It is truly un-fucking-believable!!!!! We always knew he was an egomaniac and that his followers were a cult. But who knew the Guardian would just go ahead and confirm that for the world?????
But I now consider The Guardian part of the aiding and abetting. You have to be pretty egregiously stupid not to see that he’s a narcissistic opportunist.
SmartyPants, this is the single freakiest thing I have ever seen from any media outlet - I am utterly gobsmacked. And this is the friggin’ Guardian?!?! They are going to be one enormous laughing stock after this.
So am I way off? I think that they are getting so much push back on his bullshit that they want to see how awful he is.
I just finished reading this guy Jeremy Duns who chewed up and spit out GG’s post about the Swedish judicial system. It’s brilliant writing - Chipsticks you would love it! He writes like you. :) http://jeremyduns.net/2012/06/28/the-perils-of-googledemia/
OK, don’t make fun of me, but is that survey for real? I thought it was a made up joke. I consider myself on the liberal side, but I think this guy and that soldier Manning idiots. I think they belong in jail. They took an oath. They thought they could be famous. I think that so many people just don’t get the big picture. They need to find out the facts, and at least care about the facts.
Yes, it is important to respond to that fanboy survey and make it clear to The Guardian they have enabled espionage & treason against the American People.
Chips, I thought that it was just the U.S. media that are so infected with the Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS). Apparently Glenn Greenwald has managed to spread ODS in the UK! I wonder which country is next?
It’s incredible stuff, Nathkatun - British media utterly clueless about Greenwald’s background and agenda, so they’re drooling in admiration. But US media know this guy, but most of them drool too. Clinging to hope he’ll be well and truly exposed in coming days, especially after *that* tweet:
@TheStalwart The reality is that Laura Poitras and I have been working with him since February, long before anyone spoke to Bart Gellman
Lets hope so, Chips! As far as I am concerned this twit suggests that Greenwald was a collaborator with Snowden rather than an objective journalist reporting news from an unsolicited source.
Maybe Marcus could get together with the discarded Rio boyfriend—-Mr. B. might be looking to escape his dreadful future with Wife Crazy Eyes and Nutty Head proposing to be around 24/7 and …….
Hi Everyone - I’m so behind - think I’ll just go back and start at the boomer story again - memories - I can still hear my mother screaming “He’s dead, they’ve killed him” - all those dreams - and still no-onel would pass some gun control laws.
As for gg - he sure isn’t going to get any prizes for his reporting - or anything else. He will begone & PBO will carry on.
Oh - I nearly forgot - spent yesterday with grandbabe and her mother - so all is good in my world
Do you mean your mother screamed when JFK was killed? (So many were killed in the ’60s, of course, and there was a lot of screaming going on.) We were in class in high school in ’63, and the very, very stern nun who was Principal was on the p.a. system crying her eyes out, while announcing he had been shot. Before we could grasp what she was saying, we were shocked with her emotion - which made it somehow worse to deal with our own emotions. It wasn’t something we could ever have imagined would happen, before that.
On a much lighter note ~ So glad you spent yesterday with grandbabe and her mother! I saw my 2-y/o great grandson last week in Florida … oh, my. He’s been calling us here every day since we got back. Yesterday, his aunt was on the phone with me and was asking him what he had said he wanted, in the background.
Uh Oh indeed - but being the grandma - we don’t have to worry - just love them. :) Late starters in my family - I doubt I’ll get to g grandma - but who knows!
And yes - it was JFK - he died during the night in my world - my mother - the homemaker she was - used to get up early to get breakfast before my father left for work (my lovely man gets his own breakfast). It was a Saturday morning & she always turned on the radio & thus heard the news. After her screams I flew out of bed thinking there was a dead body in the living room. Weird how we never forget. The later assassinations didn’t have as much impact in my world as JFK. Until PBO, John Kennedy was the President to remember.
The assassinations of JFK, MLK, and RFK alone were enough to make me just want to wander off into the desert. I remember each, as though it were yesterday. Not sure how we all survived, tell ya the truth.
Thank you, God, for sending us President Barack Obama, to help make things right with the world, again!
It does look delicious, but what a statement about living in a bubble. The man can’t eat a meal without someone taking a picture of the plate after he’s finished. Think about that.
I can imagine people in restaurants in theatres taking photos of seats where he sat “Look at that imprint. The President’s ass was here just minutes ago.” :-)
All that and the constant barrage of parade of hatorade slung at him. Lord Bless Him!
Damn right I filled it out. For the key 25 word question (I was wordier but it went through! :) )
I would say that he is possibly the least credible person who writes political commentary on the internet. He’s deceptive about his views; pretends to be of the Left when he supported the Iraq War. More importantly he does zero research as is evident in him trying to make the Patriot Act of 2001/2006 news in 2013. The Guardian made a huge error in allowing this fraud to represent your paper.
This guy ->> https://twitter.com/jay_stamper is running against Lindsay Graham for Senator. However, he believes Snowden the guy who willfully stole US intelligence data and sold it to foreign entities is a hero.
I have to admit, other than stories specifically related to our President, this particular meltdown frenzy has me fascinated more than any other story in recent memory (thinking back to my outraged “yellowcake” days).
The media is in a tizzy. They don’t seem to *understand* the concept of emoprog. They label @ggreenwald, @mmhastings, @jeremyscahill, @chrislhayes etc., with the same broadstroke “liberal” label.
Why does the MSM understand Tea Party RWNJs but not emoprogs? If they’re on Twitter (which they are) how is that even possible?
They don’t understand TREASON when it reaches up and slaps them in the face.
They are incapable of seeing shoddy (actually non-existent) journalism when it comes to the loathsome @ggreenwald. But they’re willing to accept at face value RWNJ comparing Snowden to Rosa Parks and MLK?
The quartet of Gellman-Greenwald-Poitras-Snowden is so shady and unbelievable, yet DC echochamber accept what each of them say without question, despite inconsistencies from day one, continuing on through today.
Such complete journalistic incompetence on full display, just amazing.
I’m hoping that actual journalism will start to stir in those who are still able to think for themselves, those can step outside the DC echo chamber sometime soon.
Senators against treason:
RT @KateNocera Sen. Feinstein just told reporters that she won't call Snowden a whistleblower. "what he did was an act of treason"
— Mike Memoli (@mikememoli) June 10, 2025
Senate Intelligence ranking member Saxby Chambliss, asked if the leak was treason, said, 'If it’s not, it’s pretty damn close. “
Arapaho - Totally agree and thanks for the tweet postings. The tv media is mentally unarmed for anything that requires thought, nuance or research. You have the older ones (God help us Tweety qualifies there now) who make too much money and are lazy throwing out references from the past. As bad as they are at least most of it is factual. Unfortunately however most of the tv mediia is dominated by the ignorant young; the Chris Hayes type and other airheads who either made it big because they look good on tv or they are nerds with no sense of history.
For the past few years this media blight has really bothered me but frankly I RARELY turn the tv on anymore for politics so I only know about them from clips I see on the internet. I turned on MSNBC the other day to watch Joy Reid. I think she did a fine job but frankly I REALLY DON”T CARE about what Michael Steele or some hyped up guest has to say about ANY THING. So even that really didn’t make me feel like I was missing anything.
I am still interested in what different newspapers have to say (albeit online) as I consider it more serious reporting. And for that reason, I think WAPO and The Guardian and NYT have come up very short in their reporting on this. Corrections later - on front page stories - is not the way to be credible. We’ll see if any of them do proper reporting on this but I’m not holding my breath. Fortunately this is one story where I think the Twitter universe will drive the narrative. Politicians will be following that as much as anything.
“I think WAPO and The Guardian and NYT have come up very short in their reporting on this. Corrections later – on front page stories – is not the way to be credible. ”
Forus50, I think you are being overly generous to these papers. As far as I am concerned, all the three supposedly great papers disgraced journalism by opting to go with sensationalism.
Not sure who saw this on twitter, but Michigan is finally awakening from its coma. A PPP poll (is that redundant?) found that more people would vote for @LOLGOP than Justin Amash (Republican State Congressman and All Around Vile Person). I, for one, would in a heartbeat.
It’s the simple truth, Dudette. He is not from my district (I have my own problems) but somehow I started getting stuff from him online. He is a vile person-seriously libertarian-and very underhanded and I WOULD vote for Google Doodle rather than Amash every chance I got!

Way to go Bob! for me, favorite adjective about Glenn’s work was: “UNETHICAL.” And for Glenn’s personality my answer was: “HATER.” As for the question about “the news Glenn Broke” I answered: “USELESS!” Then the screen went blank.
Wherever he is, the Chinese made it clear early this morning that he made a very big mistake coming to HK and he checked out of his hotel early today as well. Unlikely he’s still in HK and the safest place for him would be in US custody.
am I the only one who is annoyed at the usage of the term whistleblower when it does not apply? This guy stole secrets from his country. He is nothing but a con artist and has no interest in any one but himself.
It’s so similar to Assange’s exploitation of the ****ed up Manning - Manning and Snowden, both hopelessly paranoid, now finished, their exploiters media celebs. It’s just so sickening.
Yes Indeed, Chipsticks! These holier than thou civil libertarians seem to be using impressionable young people who are not fully aware of the ramifications of their actions. Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian, WP, NYT, will probably not suffer any hardship from this newest manufactured scandal, whereas this poor guy, Snowden, who comes across as not being very bright, is likely to end up serving a long prison sentence. I also doubt that Congress is interested in repealing the Patriot Act.
A large majority of Americans say the federal government should focus on investigating possible terrorist threats even if personal privacy is compromised, and most support the blanket tracking of telephone records in an effort to uncover terrorist activity, according to a new Washington Post-Pew Research Center poll.
Can some one retweet this I am in twitter jail again. I want to give this nut a thing or 2. thanks
“RT ďż˝?@murdockstwisted Ur talking loud and saying nothing with no solutions going after terrorist”

Likely a hoax, df. Whomever is tweeting as @EJosephSnowden is still tweeting as recently as a few min ago. That, of course, could be a totally fake twitter account. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was Greenwald doing it ;)
It looks like some people are having fun! I refuse to take any of these reports seriously until I hear credible information from law enforcement people.
the incident you site is an extreme case… I am not saying that a 15yr old or younger could not have access….but my concern is that over the counter is just that over the counter…she would have access without parental or medical supervision…you can not purchase cigarettes unless you are 21….
Why should any woman be forced to carry a child to term? It’s her life. None of these people will live that life for her. It’s so easy to judge the lives of others. The decision has life-long consequences. Who else should decide that?
first…I did not say that a woman should be forced to carry a child….
and 2nd..a young girl is not a woman….there needs to be some supervision and guidance here from the parents or a medical professional…this PLAN B is not candy…
My concern if for the child, who is fully capable of being a mother - who does not have caring, understanding parents willing to explain the options. Too many force their daughters to carry the child, yet treat them badly because … abstinence. Those of us who have children willing to look to their parents for help, knowing they will get help - not abuse - are very lucky.
I am over 44 and I have to show ID to prove I am over 18 in order to get cold medicine/tylenol at the pharmacy/grocery store. Why would my underage child walk in and be able to get Plan B without the same? As a parent I have the right to be notified before my child gets something like this. What if the child is at home and has an allergic reaction? The parent is completely unaware of what is in the child’s system? Who is responsible?
I agree, for exactly the reasons you state In addition, a menstruating young woman may physically be mature enough, but to make this kind of decision requires an emotiona maturity. A 13 yr old just does not have.
Dee - one of my daughters started her period when she just entered 4th grade. She was 8 1/2 years old. No way in heck under any circumstances should she have been able to walk in and get Plan B without parental notification or consent..
I so hate the vocab of the pious a..holes who attack young women for no good cause. I cannot see a reason for the language and hatred - whether it was or was not rape.
Thanks, 99ts, for sharing the link. Glenn Greenwald is one of the most unethical people! He would do anything, regardless of ethics, to win. His current war is all about demonizing, undermining and destroying, President Obama. To accomplish his goal,Greewald has no shame using a naive young man, who is not well educated, to do his dirty deeds. I personally think that an investigation is absolutely order to find out why exactly why Mr. Greenwald was hanging out with Snowden before he was employed by an NSA contractor. Was it before Snowden got a $200,000 job with the NSA private contractor or was it after? If Greenwald’s relationship with Snoden was before Snowden’s employment we need to know what it is the two were working on.
Well said nath - one day the young man will realize the bad that was done to him - but his life will be in shatters. There are many people he could have chosen to speak with (if it was his original choice) and Greenwald would be close to the worst decision he will ever make in his life.
I’m not sure I even believe the details of his job - or was he really the person who gave information to gg - I’m having a large bout of paranoia - or else there is much to learn.
House Speaker John Boehner tells me NSA leaker Edward Snowden is "a traitor." Be sure to watch our full intvw tmrw morning on @GMA.
— GeorgeStephanopoulos (@GStephanopoulos) June 11, 2025
Watch the Republicans (who were deafeningly quiet over the past few days) come out of the woodwork to condemn Snowden - now that the polls are out showing that this new “scandal” is not going to hurt PBO, and most likely will backfire and hurt whoever is associated with the leaker & Greenwald…
Yup. Those who are truly uninformed on the Patriot Act (or choose to pretend it doesn’t exist) will be the only ones defending these two clowns/criminals. The majority of the GOP and Dems see no political gain from upsetting the apple cart over this faux scandal. POTUS has higher priorities on climate change, immigration and winning back the House to focus on. He doesn’t have the time right now to fix the Patriot Act; another one of GW Bush’s fuck ups.
Pro-Beijing lawmakers approved legislation here today giving broad authority to the police to conduct covert surveillance, including wiretapping phones, bugging homes and offices and monitoring e-mail.
The bill passed the 60-member Legislative Council on a vote of 32 to 0 soon after pro-democracy lawmakers walked out of the chamber in protest early this morning. The Democratic Party and its allies had tried to introduce nearly 200 amendments to the bill through four days of marathon debates, but all were defeated or ruled out of order.
Ambrose S.K. Lee, the secretary for security, welcomed the legislation, saying it was necessary to fight crime. “I wish to assure the residents of Hong Kong that the law now is a good balance between effective law enforcement on the one hand and the protection of privacy on the other,? he said.
Saw on twitter that PBO will host a screening of The Presidents’ Gatekeepers at the WH tomorrow—-4 hr. doc. with interviews of all 19 living chiefs of staff. Haha—-filmmaker said Rahmbo the most difficult interview—-why am I not surprised? Can tell a good story tho, filmmaker said.
Chips you are fast and furious!
They are on a roll tonight.
Congrats Mary1.
Truly Fast & Furious….I was commenting and there, a new post. Wow :)
Thanks :)
I just can’t parse this. It’s so freakin’ weird and GROSS, like a fanboy magazine.
I am speechless Meta - almost!! I cannot believe this!
I guess they think they found themselves a goldmine. But soon they will regret the day they elevated him.
They will, and this mortifyingly embarrassing ‘survey’ has just put their reputation down the toilet. I still can’t believe it.
This is really bizarre. It’s like they think Glenn Greenwald is the second coming and are trying to smoke out his cult following.
I answered the survey but the Guardian didn’t acknowledge my response.
Sorry Meta, my comment was for Chips.
If you hyphenate that you could use it. I was going for malignant-narcissist myself.
“egomaniac” was one of the words I used in the survey….

Yes, it is important to respond to that fanboy survey and make it clear to The Guardian they have enabled espionage & treason against the American People.

Your responses were much kinder than mine. ;)
RWers’ heads explode in 3…2..1…
The survey was fun.
This is wayyyy fun! 2 threads at the same time!
oh lordy! what his work means to me? your send-up is hilarious, chips.
It’s like a 5th grade essay contest!
Is this real? Celestial and dreamy and magic and gaggedy gag gag gag? Yikes! Someone is IN LOVE. Bye bye Acrobat Girl.
Dotster, are you implying that Glenn and Edward might be an item? Calling Dr. Marcus Bachmann for an intervention.
Greenwald seems to have a penchant for men who are 20+ years his junior….Dotster might be on to something here.
Maybe Marcus could get together with the discarded Rio boyfriend—-Mr. B. might be looking to escape his dreadful future with Wife Crazy Eyes and Nutty Head proposing to be around 24/7 and …….
If Glenn and Edward are “an item” Glenn’s honey in Brazil must be heartbroken!

Well done.
Notice I didn’t even call him a blogger but “who writes political commentary on the internet” lol. I should have said “in crayon”.
Great comment Forus! I think by the time I filled out my response the Guardian was fed up with TOD responders as they never acknowledged my response.

Have I been punked AGAIN? ARGH!
Is this for real?
No, I think it was a FAKE. Sorry.
Hmmm…
Only 5 tweets and all radio/tv stations west of Mississippi start with “K” instead of “W,” so yeah, I think so.
:( :( :( :( :(
Well, you knew the Chinese wanted that piece of trash off their soil, immediately.
He must be either in hiding or in transit somewhere else……
Wherever he is, the Chinese made it clear early this morning that he made a very big mistake coming to HK and he checked out of his hotel early today as well. Unlikely he’s still in HK and the safest place for him would be in US custody.
Maybe he’s gone to join Assange?
:D :D :D :D :D
I thought he was going to Iceland?
Another tweet from WABR said he was arrested on a boat off of Oahu and was heading towards Equador.
nothing on hawaii local news sites yet.
Twitter account from “news station” with 6 tweets — all from today! C’mon!
am I the only one who is annoyed at the usage of the term whistleblower when it does not apply? This guy stole secrets from his country. He is nothing but a con artist and has no interest in any one but himself.
It’s fake. There is no WABR in Hawaii (Google it). There is however, a WABR radio station in a little town called Tifton GA.
———————-
But I agree. He’s not a whistleblower. He’s a traitor.
Okay, does everybody get it NOW?

grrrrrrrrrrrr
I think lots of people are having fun with this poor misguided guy who, in my opinion, is being used by the hater of President Obama, Glenn Greenwald.
GREAT toon!!! http://bobcesca.thedailybanter.com/blog-archives/2013/06/the-chase.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-chase

Most Americans back NSA tracking phone records, prioritize probes over privacy

A large majority of Americans say the federal government should focus on investigating possible terrorist threats even if personal privacy is compromised, and most support the blanket tracking of telephone records in an effort to uncover terrorist activity, according to a new Washington Post-Pew Research Center poll.
Can some one retweet this I am in twitter jail again. I want to give this nut a thing or 2. thanks

Snowden and several others were arrested on a boat off the coast of Oahu headed toward the coast of Ecuador.
Is this for real?
No. It’s probably a 15 year old boy who is smoking pot.
Likely a hoax, df. Whomever is tweeting as @EJosephSnowden is still tweeting as recently as a few min ago. That, of course, could be a totally fake twitter account. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was Greenwald doing it ;)
I think this is a fake account.
I see now that we’ve determined this to be a joke. Thought this was odd…to say the least
WABR is owned by Georgia Publc Radio. It is unlikely they would have such a scoop.
lot of ocean between oahu and ecuador…
Sure is! :)
row, row, row your boat……
There sure is.
Bingo!
nope. fake account. Only 6 tweets.
Couple more recent tweets make it more obvious

It looks like some people are having fun! I refuse to take any of these reports seriously until I hear credible information from law enforcement people.
GE Chips, TOD…….
I’m sorry…but for those that are opposed to Plan B for younger girls….please consider
http://thinkprogress.org/health/2013/06/10/2113781/another-town-shames-rape-victim/
a woman’s right to choose and a woman’s right to privacy belong to any girl whose body is functioning as a woman’s.
Absolutely!
15 year old or younger is not a woman….
the incident you site is an extreme case… I am not saying that a 15yr old or younger could not have access….but my concern is that over the counter is just that over the counter…she would have access without parental or medical supervision…you can not purchase cigarettes unless you are 21….
this is screwy
This is just a bad bad idea.

“Glenn Greenwald Unethically Taped Witnesses While Working for Matt Hale, White Supremacist.”
Wow, this dude is quite the piece of work, isn’t he?
He defines scum, Dudette, and always has.
Seems to be Dudette - I will never understand the US Press - when media idiots say jump - the rest of ‘em say how high
They just HAVE to believe they have a purpose in life - when most of them are outdated, outmoded and should go live in Hong Kong
No thank you George, I rather have breakfast with a skunk.
THIS is where he went to be “safe” from an “intrusive” govt. Hong Kong Surveillance Law Passes
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/06/world/asia/06cnd-hong.html?_r=0
“I wish to assure the residents of Hong Kong that the law now is a good balance between effective law enforcement on the one hand and the protection of privacy on the other,? he said.
Yeah. Ok.
