FORWARD & Winning 4morefor44!
Congrats on Your Gold 4morefor44.
It’s been a manic Monday.
Teresa Heinz Kerry has been Upgraded to Fair. That is better. I continue to wish her well.
Phew. Thank goodness. That’s great news.
Sigh of relief. I hope they know the cause and it’s fixable.
That’s excellent news. I hope she can recover and go home soon.
Can’t imagine it would be so hard to sell something so wonderful.
Good news about Mrs. Kerry.
Am using my new email address so I lost my tag Obama Grandmama as I could not see how to put it in. Advice?
Hi OG, no worries, you’re in! Just use ‘Obama Grandmother’ and your new address, no problems!
Until the media and Pundits deal with disgraced lawmakers equally……I say to Eliot Spitzer……You go for it man. His Money was spent on Hookers. No doubt some sort of NSA was used to stop him from taking Wall Street Down with all their ill behavior against our Markets.
Joe Scarborough with all his cheating and a death of an intern in his FL office earns $6M yearly spewing lies on MSNBC M-F 3 hrs daily. Newt has just gotten a job with CNN with 3 cheating wives, calling president Obama racist names…..etc. Ensign…..Craig, Cain, Giuliani, etc The TN rep has Never received any national media targeting, even after a Fine of $500. Yet Not one Journ has asked Speaker Boehner why that guy is still in office.

I agree, Nena20409, Spitzer had quite a few enemies including elements of the pataki-3-men-in-a-room regime (sadly, too much of that is still intact), specifically joe.bruno. That slug was about to go down after decades of scamming NY voters, but he got Spitzer first and was able to slink out ‘before charges could be brought’.
I’m going to work on LTE about ObamaCare in WY. I will be checking back in with questions and advice. I need to do this in a way that does not antagonize the readers. Writing doesn’t come easily for me. So I expect it to take at least a week. I’ll need breaks of course to keep up on what’s going on with your efforts. TOD has been an inspiration for me and a great resource of information. Thank you all, especially Chips and the BlogTyrants.
Prayers to all who are suffering losses and pain in their personnel lives. Those we know about and those we don’t. My prayers are also for the Trayvon Martin family. Special prayers for President Obama and his family.
I have found in writing LTE to my local paper, that it’s important to read their guidelines for how many words they allow and to link it to a recent article they have published. Occasionally, they will publish longer pieces as an op-ed, but usually not from “regular people” like us. Good luck! This is a worthwhile way to get the facts out.
Thanks Judith. Yes, I know our local papers rules etc, but I want to get to Casper, Cheyenne and Jackson. That’s my first research project. Tying it to my paper is easy. The others I have read more of. If you think of more tips, please let me know.
So proud of you for taking this important step:) Thank you for doing this…the people of WY should know the truth:)
Hello Chips & TOD. :) Just grabbing a quick break to post this here.

Hiya Hopefruit, hope all’s good?
work-related deadline LOOMING…
Other than that – everything’s fine n dandy :) Thanks chips!
Yikes, I can never understand why some people leave everything so close to a work deadline.
:-) Good luck Hopefruit!
Me neither. I don’t know what is wrong with people like that. :)
And Mourning Joke and Mitchell and the Cycle…..even Bashir was Not all that Good with this story.
LOD was The ONLY MSNBC show with The accurate reporting on the IRS story from Day One and he also didn’t jump the guns on the Snowden’s story. He was measured.
Lawrence did not read the article in Salon. The article not only mentions Tweety and Chuck Todd but also Mrs. Greenspan, Morning Joe, and even Robert Gibbs, now an MSNBC contributor, who criticized the administration.
London’s The Mirror pointed out not only did Murray break the 77 year gap for a winner from Great Britain, but also Murray and Djokovic were born 7 days apart, Murray broke Djokovic in the 7th game of each set, and Murray won his 7th Grand Slam final on the 7th day of the 7th month.
So Hip Hip Hip Murray must have Number 7 as his Lucky number? That is amazing.
what 7th grand sllam final ?
Lawrence is on Twitter all angry that Salon published an article calling out the MSM (including some at MSNBC) for false reporting of the IRS . If I remember correctly, Chuck Todd, Tweety AND Rachel all went with flawed reports and called referred to the situation as a “scandal” hinting at wrongdoing on the part of the Obama administration. Yet Lawrence is trying to pretend as if none of this happened just because he didn’t go along with that reporting on his show.
If the going narrative on MSNBC is A, and one or two hosts (with less gravitas than the others) say it’s B, that does not get MSNBC off the hook!!!
Oh, good, infighting between MSNBC and Salon. More distractions. These folks are so self-absorbed, it’s unreal, although I guess we shouldn’t be shocked by any of it.
His whine is because the article said “MSNBC” as a whole and didn’t single out his show because he never took the “scandal” frame. He makes a point but that doesn’t mean that if you have 12/13 shows that air during the day and only one of them has journalistic integrity that you can’t come to the conclusion that author came to that almost all on that station took the bait and ran with it.
Lawrence’s show comes on I believe at 10:00 PM here on the east coast, long after many folks have gone to bed.
He was in the minority at MSNBC on this mess but he needs to take a long hard look at his colleagues rather than bashing the author because that is where the problem lies….Tweety, Chuck Todd, JoeScar, Andrea Mitchell, Rachel and I could go on and on and on….
LOD should ONLY defend himself NOT MSNBC for None other than his show was Right from Day One.
Lawrence is crazy. Maybe he didn’t jump all over it, but everyone else did. And even after they all found out the story was BS, they changed the narrative to “Obama handled it poorly”
LOD is Not crazy…..Just a misplaced loyalty for MSNBC that doesn’t deserve it. LOD was right from day one, in the middle and at the end of the IRS story. He was Firm. He researched the story and told the truth from Day one.
But doesn’t he have an obligation to tell his fellow colleagues that they are peddling a bogus story? Yes Lawrence did the right thing regarding this story. That makes one out of 13 or so shows that air on MSNBC. This, don’t blame us all because one got it right just sounds ludicrous to me…
Walter Cronkite would have called out his entire network had he been in the same position. That IMO is true journalistic integrity.
He should have called out the rest of his coworkers. By saying that everyone on his network did the right thing, he insult the intelligence of all of the viewers who heard what all of these talking heads were saying.
I know he was on Mourning Joke and tried to state his case. He had other Hosts or guest contributors and raised the issues. Under his Contract……I don’t think he is supposed to call his colleagues out in public. What he says behind the scene is a whole lot of issue.
Yes, Walter Cronkite would have. He was CBS News. LOD is Not MSNBC News. A Russert would have…..just like he called the Nomination for then sen Obama the evening of the Super Tuesday. He had that authority…..for both NBC and MSNBC.
I think it’s a tactic for people to say “MSNBC was terrible, but Lawrence was fantastic”. He’s got a bit of an ego, but I’ll forgive him for it, because he’s often one of the only sane voices on that channel. He usually gets it right.
I won’t hold my breath waiting on this but it felt good to say it to him!!!

Chuck Todd is never correct about anything. This morning he and the other Egyptian expert, Morning Joe, were discussing what will happen in Egypt. DC is full of Egyptian experts yet MSNBC has those two yahoos giving their opinions.

Catholic Bishops Call On Congress To Fix Voting Rights Act
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) called on Congress Monday to quickly pass legislation protecting voting rights in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision that gutted a centerpiece of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.
CNN just cut away from the NTSB presser to get ” opinions ” from Sullenberger and MSNBC is fixed on the Zimmerman trial.
Not a news entity any more….just opinions and Infotainment.
And the opinions are from uninformed pundits simply babbling words. They are never called on past comments.
I’m so tired of “Sulley,” dude thanks for everything but please go away.
I’m sick of conjecture and supposition that passes for news.
Conjecture and supposition is all you have left when journalist can’t or won’t do their job.
Won’t. Journalism used to be about a whole lot more than going to cocktail parties or sitting at your desk waiting for the phone to ring.
The journalists emeritus could do that – after pounding pavements and researching and double-checking every source for 35 years before they earned the right to have sources come to them. Now, every perfectly coiffed air head – and yes I’m talking to you, Chuck Todd – gets to sit and polish their nails and report RW talking points without an ounce of journalism being practiced.
Except that I’m not sure Chuck Todd is sitting and polishing his nails, much, since he looks to me more like he could use a good shower first.
I think Chuck Todd thinks about Chuck Todd and only Chuck Todd every minute of every single day. I shudder to think where that narcissism leads.
Yes, we’ve seen some of it spill over in public, already … and I wish he’d just go away and leave us alone!
I just want journalism back. The journalism that informed me most of my life. I want honesty, truth, fairness. I’m sick of every snide comment from every jackass with a mic and an agenda. That’s not information, that’s propaganda and it permeates everything.
While I want justice for the Martin family, I have to say I’m sick to death of the Zimmerman trial. It’s hard to live in a “Zimmerman-free Zone” (as Mr. AJ and I wish for) when both MSNBC and CNN insist on showing every damn minute of it. Feh.

I need a moment to vent….
I have grown accustomed to listening to Joe Madison on Sirrus Radio on my drive into work each day (he no longer is on our local radio station). Sometimes his show is so intriguing that I sit in the parking lot hanging on every word spoken on his show even making myself late for work at times. Now I’ll tell you that Joe can be a little harsh at times but one thing he does is that he will not let people come on his show and complain or vent without asking them his No. 1 question. That question is “so what are you going to do about it.”
As I venture throughout the intertubz nothing annoys me anymore than to read people complaining about this President without an ounce of commitment from them. They are great at telling him what he needs to be doing or shouldn’t have done but you rarely ever read about them actually doing anything to get the out come that they obviously so desperately want/need. Nope, its just moan and complain to see how many people they can get to go down that rabbit hole with them….
I just want to scream to everyone of them I encounter…Get from behind that damn computer and go do something! We are the change we SEEK!
That is all..Carry On!!!
I do the same thing donna, I listen to Joe every morning as I’m driving to work. I’ve also been late a couple of times walking into the Prison where I work at because Joe is asking someone “So what are you going to do about it.? Joe has a way of getting me fired up in the morning.
Good rant, donna. I’ve asked several people the same thing. It’s the chief problem with the emoprogs, who prefer complaining to rolling up their sleeves and effecting the change they want. It would be interesting to see how many people/emoprogs know who their Congress person is, or have ever dialed or visited their Senator’s offices. One doesn’t have to do much – most of it can be done from behind a desk or from a couch.
There was an especially gratifying day the first time the President asked us to call our congress folks and we broke the phone systems at the Capitol. I don’t expect that to happen every time, but I also wonder – why doesn’t it? It takes five minutes to convey thanks for congressional support of the President’s agenda, or to ask for an explanation why support is being withheld. It’s easy. And usually, the person on the other end is a staffer who will be polite about it, regardless of their opinion. The biggest power the President has to influence Congress is us. And if people wonder why something hasn’t happened yet, then we have to look at ourselves first – and our neighbors. Someone keeps electing these people, and someone keeps telling them that what they’re doing against the middle class and regular Americans is ok – and silence speaks for itself. It is, after all, government “by the people”.
@ParableJean For me, Pres. Obama is handling issues exactly the way I knew he would, and I haven't felt the need to advise him. @NerdyWonka— (@JOBoomr) July 08, 2013
I see this on facebook, and normally don’t say anything because no minds are going to be changed. However before the election last year Virg Bernero, Lansing mayor and failed Dem candidate for Michigan Governor, had a lot to say about how useless President Obama was, and I would call him on it every time. I often got pushback from other commenters too. Then he shut up and seemed to be supporting the president whole-heartedly. then yesterday he posts again, how ‘disappointed’ he is with President Obama, he’s not a progressive, broke campaign promises, on and on. I wrote a looong response about how much the president has done and how he (Bernero) was not supporting the man he voted for and how President Obama fights for what he can get, and then works to make it better. I asked if he had been “disappointed” with Clinton for DOMA and DADT and did he think those policies were progressive? And if so, what did he think of PBO repealing them! Today I had one response from a woman that said DOMA and DADT don’t count because Joe Biden got them passed and PBO hadn’t really done much else. If I could have reached through the computer and throttled her I would have. I asked if she had also dismissed Clinton and credited Gore with all the accomplishments. I posted a link to Milt Shook’s list of PBO’s accomplishments (it goes on and on). It felt kind of pointless, but when I looked at the other responses (about 5) they were all ‘likes’ of my comment and one “You go, Mary Jones!) I realize pushing back on these posts is mostly useless, and I don’t do it often, but sometimes I think maybe someone else is reading and will have their eyes opened. It also enrages me that Virg Bernero posts this offal, him being the mayor of a town centered on the auto industry, that wouldn’t even exist if not for President Obama. Next time I will ask your question, “So what are you doing about it?”
Great rant, Donna! You expressed my sentiments so well.
I want to Rant a bit re:” the ACA” (aka Obamacare). I mentioned this before on this site last summer. Where is our Surgeon General in all of this? Why was she not out promoting it, on the talk shows, at rallies, doing local town-hall events? I ask my friends who the Surgeon General is and they all say the same thing. They don’t know! She seems like a very nice person but I hear no “VOICE”. I was also hoping she would join our FLOTUS with the MOVE It campaign and become an example to our people that exercise and eating right does work.
We need a new Surgeon General…just my thoughts
Good point. This is a “bully pulpit” that is perceived as apolitical and Americans generally listen to what the US Surgeon General has to say. I have no idea what she has been doing – fairly invisible unlike C. Everett Coop who was very visible and did a world of good with his anti-smoking campaigns.
I knew who she was, Dr. Regina Benjamin, but when I went to Google her involvement in publicizing the ACA, I only found a few references – 2010, 2011, 2012 – and nothing popped up right away that was current. Unfortunately, her website is not too stellar or up-to-date, either:
Methinks she needs some new public relations staffers. Might be good if some of us send her a request to be more prominent. Not everybody can be as good as a couple of our previous Surgeon Generals were in making the rounds, but it’s also not good to be practically invisible to the public at large. Of course, I could be missing a whole lot, since I didn’t spend too much time on this.
Here’s one video from an appearance she made during National Engineers Week 2013:
… and one at the Spelman College commencement, this year:
The current surgeon general will be stepping down in a couple weeks (she has served the typical amount of time for a surgeon gen). I guess her role is different from HHS secretary Kathleen Sebelius who in my opinion has done a fabulous job of promoting ACA.
Likely, the strategy was to have Kathleen Sebelius do the ACA promotion (and I’m too busy right now to go into the probable reasons for this strategy), but I will will say that I agree with the administration in having Sebelius as the front person for ACA’s promotion.
So just to follow up on my posts a couple weeks ago, i had written my odious congress-weasel erik paulsen (MN)in regards to him doing the right thing with guns and immigration. not suprisingly i have not yet heard back from him on those issues. he is such a do-nothing… i can’t wait for a chance to vote him out of office.
Who is running on the Dem ticket against him? Just another MN wondering.

I also listen to Joe Madison whenever I am in my car in the a.m. I, too, love his question “So what are you going to do about it?” I join your rant, donna.
Ahhh I almost forgot to share my “lunch engagement”:
Today I went to Potbelly’s for lunch (its a sub and salad restaurant) because I love their salads. When we walked in there were these two men in black suites standing in the back of the restuarant. When i walked past one I notice the earpiece and that immediately sent my radar up. I was telling my co-worker that the President might be coming to Potbelly’s so let’s eat in. The place was very crowed today. So we went through the line and ordered our food and then I noticed standing about 3 feet from me was DOT Secretary Anthony Foxx. I went over and shook his hand and wanted a picture but the SS guy stepped in and said they had to go.
What a cutie patootie Sec. Foxx is. He is very tall and very handsome in person.
:) desert! What a special treat.
I wonder if all of the Administrations cabinet members get SS detail?
Apparently anyone in the line of succession to the Presidency is entitled to a small SS detail. See we learn something new everyday!
Donna, that’s fantastic!! I shouldn’t boast, but PBO was actually there when I visited in 2009 – and he proved quite popular with passing ladies
OMG that’s hilarious. I knew I sensed his presence while there today. I was 100% right!
…… were you one of those passing ladies????
Hush!!! I would never “kiss” and tell.

Attack is all they know, df. Hate, smear, attack and undermine. The GOP stands for not ONE positive thing.
sadly, yes. When all you care about is power, and not the people….this is what you get from Republicans. Couple that with an incompetent media that doesn’t make them answer for their lies, obstruction and bs….and it’s toxic. The good news is that there’s more of us:) We just have to work smarter and harder than they do….
In case this has not been posted here, Theresa Heinz Kerry said to have suffered a grand mal seizure, had to be intubated. Frightening.
That is so very sad! Sending thoughts up for her and her family.
Strange that they would have to intubate her for a seizure….hope that she will be alright. How frightening
I love the idea of calling this #zoecare because the word zoe comes from the Greek and means “life”! Best wishes for a happy and healthy life for Zoe!
A really good analogy:
“The best analogy I can think of comes when you put a search term into Google or Bing, and it shows you the top results. In order to get to those results, however, it had to look at every website on the Internet and reject those it found irrelevant. No one SEES the results they reject, but, for a search engine to be effective, it has to have access to pretty much everything.”

‘Means “life” in Greek.’
Seems very appropriate to me.
I called the US Dept. of Health & Human Resources in DC and asked if there was ready-made material in English and Spanish that we could hand out to people at public events and here’s what I found out. Because of budget cuts, NO materials are pre-made and you must download all from the HHS website and then print in whatever quantities you need. I pointed out that this was very costly for the individual or volunteer coordinator who was trying to put information into people’s hands. When I was told to refer people to a website, I said that wouldn’t work in a crowd because people simply would not remember when they got home or might be computer illiterate. So the gist of it is that I will have to download and print hundreds of brochures and then hand fold them because Congress withheld the money to print handouts. I will do whatever it takes to get the information put together, but I’m truly furious at this. I’m thinking of organizing a team of people who could download in their homes and then get together to fold, but really, this do-it-yourself approach to something so critical to the health and well-being of 300 million people is infuriating. I’m thinking of asking the volunteers who hand out brochures to tell people they are getting a hand produced brochure because Republicans don’t care about their health.
I would send you some funds to reduce your costs Jackie, Chips has my email and could give it to you or you could post where I could send some funds. Where is the DNC on this, think will tell them no more donations until they share to help with cost of educating public. As a matter of fact, you would be getting the donation sent to them.
Anna, I’ll be fine, but you should work with your local county party to help get these brochures printed in whatever area you’re in. If we all do this locally, we’ll at least get some materials in the system. PBO told us we were the change we were waiting for and it’s down to us to do this. All of us worked together in teams to get PBO elected and that’s what we need to do again. Activate our teams. Get everyone to chip in and get their printers humming. Put on the coffee, get out the cookies and get to folding. Then put this information into the hands of everyone we meet. We won’t be defeated.
As the for the DNC, before you could even get someone to answer a phone call, you could probably get the work done faster yourself. At least the people at HHS were polite and helpful. The women on the phone actually thanked me for understanding.
So proud of you JB. You said the website has the info, it hust needs to be downloaded? Could you post that link. I’ve probably been HHS.gov, but for clarity I’d like too know I’m on the right thing.
Aagh, Carol, I’m not sure how to do this. It’s the http://www.healthcare.gov site and the downloadable brochure is the Affordable Care Law and You. They had it in both English and Spanish pdf versions.
Thank you. I’ll find it. :)
Would it be the How does the ACA help people like me?
Carol, if the brochure is good and you think it’s helpful, then download it. It needs to be in a form that’s printable and foldable.
Thank you Jackie.
This is a really serious problem. We’ve never tried to implement a program like this without additional resources – Bush bloated the Federal work force to get Medicare Part D up and running, and the administration can’t even send out brochures.
More power to you Jackie. You’re doing wonderful work. This is what I keep telling people who whine and rant about the Obama Administration not doing anything or enough to promote ObamaCare. The GOP controls the purse strings. ObamaCare had a projected amount of funds that was to be used to spread the message far and wide but the GOP severely slashed and decimated the funding. The Obama Admin is doing the best they can along with outside groups and organizations they have enlisted.
It is not an easy road but when we all band together, be proactive, and share the load, we can help ObamaCare do and be better for the millions of people depending on the law.
We have ALWAYS had add'l resources for a new program. Here is what RWNJ Congress is doing to the U.S.: theobamadiary.com/2013/07/08/zoe…— (@FlowerInFaith) July 08, 2013
It would be nice to find someplace that would be willing to donate the cost of printing if you provide the paper….is there anyway of finding out if there are “progressive leaning” printing places in your area?? Then, you can have some friends over to your house, a little food and drink, and just fold and fold and fold…..
Yes, UT, banding together is the key. The Republicans in Congress are doing everything in their power to defeat us, but when we are together we are a mighty force and we will not be be silenced or put down. PBO can’t do this alone, nor can Sect. Sibelius and we certainly can’t rely on our states with Republican governors. It’s on us and we need to start putting all of our shoulders to the wheel.
Df, I live in a red county and ‘progressive leaning’ printers are not an option. It if a bunch of us keep our home printers humming, we can pump out a lot of black and white brochures. Color and better qualify paper cost more, but we can at least get basic information in people’s hands.
absolutely! You do great work and inspire others to work hard in their area….hugs to you, jackie…for all you do:)
Thank you Jackie G. I will follow your example. Like you I am infuriated by the Republicans in Congress are doing to undermine ACA. At the same time each of us has to pitch in and try to help spread the information.
I like the term Obamacare because our President does care. I think the name is great tribute to what this President and his administration fought for and the bonus is that it burns the Repubs as* every time they hear it and know the people are going to understand that contrary to what they have been saying…Obamacare works, it is in their best interest and provides great benefits.
I vote for keeping ACA Obamacare too. We fought too hard to overcome the negativity meant by the name to change it to Zoecare.
