This is the hardest working President ever!
That “Do Nothing Congress” should be ashamed of their lazy asses. This man is doing everything he can to keep this country afloat and they are probably planning their own little “secret summit” sponsored by the KKKoch bros. to regroup and plan their next dastardly strategy.
I really hope PBO and the family enjoy their vacation this year without any distractions.
Thank you, Mr. President for caring when the GOP and the GOP could not give a damn.
They repeal our National Health Care for the 40th time and go on vacation…….do they really think this shit is funny?
I wil be laughing all the way to the voting booth in 2014 to get their asses on permanent vacations!

[OT & just random stuff from NYC!]:

Photos of a small dead shark casually hanging out on the N train went viral this morning after Gothamist posted a gallery of them. According to witnesses, the shark was discovered around 12 a.m. when a passenger boarded the Queens-bound N train at 34th St. […..]

[…..] Whoever did this: not cool. Sharks may not be mammals and they may be capable of tearing you limb from limb, but no living thing deserves to be left on the N train to die. At least it wasn’t the G?

Update: The Discovery Channel has denied this is a Shark Week viral marketing scheme, so at least there’s that.

UT, I knew you would come through with this magnificent summary. You are the hardest working, most gifted person I’ve seen in some time. And everything you do at TOD is probably a small side gig for you. I really believe that you can be anything you choose to be. I wish PBO knew what a magnificent supporter he has in you. Once again, he was right on point and perfect in his remark to the Marines. I hope all of them appreciate what a truly fine Commander in Chief they have.

UT, I have said it before, and I will continue to say how grateful I am to be a part of such a very brilliant TOD family. I have told many who watch out for our wonderful and brilliant President to keep visiting and taking in all of the love and brilliant minds to keep the support that he so much loves and appreciates. Believe me, he does know how committed Chips and our family is to keeping up the beautiful support for him. He really does live off of our love, caring deeds, and dedication of positive and factual support. It gives him a lift that keeps him standing.

I so appreciate UT. I marvel at how you keep up with POB’s speeches on twitter with your tweets as he is speaking. Those tweets keep us update on the speech when some of us are slow in composing tweets from his speech. TY, TY so much, UT.

Your posts are so informative ,and I know that Chips appreciates you and all of the TOD contributors. ((((((((( I am so grateful as well)))))HZ

Not Sure if this has been posted here yet or not, but its a good clip of the Ed Show (not always my favorite) but he does a good job here of drawing contrasts between Minny and our surrounding red states. as someone living in MPLS, i can tell you how good it feels ot live in a state moving foward and working with our president to expand healthcare, education and opportunity for all. hopefully the red states next door will come around here in 2014.

BIG NEWS (though not surprising news):

Our President will speak at the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s historic and unparalleled “I Have a Dream Speech.:

“WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama will speak later this month at a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.

The White House says the Aug. 28 speech will be delivered during the Let Freedom Ring ceremony on the Lincoln Memorial steps.”

Well, with a WARRANT there is. Does Van Jones think there are no criminals in the U.S.? Has he watched any recent crime show? NOTHING is solved without surveillance and phone records.

Every once in awhile,Van Jones is the man he should be. But it’s not often enough for me to give him any of my time.

When did Van Jones become President of the US with access to all of the classified information seen by President Obama? When he run for President, win and gain access to all of that information, I will listen to him. Until then, he should STFU. He has really disappointed me.

Thank you for this, COS. That is and always will be my complete thinking. These are “side sitters of negative motions in their movements.”
These are the people who will always disappoint the masses of goodness in others.

While the ‘masses of good hearts are putting their feet to walking a mile to help a situation become better; while hearts that are so grateful and full of works that will move the masses to do good and hard work in difficult time, rather than sit and complain all of the time; and those who possess hearts that will allow their actions to speak the goodness from their hearts to move another person in need of encouragement to a better place and not looking for any payment or reward, these are the men and women who will move this nation to a better place so all people can see a little hope in our goodness.

This is when our better angels shine bright for the world to see and say, “Wow, now that is the America that I want to be a part of in my lifetime. And thanks to a President who is giving his all to help those of us who want to work with him and Not against him. That is really Hope that I Can Believe In and Hope In With All of my Being.HZ

        • August 7, 2013 at 6:34 pm

          Wow.

Cable news has the same effect on some DC “aides” as the Senate has on most Senators (look in the mirror and see a future President).

I distrust these former aides who act like they’re on the inside, when they have no idea how many balls PBO juggles every day.

There’s nothing wrong in being loyal to a good man. I think David Plouffe and Austan Goolsbee are loyal. I would be absolutely shocked if I saw something like this come from them.

    [Good Grief!]:

A lily-white Ohio suburb is doing everything it can, including risking millions in federal highway funding, to keep mostly minority bus-riders from a nearby city from entering their community.

The showdown began in 2010 when the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority proposed adding three new bus stops in Beavercreek, a largely white suburb 15 minutes east of Dayton. These new stops would give Dayton bus-riders access to Beavercreek’s major shopping mall and nearby businesses, as well as a medical clinic and Wright State University.

Facing the prospect of buses coming in from Dayton, the Beavercreek City Council began enacting as many hurdles as they could to stop the new bus stops. Among the dozen roadblocks included mandating that bus shelters included heated and air conditioning as well as high-tech surveillance cameras, features that would be hugely expensive and are not common at other stops. Unsurprisingly, these demands couldn’t be met and the council rejected the expansion. “We turned downed an application because they didn’t meet our (design) criteria,” Beavercreek City Councilman Scott Hadley explained to Eye On Ohio.

Yardarm, I feel the same way as you do. And not only about Issa but also about Rohrabacher. Sadly, part of Camp Pendleton is his Congressional district. At least my Congressional Rep., Susan Davis, was there to offer some shield to the President from these two vile men. Dana Rohrabacher’s Congressional district borders that of Darrell Issa. The two men are probably the most extreme right wingers in Congress from our blue CA. Susan Davis, however, is staunch Democrat who is a strong supporter of the President.

    [From Booman]:

[…..] In any case, Mr. Douthat makes a very fundamental and basically offensive mistake when he equates the Democrats’ change of strategy (they no longer work very hard to get the “downscale” white vote) with complicity in the racial polarization of the electorate. It pains me even to have to say it again, but it’s been a mantra on the left for eons that white working class voters are convinced to vote against their own economic interests by appeals to social, religious, and racial values and resentments. That’s what the War on Christmas, Welfare Queens, and the Food Stamp President are all about. It’s what Fox News serves for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and midnight snack. The Democrats are not abandoning lower class whites when they offer them subsidies to buy health care or build a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to protect them against rapacious lenders and fraudsters. In the sense that Democrats are abandoning white lower class voters, it’s only in the sense that they are no longer willing to pander to their racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and hawkish militant nationalism. It’s too much work to deprogram folks who have been marinating in hate radio and Fox News, and it is no longer necessary.

The truth is, the Democratic Party’s reliance on the votes of downtrodden people of color guarantees that they will pursue policies that are helpful to downtrodden whites. In economic terms, there is no color in policies that help people afford health care or avoid getting ripped off. That’s why Douthat has to talk about coal and social issues to make his point. […..]

n our colleague Jerry Markon’s interview with Lon Snowden, the father of NSA leaker Edward Snowden, the senior Snowden says it was the sequester that led his son to take the private-sector contracting job that allowed him access to the secret NSA data that he would ultimately make public.

“Edward has said he took his final government contracting job with Booz Allen Hamilton in Hawaii to gain access to sensitive NSA information,” Markon reports. “But his father said Edward told him that his previous contracting job had been eliminated because of the federal budget sequestration.”

This whole situation is hilarious. A white high school drop out/law-beraker is America’s hero. Excuse me while I laugh my head off. And how short-sighted off Putin to grant asylum to Snowden when he had a half-way decent working relationship with PBO. Now that’s gone. Fools galore.

This would be hilarious if it weren’t so disturbing at the same time. I turned my TV on ABC’s 6PM news only to be greeted with that fool (Snowden)’s face plastered all over reports of PBO cancelling his meeting with Putin. That the the US media constantly seeks to elevate effete white grifters at the expense of the first Black President is not lost on me.

First it was Sarah Palin, then came along Michele Bachmann. Now it’s Edward Snowden. May he meet the same fate of scorn and obscurity as the other two – because he deserves it. If anyone believes that a Black HS dropout going against any of the previous Presidents would be given a smidgen of legitimate air time on even the least watched cable news program – they are completely out of touch with reality.

Snowden has lost everything hf – the two dingbat ladies can live in their country and grift for their millions – Snowden is not able to go anywhere, do anything – despite what his father says, what Putin says and what the US media says. Whoever talked Snowden into putting his fantasy into action was doing him much harm.

They really do have the talk but never the walk. In 6 years the GOP has ripped apart the American dream like no-one before them could ever achieve. One black President and they would work towards the demise of their country to the exclusion of everything else.

        Theo67, yes they are.

I often pray and think out loud, “Almighty, please let me always seek a courage to see the truth of things: to please allow me to seek courage to do the right things; and the wisdom to always to give my spirit a constant look upon my North Star and walk what I speak.”

Please let me take a longer wait in my quiet space Almighty, and take in the sweet fragrance of the goodness when I think upon goodness, faith, and courage to be true to self and to respect others by living with and for them in truth. This I see in our President and our VP,. and that is why I humbly take the time to pray for him and VP Biden and the administration to see truth and act upon it; to see courage and feel an obligation to walk to it and not around it; and always make sure to the best of their ability, make sure the dust of the naysayers, and the stiff necked, and hard hearts do not settle in POB’s and VP Biden’s heart and cloud their conscience to do right for all people.

This is my prayer for a President that we were honored to elect and re-elect to serve the people of this nation. TOD Family, Linger a little longer in your quiet time of prayer and meditation in whatever calm and private belief or non-belief that you keep close in your lives daily.
Our President of these United States, our men and women in our mighty military need our thoughts, prayers and meditations to guide them and keep them as safe as possible in these times.

Lift up their families as well, because they give us so much each and everyday. We will speak out to the world how the Congress has not always sought the truth; sought courage and do the right things for our military families; and have thrown out constantly a very tainted set of principles that hold no good values of goodness, faithfulness, truthfulness, and loving hearts, and sweet and loving spirits that will support this brilliant, capable, and loving man, our beloved President. HZ,
I think you will appreciate this, I attended a seminar this past Sunday and I am planning on attending tonight as well:

I feel peace and I feel light.
          Blessings to you, HZ
          Namaste

“Rep. John Lewis says Snowden like Gandhi is appealing to a higher law.”

I am dam shock Rep. Lewis would say something like that, but as much respect as I have for what he did toward civil rights, I disagree with John Lewis 100%.

Honestly…..I read that today and a tear ran down my checks.

GG was comparing Snowden to MLK, Rosa Parks, etc.

Now John Lewis is comparing Snowden to Gandhi? Excuse me? Totally crude and fatuously phrased. This is how Dems fail in messaging. Supporting Snowden is John Lewis’ right. Using false comparison is truly insulting.
