It’s 6:30 here and 104 degrees:) Welcome to my world:) Actually…it was “pleasant” today by AZ standards….supposed to get some much needed rain by the end of the week. I don’t even remember the last time we had rain….

Our “feels like” (heat index) temp. tonight in Central Illinois was 97 about an hour ago. “Felt like” 97 to me all day since I woke up at 8:30 a.m. And we had some minor rain this morning, which did nothing but make it more muggy.

Thank you so much for posting this, Chips. I listened to him at the memorial today and he was magnificent and gave a powerful, heartfelt speech. A Must See. I am so happy that he came to be with them on this solemn occasion.

I don’t want to be disrespectful, but the comments about John McCain. I’ll leave it alone. Only in honor of the firefighters.

Agreed. McCain has no honor as far as I’m concerned…but he sure did like getting that praise from VP Biden…. I’m very angered by both Senators…who voted for the sequester, thus drastically cutting firefighters, wildfire land mgmt….all of it. But they both go on and on, talking out both sides of their mouths, because the public has no idea of the truth….they have R’s behind their names, so that’s all that matters. Angers me that these kids, and they WERE kids, died, in part, because of the sabotage and recklessness of the Republicans.

These firefighters are REAL heroes. Thanks VP Biden for your touching tribute and comforting words. I’m sure the families deeply appreciated your presence.

    Yes, Chips, thank you.

Will watch now, if I can make it through the tears.

“Of the hundreds of Hotshot crews, the Navy SEALs of wildfire fighting, the Granite Mountain group is the only one that’s part of an urban fire department. Most of its members were born and raised in Prescott. When the Yarnell Hill fire broke out just 30 miles away, the proximity drove them to respond with even more urgency than they usually did. Some raced out so fast that, hours later, the meals they were halfway through were still sitting on the firehouse table.”

This is from an article with a point of view that a lot of people don’t want to hear. I think more thought needs to be given as to where we allow homes to be built, and homeowners need to truly understand the risks when they buy a house in the Western US that is in the middle of chaparral or pine forests.

Near the coast, the irony is that if we allowed “natural” burns, the coastal ecosystem would probably change to an oak-woodland instead of chaparral, which is so dangerous and life-threatening.

Please, please, please….. someone who really knows how to do investigative reporting, look into Gov. Walker’s background.

Greedy Basta*ds. They know that VA Governor’s Job is for One Term. They wanted to Milk that 4 yrs for what it’s worth?

Absolute Power, corrupting absolutely? Hmm? And many IL govs have gone to jail for these type of activities.

If one of these tea party governors would be convicted of corruption (not to mention treason), that might start a trend. They could all go to one of their finest “privatized” prisons and become really good friends with each other for a couple of decades.

Back to the drawing board…. maybe that’s why GOP took out food stamps from the farm bill today….you know wasteful spending and all……..why is it the Democratic presidents always inherit deficits & leave office w/ surpluses

Best Vice President in history. We bestow the title to President Obama (and rightly so) as the Best President in history but Joe Biden is so sincerely and authentic. Love our VP JB.

For those of you complaining about the sequester, come October the GOP wants another one just like it, until we drastically cut Medicare the way they want, they will continue holding this country hostage.
So, focus on the upcoming sequester, try to stop it, the other one is ancient history! :(

Ohhhh…..Just saw previews of the movie, The Butler, looks good….it has Forest Whittaker and Oprah in it. The title might change but it spans American history from the 50’s to the 80’s.
