Been spending more time going ‘click’ on the tee vee and radio these days. When Norman Goldman prefaced his beliefs on Syria by saying, “We must be empathetic. We must view the situation through Assad’s eyes – as he watches his country slip away from him…..” or some such nonsense.

These same bastards, if PBO hadn’t said we need to respond, would have called him a heartless bastard for not caring about the poor, Syrian gassed children.

      Absurd.

According to the article I read by CB he is asking the same thing Congress asked SoS Kerry, “how sure are you of the evidence”? After reading articles posted here from the NYT’s about the rockets used, amount of chemicals in the warhead, and the information on the WH website I am convinced about the information that the intelligence gather shortly after the attack. I am convinced that we will learn more about it as the rest of the world community slowly comes on board.

Does anyone think Assad is cunning enough to have tried to ‘set up’ our president?

      • 53 pkayden
        September 5, 2013 at 1:54 pm

Why does CB think President Obama and Secretary Kerry would lie about the Assad regime being responsible for the use of chemical weapons? Neither Obama or Kerry are warmongers. In fact, President Obama has tried to stay out of the Syria civil war and is only acting because Syria has crossed the red line by using chemical weapons.

Based on what I’ve been reading about how the rebels are a ragtag group, I might be wrong, but I find it hard to believe they could get their hands on chemical weapons of the sort described in the articles I’ve read. It may have been possible, but I think the likelihood is very small.

It’s really getting weird watching the emoprogs go nuts and twist themselves 180 degrees to project the Bush administration’s lying and bona fide warmongering onto PBO and SoS Kerry. Please proceed, emos.

Exactly Sandy – and I’m not buying that explanation. I feel that the resistance is more due to a dire fear of PBO continuing his string of foreign policy successes.

This is just a follow up to an earlier tweet of mine. So many of the arguments agauinst intervention are so silly. The thing is, there are a lot of legitimate reasons, or at least reality based reasons, to be against it, but the cacophony from the objectors, as in the NSA story, prevent the reasoned debate necessary.

I can be wrong, but I do not believe President Obama would be lying about Assad using chemical weapons, if he did not used them. The last thing POTUS want to do is get us into another war. I believe Assad used the chemical weapons.

      • September 5, 2013 at 1:23 pm

Hell, I’m all for Hayes moving in with Greenwald and his boy toy, Miranda. Let Griffin build a broadcast studio in Brazil for Hayes and Greenwald. Maybe pay Sirota to live with them. Why not have a new program:” American Expats in Brazil”. Then they can spin-off another new blockbuster:” Russia Is Awesome”, hosted by Snowden and Assange. Think of the cross-over possibilities.

Huff Puff has an article about MSNBC’s ” Chris Hayes ” experiment is working “

      • September 5, 2013 at 1:13 pm

re: “Chris Hayes experiment is working”: This cannot stand. We cannot allow Chris Hayes and his ilk be the spokesman for liberals. We have to find a way to decrease the size of his and his ilks’ microphones. I don’t know why his ratings are “miraculously” improving but I can’t bear the thought that this emoprog adolescent has a bigger voice than I a liberal since my parents allowed me to watch the election returns of JFK.

As zizi said upthread, I’m way past the PL trolling for dollars.

    • 74 Lovepolitics2008
      September 5, 2013 at 1:40 pm

Hayes is completely blinded by ideology. And he’s the perfect example of a guy who is smart but totally lacks JUDGEMENT. I don’t know if it’s curable…

He won’t listen a word in his interview with Kerry tonight. Mark my words. He has all his questions prepared, his conclusion reached, and will totally discard the information that contradicts his pre-conceived opinions.

Message to MSNBC: you want ratings ? Give us JOURNALISM. Put Pete Williams in charge of a news show, prime time. Give him a team of real journalists to work with him. And watch your ratings SOAR.

      Geeeezzzzz

      • 75 hopefruit2
        September 5, 2013 at 2:03 pm

Hayes as not as smart as he’s made out to be. He’s an extremely privileged individual who has had more breaks than challenges in life.

He is not a mover or a shaker – he has not inspired, created or invented any product of significant value to humanity. He has not organized any movement which has permanently changed the trajectory of the country or world’s psyche. All he does is YAP endlessly about hypotheticals and when he’s tired of doing that, he parrots every crap he hears from the likes of Greenwald et al., and tries desperately to be the “coolest geek” in his limited circle of adolescent puritan emoprogs.

In other words, if an alien came tonight and snatched Hayes from the face of earth – there would be no deep mourning of that loss outside of his family and closest friends.

        • 76 majiir
          September 5, 2013 at 2:56 pm

Two of the key components missing from Chris Hayes’ psychological make up, imo, is humility and empathy. He doesn’t know what life is like for the average American, and he doesn’t care.

    • 77 Sandy1110
      September 5, 2013 at 4:11 pm

Why does anyone watch Chris Hayes? I know there’s a “know thy enemy” thing, but I will NOT tune my cable box to MSNBC while they amp up the rabid, strange hate of this administration.

I love taking a moment of meditation and centering when I go to Gratefulness to light a candle for Pres. Obama. Then I think of my prayer and type it in. After I light my candle I run my cursor over the other candles and read their prayers. There is a beautiful, peaceful space created there and much love for POTUS.

It is a beautiful and peaceful space indeed, ThisMagicalEarth. I saw so many beautiful and moving prayers during POB’s elections. MightyPamela also reminds us to go there and light our candles. I think it is a collective beautiful spiritual act of goodness going forth for POB and others. Love the space. I have candles lit all over the house. Burning even at this moment. HZ

Sickening to hear Rumsfeld or Republican congresscritters “question” President Obama on his “evidence” about Syria and his careful decision-making based on facts. Didn’t hear him directly, but apparently Chris Cuomo on CNN got Rumsfeld to admit one “regret” about Iraq … that “nation building should be modest.” How about lying to the American people and the world? How about all the deaths thanks to the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld lies? Do ya regret any of that, you creepy ass buffoon? Go back to whatever hole you’ve been hiding in, and leave the rest of us alone.

Who is Rumsfeld again? That idiot who enthusiastically supported the Iraq war and told “jokes” during press conferences? Please! Why is anyone asking for his opinion on anything? Rumsfeld and Cheney don’t seem to understand that they helped to sink Bush’s presidency, which is still toxic in the minds of many Americans.

    • 106 57andfemale
      September 5, 2013 at 2:19 pm

I’m home today but unfortunately I have to be working in my home office that doesn’t have a TV. I’ve been checking AJAM’s coverage as I can.

From my limited viewing, it appears to be fair in its reporting. there is more information on the views of the other nations, and not just stupid reactions like you’d get from Chuck Todd or Andrea Mitchell, but actual reporters doing actual reporting.

As it stands right now – other countries are skeptical. They are particularly skeptical of joining the U.S. in a mission without UN sanction. (Thank you Bush regime for breaking everything). However, they are also saying that Russia is putting the Security Council at a standstill. They are saying that the U.S. is just starting to make its case, and that information from the inspectors is just now forthcoming, with more to come.

It’s almost shocking to listen to the coverage – that we’re just at the beginning of a process and there is more to come. Without hyperbole and a bunch of know-nothings drawing Big Conclusions from very little evidence about complex issues that they know nothing about.

I’m not sensing a bias in either direction. They make time for a world view and not just some dumb, overpaid ‘reporter’s’ view.

I saw Samantha Powers – and although her statement was strong, she does not yet have the polish in presentation that we’ve come to expect from Susan Rice. That will come with experience.

Just my snapshot from the middle of the day: the U.S. has a much harder uphill climb than it would have had in the past, due to the Bush regime ruining our credibility. But we are in the midst of a process, and AJAM is not into drawing pundit-y conclusions.

I reiterate – I am not home enough to watch their coverage all day, so take my impressions with that in mind. In general, they spend a lot more time on substantive debates and coverage of issues. They will give a full half hour to two guests on issues. They are not giving voice to a lot of loons, just to do ‘he said/she said’ reporting. There is a split screen showing the credentials of the guests so you know who they really are.

The only show that sends me running out of the room is Ali Velshi’s ‘business’ reporting. He’s a jackass.

Interestingly, you hear devil’s advocate questions that would strike us as anti-Obama on msnbc or cnn. But you can tell that on AJAM these questions must be asked, because it is our opportunity to express our side.

      So far, I’m pretty impressed.
