wow just got done reading this pdf online – saw it go by on twitter. take a gander. Pretty concise, thoughtful

    • September 7, 2013 at 5:32 pm

Excellent analysis of the situation. One of the many collateral benefits of the path President Obama is pursuing is that it has allowed for these types of analysis to be done. It’s essential we all strive to get the information before as many Americans as possible since we know the #NEWSTAINERS won’t.

      Thank you Alice!

Thanks a4alice for sharing this article. I just don’t see how people who claim to be supportive of human rights can look the other way when a brutal dictator, using horrific chemical weapons, murders so many innocent people.

I see people on twitter having just pointless fights with real nutballs—–just the grossest, yuckiest looking people with timelines that are over-saturated with goofball, idiotic musings. Seems like a big waste of time to me. Unless that is their entertainment.

    • September 7, 2013 at 6:17 pm

You have such a way with words, Dotster! I’ve lost count the last few days how many times I almost got involved with nutjobs, from the right and left, but took a deep breath and just clicked block. But sometimes I am completely stupid enough to reply, and you only end up regretting it, it’s a total waste of energy and brainpower with these freaks.

      • 98 dotster3
        September 7, 2013 at 6:45 pm

Exactly. It just seems smart people need not engage with people who they know would scream that Obama is a fascist dicator! because he announced he was in favor of air and water. There needs to be some evidence of a working brain cell to respond. Otherwise, time better spent watching ants carry a crumb 10 times their size back to their ant hill abode, like I did today——-or similar.

    • September 7, 2013 at 7:04 pm

Early in my wanderings in the twitterverse I learned the value of block and forget. Definitely the best approach.

      • September 7, 2013 at 7:15 pm

In my first couple of months I would engage. But I soon realized that I was on Twitter to spread information and buck up the troops. I wasn’t there to engage with trolls.

I do need to change my profile so that I include emoprogs along with RWNJ in the list of people I block.

        TY, Nena.

The way the media and emoprogs and etc. etc. are making this a decision ON the president (as if he hasn’t proven himself over and over) versus on Assad’s actions is disgusting IMO.

Great reminder VC! I don’t understand how every few months, people supposedly in his corner, forget who this guy his. He’s been consistent from day one about what he stands for! Look at this track record. As Bob says: TrustBarack, he’s earned it!

BONUS: It’s so cute how he hesitated to say “kicking ass” at 3:53. I just wanted to pinch his cheeks there! :-)

Yeh. It’s not his style, but I’d love to hear him let a couple of choice expletives roll out “accidentally” on purpose. It might be a good stress reliever. Serves me well. :-D

Although wasn’t there a “caught on tape incident” early in his first term…? hmmm. I’ll see if I can find it.

Also reminds me of Senator Chuck Hagel’s “For what?” questioning of Petreaus and the ambassador at the time, on Iraq … and when we see the mild-mannered, gentlemanly Defense Secretary Hagel before a similar Senate or House committee hearing today, I’m thinking they, too, have forgotten the real Chuck Hagel … the one who no doubt speaks to his own generals now at the Pentagon in similar fashion. This whole video is great, but if you skip to the “For what?” part from 6:30 on, you’ll be reminded, too.

  24. September 7, 2013 at 6:53 pm

Hi, this is kind of long. It was from FB group, there’s more to it. . .

    http://tinyurl.com/m5c6rsk

THANK YOU, MR. PRESIDENT, FOR STRIKING A BLOW FOR PEACE!
The Left and Right Entirely Missed the Point of Obama Deferring to Congress on Syria
President Obama has used the Syria gas attack to accomplish something stunning: He’s deliberately turned back the clock on presidential military intervention prerogatives to the World War Two paradigm. Whatever happens in Congress now the president has made it much harder for future presidents to pull a George W. Bush stunt and take America into dumb wars.

From now on there’s a twenty first century template that will be applied by the nation when we talk war: ask Congress for permission to throw America’s military might around.

President Obama has just struck a blow for peace. The left and right are so tied up in knots trying to parse the present politics of the situation that they forget that this president thinks long term.

Watched most of the Pope’s prayer vigil for peace from the Vatican (but for that short nap ~ good thing God has a sense of humor!). Even with all the ceremonial trappings and glorious backdrop of an open outdoor event at night in St. Peter’s Square, attended by 100,000 people, this was a phenomenally simple vigil.

I’m hoping all the religions of the world take similar steps to engage their congregations and followers in making inroads toward and praying for peace. Whether one is a Christian or not, the simple words of Jesus might and should resonate in our peaceful hearts, every time we think of them:

    Love one another.

AHOY CHIPS! CHI-I-I-IPS!! Can you hear me?

With recent talk about libraries, how about giving us another night-time ‘BOOKS FOT READING’ thread soon? It’s been a long while since the last one. People can share (ONE BOOK, or author, per comment please) a book/author they haven’t shared here before, telling us why he/she/it is resonated with them or not. The last one was well-received and it actually made little ole me go down to the basement to find a highly recommended book whose storyline I had forgotten and read it anew.

    CHIPS! Did you hear me?

Wondering if PBO, in his upcoming interviews and address, will be able to share further intelligence as to proof of Assad’s culpability. This seems to be the main stumbling block of well-meaning people, and the excuse of those not so well-meaning. With the release of the utterly sickening and soul-crushing videos, proof of the nerve gas attack, no one can remain in denial about that. It’s the convincing re. the source which is still needed. What do y’all think?

    • 147 globalcitizenlinda
      September 7, 2013 at 7:55 pm

no doubt about it, the is a section of people that needs concrete evidence but a number will NEVER believe the evidence in front of them no matter what because they are focused on PBO rather than doing right by the Syrian people and the victims

    • September 7, 2013 at 8:07 pm

      hello dotster…

I do not think that it would matter…Congress got intelligence briefings yet the outcome is still undecided…

if PBO did share…would the American People believe him..

Truth is, Congress and many others have plenty of evidence of the harm that guns are doing in this country, and still they refuse to act. 20 first graders were gunned down in cold blood, and it didn’t stir them. Some people won’t act no matter what.

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/09/07/senators-propose-syria-sign-chemical-weapons-convention/ So they think he’ll sign a piece of paper and abide by those rules? Why would they think that? He’s not abiding by the global norm of NO CHEMICAL WEAPONS NOW!

    • September 7, 2013 at 8:14 pm

a man who gasses his own people including 400 children needs more than a time-out….it is not like this was an accident….there was no remorse on the part of Assad regime….and what happens if he gasses more children…what will Congress say then/

    • 171 theo67
      September 7, 2013 at 10:07 pm

Why would he sign a treaty in 45 days, when he can see the world wavering on a response to his evil? Why wouldn’t he play a game of chicken, knowing there’s a low likelihood of consequences. In fact, the world’s hesitation might even cause him to gas more people in defiance. The US media has decided this is all about President Obama, so why should Assad fear for his own safety or life?
