He sure did, if people just listen and realize that all the blame for this economy not being stronger lies with the Republican Party. And 2014 we need to kick their sorry butts out.

CarolMaeWY, I came away with the same thoughts about Jay Leno tonight. I felt that Jay really did appreciate the president. Jay seem to be more relaxed and asked important questions. I like it when the late night hosts show President Obama respect as the President of the United States. Jay has not always been my favorites, but there was something that was very special about Jay tonight.HZ

Thank you very much, Mr. President, for letting us hear from you during your beautiful appearance on Jay Leno’s show. You were masterful, as usual.

Hey, Jay, next time: let’s go into overtime! I could listen to this man all night!

    P.S. The Beast!!!!!!

PBO gave Jay a model of The Beast. Jay said:”I assume the real one will be in my garage.”
    Hahahahahahahahahahhahhahahahahahahaha! Okay, Jay.

I’ll try again; PBO’s interview on Leno’s show was great.

      • August 7, 2013 at 8:21 am

And one of the main reasons, as Jay explained in the interview with Lawrence: I let people finish their replies to my questions – and *no* gotcha questions …

No wonder the President likes to come to his show.

Also, very good of Jay: Most people are basically decent (you can’t have country otherwise – need too much police) – and they see someone decent in the President who isn’t in it for his own good, but for the good of others.

Oh, great, things aren’t going too well in the city of Trenton, NJ, where I was born and lived near, most of my life.

Gov. Christie’s actions on not responding to Trenton’s requests for additional funds for public safety aren’t helping, not to mention a mayor who’s under federal indictment and soon to face those charges.

Yep! She’s been pretty irritating recently. I always click off when she gets on these tirades, also when I see Rather and Mitchell. I’m not sure I trust her.

    • August 7, 2013 at 2:16 am

I don’t, Eve, because on some issues, she’s too wishy washy. I guess it’s the GA in me. I tend to be very skeptical of people who aren’t consistent about certain things. RM pissed me off when she unfairly attacked the president on gay marriage because he didn’t go to NY. Just imagine what would have happened had he shown up in NY. The RW would have attacked him restlessly and screamed about states’ rights, making everyone wish they’d shut up already. I expect to see them attack him for appearing on Leno’s show as early as tomorrow.

      • 69 57andfemale
        August 7, 2013 at 8:04 am

More important than that, it was a delicate, carefully crafted deal in the NY legislature for marriage equality – they needed some Republicans and yes, there was a great deal of horse trading going on to get these Republicans on board. It’s unconscionable that Rachel Maddow does not understand that her priorities are not the only considerations of a state legislature. And had PBO gone, that carefully crafted deal would have evaporated, and there would have been NO marriage equality in NY. So who was doing the best thing for her issue? PBO!

There is a huge section of the media that is determined to pump negative stories about ObamaCare enrollment which we need to balance with promoting positive stories

Ah..the MSM loves to spread the false rumor that PBO canceled talks with Putin over Snowden. By making it about Snowden, they elevate that stupid little moron, and avoid talking about the REAL reason PBO canceled talks with Putin – which are Putin’s horrific policies agains human rights’ activists and stubborn anti-gay positions.

But MSM wants us to think that PBO is just mad about a stupid leaker….while carefully not mentioning all the crap that is going on in Putin’s Russia…..

  44. August 7, 2013 at 9:23 am

Well howdy doody all youse O’s!!!!! what a great getting up day in TODdy town, eh? So I heard that PBO was on TV with JZ. Oh wait…..

Just kidding. My plan was to fix myself a late night snack and munch on it in bed while I watched Lawrence and his interview with Jay Leno. Then, I was going to watch PBO on Leno’s show. Well, needless to say, the last thing I remember was Lawrence asking Leno about his political affiliation. I was asleep before Leno answered. I woke up this morning with snack crumbs in the bed and my untouched soothing herbal tea on the nightstand. So much for that idea.

Now I’ll have to find the video or hope it’s available on On Demand.

I found it by typing “obama leno” into youtube – without the quotes, of course. Both the actual show (though not every minute of it) and Lawrence interview with Leno (which is certainly interesting in its own right, throwing light on his approach to comedy and his show).

I think that’s what did me in too. I ran and did a LOT of walking yesterday with #2 for a total of 11 miles. I was lucky that I could even make my way to the bed.

11 miles! Color me impressed. I have back and arthritic hip issues and I can’t takes NSAID’s. I’m trying some folk remedies.

I do research for a living and my husband and I own most of the books that we do the research out of. Yesterday was the day I put those books in order, so I was carrying heavy stacks of books, reaching down on shelves, etc. for 8 straight hours. I felt it, believe me. I thought I would die from the pain.

But my one folk remedy helped and I passed out – yes – trying to watch LOD and missed everything else.

I went to visit my 81 year old neighbor today. she had to put her beloved dog to sleep about 5 weeks ago, and her daughter got her a new puppy. I normally think you should grieve for awhile, but she had nothing to do without this beloved dog, and she is embracing the differences of the puppy – finding a new place in her heart.

My point: I wish I had the health and energy this woman has. Up and down off the floor, playing with the puppy. She walks a minimum of 3 miles/day. Today, I’m glad I can get my butt up the bungalow stairs. She is an inspiration.

To whoever is doing R&S this morning, I defintely recommend including this article.

      • August 7, 2013 at 9:44 am

        Definitely.

I also get the impression from the quotes in this article that people too easily skip over what “authorization” means to a systems administrator (of computers) – what Snowden was at Booz Allen.

“Authorization” in this context means nothing else than what a person is “allowed to do” by the computer’s security system – and of course, a systems administrator is god on his machines (that is what the job requires).

It has no relation with “authorization within the law”, which is what this whole discussion about overreach by the NSA is about.

Morning, all. Another thing about PBO on Leno was the Wildly Enthusiastic audience.

I agree with TOD posters who used to love Rachel but now are alarmend by her guest list which is all too often filled with Andrea Mitchell, Dan Rather, etc.

Chris Matthews mentioned that POTUS has never appeared on any MSNBC show. If that’s right it is not hard to figure out why this is so.

    http://www.nbcnews.com/business/pope-world-economy-he-market-friendly-or-rebel-6C10860679

In a sense, Pope Francis made clear his world views when he wore practical black shoes and a simple black wristwatch to mass – a decidedly more humble look than his predecessor, who sported red leather shoes and a ruby cross.

Then he rocked Twitter when, as @Pontifex handle, he declared: “My thoughts turn to all who are unemployed, often as a result of a self-centered mindset bent on profit at any cost.”

Pope Francis, who became pope in 2013, has since made other comments on world economic issues, citing the pitfalls of capitalism, decrying global income inequality and equating low-wage labor to a form of “slavery.”

He’s even described the financial corruption in the church as a “spiritual sickness.”

Analysts say Pope Francis—leader of some 1.2 billion Catholics—is not necessarily calling for the demise of free market theory. Rather, he’s issuing a strong warning to economic leaders.

“Like many people, he thinks capitalism won’t survive unless it decreases income disparity,” said George Haley, professor of marketing and international business at the University of New Haven.

Well…if people don’t want to listen to PBO, maybe they’ll listen to the Pope!
