Pete Souza: Pres Obama and Jay Leno during a break between segments from tonight’s show
Howdy, have you had fun at Lizzie’s expense yet?
Report: Liz Cheney Received State Fishing License Based On Inaccurate Residency Claim | TPM LiveWire livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/report-l…— MΛЯGIΣ (@paeznyc) August 06, 2013
Congrats, Carol Mae. The Cheneys can’t help but lie their ***** off, can they?
We Wyomingites take our Residency seriously when it comes to hunting and fishing licenses. :raz:
Must be two zz’s.
Oh please, that witch Cheney woman. Yuke.
Not many enthused about her. A Republican primary that fun to watch. Not because I like Enzi, but I like seeing Lizzie loose.
Spawn of Satan; creepy smile too.
Yes and yes!
Awww… can’t wait to hear it!
I think I’m first.
I actually came in 3rd. Congrats, Carolmay.
Thank you Sjterrid. I didn’t expect to be.
I got an email about the Leno thread. There were no comments when I posted.
That’s how I saw it too. I think we’re on rotation for the emails going out. Sometimes I’ll get an email and bring the thread up and 20 others have posted and then once in a while I’m first. I’m first.
Have my recorder set.
PBO did a great job using the house example when talking about infrastructure building.
He sure did, if people just listen and realize that all the blame for this economy not being stronger lies with the Republican Party. And 2014 we need to kick their sorry butts out.
Hi lisa. Hope you are doing fine. Good to see you. Yes, I thought he made it simple and to the point. I love our president. The Best Ever!!
Watched Lawrence interview Jay Leno tonight. Jay seems to really like the president.
CarolMaeWY, I came away with the same thoughts about Jay Leno tonight. I felt that Jay really did appreciate the president. Jay seem to be more relaxed and asked important questions. I like it when the late night hosts show President Obama respect as the President of the United States. Jay has not always been my favorites, but there was something that was very special about Jay tonight.HZ
I so agree HZ. Did you sneak down and see him?
Thank you very much, Mr. President, for letting us hear from you during your beautiful appearance on Jay Leno’s show. You were masterful, as usual.
Hey, Jay, next time: let’s go into overtime! I could listen to this man all night!
P.S. The Beast!!!!!!
Yeah right, you’d listen all night!
PBO gave Jay a model of The Beast. Jay said:”I assume the real one will be in my garage.”
Hahahahahahahahahahhahhahahahahahahaha! Okay, Jay.
2017 Jay can have the Beast.
Leno asked great questions…..nothing gotcha….loved it….PBO looked very good..I love watching him…..can I say that I love My President…
heading to bed….nite everyone
It hasn’t started here yet. One more minute. . .
That was a great interview with on Leno’s show.
I’ll try again; PBO’s interview on Leno’s show was great.
And one of the main reasons, as Jay explained in the interview with Lawrence: I let people finish their replies to my questions – and *no* gotcha questions …
No wonder the President likes to come to his show.
Also, very good of Jay: Most people are basically decent (you can’t have country otherwise – need too much police) – and they see someone decent in the President who isn’t in it for his own good, but for the good of others.
Night all… have to get on a “back to work” schedule. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. No more late weeknights for me. Set the DVR for Leno. Can’t wait to watch. Bet his ratings will be through the roof for this one.
See you all in the am…bright and early!
Set the DVR and don’t let it bite.
Enjoy school. . .

You had already said goodnight. . . Hoped you’d see it in the morning. Disappointed you didn’t get to go see Pres. Obama.
I had a great time with President @BarackObama and my old friend @JayLeno at The Tonight Show! Tune in to see us 2nite! XO!— Patti LaBelle (@MsPattiPatti) August 07, 2013
Thanks for keeping TOD rolling along UT. You must be putting in long days. Huge thank you.
You are welcome. Thank you for the kind and positive feedback. Very much appreciated.
The very least I can contribute.
You are such a fine person, UT. Thank you for all you do!!!
PBO adorable and so appealing——plus plus plus
That’s why the MSM gets mad/anxious whenever he goes on any of those shows, and talks directly to the people….
The reason I like POTUS going on shows like tonight is he is allow to get his message out. And tonight he did just that.
He shows himself as the reasonable guy, the one who is willing to work with the Republicans, the one who is fighting for the middle class and those trying to reach the middle class.
The President is just too damn likeable. Great interview @jayleno #LenoAskObama— AAmom (@AVD911) August 07, 2013
Good night all. Be Bless.
You, too, anniebella! Sweet dreams.

You guys should throw up “spoiler alert” so us west coast folks won’t read your comments about Jay & POTUS. I’m gonna forget the snippet I saw so the feed will be fresh to me.
Oh, great, things aren’t going too well in the city of Trenton, NJ, where I was born and lived near, most of my life.
Gov. Christie’s actions on not responding to Trenton’s requests for additional funds for public safety aren’t helping, not to mention a mayor who’s under federal indictment and soon to face those charges.
Christie showing his true colors?
But of course.
For some reason the pic Yardarm posted of the elephant popped into my head.
Christie just doing his republican duty. Fucking over the little guys as much as possible while pretending to be a moderate.
The GOP Bait and Switch!
Anniebella, you are so right!
That is what the GOP media hates. He has his way of getting to the American people and that pisses them off!

What is it with Rachel and the FBI and the shooting case in Florida supposedly tied into the Boston bombings? Every time I catch a minute or two of her show she is talking about it.
Joy Reid, Lawrence O’Donnell and Rev. Al are the only ones on MSNBC that I watch regular, if I don’t forget I watch Ed on the week-ends.
At time Rachel can be sickening, with her know it all I’m right self.
Yes, me too, but I catch a minute or two occasionally.
Yep! She’s been pretty irritating recently. I always click off when she gets on these tirades, also when I see Rather and Mitchell. I’m not sure I trust her.
I don’t, Eve, because on some issues, she’s too wishy washy. I guess it’s the GA in me. I tend to be very skeptical of people who aren’t consistent about certain things. RM pissed me off when she unfairly attacked the president on gay marriage because he didn’t go to NY. Just imagine what would have happened had he shown up in NY. The RW would have attacked him restlessly and screamed about states’ rights, making everyone wish they’d shut up already. I expect to see them attack him for appearing on Leno’s show as early as tomorrow.
More important than that, it was a delicate, carefully crafted deal in the NY legislature for marriage equality – they needed some Republicans and yes, there was a great deal of horse trading going on to get these Republicans on board. It’s unconscionable that Rachel Maddow does not understand that her priorities are not the only considerations of a state legislature. And had PBO gone, that carefully crafted deal would have evaporated, and there would have been NO marriage equality in NY. So who was doing the best thing for her issue? PBO!
I know, I usually just catch it when I want to watch Lawrence. I used to like her.
sometimes I get the impression that she believes she is smarter and has more morals than PBO – pompous person
FYI – she is a pompous person
Yet another day ….
Another day of #PBO striving to help all Americans while #KOCHSTER domestic terrorists (aka #GOP) continue their efforts to wreck the USA.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) August 07, 2013
…. for which every thoughtful, empathetic, truly American person should be forever grateful that our President is Barack Obama, a ‘community organizer’ of extraordinary skill and soul.
#LandSlideDEMS2014 – WE OWE IT TO PBO!!!!
time for some rest …
Well deserved rest, Mr. Bobfr a/k/a Tweet Master!
Anyone besides me ever go and look at the prof left comments for shits and giggles? Of course they tend to piss me off and I can’t read them much longer than 1 minute but some masochistic tendency makes me keep coming back.
“Graduated” from doing that a long while back – too funky for my health (may be I could reconsider WHEN my ObamaCare kicks in

I’m a day ahead. I thought today was 8th.
We have a lot of work to do to counter the negativity being spread about ACA aka ObamaCare.
There is a huge section of the media that is determined to pump negative stories about ObamaCare enrollment which we need to balance with promoting positive stories
as usual MSM is helping gop pump out negative stories about #ACA; hyperventilating of pending #ObamaCare "failure" reminds 1 of Y2K fuss— Linda Kyambadde (@globalcitizenln) August 07, 2013
If you are like me and slept through the Presidents appearance on Leno you can see all the clips here:
And PBO was GREAT
Thanks! Needed the first parts! Was waiting for this!
PBO wa great…as he always is in these situations…
ps…i love how he just strides onto the stage….smilin
Thanks donna! I missed it too! Dagnabit!!
Can’t wait to watch the whole thing!
Thanks, Donna! Have emailed to my contacts; and will tweet/fb. Thanks again.

Huge fire at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kenya’s main international airport. Airport closed:
Ah..the MSM loves to spread the false rumor that PBO canceled talks with Putin over Snowden. By making it about Snowden, they elevate that stupid little moron, and avoid talking about the REAL reason PBO canceled talks with Putin – which are Putin’s horrific policies agains human rights’ activists and stubborn anti-gay positions.
But MSM wants us to think that PBO is just mad about a stupid leaker….while carefully not mentioning all the crap that is going on in Putin’s Russia…..
PBO mentioned the human rights and anti gay positions of Putin on Leno…
Well howdy doody all youse O’s!!!!! what a great getting up day in TODdy town, eh? So I heard that PBO was on TV with JZ. Oh wait…..
Just kidding. My plan was to fix myself a late night snack and munch on it in bed while I watched Lawrence and his interview with Jay Leno. Then, I was going to watch PBO on Leno’s show. Well, needless to say, the last thing I remember was Lawrence asking Leno about his political affiliation. I was asleep before Leno answered. I woke up this morning with snack crumbs in the bed and my untouched soothing herbal tea on the nightstand. So much for that idea.
Now I’ll have to find the video or hope it’s available on On Demand.
LOL! Too funny! Been there, cookemom!
Hope today works out the way you plan!
I found it by typing “obama leno” into youtube – without the quotes, of course. Both the actual show (though not every minute of it) and Lawrence interview with Leno (which is certainly interesting in its own right, throwing light on his approach to comedy and his show).
Same thing happened to me. I actually did a lot of physical activity yesterday, despite my aches and pains, and it knocked me out.
I think that’s what did me in too. I ran and did a LOT of walking yesterday with #2 for a total of 11 miles. I was lucky that I could even make my way to the bed.
11 miles! Color me impressed. I have back and arthritic hip issues and I can’t takes NSAID’s. I’m trying some folk remedies.
I do research for a living and my husband and I own most of the books that we do the research out of. Yesterday was the day I put those books in order, so I was carrying heavy stacks of books, reaching down on shelves, etc. for 8 straight hours. I felt it, believe me. I thought I would die from the pain.
But my one folk remedy helped and I passed out – yes – trying to watch LOD and missed everything else.
sorry bout your health issues 57. I know what it’s like for you, cookeman has the very same issue and has had both hips replaced. I am truly grateful for my ability to move around at my age. I try to take advantage of that with humility.
I went to visit my 81 year old neighbor today. she had to put her beloved dog to sleep about 5 weeks ago, and her daughter got her a new puppy. I normally think you should grieve for awhile, but she had nothing to do without this beloved dog, and she is embracing the differences of the puppy – finding a new place in her heart.
My point: I wish I had the health and energy this woman has. Up and down off the floor, playing with the puppy. She walks a minimum of 3 miles/day. Today, I’m glad I can get my butt up the bungalow stairs. She is an inspiration.
Have a Beautiful Day Everyone!
Isn't it amazing that a comedian/talk show host can do better job of interviewing President than WHPC? Hope they watched & took notes.— john miller (@deaconmill) August 07, 2013
Wha's the difference between Snowden or Manning and real whistleblowers? A lot. thedailybanter.com/2013/08/the-re…— john miller (@deaconmill) August 07, 2013
To whoever is doing R&S this morning, I defintely recommend including this article.
I also get the impression from the quotes in this article that people too easily skip over what “authorization” means to a systems administrator (of computers) – what Snowden was at Booz Allen.
“Authorization” in this context means nothing else than what a person is “allowed to do” by the computer’s security system – and of course, a systems administrator is god on his machines (that is what the job requires).
It has no relation with “authorization within the law”, which is what this whole discussion about overreach by the NSA is about.
Great article, japa. Cesca has done excellent reporting about this GG/ Snowden stuff.
Morning, all. Another thing about PBO on Leno was the Wildly Enthusiastic audience.
I agree with TOD posters who used to love Rachel but now are alarmend by her guest list which is all too often filled with Andrea Mitchell, Dan Rather, etc.
Chris Matthews mentioned that POTUS has never appeared on any MSNBC show. If that’s right it is not hard to figure out why this is so.
Morning! Slept through my early alarm I’m not going to be late for work, but I like to spend more time with my coffee and computer in the morning…..will have LESS time for that this morning. AH!
Leno was great last night…asked great questions, waited for the answer….you know, regular conversation:) With manners.
Of course the President was terrific. So real and personable. Great job all around.
Have a great school year, df. This is the first school year in which I will be able to sleep through the bell.
Thank you, CEB:) You’ll have withdraw symptoms, I’m sure!! Always look forward to the kids….the school politics, not so much.

What a lovely picture Dudette? Thank you Not.
“Stink Tank” PERFECT!!!
Looks like CNN’s ” Truth about Benghazi ” was jam packed with ” Untruths ”
Linda, I didn’t expect CNN ( TeaNN) to tell the truth about Benghazi. Specially that Erin Burnett, I don’t care for her at all, and we all know that CNN is not the new station it once was, it has sunk mighty low after Ted Turner sold it.
Good morning mates! We’re lagging a bit, eh? Oh well, it’s still good to be alive.
desertflower, Have the White House made a announcement about this?
In a sense, Pope Francis made clear his world views when he wore practical black shoes and a simple black wristwatch to mass – a decidedly more humble look than his predecessor, who sported red leather shoes and a ruby cross.
Then he rocked Twitter when, as @Pontifex handle, he declared: “My thoughts turn to all who are unemployed, often as a result of a self-centered mindset bent on profit at any cost.”
Pope Francis, who became pope in 2013, has since made other comments on world economic issues, citing the pitfalls of capitalism, decrying global income inequality and equating low-wage labor to a form of “slavery.”
He’s even described the financial corruption in the church as a “spiritual sickness.”
Analysts say Pope Francis—leader of some 1.2 billion Catholics—is not necessarily calling for the demise of free market theory. Rather, he’s issuing a strong warning to economic leaders.
“Like many people, he thinks capitalism won’t survive unless it decreases income disparity,” said George Haley, professor of marketing and international business at the University of New Haven.
Well…if people don’t want to listen to PBO, maybe they’ll listen to the Pope!
I am liking this dude more and more. Guess coming from a non-european country gives him a sense of real world out there.
Me too….seems to have a real sense of decency and common sense.
Me, too, amk. I’m likin’ Pope Frankie (as I like to call him!).
Rise and Shine.
