It’s the weekend. Kick back and enjoy these memories from the Obama 2012 campaign playlist
It shall be so.
Congrats on 1st.
Congrats. It’s your lucky day!
WOW – it is my lucky day indeed. My President, My VP Biden, FLOTUS & Second Lady Dr. Jill, couldn’t ask for more – thanks UT!
WOW indeed, Hopef! My waving to you up there would definitely be anti-climactic.
Thanks VC – I always appreciate the waves!
Okay then / 1 high 5 coming up/
Oooh love it! One of my favorite pics in the past year. Thanks VC
In that picture of POTUS, FLOTUS, and VP, POTUS looks like he is singing. and FLOTUS is blushing.
I respect and admire those two women so much.
Two gorgeous women. Love their outfits.
Can you just imagine that being Ann Romney and Mrs. Paul Ryan as First and Second Ladies? Oh no no no no no no. I can’t even imagine. So thankful I don’t have too.
I was thinking, can you imagine Laura Bush and Lynne Cheney like this? Naaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Laura Bush probably were trying to figure out like the rest of us, how the hell could anyone love Dick Cheney?
I love these two most intelligent and warm-spirited women. Deeply respect them.
two very intelligent ladies who are not pretentious in the relation to ordinary people and set a very high standard for us in the way they respect each other and take very good care of their families
Congrats on 1st hf!!!!
Another great thread, UT, thank you.
Alycee presented all of us with a very important reminder of 1 June 1921 in the previous thread – yet another example of why TOD is the place for substantial learning as well as fun and passionate support of our President and the American Promise.

You should also send it to @whitehouse, @blog44, @jearnest44, and @Macon44. They read stuff also.
Good suggestion UT. Want to avoid ‘spamming’ all my followers so I sent it to three of your 4 suggested recipients since that’s all the characters I had available for one additional tweet. Maybe others will send similar tweets to folk who should be informed.

H/T to our wonderful Alycee for bringing the horror of the Black Wall St genocidal, domestic terrorist tragedy to our attention on its 92nd Anniversary.

Thank you Alycee and Mr. Bobfr for bringing this over. The sad part about this is it was not ever mentioned in schools and most of never even heard of this “terrorist act” way back when. I thank God that I came from a family that shared this and everything they could at family gatherings. There was a play at City College in NY last yea Re-in acting this travesty. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend due to my obligation with others getting our President reelected for this second term. I researched as much as I could whenever I could and I was truly amazed and grateful that my family knew about this and shared it with us.
Talk about terroists. The KKK have done enough damage to this country and the Tea Party is just another name for them.
Thank you LDS for your comments and yes the KKK/TeaParty domestic terrorists have been and remain dangerous threats to the American Promise.
Let’s challenge the two current Senators from OK to bring recognition to the travesty that the bombing of Black Wall St, Tulsa, OK, represents.

I cannot believe that I still get emotional when I read and see documented videos concerning this.
To this day I cannot watch “Rosewood”.
I have tried many times and it just overwhelms me.This is just ten minutes of the beginning…….too painful.
Oooo Lootenant. You know those Okies don’t remember that terrible piece of their history. That’s been under the rug for 100 years.
Well, Sailor, it’s way past time for us to pull that rug away and shine the light of a thousand suns on it ….

you are the twitter warrior bob! #BRAVO
Started by one womans lie.
Reminds me of Emmett Till and others……it just takes ONE LIE.
Sounds like Repugs BS even now! ONE LIE……and so on….and so on, then you have a full bown scandal. They have been doing this for a looooong time. It is way over due to pull the covers and shine the light on their evil souls.
It is beyond stupid. It’s a mixture of fear and hate. They minimize their fear with a gun and the mob. Without either one they are nothing.
“They minimize their fear with a gun and the mob. Without either one they are nothing.”
So sadly true, Sailor.
Aye Lootenant. Good day to you sir.
Yep, Bob, we all had a common “mom” and she didn’t live in Eden. Every person in the world ought to remember her on Mother’s Day.
One more…( I can hear my mom singing in my memories and it brings a smile
Thanks…..our PBS station presented an hour long Sinatra special tonight, but one hour isn’t enough, and this I can keep!!! I bet I’m not the only one on this blog who really, really, really likes Sinatra……!!
I’m certain:) Smooooth
I’m a big Sinatra fan! Grew up in a house where it was blaring all the time! (had WWII folks for parents)
Frank Sinatra has the same timbre of voice as PBO.
Sinatra?! Be still my heart!
Carolyn, indeed. I love Sinatra. Another great musician who left us with great music. He was a very good writer and director of some of the orchestras that played with him. Great to have seen him conduct.
I was just sitting off of my front bedroom yesterday while trying to relax and allow the pain to leave me alone, so I clicked on my phone and listened to Sinatra Duet album. Great time in my creative space. Enjoyed every song and artist on the album.
I do believe POB could have been on that album as well. Lovely.HZ

UT – you have had some amazing posts today – and generated some great discussions (leaving football aside ) The tweets were a delight – I just love God on twitter – a dose of reality.
I’m always amazed at the links folks find that are just so interesting to read – and so different to the continual whinge whinge from the MSM
Some of my favorites today (& apologies that I didn’t track the original posters)
http://krebscycle.tumblr.com/post/51912884114/that-hopey-changey-thing-at-the-department-of-justice – best of the day. Reading it through – the discussion on GWB and his actions
“In recent years, the Bush administration has recast the federal government’s role in civil rights by aggressively pursuing religion-oriented cases while significantly diminishing its involvement in the traditional area of race.”
Sad reminder of the past – so much was never heard outside of the local areas
amazing blogger is smartypants
FayPax – fabulous blog
Thanks 99ts. I’ve often wondered the same thing discussed in thepoliticalpragmatic. How can the wives of these hateful, heartless, immoral misogynists stand them? It’s a question for the ages.
This one – also – close to my favorite of the day
UT, ************** ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Thank you for your beautiful gift to me and all of us here.)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))HZ
You are so brilliant as well on Twitter. I thank you.HZ

Was VP Biden and Dr. Biden on vacation this pass week?
Chgo Trib has a headline you don’t see that often—-”Man charged with having sex with a pit bull at the city pound”. Ay yi yi yi yi.
Yikes. Oh, heavens.
Awwwww, poor nutty hothead goofball tea party darlin’ Joe Walsh. He thought he was going to be the next Illinois GOP Chairman, and even his fellow Repubs rejected him and chose some lobbyist instead, unsurprisingly. He was too crazy for the voters, even too crazy for the Repub Party—–and that’s crazy. Maybe he and Bachmann can go on the road as some traveling freak show—–they could angrily yell out nonsense stuff and people could laugh.
The man they chose sounds rather sane –
“I’m excited about it, I’m a 30-year veteran of Republican politics of this state and wether you like government or don’t, it’s there and it’s a necessity,” Dorgan said.
Getting up to have a snack my eye fell on the time – is it really that late? G’Night! Catch you guys later.
June 1st 1921-Black Wall Street- What a tragic story–and what bothers me so much is that I had never heard of it.
I completely agree. At 75 yrs old, AA never having heard even a whisper. My God!!
There are lots of things so called historians have not documented about blacks in this country. Hell, we were here before the Pilgrams came.
I’m just finishing up a book called 1493 about the human/animal/plant exchanges that went on after Columbus. It talks about this and also how we are taught that Native Americans and African slaves were powerless against the European but that is not so. Many of the first African slaves were actually warriors captured in battle and so led very strong resistance actions. The author also posits that the spread of malaria may have had something to do with turning people away from using indentured servant and toward owning slaves. (Indentured servants were far less trouble and cheaper than slaves at first). Lots of fascinating information on so many diverse subjects.
Now if only the truth was taught in the schools, eh?
Yes, we really need to broaden the scope and inclusiveness of our history programs. I attended a series of Social Justice workshops through my intermediate school district during which we read an article about a high school class where the teacher taught about the Civil Rights movement including much information and original sources, far beyond the little chapter in the textbook and including ALL points of view.. He found that black students were affirmed and many of the white students were appalled and ashamed, neither group knowing to much about the era before. It broke down a lot of barriers and created a lot of new understandings. The truth shall set you free.
Delurking to say “Thanks yardarm!” It’s been a very long time since I heard that one. Such a talent. Such a distinctive voice!
I have my moments lmrj.
For those interested in Africans in the Americas, I submit this lenghty presentation. You may want to bookmark it cause it’s very long. Enjoy.
Thanks Mr. Yardarm. This is an excellent archive.
~~~~ ~~~~ Anyone home?
No? Okay, gone to read for a bit. Sleep tight, you all!
IIII or IV? :p
Last night I thought of asking Utal why not ‘V’, but decided to leave it alone.
Do schools even teach Roman numerals anymore? I know they stopped teaching cursive writing ages ago; heck they’ve probably stopped teaching writing/penmanship altogether by now.
Read hopefruit’s explanation.
If we going by Roman numerals, this one should be V; the last one should have been IV. Something tells me that UT is aware but is putting her own special spin on it.
You’re the only person who got it right hopefruit.
GM, Hopef! Having a lot, a lot, a whole lot, of respect for Ms Utal’s intelligence (AND her ability to defend herself) I was in little doubt that she knew her Roman numerals, hence my decision earlier in the night to leave her ‘lllll’ alone! Notice I said I only considered ASKING ‘why not ‘V’?
And a very ‘Good Morning’ to you, Utal!
You’re right! I read it as IIII, not IIIII…see, more reason to use Roman Numerals so I don’t have to count every damn line.
Imagine IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII haha
I think it’s a topic of conversation….and can be whatever you want it to be!
I know a number people are already doing so but I believe that we need to be relentless, loud and persistent in defending AG Holder from the press, the extremist on the right and left who are attacking him for doing his job as AG.
The White House, Team Obama, DOJ, the Democratic delegation need to hear the voices of AG’s supporters because the detractors are now the loudest.
the media hosts that offer support (like Bashir & Rev Al) need to hear us say thank you for the support.
I know that the “blog tyrants” are busy but it would a good thing to do one of those extensive blog entries with a focus on AG, what he has achieved at DOJ, and a number of news articles that are supporting him & the DOJ. Such a blog focus could then be available for people to cross-post & tweet to those shouting that AG be fired
some people who are echoing the nonsense of extremes don’t have a clue as to WHY the gop is intent on undermining the DOJ & the work its doing in areas of civil rights.
I also wonder WHY there has been little attention paid to the fact that AG thought the leak investigation is so damaging enough that he voluntarily turned in his OWN telephone records to the investigators.
I also happen to believe that by attacking AG Holder, the rightwingers are hoping to interrupt the efforts that DOJ & PBO are making to bring the terror investigations back to the regular justice system and stop this notion of enemy combatants and special jails like GITMO
Linda I echo your excellent points Re AG Holder. In fact, I posted a series of tweets (pts 1-8) about what I believe all this anti-Holder MSM/GOP narratives are about. In addition to the GITMO issue that you mentioned, I also believe that the MSM/GOP do NOT want Dems to regain the House and keep the Senate in 2014. Holder has been very effective in combating voter suppression (as we saw with 2012), and will probably do the same in 2014. Thus they are trying to distract him and derail his progress on that front.
In addition to the other injustices (affecting mostly poor & minority groups) that he has been addressing, some of these folks just cannot come to grips with a Black person heading the justice department. I think it genuinely instills FEAR/resentment among some who know very well that Blacks have been on the receiving end of many blatant and subtle injustices, to which past DOJ’s turned a blind eye. This routine ignoring benefited many of those who now make up our GOP, MSM, as well as the PL contingent.
the primary reason for the attacks on AG Holder is the work he is doing on civil rights & you are very correct. If they can hinder this work then they are free to go forward with voter supression
I agree completely. Any time I hear someone on teevee going after AG Holder I email them if there is an email available. It seems many MSNBC shows no longer have email access. Bill Press went apoplectic the other day when I emailed him that he was no better than Morning Joe and Fox & Friends.
It is extremely disappointing that the DNC and elected Democrats are not showing AG Holder more support.
Yea, it is very discouraging. I never wanted to join tweeter but after seeing that a majority of media & punditry now seem to respond to tweets, I joined just to defend PBO and Team Obama against the lazy and biased reporting
‘I joined just to defend PBO and Team Obama against the lazy and biased reporting’
GCL, that’s exactly the reason I joined – to add my little wherever I could since that’s about all I could meaningfully do.
So it’s up to #wethepeople… as always (thinking of votes). Plus we outnumber them anyways, so if we shout loud enough we will get heard. I remember the #dontdoublemyrate campaign last summer and its effectiveness. Maybe we need a #letthedojdohisjob campaign?
@Team_Mitch So, ur idea of re connecting with middle class is to Demonize obama? Does 1998 midterms ring a bell?— Apollo1312 (@Jovie141) June 02, 2013
David Gregory is all over the place this a.m. showing some 2 yr. old video! of IRS employees line dancing. This is sheer desperation. He just said this kind of thing further angers people against the IRS and “a government out of control”. He said Repubs will link this to PBO, morph him into the IRS and make him proof of “a government out of control”. What utter nonsense. I often can’t believe my ears—-the junk they’re peddling on our news channels.
You still watch Sunday “Republican Love-in” shows?!?!? My…I really do admire your patience
Just innocently watching Weekend Today with Lester Holt and pregnant lesbian Jenna——a multi decade Today Show habit. And I’m not in the “don’t show me” crowd, hands over eyes and ears. I want to know what they’re reporting. I think it’s important to know. I want to know everything.
pregnant lesbian Jenna?
Good Morning….I’m with you Dot….I want to know what someone says rather than what someone tells me that was said….That’s the only way I feel I can legitimately fight untruths….so I bounce around checking things out…..
David Gregory should be careful when talking about dancing. He and Carl Rove are horrible dancers even for white guys.
You Rang Bill?
I hope everyone is watching Up With Steve Kornaki this morning. This is an excellent and long overdue discussion about the unprecedented Republican Party obstruction against President Obama’s administration. Norm Ornstein (AEI) is on the panel (see his article below). They are talking about the nuclear option and unprecedented filibuster abuse. It’s time to shine a light on this obstruction that has created gridlock in the congress. The American people voted to give President Obama a second term to implement his agenda and the Republicans are thumbing their noses at the electorate. Just think about the number of times you have used the term UNPRECEDENTED over the last five years when talking about Republican Party shenanigans. This has to stop. The American people have to get engaged because this obstruction is directly impacting their lives.
Parties prepare to reverse rhetoric on ‘nuclear option’ for judicial nominees
By Norm Ornstein
Ornstein is now talking about how President Obama should have nominated more judges to the bench when he first got into office, Ornstein must have been asleep, President Obama had bigger fish to fry namely focusing on the economy which was in the tank. Perhaps Ornstein thinks that the obstruction that President Obama faced didn’t exist. These fucking guys act like Mitch McConnell didn’t say that his number one job was to make President Obama a one term President.
Ariana Huffington going after Eric Holder on this week.
David Plouffe is taking on her, Rove and 2 other conservatives.
Ariana is a nobody!! Anyone paying attention to her is intellectually deficient!
LOL! The same Arianna HuffnPuff who kept huffin’ and puffin for Tim Geithner and VP Biden to resign all thru 2009 and 2010? HAHAHAHAHAH
Hehehe! Plouffe has Rove on the defensive, it’s funny!
Hope we can see the video of that.
And…, Huffington is arguing with plouffe that obama is just like bush on many issues. Picking fights with him and Rove not sure which side she is on.
She equally goes after both sides and embellishes her position to make it seem obama>>>>>>>bush
AHuff has HPost and HP Live TV and she is still being booked why? The idea that AH is always booked as a person representing the Left is offensive to me. ABC doesn’t have two GOPers one supporting and another not supporting the TBGOPers. They always book stauch TBGOPers and then add lukewarm Dems.
Does Karl Rove not have a Fox network to spew his hate and lies?
One thing I love about the people who have served under PBO is the fact that that still respect, admire and defend him – without PBO’s prompting.
I wish I could be a boss that ex-employees love, respect and admire!
Hope people also notice that PBO’s childhood friends, and adult friends (including old flames) still speak very highly of him – tells me all I need to know about his character
@ariannahuff Stop attacking AG Holder! Remember your headlines demanding Plame-leak investigations? 4 u its always about $. #Hypocrite— Linda Kyambadde (@globalcitizenln) June 02, 2013
This was Tim’s last tweet on Friday:
Storms now initiating south of Watonga along triple point. Dangerous day ahead for OK–stay weather savvy! http://t.co/B8ddJcDViI— Tim Samaras (@Tim_Samaras) May 31, 2013
It’s time to move from Oklahoma, that place is hell on earth!
Wow, Tim Samaras’s last tweet is eerie now: “Stay weather savvy”.
Morning everyone, your host with the most, UT, will be bringing you R&S! Have a blissful Sunday!
Holy smokes. So the 9 that were killed, they were 4 of the unfortunate 9? Wow. That is too bad. I feel for their families.
so sorry about the loss in one family!
I understand that a number of these storm chasers are often live-feeding on-the-ground information to the National Weather Service
