An apple a day….
Gets him a kiss from her!
You have made me hungry.
Congrats! Hope you find some good food Carol.
I’ll have to look pretty hard in this house. I do have some zucchini bread. Thanks.
I’ll feed him anyday
Thanks ut! I love to see a man eat with a hearty appetite.
How did I get here first? Been emailing my cousin about Ancestry most of the day. ;)
Time for me to move to the kitchen and begin preparing dinner especially now that you’ve made me hungrier than I already was, UT. Well Done!!! :D :D :D
Good thing FLOTUS work out POTUS, due he would look like Chris Christie.
Is it just you and me Vetivera? I was writing to my cousin and lost the whole thing. Thought i needed a change of scenery. This is what I was looking up: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/washington/2010-10-11-jfk-george-mcgovern_N.htm
I was there. My uncle took me and I was thrilled to be on his shoulders and Sen. Kennedy actually reached out and touched my hand. I adored Sen. McGovern.
Wow, Carol, what a memory! That was such a time of possibilities. McGovern was a good guy and his wife, Maureen, was just wonderful. It’s too bad he lost so badly. My fervent hope is that we see a Republican get that kind of electoral college loss. Let’s try to make that happen in 2016.
He was such a good man. He was a WWII hero also. Lee Atwater turned out to be Roves idol. Nixon should have never won two terms. I would love to see a Republican can whooped that badly. PBO probably would have if it weren’t for one thing; which makes me sick.
My president GETS IT IN!! when it comes to getting something to eat. He enjoys good food and shows it. I LOVE THAT about him.
ah thanks UT! A great way to end the evening.
Good Nite TOD
I thought this was interesting. He claims to know so much about PBO.
@CarolMaeWY nope but a good thing he did— Jonathan Alter (@jonathanalter) September 01, 2013
He had another tweet I was commenting on. I don’t know ho you get them all to show.
Am a Jonathan Alter fan, for sure.
Me too most of the time. I just feel so burned by all of them.
Thought it was nice of him to reply.
I’m going to try again.
I love his enjoyment of life. He’s not afraid to dig in and take a big bite of something delicious. I feel hungry!!!
I looked a long time at the statement you had up for the previous post and was just thinking how wonderful it is to have a President who is truly moral as well as pragmatic. He is so balanced and sure.
Thanks for creating such a wonderful place to visit.
Yummy, now I am hungry.
Almost went into cardiac arrest when I got a link to this:
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WP) — Upon hearing Obama ask for Congressional approval on Syria, House Speaker John Boehner immediately called Congress back into session, not waiting for the normal session to start on September 9.
“I’m sorry to cut vacation short after only a month. I mean sure, I’d like to have some barbecue and hang out with friends and family over the Labor Day weekend and then spend the week on the couch watching ESPN, but we have a solemn duty here,” Boehner said in an email to members of Congress on Saturday. “And it’s the first order of business. So get on a plane and get back to Washington. We take this up Sunday morning at 9AM sharp.”
Too bad they’re a spoof site. The fact that Boehner sounds so responsible gives it away.
I know. It looked so real and win progress is so new, I thought thinkprogress. I quickly went to my homepage where I list my fav sites and weather, breaking news, etc. they got me. I really haven’t been following news today. LOL
Yes, I know.
HAPPY LABOR DAY EVERYONE……..TAPS!
Obama’s pause on Syria may bring new votes in Europe
LONDON — President Obama’s decision to seek congressional approval for a military strike on Syria could open the door to another vote by the British Parliament, which rejected such intervention, senior officials here suggested Sunday.
French lawmakers also seized on Obama’s decision as an argument for holding their own vote on armed intervention in Syria….
PBO plays the long game and his detractors never seem to catch on. With time to accumulate more evidence, it’s going to make the people who oppose any and all action look questionable as to how they could be OK with standing by, especially the emos who like to get on their high horses about human rights.
Anyone who doesn’t understand the difference between launching a military attack on ginned-up claims that a dictator has WMD versus a controlled strike on someone who has UNDOUBTEDLY killed several thousand people with chemical gases is a fool.
“Anyone who doesn’t understand the difference between launching a military attack on ginned-up claims that a dictator has WMD versus a controlled strike on someone who has UNDOUBTEDLY killed several thousand people with chemical gases is a fool.”
Exactly, Sandy1110! To repeat what I’ve been arguing, the use of chemical weapons, both internally and externally, is outlawed by International Law! The Assad regime in Syria, if it used chemical weapons against both insurgent combatants and innocent civilians, must be held accountable under International Law. For countries to chose to look the other way, and especially the ones that claim to be both democracies and adherents of the rule of law, makes a mockery of the hard fought for International Humanitarian Laws.
well, a second vote on Syria in the UK is something I just speculated on a few hours ago – on the most previous thread.
You could speculate this if people listened clearly to the debate in the House of Commons (which I did) and the US media did not report the full debate (which has a wriggle room based on if the UN had a chance to provide evidence).
It was also a huge possibility once you realized that the vote was based purely on politics of the moment – when it happened I called this the MPs “pulling a GOP ‘no’ on the PM due to election cycle rather than on arguments that would stand the morality test of time
President Obama rendered a “Solomonic” judgment Re: Syria. Practical analysis and thinking from retired Military & Stenographic journos is low level case presentation.
that image of Solomon is the correct one – are governments and people of the world willing to destroy the long-standing norms
This article gives more information about Wendy Davis.

gop will spend money defending Texas seats and this will reduce the amount they can spend elsewhere
if you believe in innocents crying out from their graves, you can see that by government choosing to gas its people, Assad grossly miscalculated.
with the photos of the dead and injured, victims “spoke out” and at least now the world is focused on Syria.
May be I am naïve but I see another benefit arising from PBO’s decision to seek authorization from congress – time will give a chance for role diplomacy to shine with a focus on the civilians in Syria.
rather than “undermining SoS Kerry” as some are suggesting, these few weeks give him a chance to demonstrate his tenacity and diplomatic skills.
I imagine that PBO, SoS Kerry and the rest of Team Obama will be working at breakneck speed to make sure that countries get a chance to stand up against the use of chemical weapons. We may see an “assault of diplomatic skills” on display – starting with the G20 and followed by the UN assembly.
I cannot believe that a majority of countries will not feel a shame of not standing up against gassing women and children.
If the push to focus on the impact of government use of chemical weapons on civilians succeeds in building a strong human rights coalition, may be the template could be used in other areas with similar turmoil.
okay, I live in hope that people will do the right thing in the end
Yes, so agree. Death from gas is horrible. I’ve seen enough videos and photos of what it’s like for dogs and cats. They’re trying to get it outlawed in states that use it.
I wish the State Department and White House would just release statements and put and end to that spin.
OTOH, you bring up a good point about the diplomatic aspect. Very and messy and sad situation.
Excellent perspective on all points, global. Time will build consensus and it’s already starting with the Arab League.
What do I mean when I say “President Obama rendered a “Solomonic” judgment Re: Syria. Practical analysis and thinking from retired Military & Stenographic journo’s is low level case presentation”.
Think of the two women appearing before the court of Solomon, each claiming ownership of the baby. Solomon rendered the judgment; cut the baby in half. The true baby Mother said the other could have the baby.
The true and the fake mothers (i.e. congress person) of congress has to decide on Syria. The true mothers (i.e. congress person) in congress will side with the babies of Syria.
Funny the Cable punditry didn’t include Tammy Duckworth.

I must confess I like good food and, unlike the President who looks so fit all the time, I’ve got evidence to show for it.
LOL – I was thinking that (for myself) as I looked at those pictures – PBO would burn more calories in a day than I can manage in a week!
Well, 99ts, my situation is even worse! I think I need more than a month to be able to burn as much calories as the President does in an hour; especially if I indulged in the same foods the President likes to eat when FLOTUS is not looking. Any way, right now I am very depressed because my doctor told me on Monday that I need to lose at least 30 LBS. because of my HBP! This means I have to exercise, which I dread at my age. But I am also supposed to pay attention to what I eat.
Nath, just try walking–it’s wonderful exercise and you get a new appreciation for the world around you. Until my husband I tried walking, we had less feeling for the change of seasons, the new growth in the spring, the full flowering in the summer and then the brilliant colors of fall. We even like to walk in the winter unless the ice is too bad. I have the feeling I’m as old or older than you and I find walking easy to do and really enjoyable. Plus it keeps us fit.
I didn’t see your reply before I posted – great minds and all that :)
We are more alike than you think – I gave up smoking some years ago & my weight has doubled!! Get good advice on the exercise – I was going really well until I took to the weights & my back has never recovered. After the event I learned I should have stayed with the walking & the cycling – sigh
My best advise came from a physio – walk for 15 min every morning – then every month she added 5 minutes – worked really well until the place flooded – her building went under – & I gave up walking – sigh
The missus and I sent Stewie the wonderpup off to boarding school and decided to have a day to ourselves. Had lunch at Marmalade Cafe, dinner at Kincaid’s in Redondo Beach, and in between saw Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine”, which was an amazing film. It’s what I consider a companion piece in thematic material to “Crimes and Misdemeanors”, which to me has been his greatest film.
Off to catch some z’s now. See everyone on the morrow.
Rest well everyone ….
And, let’s make it ALL FOR LOVE …..
… and in doing so we honor MLKJr, President Obama, Gandhi, Mandela, and OUR SELVES ….
You too, Doc! And thanks for sharing this timeless gem by Louis Armstrong.
All that food looks good..and healthy!
Unable to post due to piss-poor connection in SA. PBO punting the syria issue to the corrupt congress critters is the right move politically. He is dealing with parties of all bad faith here – be it the congress critters from both sides of the aisle, or UK or France or UN security council or putin or assad or be it the ‘freedom fighters’.
Amk! Good to hear from you, hope all’s going well on your trip.

President Obama, please continue2shock the cable news media as often as possible. It makes them show us who they really R, & we
Have a great Labor day everyone! Good morning Chips! Off to work I go!
Morning Layla, have a great day!
Hi Ms Chips – my gosh are our elections a disaster – there is no good outcome – our media is more RW than yours – and generally speaking this is not going to be a good week. Throwing remotes through television sets is a highly likely outcome – sigh
Morning/evening 99ts! Oh, sounds like you’re enduring misery! What date is the election?
Next Saturday – we always have elections on Saturday – paper ballots and hand counting – won’t even be able to blame machines, counting irregularities or corrupt politicians for the result. And there will be a 90% plus turnout
Labor has had some good ideas but terrible implementation (especially in relation to environmental issues) – internal arguments – little industry other than dig it up & sell it – unemployment – no great recession but no great recovery either – so they cannot win. I won’t be sorry to see Rudd lose – that will be the major positive – if he could lose his seat as well – that would be a bonus (except it would increase the RW majority).
That soon?! I didn’t realize, thought it was further away. From a distance, Rudd gives me the creeps, and judging by your feelings about him, that’s what he is! What are the polls like?
Very bad for Rudd & Labor
Yikes. Is Abbott your worst nightmare?
George W Bush the next – his minders will do any governing that has to be done.
My own thoughts are that he won’t last too long in the top position – too many of greater intelligence will want the job.
Despite the congress disaster you are so well served with PBO – I think the last time I really thought we had a good PM was 1972! – and they threw him out!
Oh gawd really 99ts, is he that stupid?
Yes. The ears make him look a little like Prince Charles – the brain is all Bush.
“Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has confirmed categorically – for the first time – that he would break the Coalition’s pledge on greenhouse reduction targets if it cost more money than he had budgeted for.”
Money is more important than our planet. He doesn’t deny global warming – he just thinks it is bad economics to do anything about it
One additional point I’d like to make about Syria involves the impact on Assad. The president’s decision, the meeting of the Arab League, the upcoming G20 and the possibility of growing united support against what this sadistic dictator has done to his own people, increases not only the spotlight on this man, but the tension. A quick strike by the US, which he might have survived, would have allowed him to trumpet the evils of the US and the “tyrant” President Obama and gin up injured resentment among his own allies in the ME. Now the buildup against him will be slow, which will increase the suspense, the doubt, the endless tension about what, when and how many will strike him. If this delay causes Assad to sweat at night and twitch in dreaded expectation of what’s coming next, then it it has a certain divine justice to it. He cannot call PBO or anyone else who strikes him reckless. The attacks, when they come, will be deliberate, fully supported by democratic processes and many, many times more powerful than a quick strike would have been.
THIS. I wish I had the ability to write and express my thoughts/opinions like so many here can do. Thanks to so many of you for doing it for me and I can then agree! :)
Happy Labor Day to all!

Good morning all. Happy labour day to everyone. To me Labour day means a unit full of women giving birth. A wonderful way to honour the future world is to give these women the best possible circumstances to bring our future generation into a safe, happy environment.
