Good morning Allison! Congrats on #1. Beat me by a nose! I’ve come to the conclusion that the WHP is a propaganda arm of the Republican party.

        Thanks, Nathkatun7.

I’m not looking forward to the press conference this afternoon (except seeing Pres Obama). I am so disgusted with their stupid questions.

Good point, Allison. But our president will live every day to the fullest, probably read a few great books, come back energized and full of a renewed commitment to our nation’s problems. Congress will spend the time being beaten about the head by malcontents, raising money and running around trying to keep their lies straight. The will come back just as narrow-minded and as unable to govern as the were before they left.

Maybe they will soften up if enough actual caring people like us show up at their town halls and public events and verbally pound them for wasting taxpayer money on Obamacare repeals, refusing to help the U.S. economy, and caring only for the rich and corporations.

I beg to differ! My Dad was a Leo-same birthdate as President Obama and he absolutely had no ego. I am of course biased because I still regard him as the most honest, courageous, and the wisest person I’ve ever known. So Happy early birthday to our Leo leader who exhibits the same qualities as my Dad and President Obama.

Has anyone else seen this push by the media to divide white and black NYC Democrats by insisting that black voters are more supportive of both Spitzer and Weiner? The was a story in the WaPo a while back making similar claims with polls that did not show significant numbers. I think the aim is to show that when it comes to morals black voters have a low bar. I personally believe it’s more about name recognition.

Though Anthony Weiner when he first ran for city council, if I recall tried to claim that, Adele Cohen the favorite, was somehow tied to the single civil rights “agenda” of Jesse Jackson and David Dinkins so that he would discourage his predominantly white district from voting for her. Many claim that is how he won the race, so I don’t see how he would be a particular favorite of any group.

Article is nonsense. Wall Street does not want any more game playing concerning the debt limit. That is why the GOP blinked during the last debt ceiling showdown and that is why they will blink this time too. They don’t want another downgrading of US by rating agencies (would mean end of cheap money Wall Street thrives on). GOP will talk tough, but cave once again.

Howdy doody to all my O peeps!!! Wassup on this great getting up day in TODdytown?

Mitch McBobbleThingy is not too bright. He hires Rand Paul’s former campaign manager, even though the granddaughter of Ron Paul is married to that Bevin guy, McUhOh’s opponent. The Pauls have infiltrated McDoodleHopper’s campaign. Poor guy, Rand endorses him so he thinks the Pauls really, really, like him. Imho, Rand endorsed him to keep his enemy closer.

Howdy, Cookem, are you referring to McTurtle? Heck, he’s not even one bright, much more ‘too’! I sure hope Lundergan Grimes hands him his lunch on his way out, and his shoes! Only you here would understand how much I despise that man although I haven’t met him. The very thought of him sticking his neck out so early in the President’s term and talking about his single, most important priority is enough to make me want to crush him under the heels of my shoes.

There’s something going on with seniors: It is now strikingly clear that they have turned sharply against the GOP. This is apparent in seniors’ party affiliation and vote intention, in their views on the Republican Party and its leaders, and in their surprising positions on jobs, health care, retirement security, investment economics, and the other big issues that will likely define the 2014 midterm elections.

We first noticed a shift among seniors early in the summer of 2011, as Paul Ryan’s plan to privatize Medicare became widely known (and despised) among those at or nearing retirement. Since then, the Republican Party has come to be defined by much more than its desire to dismantle Medicare. To voters from the center right to the far left, the GOP is now defined by resistance, intolerance, intransigence, and economics that would make even the Robber Barons blush. We have seen other voters pull back from the GOP, but among no group has this shift been as sharp as it is among senior citizens:

Rest at the link….can’t happen fast enough for me!

      August 9, 2013 at 10:03 am

What do seniors care about now? Our Democracy Corps July National Survey found that:

—89 percent of seniors want to protect Medicare benefits and premiums.

—87 percent of seniors want to raise pay for working women.

—79 percent of seniors think we need to expand scholarships for working adults.

—77 percent of seniors want to expand access to high-quality and affordable childcare for working parents.

—74 percent of seniors want to cut subsidies to big oil companies, agribusinesses, and multinational corporations in order to invest in education, infrastructure, and technology.

—66 percent of seniors want to expand state health insurance exchanges under Obamacare.

All of these issues will be critical to the national debate as the 2014 election nears. The more seniors hear from Republicans on these and other issues, the more we can expect the GOP’s advantage among this important group to decline. And we can count on one thing in 2014: Seniors will vote.

HEADLINE: Meet Ted Cruz, “The Republican Barack Obama”

// The tea party wonder boy is sweeping the GOP establishment off its feet. Come January, he could turn the Senate upside down….No member of the 113th Congress will arrive in Washington with as much hype as Cruz, who in late July survived one of the most expensive primaries in Texas history to knock off Gov. Rick Perry’s second-in-command, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. George Will calls Cruz, the Princeton- and Harvard Law School-educated son of a former Cuban revolutionary, “as good as it gets”; National Review dubbed him “the next great conservative hope,” gushing that “Cruz is to public speaking what Michael Phelps was to swimming.” Political strategist Mark McKinnon channeled the thinking of many in the party when he proclaimed Cruz “the Republican Barack Obama.” He is, with apologies to fellow Cuban American Marco Rubio, the up-and-comer du jour of the conservative movement. //

ROTFLMAO!!!! This is the funniest article I’ve read in quite some time…

“The tea party wonder boy is sweeping the GOP establishment off its feet. Come January, he could turn the Senate upside down.’

This ‘caption’ from the above article, published Nov/Dec of 2012, expressed a dream. Cruz has certainly tried to ‘turn the Senate upside down’, but what he has accomplished to date IMO is to reveal that he isn’t as bright as his Princeton & Harvard degrees would imply. Listening to Cruz when he was spouting off in the past months made me cringe that Harvard produced the likes of him….and Mitt. Doesn’t really impress Harvard’s greatness on *my* mind.

I wonder if ‘dumb’ guys like these had to pay more for their degrees? I mean, is there a special Harvard path for the children of the privileged that eases them through for an endowment or two? Of course, it’s not just Harvard. I still wonder how Michele Bachmann, for example, got her degree.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Joe McCarthy look-alike, Senator Cruz, ineligible because he was born in Canada? His Cuban dad once fought for Fidel Castro (since claiming he didn’t know Castro was a communist), and later fled to the U.S. (undocumented?? immigrant??). Cruz in no way resembles President Obama. He’s a nasty piece of work! Ironic that he’s gumming up progress on immigration reform considering the family history,

Good morning all. I am getting prepared for Chip’s R&S to show up about noon ish. Not that it matters. Personally, I would like a day where I would Rise, though not necessarily Shine, at noon.

A beautiful day in Chitown today and as a bonus it is Friday. After today just 2 more work weeks before the Mrs (sorry Chips) and I finally get our honeymoon after 39 years. Of course, actually having to spend 10 days together may create a situation in which Chip’s dream comes true.

Boss is out today, so I expect I will spend a little more time here than usual.

I wish you a very happy honeymoon Japa. Well, happy-ish.
