The First Family arrive in Dakar, Senegal
See the schedule in the post below
Dalal ak Jamm! So happy!
Kreen, you are FIRST!
Yes Judith! Te one person from Senegal is first!lollll
That’s awesome Kreen. Congrats on first.
Gm from my world
GE from mine!
LOL Jacqueline – I saw “leave a comment” – but Kreen was there first – then I had to drive the man to work – so just now saw your reply. What a day you folks have had. We just had the PM upended – which was sad, but the idiot who replaced her won’t be around for long – maybe long enough for the party to realize why they got rid of him in the first place!
Upheaval and changes, everywhere – some to the good!
hey! Thanks, Ed. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/al-qaida-said-to-be-changing-its-ways-after-leaks.php
U.S. intelligence agencies are scrambling to salvage their surveillance of al-Qaida and other terrorists who are working frantically to change how they communicate after a National Security Agency contractor leaked details of two NSA spying programs. It’s an electronic game of cat-and-mouse that could have deadly consequences if a plot is missed or a terrorist operative manages to drop out of sight.
Two U.S. intelligence officials say members of virtually every terrorist group, including core al-Qaida members, are attempting to change how they communicate, based on what they are reading in the media, to hide from U.S. surveillance. It is the first time intelligence officials have described which groups are reacting to the leaks.

Under Article III, Section 3, of the Constitution, any person who levies war against the United States or adheres to its enemies by giving them Aid and Comfort has committed treason within the meaning of the Constitution. The term aid and comfort refers to any act that manifests a betrayal of allegiance to the United States, such as furnishing enemies with arms, troops, transportation, shelter, or classified information. If a subversive act has any tendency to weaken the power of the United States to attack or resist its enemies, aid and comfort has been given
During his illegal war Bush used to say that Liberals complaining about the were providing “aid and comfort to the enemies”
“If a subversive act has any tendency to weaken the power of the United States to attack or resist its enemies … ”
Zero question that Snowden meets that definition ….
Thank you ewok

“The first was my 2002-04 participation in a multi-member LLC that had an interest in numerous businesses, including the distribution of adult videos.”
What a moron. No other words to waste on him.
We shouldn’t laugh, UT – but —->
okay I’ve never been anywhere in Africa.. looking forward to this trip. Our First Family all looking sparkly and bright :)
I have not posted here in a long time (although I look as often as I can!), but OMG! Is Sasha not channeling the FLOTUS or what?!?! I really had to do a double take! I cannot believe how tall she has gotten. I really hope that in 10 years or so Malia and Sasha will write a book about their time in the White House. Can I pre order now? *smile*
Thanks for the Post and saying Senegal.
Africa is a Continent with at least 53 nations. Most In Europe use the names of African Nations…..unfortunately, here in US, we are always saying Africa. The re-Education of USA is well overdue.
It was reported during the 2008 campaign Vice Presidential candidate Palin had to have it explained to her “Africa” was not one country.
I remember it well. She also had a different understanding of the Queen and UK…..I just don’t remember exactly what it was and I am too lazy to look it up.
She thought the Queen ran the UK government with no understanding it is a parliamentary system.
Thanks Bill. Yeah…. ;)
thank you Nena- I should tweet that :)
Palin also thought the Vice President “ran” the Senate. Said she’d be “down there working all the time on legislation!”
For just a slight moment–I thought that young Princess Sasha was her Mommy. Then I squinted and realized,,,,,,
Our trip has begun; so excited.
Thank you for the photos! It’s really helps to orient ourselves! I don’t think the time difference is too extreme so maybe we’ll be able to watch things in real time?
Time difference between USA and Senegal is:
Senegal is 4:0 hours ahead of USA
Yes! So Pacific is +7.
And when they get to South Africa it goes up to 6, then 7 hours difference in Dar es Salam.
Beautiful! Just Beautiful! Thanks so much Chips. I will just take it all in, Pics, captions, comments, everything. :)
After years of colonialism and imperialism forced on them by Western countries, it must be really something for the various African nations to see that for the first time the head of “the most powerful country in the world” and his family look like many of them.

Wow, what a crowd!
Amazing isn’t it……… an 80 yr. old woman that had the tenacity of a pitbull.
Now that’s a crowd. Nice.
It was good to join the many people in front of the Supreme Court today in support of #MarriageEquality http://t.co/trMfAQPIH9— John Lewis (@repjohnlewis) June 26, 2013
I see the entire family has picked up PBO’s habit of not holding on to the railing. Mrs. Robinson and Leslie are doing the sensible thing.
Chips, I really like the tweets section of the sidebar.
Ah, great CEB! I wasn’t sure if the rolling tweets would make the site even slower for everyone, but so far so good…. I think. :???:
Really like them there too, makes it easy to keep with up with PBO, Flotus, WH tweets, etc.
Thank you Mr. Obama.welcome to Sénégal.By student in architecture.
Thanks to Senegal for their warm hospitality to our beloved First Family!
Welcome to TOD! Give the good people of Senegal our peace and love.
Rand Paul told Glenn Beck today he wanted to be an “illegal immigrant” so he can avoid Obamacare. What an ass.
Oh, yes, and maybe the can spend the next year or two picking lettuce or strawberries. JERK.
I’m going to tweet that racist little shit.
Sherijr. It’s a good thing for the Paul idiot to keep talking. Everything is on record and with every statement he makes himself more and more unelectable outside his own state. All any Dem candidate would have to do is run Paul’s own words in an ad.
excellent points Jackie :) he’ll disgust the majority.
I think Rand Paul should give up all taxpayer-provided health care and pay for everything out of pocket. Like so many of us do who can’t wait for affordable health care
Well he can always become an immigrant and leave the country and go live somewhere else where they don’t have healthcare — Somalia perhaps?.
This promises to be a wonderful week for Favorite Family. They all look radiant in these photos.
On another topic
Supreme Court decisions that show the True Agenda:
2000 Bush V. Gore The US President can be selected by rich folks.
2006 Kelo V. Town of New London A corporation that is richer than you may take your house. (This was the end of property rights in USA.)
2009 Citizens United Rich corporations may spend all they want to buy elections in order to secure candidates rich people prefer.
2013 Voting rights Act gutted Voting rights exist for those who can afford to exercise them.
There is a trend here, for sure. We will do what we can but we need to understand just what it is we are actually up against.
Dec 9, 2000 The FL Votes counts were stopped by SCOTUS….Scalia
Jan 21, 2010…..Roberts and his gang of 4, made Corporations people.
June 25, 2013…..VRA was gutted………….The SCOTUS since 2000 are deliberately hurting Most Americans.
Yes they are, Nena, and we need one conservative to retire–just one. This is among the top ten reasons why we must elect a Democratic president in 2016.
Oh Hellllllooo Senegal, hopefully we’ll get to see more soon…?
I just received an email from my older brother (and if you realize how old I am you realize he is almost ancient). Anyway, he had attached the following. I believe he wrote this and is trying to come up with something, a plan of action. As it happens, we will be meeting this weekend for our family reunion. When I return I will pass on ideas. OFA is great, but the more activities out there the better. Anyway, this is what it said:
June 25th, 2013 – a day on which the full political nature of the Supreme Court of the United States of America was placed on a podium for all Americans to observe and hopefully declare, “We will over come, and not some day, but now.”
The five men on the Court who voted to disallow the existing method for determining when persons in power usurp the rights of individuals to express their opinion, to raise their hand and say, “I believe . . . “, these five men know exactly what they are doing.
They have removed a section of law that protects against the disenfranchisement of persons who have an inalienable right to have a voice in their life. That section may not have been perfect, but it has been a barrier to those who would impose their will on others through manipulation and diminution of the rights of those others.
The five men in power on the Court are in lockstep in removing a safeguard, knowing full well that their recommended solution for creating a “better” safeguard is a fantasy in today’s political and social world. The bandage is taken off before the wound is healed and infection will set in long before replacement treatment is effected. Hopefully amputation of civil society will not be necessary.
Two things are constant in our world.
First, many of those in power, if unchecked, will exert that power to enhance their position at the unconscionable expense of others.
Second, the majority of Americans, throughout the country, believe in fairness and equality.
That majority must now rise, change today’s political and social world, and make a forceful statement to their elected representatives, and if those representatives are unresponsive, replace them. This requires a grassroots effort with massive participation. Not only the five men on the Supreme Court, but so many others must understand that the people will not be oppressed and will not stand for the oppression of others. If not, who is next? Will it be you?
This email message should be front-paged.
Excellent, excellent, Japa. You brother is a wise man and he is speaking truth. SCOTUS offended every democracy supporting American in the country. We are in this together and we must fight together.
As one of the people, I declare loudly that I will not be oppressed nor stand for the oppression of others. I want to do everything in my power to deliver this message forcefully to our representatives. Thank your brother for his words. I’m ready to do the work and interested in any ideas you pass along here.
50 yr anniversary March on Washington will be more than a commemoration it will be a continuation of the dream. http://t.co/apCe0hnyG3— Donna NoShock (@NoShock) June 26, 2013
Just perfect, Donna.
This flyer should be front-paged as well :)

Ok, unless other bt’s are working on one, I have a night owl post idea.
I have a music thread I never got to posting….. but if you want to get something of your chest, or any other BT’s. Just let me know
We’ll probably need two music chats anyway.
Sounds like a plan…… until further notice….
So I’ll post first, and then you can bat cleanup.
Okay, I’ll make an executive decision  Will we go for alphabetical order, LL then LP?
Whatcha mean that’s a cop-out?
Works for me, especially since this chat is about to get overloaded.
But since it’s not really night yet, I shall change the title of my post. (No, East Coast doesn’t count.)
These “night owl” posts always drive me crazy when I’m still at work and others are already partying… Please proceed.

You know Donna, I thought the one in Ireland (the first trip) was long …. but this was a world record breaker! I was beginning to think the entire population was there :-)
O M G! Are you guys making fun of my people????
Noooooooooo Kreen, we’re overcome with love for the beeeeautiful, warm reception!!!
God, I feel SO much pride just at the sight of them!

You are kidding, not our Glen Greenwald.
The Washington National Cathedral will hold a special service Wednesday night to celebrate the Supreme Court rulings that struck down the federal Defense of Marriage Act and the California proposition banning gay marriage.
“Today’s rulings announce a new era for our country, one in which married lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans can finally enjoy the same federal recognition and protection that our laws have for so long extended to their fellow citizens,” said Rev. Gary Hall, the dean of the National Cathedral, in a press release Wednesday.
The announcement of the service, which begins at 7 p.m., was accompanied by an invitation by Hall to “LGBT couples and families.”
And that’s not the only way the cathedral is celebrating the SCOTUS rulings.
At noon, the Washington Ringing Society rang the cathedral’s bells to the tune of “Gloria in Excelsis,” and according to Cathedral spokesman Richard Weinberg, many other D.C. churches plan to do the same, CBS DC reported.
“We are ringing our bells at the Cathedral to celebrate the extension of federal marriage equality to all the same-sex couples modeling God’s love in lifelong covenants,” said Hall. “Our prayers for continued happiness are with them and with all couples who will be joined in matrimony in the years to come, whether at Washington National Cathedral or elsewhere.”
The cathedral will also host a group of leaders from various faiths who will speak at a press conference at 5 p.m. preceding the special service in support of marriage equality.
Layla, I’m glad the National Cathedral is doing this, but I would also like to see them do a Requiem Service for the death of our voting rights. John Lewis could be invited to give the sermon.
I am rather curious to see whether Chris Hayes will open his show tonight with “Snowden” in light of the recent revelations about his pre-Obama attitudes towards leakers. If he doesn’t discuss Snowden, or fails to address the recent revelations, that will tell me everything I need to know.
Hayes may be bright enough to realize Snowden is beginning to lose his appeal with the emoprogs. He might wish to change the topic. It will be interesting. None of the other Snowden groupies seem to be mentioning the new revelations.
Much to my surprise, someone was brave enough to post a diary on Old Orange – and you should see the twisting of selves into pretzels and just the blatant denials, dismissal of inconvenient facts, etc. It was pitiful to watch these fools try to save face with crappy excuses like “Well it’s the message that matters – not the messenger” or “well he has grown” or “I’d rather be free than safe” or such crap.
This is exactly how Teabaggers, and far-right folks think. It was nauseating quite frankly. Of course, the diary did not make the rec list. These revelations are just a bit too inconvenient and cognitive dissonance-inducing for these rabid Obama-hating Libertarian Republicans.

Something the first family might see.
Greenwald is crying and waving his hands around about claiming victimhood. What an egotistical gnat.
That’s what cowards do. “Egotistical gnat” fitting :)
This is Gigi’s “jumping the school of sharks” phase.
He is having a rough day. The world found out he was a porn investor. Snowden said leakers should be shot in the balls. And Snowden cannot get out of the Moscow airport and nobody cares. Not a good day.

So this just happened………. 99ts? What THA is going on?
Kevin Rudd is being sworn in as Prime Minister of Australia. For the second time.— Latika Bourke (@latikambourke) June 26, 2013
Some (in the press) call it the 2nd coming (I could give some non-religious views on that) – Rudd is a micro manager who no-one liked as PM and he was all talk and NO action. His party (and that of the ex PM) are going to lose the next election. They are seriously disorganized. Rudd went on a wanks tour – convincing the press that he could do better in the opinion polls than the PM (Julia Gillard). The labor party in Australia has many factions. It takes an amazing person to get them to agree on anything – Rudd couldn’t do it 1st time around – and he won’t this time either. Only when they unite to defeat the right do they ever do any good.
The history of Australian politics, sees the left doing all the social changes and the right claiming they are the good guys while they do little other than help themselves and their cronies. As in the US, the right does nothing of benefit – yet the press applauds their inaction as wonderful. I have many family who agree with the right – all rather sad. As I get older I move more and more to the left (not sure that is supposed to happen!)
I could rant for hours, but you might have gathered – I don’t like Rudd – I don’t like his religion either – we do not need religion in our politics & both Rudd & the opposition party bring that along. The Press, owned and run by the right, brought down Julia – gave her no support whatsoever.
I just remeber he had some incident w/ a Camel I think….. about says it all….. Thanks for the background though.
LL and LP? Would you both mind holding your Night Owl Chats for a little bit, Zizi has a post on Africa nearly ready to go and now’s probably the best time to post because tomorrow will be busy. Is that okay? Thanks a trillion!
Oh poop, let me cancel mine.
Oh LL, soooooooo sorry, just saw Zizi’s msg now – if Zizi’s post gets busy and you’re still around you could post it then maybe? If you’re busy/asleep we could use it tomorrow? Sorry again.
Oh, we can totally use it tomorrow. Not at all date sensitive.
Thanks LL, and sorry again for the muddle, completely my fault.
Ok, reverted mine to draft.
LP, you can go ahead and post for tonight. Mine will hold until tomorrow.
Wondered why you and I were the only ones on your “draft” having a conversation!
Utter chaos……….. this must be a spillover from Wimbledon? No prob Chips…. ZiZi the floor is yours!

Ha, I think you’re absolutely right Meta, I am being showered with brilliance! I keep saying I’ll come up with a plan to sort it out …. but…. :???:
26 Senators Send A Letter Thanking Texas Sen. Wendy Davis
Dear Senator Davis:
Thank you for your courage and determination in defeating S.B. 5, a bill that would have severely limited women’s reproductive choices in Texas. Your steadfastness sets an example that one person’s voice and commitment can make a difference. As Senators, we were awestruck as we watched you stand on the Senate floor of the Texas Legislature for hours in the face of ideologically based attempts to pass legislation that would threaten women’s health. Thanks to your dedication, Texas and the rest of the country will rethink efforts to enact similar laws. We are proud to call you an ally and a friend.
With appreciation and admiration,
