. They get more mileage from snubbing their leaders…So, he [Boehner] has adopted an entirely different style this year, one of deference: deference to members, deference to committees, and deference to others in leadership
And they are so certain, because of these scandals, that they are taking the Senate and gaining seats in the House.
They’re certain if it. I just listened to Hans Nichols in the Bloomberg channel and that’s what he said, and they are using the IRS scandal to retake the senate.
That’s what they are running on, and nothing else.
That’s stupid! If they think that T Baggers are the only people that are going to show up in the midterms?
Thus, The Obama base better had defend Obamacare because if they don’t show up…
They assume that more people care about these “scandals” than actual do. The constant talk of scandals has taken on the annoying sound of crickets that you learn to tune out. Unless the GOP’s focus on these “scandals” generate jobs and reduces the cost of the necessities of life, it doesn’t mean a whole lot to people. They do care that they have access to affordable health care and that insurance companies can’t deny coverage for pre-existing conditions.
But I agree with you Jovie. The Democrats do have to step up and defend the accomplishments of this administration. Otherwise, an unfavorable outcome should not come as a surprise.
@thehill @alexanderbolton The only thing senate republicans care about is winning the senate so they can impeach the black guy. Wake up!!— Apollo1312 (@Jovie141) May 28, 2013

“Obama faces pushback on national security shift”
By Steve Benen – Tue May 28, 2013
…since President Obama announced his vision for ending the nation’s post-9/11 war footing and rejecting the notion of perpetual war, and while the pushback from the right was immediate, Republican opposition to the shift appears to be hardening…Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), for example, complained a change in posture would show a “lack of resolve” and signal “retreat.” Neither complaint make much sense for those who actually heard or read the president’s remarks, but as is too often the case, the politics is trumping the substance.
But of particular interest were Republican complaints about the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, which President Obama, like George W. Bush, John McCain, Colin Powell, and David Petraeus, wants to close. The GOP line is woefully incoherent…. Rep. Peter King: “… many experts believe that it [Guantanamo] did work… The president had five years to end this if he really wanted to. He could’ve moved most of those prisoners out of the country.” King, the former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, must know better. Less than a month after President Obama’s 2009 inauguration, King’s Republican colleagues began throwing a major tantrum over the very idea of closing the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay. Three months later, Congress blocked the president from transferring detainees. A year later, they Congress did it again. Does King not remember any of this? If not, why not?
This is a joke right?
PBO faces pushback from Republicans on everything including umbrellas!
