Isn’t she? So down to earth, so natural, so warm. A very accomplished woman in her own right, and yet so humble. We couldn’t have asked for a better team in the Bidens. I look forward to seeing more posts from Lovely Plains on their trip to India.

I prefer to remember the intended “love story” part of it!

“It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as “the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage.” (Wiki)

The Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan for his favorite wife. It was built as a tomb for her. There is a beautiful love story associated with this building. I don’t remember it all, but it’s a good story. Never used as anything other than a memorial to love.

Coach Patino talked about how much the team was glad to be there to meet POTUS. One thing had me laughing when the Coach said that there is only one thing missing, Michelle. If Michelle was there it would really make the guys day. Those aren’t the exact words he used., but that’s what he were saying. It was a nice event.

THE RENAMED REPUBLICAN VERSION OF THE DREAM ACT

    Troubles plague the ‘KIDS Act’

    By Steve Benen

    ——————————————

Congressional Republicans are already taking a beating from the latest Spanish-language television network in the country. How about the largest Spanish-language newspaper?

Last week, House GOP leaders embraced something called the “KIDS Act,” which is basically the renamed Republican version of the DREAM Act. The political calculation isn’t subtle: Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) may kill comprehensive immigration reform, but they’re hoping this lesser bill softens the political impact.

“”As I have said in the past, these things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress. While some things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what I did was wrong. This behavior is behind me. I’ve apologized to Huma and am grateful that she has worked through these issues with me and for her forgiveness. I want to again say that I am very sorry to anyone who was on the receiving end of these messages and the disruption that this has caused. As my wife and I have said, we are focused on moving forward.””

He never did come clean when the original pictures surfaced; he admitted there could be more stuff. Then he resigned.

So undercovering his online contributions may be news, but not that they exist.

I’m trying to catch up here, think that Weiner occupies too much of my Twitter timeline regardless of whether there’s new revelations or not.

    ‘A REPUBLICAN PROCEDURAL EXCUSE’

FRANK SHARRY EXPLAINS WHY IMMIGRATION MOVEMENT WON’T ACCEPT HALF MEASURES LIKE KIDS ACT

    by Van Le on 07/23/2013

    ————————————

The Senate passed an important though imperfect bill on a bipartisan basis that has an inclusive path to legal status and an eventual but achievable path to citizenship. Right now in the House of Representatives, there are more than 218 votes for a similar bill. When I hear about Hastert rule and piecemeal and all this process mumbo-jumbo, I’m like, ‘give us a vote, dude.’ Right now the only thing standing between the people behind me and their families getting on a path to citizenship is a Republican procedural excuse, when the votes exist right now to pass it.

LL, let me answer that for you, Yes the dam MSM have lost it’s collective mind. Not everyone is all goo-goo over those people. I’m not saying I hate them, but the Queen, Charles, William, Harry, Kate, and the new baby are no better then anyone else.

We’ve seen enough coverage of death and its aftermath these last several weeks, non-stop, that I think a day or two of seeing a new life emerge – whether it’s here or abroad – is very soothing on the nerves. It won’t last long, and it gives people a chance to give their pros and cons, to mock or enjoy, which is healthy, and then we’ll move along. I wouldn’t give it much thought. Plus seeing any new baby in his parents’ arms is a good thing that reminds us to love one another, and keep that same wish for all babies – a happy and healthy start!

One of the UK reporters just said on TV that half their population is sick of the unending coverage, too, so it’s not just here in America. As I mentioned, we’ll all be moving along soon! (This is just my grandma take on it.)

Don’t forget we have the attention span of gnats, but remember we also spent days on balloon boy back in ’09! I’d rather have a #RoyalBaby watch everywhere! At least that’s pleasant.

        • July 23, 2013 at 4:47 pm

Martin Bashir said what I was thinking. They seemed so natural and glowing like any new parent and those of us with children reflect on the birth of our own children. Hopefully they were as blessed as mine are.

Go to the hospital and see a new born baby, who is just as important as that royal baby. I have voice my opinion over and over again, I hope Will and Kate and the new baby have a wonderful life, but I am not all goo-goo over that royal couple having a baby.

Based on his statement, scroll up, these are images/texts from his past and he and his wife have worked through the issue.

If that is true, then whomever released these could well be in legal trouble because the intent is merely to do harm.

      • July 23, 2013 at 2:55 pm

Growing up in NYC, I know quite well that NYC politics are as dirty as they come. I wonder if they can track who released the information.

        • July 23, 2013 at 3:09 pm

          True.

And, this is clearly an attack:

“The chats were posted by Nik Richie, the founder and contributing editor of The Dirty. The Dirty’s post gained traction in the mainstream when BuzzFeed’s Ben Smith posted them. Richie did not respond to a request for comment.

When he first jumped into the campaign, Weiner said that he couldn’t guarantee new photos like the one that forced him to resign wouldn’t surface.

Weiner had built up consistent leads in multiple recent mayoral polls before these new revelations, leading both City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and former Comptroller Bill Thompson.”

[Bobfr, earlier I read something that said these are from last summer. Is he telling the truth. TBD, I say.]:

[.....] Anthony Weiner’s campaign did not respond “to repeated inquiries about a new set of unverified images suggesting that he exchanged sexually charged messages — and an explicit image — with a woman last summer,” BuzzFeed reports. [.....]

        [Later post]:

Said Weiner: “I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out, and today they have. These things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress.”

Even the Aide Who Coined the Hastert Rule Says the Hastert Rule Isn’t Working

    By Molly Ball

    ——————————

Feehery actually wrote the speech in which Hastert laid out the rule that bears his name. He coined the catchy phrase “majority of the majority.” And now he thinks Boehner ought to ditch the Hastert rule.

Feehery outlined his thinking in a blog post in January. In a recent interview, he elaborated: Given the current “ungovernable” state of the House GOP caucus, he told me, Boehner must balance the risk to his own standing with the “larger reputational risk” to the Republican Party of things like, say, blocking the Violence Against Women Act — which would have happened had Boehner not violated the Hastert rule to get it through with the votes of just 38 percent of his members.

    ————————————————–

Without the Hastert Rule the Tea Party would be neutered in the House. I think GOP internal polls are showing that the Tea Party is leading the GOP to oblivion. The sudden wave of sanity coming from the Senate tells me that the “grownups” are trying to free the GOP from Tea Party control. If Boner jettisons the Hastert Rule, it would confirm my suspicions. Time will tell.

Agree with you 100% (mentioned you while I was talking to myself on previous thread, LOL). Here’s what I said over there:

GOP Senators are scared of their own shadows when it comes to facing a Tea Party primary challenger.

But since most of them are facing that possibility, I agree with ericfive that it’s now dawning on GOP Senators’ aides that, hey, TP primary challenger is inevitable, let’s look back at TP canditate implosion history:
        . Christine O’Donnell
        . Sharron Engel
        . Todd Akin
. Can’t remember that midwest fella who got confused with Akin whenever “GOP” and “rape” were mentioned

In my district, I have multiple schools, who on a regular basis produce valedictorians and they are undocumented. However, when members of this house use language such as “for every one that is a valedictorian, there are another 100 out there who weigh 130 pounds and have calves the size of cantaloupes because they’ve been hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert,” it is offensive.

    [Awww! Bless! :) ]:

Security personnel worry about all kinds of things when U.S. officials travel abroad, but Vice President Biden’s trip to India this week presented a special challenge: Monkeys.

About a dozen adult monkeys invaded a mango tree near a Gandhi statue that Biden and family members visited in New Dehli on Monday.

Officials were less worried about the monkeys themselves than the fact they were tossing unripe or partially eaten mangoes onto the ground below.
“What I don’t want is a mango to drop on the vice president when he comes here,” said an Indian security official, reported The Wall Street Journal.

Rest assured: The Biden visit went off without a hitch. [.....]

[.....] “As Mr. Biden and his wife walked towards the statue, and the monkey filled mango tree, Monday evening, photographers trained their cameras on the couple with a glint of anticipation. But no fruit fell from the tree as the U.S. vice president posed for a few seconds in front of the statue. Perhaps his security team had that covered too.”
