Stern: Artist Yadegar Asisi was pleased with the visit of the President’s family to see his panorama at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin.
“That was quite an honor,” said Asisi whose artwork conveys an impression of the wall.
While the elder daughter Malia had asked many questions, Sasha had long been quiet and thoughtful. “Then she said: ‘It is very sad’ – from the heart.”

New klingon language?
You understood the sentiments though. My take is the English language is filled with words people said often and forceful enough till everyone else adapted. So I am just carrying on the touch. Though I think that word is real…?
“Consarnit” is, for us old enough to remember, a phrase regularly used in the 60s’ on TV when a colorful yet empathetic character would want to say, (or wouldn’t be allowed to say because of the times), the phrase “G– d— it!”
Just color me ancient, and put me in the corner. I turn another year older on Sunday!
Well familiar. Walter Brennan used it a lot. And yes, also telling my age. Which most people already uderstood to be ancient. And I turn to ancient plus 1 tomorrow. Chips better start baking for all the BD TODvillians now.
Oooooooh Japa, I’m getting my pots and pans out as we speak!
‘Scuse me AJ??
AJ’s is Sunday, as mentioned above.
Aaaaaah, sorry AJ, I have a terrible habit of reading comments too quickly and missing the important bits. Double-baking it is!
Walter Brennan. Him and Gabby Hayes created the ornery cuss.
Happy early birthday, japa!
Congrats Allison on #1
Soooooooo close, morning Cman!
I was celebrating and then I look up and realize how short I was. 1 whole minute! lol. You have not seen the last of me Allison. I will get you and your little dog too.
“I will get you and your little dog too.”
Look out, Allison!
What you got against little dogs? I’ve got three and no one better come get them. (One looks suspiciously like Toto).
Ha, say hello to Toto for me, 57!! I have to say, that’s the first threat ever posted here against someone’s dog!!!
Allison’s lil’ dog
Oh my gaaaaaaaaaaaawd, funniest thing EVER!!!!!
LMAO. That’s HIM!

Love you madly Chips. You make my life better.
Ah Ladyhawke, love ya right back!!!!
Mine, too, Chips!
This is a very powerful image, Chips. It’s interesting that the girls were so thoughtful and engaged during this visit, yet ABC’s GMA shamefully put out a disgusting drivel-filled article on how “bored” they were comparing them with the Griswold kids on National Lampoon’s Vacation.
Awww Sasha is such a little sweetie. Little sisters unite! I totally relate to being the younger sister and being quiet and just taking it all in. She’s lucky though that she has such an affectionate family and they place a heavy emphasis on both girls equally.
It show me that Barack and Michelle Obama is doing a great job raising these girls. Along with Grandma’s help. During this trip they were on the center stage and yes people talked about their fashion, but I listen to the people talk about how the girls behave, and what they seem to be like, and not a bad word about them. They didn’t come across as some spoil, stuck up little rich girls, who thought they were better than everyone else, who Daddy is the President of the United States. That’ s thanks to their parents.
I’m sure there were times when the girls were bored. They’re KIDS. But they’ve been raised to be respectful and polite. Surviving boredom is great preparation for life. (As my mother said to me and as I can imagine FLOTUS saying to them.) You don’t get through life without being bored sometimes.
Pass it on to GMA, a 12 and 14 year old bored.

High court strikes down anti-prostitution pledge

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court has struck down a federal law forcing private health organizations to denounce prostitution as a condition to get AIDS funding.
The justices said Thursday the law’s anti-prostitution pledge improperly restricts First Amendment rights.
Four organizations that work in Africa, Asia and South America challenged the 2003 law. They say their work has nothing to do with prostitution.
The Obama administration argued it is reasonable for the government to give money only to groups that oppose prostitution and sex trafficking because they contribute to the spread of HIV/AIDS. The high court’s vote was 6-2.

If you are over 45 yrs. old, you SHOULD take this Alzheimer’s Test.
How fast can you guess these words and fill-in the blanks?
1. _ _NDOM
2. F_ _K
You got all 6 wrong….didn’t you? — You do NOT have Alzheimer’s.
But you are a Pervert.

Hahahahahaha. I got all six wrong. I guessed dirty words.
Get on the Pervert bus with the rest of us.
I have NO clue what you’re talking about, Shipmate, without even looking at the answers these were mine:
Join the rest of us on the bus.
Oh, okay then!
That’s my jenny !!!
Um, hello Jenny.
She knows she did wrong.
Aaaaaaaaaaaw, is that your Jenny??
Yup, the sofa/bed usurper. A spoiled brat.
What a dote!!!
Heh, no need for name-calling.
I remember I called Dotster that once and she thought I was calling her a dolt – had to QUICKLY explain it’s a nice word!
Dog porn, oh my. See what your dog do when you’re not home.
Lock up your laptops!!
What do you think Bo did during the trip?
I always wonder what Mrs. Robinson does too. She like a low profile.
I got mostly the same answers as you without looking, except..
6. BOOMS & BOOTS
though I confess as soon as I read the instructions I deliberately tried for sane responses.
LOL….I am under 45, but I got them all wrong.
We welcome perverts of all ages! lol
You can join the other perverts on the bus.
Look what you’ve done Yardarm, you’ve brought the disgraceful out in everyone.
Bunch of pothead perverts!!!
My thoughts too Layla, Yardarm has helped expose their trashy minds. Disappointing.
Who me? You must be talkin’ about that guy behind me. It’s not my fault this site is so populated with er, ah folks with questionable thought processes.
Yeah, talking about YOU. I don’t personally blame you for the folk here being rude, but I DO blame you for bringing their rudeness to the surface. Shameful.
Are we gonna get some lectures ?
Preparing my lecture on low morals now
Oh, we knew THAT.
Love that, Chips!
On both counts, I KNOW THAT.
This is too funny!
Some folks ain’t laughing but leering and wringing their hands.
GM TODers I got number six correctly. My mind was all going one way and then, Bam wham, I lost my Perv mind? So humiliating. That is just sad
I laughed so hard.
Last Post or two, congrats for your Gold.
It is now official; I am a pervert (and a damn satisfied one at that)!
Welcome to the bus.
GM yardarm756, I know my TOD family will be okay to hear this, but I made the bus also. Am I still in the family?
Thank you for the beauty of laughter. This conversation lifted my spirit. I needed some gut laughter. I love this place so much!!!!
Love you my Chips.(((((((( You are the Bestest))))))))) HZ
“Hijack” is the right word for the allout effort to divert the nation’s attention away from the current President of the US and towards the out-of-office, not too mention out-of-their-minds, Clintons.
Have they learned nothing?
John Lewis was an early “supporter” of Hillary, remember? If you do remember, think how quickly that support evaporated when a superior candidate emerged.
So it will be this time. If the Obama Coalition finds a candidate it prefers it will make life very difficult for the aging, classless duo.
what I find uber-annoying is the mindset that Hillary is a shoe-in and dare anyone to question that she would be a superior President to PBO. The hubris is disgusting.
Do these supporters know anything about the Clinton presidency? Do they have any information whatsoever (other than a pro woman’s rights speech from decades ago) that Hillary wouldn’t have done even more surveillance, used more drones or even worse – gotten us into more conflicts and wars because she’d have to prove she didn’t need a p_n_s to be tough?
You don’t like PBO’s trade policy? Wait until Hillary gets her hands on it. You don’t like privatization? Clinton and Gore put it on steroids.
How is Hillary going to fix the economic mess when it was her husband’s collusion with Phil Gramm that led to this disaster?
I want to be glad to support our next Presidential candidate. I don’t want to feel this way. I will, of course, vote for Hillary if I have to but I’d like to do so willingly. This thinly veiled orchestration of a drumbeat for Hillary that gets its fuel from anti-Obama rhetoric, is making it very hard for me to even think she remotely deserves the job.
Well said 57.
The Clinton backers never acknowledge she would not have anywhere near her current popularity without PBO appointing her SOS.
A job where I’ve yet to see where she was in any way distinguished.
I expect to hear rumblings that she would have been Great, just GREAT I tell you, if that nasty, woman-hating PBO hadn’t reined her in.
My head will explode, even though I fully expect it to happen.
They tried this inevitable stuff before. How’d that turn out? I won’t judge decisions she may or may not make in the future on what her husband did decades before. That’s not even in the ballpark.
I want her questioned about the Gramm bill. I want her opinion on the Telecom Bill and NAFTA (she did get questioned on that in 2008, at least). I want to know what kind of President she will be.
She’s already made it clear she’s more of a hawk than a careful thinker about foreign policy. I want to know what she thinks of privatization. I want her scrutinized at least half as much as PBO has had to endure.
Agreed. Question her. What’s going to be her policy towards China or her position on the trade deficit or immigration? How does she feel about Taft-Hartley? No matter the topic let’s give her a thorough going over so we can know where she stands. But I’m doing that for any candidate running for President. Nobody can or should get a free pass. But hold her responsible for the decisions her husband made when he was President and then use that to determine what she’s going to do in an election three and a half years from now? No thanks.
EVERY candidate. Absolutely, derbingle. But I’m afraid as long as she’s the Democratic anti-Obama candidate she will get precious little scrutiny from anyone. And I have mixed feelings about a contentious primary season, but I’d love to see her stand up to that scrutiny. I’m already exhausted.
Can I join you on the beach? I am sick of hearing about 2016. If someone emerges strong against her in the primaries (if she even runs) then I have no problem with that candidate taking it too her. I don’t care what the media pretends this is not her coronation. I said before I like the Clintons but I would love lightning to strike twice and somebody else to once and for all end all hopes of their return to the White House.
I’m totally with you.
Except one thing. She’s running. The shit we’re hearing lately is orchestrated very carefully by the Clintons, even her staying above the fray while the message is getting out from the minions, and Bill.
I would hope decency would trump her ego and ambition – we’ve had enough dynasties, thank you. As a woman a few years younger than Hillary, this shit it hard at our age. But I don’t expect that kind of decency. I fully expect her to run. The signals are there.
Your last sentence says it for me, 57F. I like your wording. Personally, I don’t think Hillary deserves the job at all, and their orchestration in 2013 really irritates.
I feel you,57female…I didn’t like nor support Hillary in 2008 (I am an Obama supporter since 2004!) and if folk on the left continue this madness, I am afraid I might not be able to hold my nose and vote for her in 2016.
Before the primaries, I had actually accepted Hillary’s inevitability, although it rankled me at the time. Enough dynasties, and why did she feel entitled anyway? I’m from Chicago. I have always liked Obama, but I figured he had time.
Then Hillary, so nakedly shocked that she lost the first primary, turned on him with the racist, insulting bullshit. I was shocked – Democrats simply didn’t treat each other that way in national politics. I remember her sneering speech about him right after the IA loss, and the crocodile tears that won her NH. Within a few days, I was 110% onboard with PBO and fighting the Clintons.
I never understood what made her qualified to be President anyway, except her sense of entitlement. The one thing Repubs were right about: the Clintons really are low rent sleaze balls. I think we’re stuck with her though. I’ll vote for her – we have to defeat these RWNJ’s. But I don’t think she’ll be a great President. She’s not a great person in any way.
Although, I knew I was for Obama from the get-go, the “sense of entitlement” and “racist, insulting bullshit” pissed me of to the nth degree, but that day she referenced Bobby Kennedy’s assignation and then gave one of those “if I offended anyone” apology, I was completely done and have been ever since.
…that’s assassination, not assignation….ooops
Is Obama an American citizen? “As far as I know.”
That is a small, petty, vindictive mind. I don’t need that under a Democratic veneer. the notion that Hillary would have sent the banksters to jail is laughable on its face or done anything else remotely progressive. But I’ll still vote for her if I have to. Frankly, let her supporters drum up votes the way PBO had to.
Oh, and in case anyone has forgotten, next to the black guy there is no one hated more by the RWNJ’s than the Clintons. Do we really want to see a parade of every woman Bill Clinton has shaken hands with, as a scandal?

Knowledge, always a good thing..
Hi, MP! I miss you, but will gladly take a back seat so that you spend every minute with your lovely daughter.
Enjoy yourself and treasure your time together.
But I’m still watching you, girlfriend. You better not be overdoing it.
Ari Melber, I think he is another Chris Hayes wanna be. I have listen to him a couple of times about their hero Snowden and I have decided to stop listening to his crap. Alex Wagner too.
I can’t even deal with him. He has a convoluted way of trying to always blame PBO. No thanks.
I enjoy it when Joy Ann Reid puts him in his place…he thinks he’s so smart (not).
Okay, I’ve seen it all now: Fluffy Cows
I love “fluffy cows” as opposed to the non fluffy ones!
Elementary school named after Miche!!!!! Did y’all know this?!?!!!

Now Well, this hour, Rubio is supporting this version. Stay tuned until Rush speaks and Lil Rubio would be saying something different?

I wonder what the rest of his body looks like. I have only seen this head shot.
Doughboy. Big round belly, skinny hands and feet.
I wonder if Knoller thought ‘healthy lunch’ was some kind of dirty phrase.
Didn’t take them long to remove it, whatever it was.

In a report Thursday on NPR about how Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) father shaped his vision on immigration, his father, Rafael Bienvenido Cruz, an immigrant from Cuba, said that while he “came to this country legally,” he basically bribed an official to get to the United States.
Now how would Cruz suggest his father be punished? Hmm?
Now how would Cruz suggest his father be punished? Hmm? Well a State dinner of course!
Layla, Maybe ship back to where ever he came from and take his racists freaking son with him.
As a white Jewish girl, I make this statement humbly: Cuban Americans do not get to speak for the Latino immigrant experience. They have had special exceptions for the last half century.
Another example of GOP inclusiveness, eh! huff.to/11OQ4a8— Nelson (@Yardarm756DD) June 20, 2013
- 87% of Americans don’t agree on much, but they support the pathway to citizenship — got me thinking about the larger dynamic of Congress ignoring public opinion.
During the fight over reducing gun violence, more than 90% of Americans supported expanding background checks on firearm purchases, and wanted Congress to support a bipartisan plan to do just that. Republicans killed it anyway.
During the budget fight, most Americans supported a balanced deficit-reduction plan that included tax increases on the wealthy, but Republicans didn’t care. When President Obama unveiled the American Jobs Act, most Americans backed its provisions, but Republicans didn’t care. Americans like the idea of the Buffett Rule, ending tax subsidies to oil companies, and leaving Medicare intact, but for congressional Republicans, it just doesn’t much matter.
As for why Republicans ignore the polls with impunity, there are competing schools of thought, but I’m inclined to believe it has a lot to do with the way in which the literal electoral lines are drawn — GOP lawmakers are confident that attitudes in their red states and districts don’t reflect national trends, so they couldn’t care less what Americans in generally believe, so long as the folks who turn out for them on Election Day think the way they do.
