GM TODers! Hope all is well…COS, congrats on Numero Uno!

O/T, but just have to say, if someone has to post on FB that Republicans have helped African Americans more than Democrats, who are they trying to convince that they aren’t racist — us, or themselves?

A few things that have confused me about the Snowden, Manning, Assange, Greenwald supporters who argue that the government should not monitor suspicious communication due to privacy concerns:

HOW do we expect the intelligence analysts to determine patterns that pose a threat?

Doesn’t the public demand that spies “connect the dots”?

Will be likely to hear people say they are grateful for total privacy in the unfortunate but likely event that an attack happens which could have been prevented by meta-data analysis that the NSA is being condemned for.

What they mean when they say “the government should not monitor suspicious communication due to privacy concerns” is The Black Guy should not have access to all this information. None of these people spoke up when Bush and Cheney were doing it. In fact most deferred to whatever they wanted to do. This is straight up Obama Derangement Syndrome.

It compares to the Tea Party signs protesting Obamacare that read Keep your hands off my Medicare. It didn’t make sense.

Africa, just imagine that number without GOP obstruction and without the sequester suppressing jobs. Imagine if the American Jobs Act had been passed and if our infrastructure were being repaired all across the country, providing good jobs for tens of thousands of people. Imagine if Republican governors and the US Congress were not intent on cutting public service jobs and teachers and first responders. This country would be booming and all of our economic cylinders would be pumping. To think about that is to weep.

No doubt. It is a shame that they are allowed to do this over and again. My respect for President Obama grows every single day.

I wish there was a way that republican idiots and hate-mongers could be voted out of office NOW – I don’t know if I am the only one who is impatient

Yes, global, but this gives us time to marshal our forces and get good candidates. We need strong opponents to these guys and we need massive organizing to boot them all out. We are working against enormous forces of inertia in mid year elections, which means we have to try twice as hard as we do in presidential years. Meantime, we have local elections to win and governorships in VA and NJ.

Up and at ‘em all yous O’s!!!! What a great getting up day in TODville again, right?

So I wonder if the ‘pubs will hold town hall meetings while they’re home for the summer break? Don’t think so, the last thing they want us to see is the TeaBag vs RINO vs Libertarian fights of the century. It’s rival the WWF nighttime fiascos. Imagine a tag team of Ron Paul the Pounder in one corner, Cruz the Crazy in another corner, Rip ‘em Rubio in a corner, and Big Daddy Crush Christie who sends them all flying out ring with one single bounce onto the mat.

Cesca has a great column today on the aftermath of the Manning verdict. I am only posting the very end, but the whole thing is worth a read.

Reality is an inconvenient thing when you’re constructing a radical, histrionic agenda that paints Obama as an enemy of the free peoples of the United States. Sorry, Mr. Greenwald, there is no “war on whistleblowers.” There’s only the rule of law.

To that point, Manning and Snowden aren’t considered enemies of the state because Obama wants to institute martial law or to seize unaccountable executive power or to form a new American Stasi. Manning and Snowden violated a stack of laws. Snowden fled the country and has threatened to release documents that could “cause [more] harm to the U.S. government in a single minute than any other person has ever had.” These are actionable trespasses, and they don’t deserve to be pardoned just because a debate was ignited or because Greenwald thinks these men are the victims of an unjust war.

It should also be noted, that the charges actually related to real whistle-blowing, such as the release of the helicopter video, were charges for which Manning was acquitted because they were, well, actual whistleblowing. The rest wasn’t.
