Everyone seems a bit lethargic today – must be the quick trip to Sweden and Russia.

Jet Lag…..big time. I hope the President has tomorrow and Sunday to rest! If anyone’s ever earned it, he has! We all stick with him so closely, we feel the jet lag too.
        Good day to rest.

The American people will come around. Eventually they will see through the MSM/EmoLeft/GOP’s agenda and know whose interests are being served ultimately…

Thank you ! And why are people acting like the resolution is already defeated. We won’t have a firm count until we get close to vote, and we still have to wait for the President’s prime time address.

I want this to pass now because I can’t stand the emo/ PL.

Exactly – and despite the AP’s screaming headline that House members are opposed 6 to 1, they slide this sentence deep in the article – hoping no one will see it:

“Still, the situation is very fluid. Nearly half of the 433-member House and a third of the 100-member Senate remain undecided.”

  6. September 6, 2013 at 6:06 pm

    Evening peeps.

ok, so I read this book, right. It was about these 2 couples who fall in love. One couple is straight and one couple is gay.

So anyway, it’s your garden variety trashy chick-lit romance but the storyline about the gay couple was actually very interesting. The setting was the music industry. One of the guys was a big time young country singer and the other guy was a rock singer. The rock singer was openly gay, but the country singer was out at home among friends and close family.

So anyway, the country guy and the rocker guy fall in love, blah, blah, blah. So the country guy gets “outed” by a rival musician in the country music industry. The country dude not only loses his contract, his back up band, his endorsements, blah, blah, blah. Ultimately the story had the usual HEA that the chick-lit ususally does.

So anyway, that got me to thinking, I’m a big pop/r&b/hip-hop fan, so I think I know what would happen if say some big young cat in that industry comes out, I don’t think it would matter. A rapper, might be a little harder, but the whole Frank Ocean bit, makes me think, maybe it might be getter better with rappers…but I don’t nothing about country music.

So my question, people always talk about hip hop and LGBT issues, but what about country music? Does country music have the same attitude about it all as hip hop allegedly does? I mean, has there every been an out and proud big name gay male country music singer? And if not, would it matter if it’s an established star vs an younger star…?

Any country music fans wanna give me your take?

BTW: I’m not discounting women like KD Lang or Queen Latifah, although I”m taking them out of the equation because for whatever reasons, lesbians dont’ get the same reaction as gay males. Especially in the hyper-masculine edge to country and hip hop

Isn’t David Corn the Mother Jones writer who brought the 47% tapes to the public eye? If so, what’s up with him, the entire stand on humanitarian intervention in Syria is a no-brainer. Thank you, Mia Farrow!

How do I get rid of this prob? Getting dozens of emails saying so and so mentioned you on twitter, or you were a part of a conversation on twitter. Uhhhh—–never heard of these peeps, have nothing to do with politics or news of the day, as far as I can tell, something about talent and beauty and have photos of a girl in a bikini—–one from a gal in Australia and another twitter account from some old lecherous dude who is following her around. How do I get rid of these guys? And how did they pick up my twitter account?—-I’m a rare participant, mostly a reader or a retweeter. Just tired or it—-keep getting another 24 emails right after I just deleted 20.

    • September 6, 2013 at 6:38 pm

      Yikes!

Dotster, out of interest, check your settings on Twitter. Click settings, go to Apps, and see if you have given any apps access to your account. If you have, click ‘revoke’. Give it a try, and let us know if that helps.

Also, click email notifications, and uncheck all the options.

    • September 6, 2013 at 6:39 pm

Create an email account that you will never use. Substitute it for whatever email account you used to register with Twitter. Then, all you have to do is just ‘delete all’ from that account’s inbox and empty trash, occasionally. I have a couple of ‘dumpster’ accounts that I use for that purpose ;)

Thanks chips and bobfr for trying to help. I’m so helpless in these kind of matters. I’m trying to remedy with your hot tips—without screwing everything else up. Can y’all come to my house and fix this for me? I’ll pay you a penny a minute (what my dad used to pay me to rub his back—-I thought it was a great deal—–that I was really raking in the dough) :)

Mark these emails as spam and delete them (whoever your email provider is should be able to help you with how to do that) ). I’d also strongly advise you to run your virus checking software on your computer. NEVER click on links in unsolicited emails from people/organizations you don’t know. That’s one way you could end up with a computer virus that could damage your computer and compromise whatever else you have on it.

Then go to the Settings for your Twitter account and under Security and Privacy, uncheck the box for “Discoverability – Let others find me by my email address”. Then change your Twitter password.

Also, a warning: If you get Twitter direct messages with odd messages, even seeminingly from people you know, that say soomething like “people are saying stuff about you…” or “I can’t believe what you’re doing in this video…” – DO NOT CLICK on the link in the message. Just delete the message and report that twitter name to Twitter Support if you don’t know the person. .. It’s a scam to hack your Twitter account. Btw if if direct messages like the do come from people you know, it might mean that THEIR Twitter account has been hacked. Just make it a rule not to click links in direct messages on Twitter and you’ll avoid that headache.

Crooks are out there. Be careful.

I love your daughter. I got a robo call yesterday from the party of the Misogynist – rang my local member – who belongs to the same party – and told the bright young chap who answered the phone – the party that sends robo calls to my phone – gets the last number in my voting preferences.

More than any other form of campaigning I HATE robo calls – a government that lets me go on a “do not call” register yet sends out robo calls is not my kind of government.

    Agree 100% with Meta’s tweet.

MSM need to be taken aside and informed that they are not the story.

That they need to report on what’s really going on, not try to stir the pot for views.

MSNBC was apparently in lockstep yesterday on the NYT front page article that turned out to be from an earlier year.

upChuck Todd is vile in so many ways. I don’t follow him, but went to his twitter feed because I knew he was traveling with our President, and his some of his tweets were worthy of high school hijinx, not even up to college frat-boy level.

I really am trying to tune out the irrelevant media, so here’s some info from our President’s wonderful trip to Sweden:

This is in reference to the local Swedish press not being able to photograph “The Beast” when it zoomed by…

  21. September 6, 2013 at 7:28 pm

    And did y’all see this?

Napolitano would be a great replacement on SCOTUS (she knows the horror of Tucson and the Arizona RWNJs up-close-and-personal).

MSM is so focused on the “blame Obama narrative” that most Americans aren’t aware just how rightwing SCOTUS is now.

I refer to the 3-headed hydra, but really should remember that it’s a 4-headed beast:
    . MSM
. emoprogs, who are far more dangerous than…
    . RWNJs
    . SCOTUS

The replies to his question appear to be running 90:10 in support of the president – so he responds that people are “conflicted”. He sure got a surprise – and asked a negative question.

But ultimately, what I believe in even more deeply [than UN action] – because I think the security of the world…requires that when there’s a breech this brazen of a norm this important and the international community is paralyzed and frozen and doesn’t act – then that norm begins to unravel. And if that norm unravels then other norms and prohibitions start unraveling and that makes for a more dangerous world. That requires even more difficult choices and more difficult responses in the future.

    This is a big wow….

“Just last month in August 2013, Saudi intelligence chief Bandar bin Sultan offered Russia’s President Vladamir Putin millions of dollars in economic trade and concessions in return for ceasing support of the Assad regime and was rejected”.

    Evening Obots!

I had today off, and spent it mostly away from blogs, news, or emo-gushing. Got my car washed, had lunch with the missus, picked up mother from work (yes, she’s going to be 82 in about 13 days and she has no intention of quitting, regardless of what she might say), and am now enjoying a margarita made with some good, inexpensive tequila from Trader Joe’s whilst watching college football.

My take: people won’t really focus on Syria until PBO makes his prime time speech on Tuesday. And then we’ll see the polls swing his way. I expect the mother of all teaching moments next week.

    • September 6, 2013 at 8:21 pm

Evening LL, good to hear you had such a highly pleasant day!!

      • September 6, 2013 at 8:26 pm

Well, if I’d spent it online, the missus would have probably broken my laptop. So there is that. But getting away from the maelstrom does give one perspective.

And, again, I expect the polling to move after the Oval Office address, when PBO lays out everything, both about Assad’s crimes and the narrow focus of the US response.

As an added note, I just finished reading Spandan’s new piece about Dems voting for Kosovo and giving Obama the side eye over Syria. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon is crying crocodile tears over the possibility of a US / Allied strike, saying it would make things worse. The same Mr. Ban who last year excoriated PBO for not doing enough re: Syria. He can either lead or shut the fuck up, especially in light of the UN’s singular failure to prevent countless atrocities since its creation: Bangladesh, Rwanda, Srebenica, etc., etc.

        • September 6, 2013 at 8:30 pm

“The same Mr. Ban who last year excoriated PBO for not doing enough re: Syria.”

That’s the thing LL, I’m losing count of the ‘two-facedness’ of soooooo many people on this, in America and beyond, it’s really quite spectacular.

    • September 6, 2013 at 8:29 pm

Sounds like a perfect day for you, LL, and I hope you’re right about next Tuesday.

Putting one’s self in another person’s shoes has always been a key guide to courses of actions to take (especially in complex situations where the solution is not black or white).

I am trying to appeal to people within overall range of communications network to focus on the victims of government brutality as they weigh their stand on intervening in Syria.

What if many of the loudest voices put themselves (or their dear friends/families) in the shoes of the victims of the CW attack?

Hi all – completely off topic – the MSM would be disgusted!

some of you know we have an election in Australia today. One has to find the bright side – not too many to be seen – but because of the voting method for our Senate elections (proportional representative) it can be a financial advantage – and an electoral advantage – for nominations to be part of a group. Consequently we have a collection of interestingly named political parties

    Animal Justice Party
    Hemp party
    Senator online
    Pirate party
    The Greens
    Stop the Greens
    Australian Christians
    Sex Party
    Shooters and Fishers
    No Carbon Tax Climate Sceptics
    Australian Fishing and Lifestyle Party
    Australian Motoring enthusiast party
    Smokers rights
    Secular Party of Australia
and another 20 or 30 with slightly saner names

There are “who knows how many” parties in total running for the senate. Each state elects 6 senators and 4 or 5 of those seats go to the major parties – so the masses of political groups are fighting for 1 seat in each state. I would hope the greens get that seat but there are some RWNJ parties which will probably get a couple of seats. The “wikileaks” party is on the ticket in the state of Victoria – I haven’t checked elsewhere – not in my state.

Great site to bookmark…h/t to Blog for AZ

Been quiet today..introspective, I guess. Spent 2 hours of my day at the DMV waiting…..waiting…..waiting….all for a new photo for my NOT EXPIRED license! Since I had the day off, I thought I should take care of this today, but what a pain. Over and done with now….waiting to see if it rains, or we just get another nasty dust storm. In which case, hubby will have something to do tomorrow. Clean the pool!

Been thinking about Syria and I may have something to say about it later….Contrary to what some people would have us believe, I see this has a distinctly liberal cause, that’s why i have such a problem with the “liberal” naysayers….and I also have thoughts about the RW….it’s all just ruminating in my head right now…..I agree with LL, though. I think after the President lays this out and speaks plainly and clearly about the atrocities that are going on there, things will change. I wish that everyone in America could see the video of the children and young people that are suffocating to death and have their skin burned off their bodies….the convulsions and the terrified tears….and ignore that.
LL mentioned other places that atrocities have happened where we either did intervene or were begged to intervene….Darfur, Rwanda, Kosovo, come to mind.

I have questions about so called ” American Exceptionalism” and would argue that we can not be an exceptional nation if we stand by and do nothing in the face of this. I can’t call America an exceptional nation for many reasons, but those that are so inclined to believe that…well, I think no action on this would leave us out of the running for even entertaining that cozy thought.

I’ll try and collect my thoughts. I tend to get very introspective in times like these and have to shut out the noise that comes from those with another agenda. They are not honest. They muddy the waters and inject their own toxic waste into a conversation that is desperate for level headed adults. The questions in my head go on and on….All I know for sure, is that we can’t claim the moral high ground, claim to value lives of ALL innocents, whether here or anywhere in the world, if we choose to put blinders on during atrocities like this. Like it or not, we are the most powerful nation on this planet, others look to us in their times of suffering and strife. We can’t pretend to like that high esteem only when it is convenient for us. Sometimes the right thing to do, is the hardest thing. This is hard and complicated….but in order to make the best decision, everyone needs to get real and honest. I just don’t see that happening right now….which makes me wonder if our current politics and players make us inept and ineffectual in a crisis of this magnitude.
