The internet is the last refuge of anonymous cowards who want to spout disgusting racist sexist ageist whatever else crap with no real repercussions. I don’t post comments online that I’m not willing to attribute to myself. But then again, racism, sexism, et just isn’t in my usual repertoire.

That would be such a great ticket.

I have misgivings about Biden. I say up front: he would be a truly great President, but I notice that his speech patterns are very repetitious these days, and I’m dearly afraid that Repubs would go for just wearing him out on the campaign trail. Optics, certainly not substance.

But in terms of the quality of that ticket who would serve the country well – it’s top notch.

I emailed my state rep and state senator (not US) to revisit the Stand Your Ground laws in Oregon. I made reference to the FL trial and outcome. I previously was not aware that our state even had that law.

lamh36, that is great to hear. I listen to Trayvon’s parents on all three morning shows. And I want those jurors, specially B-37 to put herself in those parents shoes, what if this happen to their child? I think B-37 is a racists, I think her mind was made up before she heard a piece of evidence, I bet she is a Fox watcher, she might even listen to Rush, and she voted for Mitt.

Reform of the filibuster – not elimination – is still an issue that must be addressed.

      July 18, 2013 at 12:03 pm

Carl Levin, who has been one of the Dem’s who question the extent of filibuster reform, was quite vocal in opposing the nuclear option. But he would be on board with a talking filibuster. It just has to be harder to do. Not eliminated (although I still believe Republicans will render the filibuster moot for Dem’s if they ever get the Senate back), but it must only be used in very unusual circumstances.

“Levin said the “filibuster has been abused” and suggested that the rules should be changed to force senators to physically filibuster nominees, rather than simply placing a procedural hold that requires the same 60 votes to break.
“Why do we not force folks threatening to filibuster to filibuster? We can do it..Stand up and filibuster all night. Why wont we spend a day, a weekend, August, forcing folks threatening to filibuster? Go ahead, filibuster a judicial nominee who got unanimous approval in committee… You’re threatening to filibuster that nominee? Go ahead. You know how long it will last? About an hour.”

He’s been pretty damn awful, for a senator I used to think was reliable. He’s one of 17 senators (mostly Republican) who doesn’t support pulling sexual assault cases in the military away from the chain of command. He pretty much shut down any and all filibuster reform, and now is moderating his views somewhat. When you can retire without a care in the world, never to worry about income or health care, you don’t give a damn about the rest of the country and what they face in the future?

Now that he is retiring, he could have been more liberal in his stands especially after he has seen the extremism of his ‘hon’ble friends’ across the aisle. #Asshole.

“We didn’t know details about the case. We knew some of them but some of the details came out in the courtroom as far as previous 911 calls and I think it was obvious that it was a black person, a black young person that they were looking for. But Trayvon simply was not that person. Trayvon was not a burglar. He wasn’t doing anything wrong. He simply went to the store and was headed back home. For somebody to look at him and to perceive him to be a burglar, that is the problem.”

Trayvon’s Mother to Juror B37: “I Don’t Think She Knows Him”

Also Heart-breaking, she’s still speaking of him as a “present” person, and not in the past tense.

“”Trayvon is not a confrontational person. Instead of placing the blame on the teenager, we need to place the blame on the responsible adult. There were two people involved. We had an adult who was chasing a kid and we had a kid who I feel was afraid.””

Trayvon Martin’s parents shocked by verdict

    http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/trayvon-martins-parents-shocked-by-verdict

“We felt that the killer of our unarmed child was going to be convicted of the crime he committed,” Trayvon Martin’s dad Tracy said…

On ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Tracy Martin said he felt the jury did not get a chance to get to know the teen. “They didn’t know him as a human being,” he said.
Martin’s parents said they still believe Zimmerman, who identifies himself as Hispanic, racially profiled their son.

“Obviously, any time you have a person that makes an assumption that a person is up to no good, that’s some kind of profiling,” Martin said. “Was he racially profiled? I think if Trayvon had been white, this never would have happened.”

Martin’s mother said she believes the verdict sends a “terrible message to other little black and brown boys.”

“They can’t walk fast. They can’t walk slow. So what do they do? How do they get home without people assuming you are doing something wrong?,” Fulton said.

Oh, and Matt Lauer should never be allowed to interview any damn body. He had the nerve to ask the Martin will they ever forgive Zimmerman. Trayvon parents had better composure than I would have and Sabrina Fulton (Trayvon Martin’s mother) had a good response to Lauer’s bullshit.

“We sit on the side of the victims… Is this the intent for the justice system to have for victims,” Sybrina Fulton, Martin’s mother, said on the Today show Thursday morning. “Trayvon wasn’t doing anything wrong.”

    • 99 anniebella
      July 18, 2013 at 12:16 pm

I would have told Matt that hell no I have not forgiven Zimmerman, he kill my baby just because he was black. I would have told Matt that someday I hope to forgive him, but that day has not come yet.

    • July 18, 2013 at 12:25 pm

Matt Lauer is a complete idiot. These parents have just lost their case seeking justice for their murdered child and Matt Freakin’ Lauer wants to know if they’ve forgiven Zimmerman? How much more crass and craven and disgusting can these TV jerks get?
