President Obama boards Air Force One at Stockholm-Arlanda International Airport in Sweden en route to Saint Petersburg to attend the G20 summit
Chuckle – hiya Japa!
Morning again. Never a dull moment.
japa! Don’t let Dudette call you a shrew:) She’s feisty today!
Saw that earlier. But she would never do that to me.
3 ….. 2…… 1……..
You’re right! I wouldn’t, because YOU honorable and play fair with the other TODs unlike SOME people around!
Hey! vc sticks her foot in the door! What’s the diff?? :)
She’s WRONG too! :-D
Maligned in my absence… again! Wonder what a good lawyer costs, and if I have enough in my piggy bank to finance the initial call?
Congratulation on your well-deserved first japa! Nice to see you! :-D
Well thank you. It is always adelight to see you around.
Way to step it up, Mr. Japa, sir!
I have had it up to here with charlatan and morally repugnant professional left. Libs shld never give them eyeballs or clicks. They want selfish libertarian gravy train they get not a dime of my $$$ in patronage
Been spending more time going ‘click’ on the tee vee and radio these days. When Norman Goldman prefaced his beliefs on Syria by saying, “We must be empathetic. We must view the situation through Assad’s eyes – as he watches his country slip away from him…..” or some such nonsense.
These same bastards, if PBO hadn’t said we need to respond, would have called him a heartless bastard for not caring about the poor, Syrian gassed children.
Look who finally made it to First! congrats Japa :-)
About time too, GGail
Reminds me of my early years. Always had trouble making it to first.
Me too Japa, I considered 26th a triumph – especially in those school 1,500m races.
Um, Chipsticks, I think you and japa are talking about two differents “first” . And you got me rolling on the floor laughing at the different meanings
On reflection, you are 100% correct GGail, it escaped me completely that Japa was opening up about his youthful loving life.
That, I think, says a lot about my innocence – if not yours.
Jeez Chips, just like with VC yesterday, I have trouble combining Chips and innocent in the same sentence.
‘Scuse me you. You surely must have noted how potentially naughty talk always goes right over my head here, and that says it all about my character: pure as the driven snow.
This from the person who invented the naughty mat?
X 2, my twin, CC! The naughty ones here truly do not recognize innocence such as ours, Chips Chica. [Ahem, notice how quickly GGail some got his messaging?] I’ve come to realize it’s actually not easy for the non-innocent to truly understand innocence, so I don’t hold it against them any more. /insert angelic smilie here/
HEY! who let you back in???!!!!
I’m still on the floor laughing… I may not get up till it’s time to go home
Congrats japa on #1 :)
My the TOD threads are moving rather quickly – I guess everyone is back from vacation!
They’re moving like Usain Bolt today Hopefruit! I thought R&S wouldn’t have reached 100 comments by now, but here we are – two posts later!
I’m rushing to keep up. I was so surprised when I sat down at my desk to see that I was a whole post and 1/2 behind! WHEW!
“I was a whole post and 1/2 behind!”
Wait – are you and VC actually the same person????
HA! No Chipsticks!!!! But I think she left some of her traits behind when she flew out of Los Angeles – I haven’t been the same since :D
Oh heavens. So from now on you’re going to to be talking to yourself in the sixth last post, wondering where everyone has gone? :???:
It’s happened a couple of times already – hahahaha
You are killing me this morning – STOP!!!!
Please keep looking over at me and all they see are my shoulders moving up and down and suppressed laughter bursting out and I’m not on the TELEPHONE!
People – not – Please (sheese) See??
 Next thing you’ll be posting links to The Please’s View – and seriously confusing us.
 I’l feel really bad if you get fired because of your jiggly shoulders, shut down TOD right now!!!
Not on your life kiddo!
I’d rather be unemployed than be without TOD!!!!! (did I just say that out loud???!@@!@@!!!!!)
 You said it OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!
We might need to create a TODaholics Anonymous Group. :-D
I got it bad!!!!!
‘might need a TODaholics Anonymous’?
In truth, D-ette, at this stage of the game I’m doubtful one of those would be of the least help! At the 1millionth marker, maybe; at the 21st m I’d say we are dealing with dyed in the O-water wackos here; ‘no point’.
Kids are back in school! POTUS is in Europe and we have a potential military strike on the table ~ the only place to find the real view is right here, right now, on TOD! I did see a brief note from AMK not long ago, so knew he was still on the planet! Back later, y’all, I have some phone calls to make, though I have tried to put it off….. ;)
Yep, back from vacation, full of pep and energy and…I’ll finish that thought after my nap.
Yes japa, I see you’re rearing to go! Hope you had a nice, restful vacation and welcome back. I look forward to your finished thoughts later today :)
.@JeffersonObama the Congressional Progressive Caucus even said they're convinced Assad used CW. What are @maddow and Blow smoking?— The People's View (@thepeoplesview) September 05, 2013
I’m surprised Charles Blow is taking this position. Group think?
According to the article I read by CB he is asking the same thing Congress asked SoS Kerry, “how sure are you of the evidence”? After reading articles posted here from the NYT’s about the rockets used, amount of chemicals in the warhead, and the information on the WH website I am convinced about the information that the intelligence gather shortly after the attack. I am convinced that we will learn more about it as the rest of the world community slowly comes on board.
Does anyone think Assad is cunning enough to have tried to ‘set up’ our president?
Why does CB think President Obama and Secretary Kerry would lie about the Assad regime being responsible for the use of chemical weapons? Neither Obama or Kerry are warmongers. In fact, President Obama has tried to stay out of the Syria civil war and is only acting because Syria has crossed the red line by using chemical weapons.
Based on what I’ve been reading about how the rebels are a ragtag group, I might be wrong, but I find it hard to believe they could get their hands on chemical weapons of the sort described in the articles I’ve read. It may have been possible, but I think the likelihood is very small.
@thepeoplesview @JeffersonObama @maddow Clearly they hv some extra special top secret intel – maybe even from Snowden himself— Dudette (@Dudette9t9) September 05, 2013
It’s really getting weird watching the emoprogs go nuts and twist themselves 180 degrees to project the Bush administration’s lying and bona fide warmongering onto PBO and SoS Kerry. Please proceed, emos.
Exactly Sandy – and I’m not buying that explanation. I feel that the resistance is more due to a dire fear of PBO continuing his string of foreign policy successes.
This is just a follow up to an earlier tweet of mine. So many of the arguments agauinst intervention are so silly. The thing is, there are a lot of legitimate reasons, or at least reality based reasons, to be against it, but the cacophony from the objectors, as in the NSA story, prevent the reasoned debate necessary.
Let's make this clear, the thing preventing us from spending money on the US is not Syria. It is the GOP and only the GOP.— john miller (@deaconmill) September 05, 2013

@JeffersonObama Is there anything at all Hayes could do that would cause Griffin to fire him? /smh— LL (Tommi) Thomason (@Sillmyril) September 05, 2013
WTF, Chris Hayes sounds like he’s entering “Sirota/GreenwaldLand”. I hope all you TOD twitter warriors are providing pushback. Actually, I think Chris Hayes deserves his own mocking hashtag.
He’s been there for ages.
Well you know Chris Hayes can always go to Brazil or Russia where his buddies are. That military fight and keep sorry ass folks like him safe so he can call them monsters. Have Hayes ever serve in the military?.
Of course hayes has never served in the army that would entail being a patriot and a certain amount of courage. Chris said that the military should not be called heroes but he thinks snowden is one.
I can be wrong, but I do not believe President Obama would be lying about Assad using chemical weapons, if he did not used them. The last thing POTUS want to do is get us into another war. I believe Assad used the chemical weapons.
Hell, I’m all for Hayes moving in with Greenwald and his boy toy, Miranda. Let Griffin build a broadcast studio in Brazil for Hayes and Greenwald. Maybe pay Sirota to live with them. Why not have a new program:” American Expats in Brazil”. Then they can spin-off another new blockbuster:” Russia Is Awesome”, hosted by Snowden and Assange. Think of the cross-over possibilities.
The guy is always calling out troops names. He did that early this year…..saying that our Troops who were awarded Medals for heroism were not heros. He had so much flack and had to tearfully apologized. Here he goes again? What a piece of bat poop.
Huff Puff has an article about MSNBC’s ” Chris Hayes ” experiment is working “
re: “Chris Hayes experiment is working”: This cannot stand. We cannot allow Chris Hayes and his ilk be the spokesman for liberals. We have to find a way to decrease the size of his and his ilks’ microphones. I don’t know why his ratings are “miraculously” improving but I can’t bear the thought that this emoprog adolescent has a bigger voice than I a liberal since my parents allowed me to watch the election returns of JFK.
As zizi said upthread, I’m way past the PL trolling for dollars.
Hayes is completely blinded by ideology. And he’s the perfect example of a guy who is smart but totally lacks JUDGEMENT. I don’t know if it’s curable…
He won’t listen a word in his interview with Kerry tonight. Mark my words. He has all his questions prepared, his conclusion reached, and will totally discard the information that contradicts his pre-conceived opinions.
Message to MSNBC: you want ratings ? Give us JOURNALISM. Put Pete Williams in charge of a news show, prime time. Give him a team of real journalists to work with him. And watch your ratings SOAR.
Hayes as not as smart as he’s made out to be. He’s an extremely privileged individual who has had more breaks than challenges in life.
He is not a mover or a shaker – he has not inspired, created or invented any product of significant value to humanity. He has not organized any movement which has permanently changed the trajectory of the country or world’s psyche. All he does is YAP endlessly about hypotheticals and when he’s tired of doing that, he parrots every crap he hears from the likes of Greenwald et al., and tries desperately to be the “coolest geek” in his limited circle of adolescent puritan emoprogs.
In other words, if an alien came tonight and snatched Hayes from the face of earth – there would be no deep mourning of that loss outside of his family and closest friends.
Two of the key components missing from Chris Hayes’ psychological make up, imo, is humility and empathy. He doesn’t know what life is like for the average American, and he doesn’t care.
Why does anyone watch Chris Hayes? I know there’s a “know thy enemy” thing, but I will NOT tune my cable box to MSNBC while they amp up the rabid, strange hate of this administration.

That sound you hear is weeping and gnashing of teeth from GOP quarters.
I love taking a moment of meditation and centering when I go to Gratefulness to light a candle for Pres. Obama. Then I think of my prayer and type it in. After I light my candle I run my cursor over the other candles and read their prayers. There is a beautiful, peaceful space created there and much love for POTUS.
It is a beautiful and peaceful space indeed, ThisMagicalEarth. I saw so many beautiful and moving prayers during POB’s elections. MightyPamela also reminds us to go there and light our candles. I think it is a collective beautiful spiritual act of goodness going forth for POB and others. Love the space. I have candles lit all over the house. Burning even at this moment. HZ

To those who oppose strike on Syria because they doubt evidence, are you saying you would support it if you were convinced Assad used CW?— john miller (@deaconmill) September 05, 2013
Sickening to hear Rumsfeld or Republican congresscritters “question” President Obama on his “evidence” about Syria and his careful decision-making based on facts. Didn’t hear him directly, but apparently Chris Cuomo on CNN got Rumsfeld to admit one “regret” about Iraq … that “nation building should be modest.” How about lying to the American people and the world? How about all the deaths thanks to the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld lies? Do ya regret any of that, you creepy ass buffoon? Go back to whatever hole you’ve been hiding in, and leave the rest of us alone.
Susan Collins has “many questions” about the “wisdom” of the President’s goals in Syria. Guess she was on vacation when Bush took us into war.
Expecting Satan’s other half to regret the death & destruction they wreaked on the world? C’mon, that ain’t gonna happen.
You’re right though, he should definitely crawl back into his hole and stay there.
I’m crawling away from the “cable news” stuff for a while. Can’t take any more.
Good plan for your sanity and your soul.
Who is Rumsfeld again? That idiot who enthusiastically supported the Iraq war and told “jokes” during press conferences? Please! Why is anyone asking for his opinion on anything? Rumsfeld and Cheney don’t seem to understand that they helped to sink Bush’s presidency, which is still toxic in the minds of many Americans.
Waiting for a delivery at home in middle of the day. I made the mistake of turning on Now with Alex. OMG Ron Paul a living walking picture of Hate. All hate. While screeching about “liberty.” Talking about Assange.
Alex pushed back. But still MSNBC Hayes? Paul? Emoprogs?
All corporate all the time
Good luck with those falling ratings.
Turn that crap off. Go look at YouTube videos of babies, puppies, or kittens until Martin Bashir comes on. You’ll feel better.
Hey, you know Chips has a You Tube channel. Lots of cool stuff to watch there.
My choice is TOD, only TOD, MSNBC is off, off, off. What shallow self serving limited thinking people, how do they get those jobs?

Does anyone know how Al Jazerra America is covering this ?
I’m home today but unfortunately I have to be working in my home office that doesn’t have a TV. I’ve been checking AJAM’s coverage as I can.
From my limited viewing, it appears to be fair in its reporting. there is more information on the views of the other nations, and not just stupid reactions like you’d get from Chuck Todd or Andrea Mitchell, but actual reporters doing actual reporting.
As it stands right now – other countries are skeptical. They are particularly skeptical of joining the U.S. in a mission without UN sanction. (Thank you Bush regime for breaking everything). However, they are also saying that Russia is putting the Security Council at a standstill. They are saying that the U.S. is just starting to make its case, and that information from the inspectors is just now forthcoming, with more to come.
It’s almost shocking to listen to the coverage – that we’re just at the beginning of a process and there is more to come. Without hyperbole and a bunch of know-nothings drawing Big Conclusions from very little evidence about complex issues that they know nothing about.
I’m not sensing a bias in either direction. They make time for a world view and not just some dumb, overpaid ‘reporter’s’ view.
I saw Samantha Powers – and although her statement was strong, she does not yet have the polish in presentation that we’ve come to expect from Susan Rice. That will come with experience.
Just my snapshot from the middle of the day: the U.S. has a much harder uphill climb than it would have had in the past, due to the Bush regime ruining our credibility. But we are in the midst of a process, and AJAM is not into drawing pundit-y conclusions.
I reiterate – I am not home enough to watch their coverage all day, so take my impressions with that in mind. In general, they spend a lot more time on substantive debates and coverage of issues. They will give a full half hour to two guests on issues. They are not giving voice to a lot of loons, just to do ‘he said/she said’ reporting. There is a split screen showing the credentials of the guests so you know who they really are.
The only show that sends me running out of the room is Ali Velshi’s ‘business’ reporting. He’s a jackass.
Interestingly, you hear devil’s advocate questions that would strike us as anti-Obama on msnbc or cnn. But you can tell that on AJAM these questions must be asked, because it is our opportunity to express our side.
So far, I’m pretty impressed.
Darn. I was hoping Rumsfeld had a twitter account but he doesn’t. Just sent this message to him anyway!
