Uncle POTUS regularly shows that he has made truly wise choices in the members of his administration. No question we got us a leader we can trust to do what is right for the country! As Bobfr often says #TrustBarack, he knows what he’s doing.

    http://news.yahoo.com/us-budget-deficit-down-37-6-percent-july-180033622.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

The government has reported a $97.6 billion deficit for July but remains on track to post its lowest annual budget gap in five years.

July’s figure raises the deficit so far for the 2013 budget year to $607.4 billion, the government says. That’s 37.6 percent below the $973.8 billion deficit for the first 10 months of the 2012 budget year.

The Congressional Budget Office forecasts that the annual deficit will be $670 billion when the budget year ends Sept. 30, far below last year’s $1.09 trillion. It would mark the first year that the gap between spending and revenue has been below $1 trillion since 2008.

Steady economic growth, higher taxes, lower government spending and increased dividends from mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have helped shrink the deficit.

But as you know too well, we’re not even close to being done. Every day is a day of action. Every event is one that counts. When you call out climate deniers on Tuesday***, make it count. When you demand action on gun violence prevention on August 21st, make it count.

Count every town hall and rally and phone bank and press conference. Speak up for the policies that you voted for, that you deserve. Demand that your representatives represent you.

One of President Obama’s greatest strengths is that he’s in full control of his ego, which few people can claim. He lets his Attorney General make the announcement concerning the ending of long sentences for non-violent drug offenders. I lesser President would have called a press conference to make such an announcement.

  23. August 12, 2013 at 3:30 pm

    Has this been posted yet?

I have mixed feeling about this. Seems like the rodeo clown is the scapegoat, but from what I heard on the radio, the *rodeo announcers* were the ones egging the the crowd to go after the clown. (Don’t plan to watch the video, if there is one.)

So the actual people responsible for this display of bigotry suffer no consequences, but the one who actually risks his life (as non-masked rodeo clowns do — they serve as distractions for the bulls when rodeo riders get thrown) is out of a job? Seems unfair to me.

          August 12, 2013 at 4:47 pm

Layla, I know there are decent people in Missouri. They need to rise up as one voice and condemn this fair and boycott it next year. The whole ugly mess needs to close down and be reconstituted with new rules of behavior and decency. This country doesn’t need any more Klan meetings, no matter what the venue. It’s not just taxpayer dollars that support fairs, it’s all the hundreds of people who pay for exhibit space and entry fees. A significant mass of Missouri residents needs to demand their money back and vow never again to attend the fair until overtly racist acts are banned. What happened at this rodeo was a disgrace to the state and it will be a scar on the people of Missouri unless they demand change.

I hear you Meta. It’s disgusting and often times painful to see/hear. Nevertheless, one of the things that encourages me is the thought that more and more people seem willing to VOICE their disgust now, more than at other times in history. One by one (yes, that’s still too slow) people are changing. Personally, I like to attribute some of the change to the sterling character, confidence and intelligence of the wonderfully wise leader the American people chose twice in large numbers. Change IS coming and as you say some are being left behind..

      August 12, 2013 at 3:39 pm

Yes, the announcer (who is reportedly a school superintendent and therefore has political clout) was likely part of the orchestrated event. Banning the rodeo clown is symbolic and doesn’t even address the problem – it’s simply a way for the MO State Fair to quickly get rid of the unanticipated negative publicity directed at them instead of the President (as they originally intended). The people who planned this event are the same ones who plan Tea Party “rallies”, racist town halls, etc.

They tried to make this event look spontaneous but don’t be fooled. At the root of all of these recent incidents being reported in the MSM are GOP political operatives, who then try to make themselves look like the “good cops” when they so-call condemn the “racist” acts. The whole think STINKS to high heaven.

Given the initial response of the crowd, I somehow don’t think this ‘clown’ will suffer, certainly not financially. Either they will seriously grease his palm to keep quiet about who put the idea in his head or to pat him on the shoulder for his idea. Failing that, he will blow the whistle for $$$ on those in the upper echelons who encouraged him and now leave him to take the blame. Remember people gave money online for Zimmerman, and for the Alaska Barbie? And didn’t they at one time give funds to Joe the plumber because he was rude to PBO? I truly feel little empathy for him.

    • 87 jackiegrumbacher
      August 12, 2013 at 4:42 pm

Arapaho, agree that the rodeo itself should bear maximum responsibility, but the clown should not be let off the hook. Unless someone held a gun to his head and forced him to wear a PBO mask, then he did this vile thing deliberately and he should be condemned and fired.

      • 88 dotster3
        August 12, 2013 at 5:38 pm

The announcer should be fired from his position with the rodeo. The clown may likely have been performing as directed. The announcer and the rodeo planned and staged this despicable spectacle.

    Fair bans clown…

“Perry Beam, who was among the spectators, said ‘everybody screamed’ and ‘just went wild’ as the announcer talked about having the bull run down the clown with the Obama mask.

“‘It was at that point I began to feel a sense of fear. It was that level of enthusiasm,’ Beam, a 48-year-old musician from Higginsville, said Sunday, referring to the reaction from the crowd that filled the fair’s grandstand.

“He said another clown ran up to the one wearing the Obama mask, pretended to tickle him and played with the lips on the mask. About 15 minutes into the performance, the masked clown had to leave after a bull got too close, Beam said.”

    Beam also said:

“It was the usual until the very end at bull riding. As they were bringing the bulls into the chute and prepping them. … They bring out what looks like a dummy. The announcer says ‘Here’s our Obama dummy, or our dummy of Obama.’ They mentioned the president’s name, I don’t know, 100 times. It was sickening. It was feeling like some kind of Klan rally you’d see on TV.”

It is already being hailed as one of the greatest sports photographs of all time.
As Usain Bolt crossed the line to win the 100m at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow, AFP photographer Olivier Morin was primed and ready in the right place at the right time to take an image which will undoubtedly become the iconic lasting image of the legendary Jamaican’s career.
With thunderstorms gathering around the Luzhniki Stadium, Morin sat in the first row of the photographer’s tribune, set up five remote cameras near the finish line in preparation for athletics’ showpiece race and crossed his fingers that he may be able to catch a lightning strike.

Great, TY, WilT. I hadn’t noticed as I have been flitting in and out of twitter without pausing long enough to read what is being said. I hope they periodically include the link re who the elected deniers are…
