That piss-ant douche Chris Hayes is talking non-stop NSA and the true violation of civil rights is going to happen tomorrow … yet no mention. They’re quick to invoke the civil rights leaders of the 60s who fought for voting rights and yet, when the chips are down, they don’t seem to care.

Fuck him. I’m glad his show is tanking. Can’t wait until MSNBC pulls him because no one watches.

We watched Rev. Al’s interview with Myrlie Evers-Williams. What a wonderful woman. She has been through the fire. She described the night of her husband’s assassination, how her husband had discussed the safest place in the house for the children….chilling stuff. This should be watched by all the people who think GG and Snowden are equivalent…..
    A riveting interview, every word.

Thank you, Chips. I’m boycotting MSNBC (I know they miss me already!), so I’ll have to watch Rev. Al here!

      • June 12, 2013 at 9:37 pm

This is my new rule Jacqueline: I’ll watch 100% of Rev Al, 75% of Lawrence and 50% of Rachel. And 0% of the rest!

You are so open minded, Chipsticks! For me (must be my age and my BP) I can’t take any of them. Even the good hosts, like Lawrence and the Rev., tend to book imbeciles. I am so grateful to your blog because I get to watch the good segments you select from these shows to post here.

          • June 12, 2013 at 10:13 pm

Ha, nathkatun, I’d say my mind is only, oh, 20% open! They all drive me nuts at times – Rachel Maddow has prompted me to throw several sharp objects at my TV screen more than once, but when she’s good, and steps away from her Greenwaldishness, I honestly think she can be brilliant. Lawrence the same, some of his Rewrites in particular in the last year have been incredibly powerful. I tend not to watch them live any more, for fear they’ll make my head explode, but if I hear they did good stuff I check it the next morning. That’s my guide to staying sane!

Well, I do miss Rev. Al and Lawrence, on weekdays, so …. I’ll probably swing back in a while. Just trying to prove to myself I can do it!

Had to go see for myself and what I was told is true.

Chris Hayes is flogging some book he wrote on Dkos with a Maddow endorsement as well. Probably part of the reason he is harping on about NSA to the CL groupies. Principles, belief ? Sure once it sells.

He becomes more detestable every day.

‘Literature’ isn’t what it used to be. So many of these media and political people cobble something together or get a ghost writer to do it for them and get it published and hyped, using their name recognition. In the twinkling of an eye they start being referred to as ‘author’ ‘on the New York best sellers list’ yada yada and they haven’t SAID anything worthwhile. Everything is such a farce these days! I didn’t really realize how the NY Best Sellers list could be manipulated until the Alaska Barbie entered the literary spotlight.

Well…..this is one Stanley Cup finals I’m interested in my two favorite teams, the Blackhawks and the Bruins. Lived in both cities, and cannot choose. Loved the opening in Chicago, with that great organ accompanying the great singer of The Star Spangled Banner. Truly moving and exciting. More important than Chris Hayes and Snowden in our world.

In fact, does anyone else feel that this entire Snowden/GG thing is descending into farce? What they wanted to be so serious, is going to be farcical because of the way they’ve handled it and are handling it. Escaping to Hong Kong and skyping from a hotel room? If he had any courage he would have taken his FOUR…..now that’s the word…..and gone to Congress and faced the people who made this law. And Chris Hayes is enabling the farce.

Yup this is going to be fun!!!. I hope it goes 7 games. We have a number of Mass offices at our company and the guy in the office next to me works half the week in Chicago and lives in Boston.

I’m thinking the CIA knows where the Poser is and if they aren’t arresting him it’s because they know he doesn’t have anything of real value. The Guardian and WAPO are going to take a big credibility hit over this. NYT still hasn’t recovered from the Judith Miller b.s. Not that people will stop reading them but they will be much more skeptical the next time they have a similar breaking story.

Have you been listening to Randi Rhoads Bobfr? She’s been talking about that all week. Her show today was such a good education. She took us through the history of the privatization of our National Security, the revolving door of folks in the presidential administration and back into private industry. How much Bush increased programs in national security so much they had to farm it out to private industries. The number of companies that are now into national security made my stomach ache. We need to turn this around while the GOP and the DEMs are both for it before they decide if Obama wants it we don’t.

      • 59 Bobfr (aka Our4thEstate)
        June 12, 2013 at 10:48 pm

jojo, sadly, I have no time to listen to Randi, or for that matter, anyone, given the enormous demands on my time given what my team is building. Can not tell you how delighted I am that she is bringing such detailed analysis to the attention of her listeners. America would be much safer and much better educated if she had an hour or two on broadcast TV/cable 7 days a week.

I have no doubt President Obama realizes the peril of the privatization of our National Security driven by the greed of the plutocrats who are the Military Industrial Complex (MIC) that President Eisenhower warned America to control.

Also, have no doubt that President Obama knew, when he delivered his lecture at the National Defense University a few weeks ago, that the profiteering NEOCONSTERS would freak.

        They have.

President Obama told attendees at a Miami fundraiser Wednesday that he needs help to implement his second term agenda.

“I can’t do it by myself. I’ve got to have partners,” he said, noting that in some cases, Republicans are willing to work with him, such as on immigration reform.

But, he added, “all too often, we’re not getting cooperation from the other side.”

“It’d be a lot easier if I had a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate,” he said, according to a pool report. “We’ve got a lot more work to do. It’s going to be absolutely critical that everybody here feels the same urgency .. over the next year and a half.”

The event, which benefitted the Democratic National Committee, was held at the home of Lumber Liquidators founder Tim Sullivan. Obama was slated to attend one more DNC fundraiser at the Miami home of businessman Joseph W. Blount before returning to D.C. late Wednesday.

A newlywed couple moves into their new house. One day the husband comes home from work and his wife says, “Honey, you know, in the upstairs bathroom one of the pipes is leaking, could you fix it?” The husband says, “What do I look like, Mr. Plumber?” A few days go by, and he comes home from work and his wife says, “Honey, the car won’t start. I think it needs a new battery. Could you change it for me?” He says: “What do I look like, Mr. Goodwrench?” Another few days go by, and it’s raining pretty hard. The wife finds a leak in the roof. She says, “Honey, there’s a leak on the roof! Can you please fix it?” He says, “What do I look like, Bob Vila?” The next day the husband comes home, and the roof is fixed. So is the plumbing. So is the car. He asks his wife what happened. “Oh, I had a handyman come in and fix them,” she says. “Great! How much is that going to cost me?” he snarls. Wife says: “Nothing. He said he’d do it for free if I either baked him a cake or slept with him.” “Uh, well, what kind of cake did you make?” asks the husband. “What do I look like,” she says, “Betty Crocker?”

Lawrence was on fire last night. His segment on “50 Years Ago Today” should required viewing for all Americans and students.

He begain his piece with JFK’s Friday (June 11) speech in response to sending in a NATIONALIZED Alabama National Guard against George Wallace illegal racism (with a guest appearance of a reference to Vietnam), to Medgar Evers murder just after midnight that night, concluding with the degregation of Boston schools. For some inexplicable reason, #inners is the number one Twitter hashtag at the moment.

Alex Wagner and Chris Hayes mades fools of themselves on @Lawrence last night. Except for the part where Hayes talks louder and faster when he’s in trouble, really delicious to watch. He really is a horrible guest, no self-awareness at all.

Lawrence’s entire segment was worth watching. He talked about how Snowden moved from NC to Crofton MD at 9 years sold and speculated whether a dropout from any other High School other than the one he attended (apparently within walking distance of the NSC facility in town) would have gotten a top secret security clearance after washing out of the Army.

Skip to the 13 minute mark for Alex and Chris getting schooled by @Lawrence:

Thank you so much, Chipsticks for dedicating today to honor Medgar Evers, one of the most courageous leaders in my life time. As I commented yesterday, I am in awe of Myrlie Evers. Her Courage, her truthfulness, her dedication to justice, equality and humanity, and, above all, her grace. She is such an inspiration to me. I was 17 when Medgar was assassinated, three months after that 4 little girls were murdered in Birmingham, Alabama. Five months after Medgar was assassinated, JFK was assassinated. A year and half after the murder of Medgar, Malcolm X. was assassinated. Almost 5 years after Medgar’s murder, Dr. King and RFK were assassinated. There were other murders of Civil Rights Workers between 1963 and 1968. It’s important to emphasize that so many of the rights that some of us have benefitted from, and take for granted, came at a very high price. And as Mrs/ Evers-Wlliams clearly pointed out, there is still so much to do to ensure that the rights we gained, such as the right to vote, are not taken away.

    • June 12, 2013 at 9:58 pm

A complete pleasure Nathkatun, thank you. I mentioned earlier that it’s all been an education for me, there was so much I didn’t know about Medgar and Myrlie’s lives, so while painful to watch those videos, it was so important to do it.

Chips, you’ve done a fabulous job, all day long, in both of your posts. Yes, it’s painful to watch those videos, but sometimes pain is necessary to understand and appreciate reality. When some of us oldies cried when President Obama was elected we were crying not only tears of joy, but also tears of remembrances about all those who sacrificed so much, for so long, to lay the foundation. I am a strong believer that without the sacrifices of Rosa Parks, Medgar Evers, Dr. King, JFK, RFK, and countless others , both black and white, this country would never have elected President this brilliant man, Barak Obama. Try as they may, the haters will never erase this historic achievement. And, try as they may, the haters will never erase the record of President Obama’s achievements. To do that, they have to completely wipe out TOD archives as well as the archives of other pragmatic blogs.

Thanks, Chipsticks for this tweet, which is focused on reality and not on abstraction. With all their hair on fire, and their outrages (some of it faked) about NSA, I’ve yet to read, or view on t.v, any concrete example of how this program harmed innocent Americans. I repeat, neither Snowden, nor Greenwald, nor the 24-7 MSM cable news, have pointed to one concrete example to show how innocent Americans were harmed by this NSA program.

On the other hand, Sandy Hook was real! 20 innocent children and 6 of their teachers lost their lives. Congress had an obligation to address this specific crime to avert future crimes about gun violence, but it failed miserably. Yet all these people, and especially the media, who are outraged about this abstract loss of privacy, show no similar outrage about Congress’ failure to make sure that what happened at Sandy Hook School would not happen again in any other school in America. What happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School was real! All this NSA stuff is all about abstract potential for abuse. So, you want to talk about scandal? The scandal is Congress’ failure to deal with unchecked gun violence that is taking the lives of so many innocent people, and especially precious children. The scandal is not about a program aimed at protecting the lives of Americans that may supposedly be abused in the future though there is no shred of evidence that it’s presently being abused.

I refuse to be outraged about the NSA program aimed at protecting Americans from terrorism because I’ve seen zero evidence that it has harmed innocent Americans. I repeat there is absolutely ZERO evidence that the NSA violated the rights of innocent Americans, or for that matter, innocent foreigners. If this means that I will be labeled a fascist, Nazi, Obamabot cultist, so be it!

Although not succeeding on a federal level, I was really heartened by this article today: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-thomasleftwich-newtown-gun-control-20130614,0,6511944.story If the states start to push it, it will make it that much easier for the federal people to support it, I think.

I’ve noticed that the level of intensity and narrow focus are approaching ‘critical mass’. Hell, even the naughty mats are mildewed.

Two little boys are going to the hospital the next day for operations.

Theirs will be first on the schedule.

The older boy leans over and asks,

    “What are you having done?”

The second boy says, “I’m getting my tonsils out, and I’m afraid.”

The first boy says, “You’ve got nothing to worry about.

I had that done when I was four.

They put you to sleep, and when you wake up, they give you lots of Jell-O and ice cream.

    It’s a breeze.”

The second boy then asks, “What are you going in for?”

    The first boy says, “Circumcision.”

    “Whoa!” the smaller boy replies.

“Good luck, buddy. I had that done when I was born.

    Couldn’t walk for a year.”

I’m back:) Did you miss me (HAHAHA) Had to take a time out an go bring an injured bird that was in my backyard to the Wildlife Rehab down the street. Poor little thing. He’ll be alright. Dehyrated and clogged up with something…while I was there another family came in with a small female kestral that was in their yard. Beautiful bird. She’ll be alright, too:) Time for a drink.

Watching LOD…Lawrenced asked the question I was in the process of typing…why would Snowden, having had a crisis of conscience while working with for CIA, take an intelligence job with the NSA unless he went in with the intent to do what he did?

So I wanted to check and see who owns The Carlyle Group and found this on their website:

Carlyle is a publicly traded partnership, which began trading on the NASDAQ market under the CG ticker symbol on May 3, 2012. Carlyle has three groups of owners: employees of Carlyle who are equity partners, strategic investors Mubadala Development Company and CalPERS, and public unitholders.

Then I checked on Mubadala Dev. Co and found this: That they are a wholly owned investment vehicle for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and that their SOLE SHAREHOLDER is the Gov of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. And that the word “mubadala” means exchange….

Trying to connect some dots here…and it doesn’t look great from here.
