The threads from Jamil Smith on Mike Bloomberg, Mike Viser on John kerry’s education,French skills, and Smartypants, via Dudette, not to mention joke upthread about Bin Laden for me chrystallize the Old White Plutocrat’s dilemma.
It is increasingly true that the USA is multi-colored, multi-cultural, repectful of education, and interested in actual freedom and rights.

The days are growing short for the Mike Bloombergs of this world.

Citizens Union and the spend your billions to buy office worked for Bloomberg but Not for Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina, Jeff Greene in Boca and so on.

Bloomberg’s idiotic remarks were a gift to New Yorkers. Bill deBlasio can campaign on Bloombergs lies for the next 4 days and increase his margins .

The days when Rove sneered at Kerry’s french agility are also faded into the sunset. How cool it is to have a bi-lingual SOS!

And as for the Salon emo left joined up with the RWTP: they will sink into oblivion together.”

        great observations => great comment!

praying voters come out and give deBlasio a huge victory – he sought the votes of NYC by focusing on the priority issues of struggling ppl who make the city run & thrive

just a simple modification: I seem to recall that SOS speaks at least 4 languages fluently (could be wrong about the number but I think its more than two)

Ok, my TOD family, I am back home. I know if my brother was notified of that “way over the top senior moment,” he would have called in the keys to the car and allowed all of the great ingredients for my delicious banana pudding to be overrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr in a New York minute. Keep Sis in the house, neighbors until I can catch a flight out there.

No, I got my ingredients, cooling off in the AC now (it is still very hot out here on the West Coast) and reading some LOL comments. Keep them coming, TOD family.

Now, there is one report that Mark Knoller made that just made me have a ‘Come to the Loud Praise Moment’; I am sooooooooooooooo delighted that our president is playing golf on this lovely day. Great for him. I was hoping that he would do just that. I love our beautiful POTUS. You go on with your brilliant and fineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee self, Mr. President. And Mrs. First Lady do your thing today as well. Let the heads start exploding.

Banana Pudding for my DF being sent through the universe via “Loving TOD Universal Sweets for Enjoyment.” Our President play a great game of golf, and HZ making a delicious banana pudding on West Coast; now that is some American Sweetness for ya. HZ”

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Madrid has been eliminated as a host city for the 2020 Olympics, leaving Tokyo and Istanbul to advance to the final round.

Madrid initially tied with Istanbul as an also-ran in the voting by the International Olympic Committee. Istanbul won the tiebreak vote 49-45.

The winner will now be determined in a second-round vote between the Japanese and Turkish cities.

The saddest thing is that these same Emoprogs were screaming about Syria just months ago. Questioning why Libya and nor Syria. Today, they have willfully developed amnesia and have forgotten that One should be judge by one’s actions and record. Pres has had 4.7yrs as POTUS.

        • 59 globalcitizenlinda
          September 7, 2013 at 4:19 pm

I suspect that even after this the same people will look for another reason to say “no intervention”

by the way, there have been enough images on line to help you decide on the right thing to do – some ignored them, others saw & still being “Anti-Pres.-Obama” is more important than everything else

POTUS to sit down with 6 TV networks on Monday evening.

The POTUS is laying it all out. Informing all. Then the decision is Congress’ to make. To strike or not to strike.

    • 61 carolyn
      September 7, 2013 at 3:56 pm

And, I don’t think Congress wants to make this decision. Not out of noble motivations, but because they are cowards, and are only counting political costs, not human ones.

Bloomberg is systematically showing that Billions can’t buy one class, tolerance, understanding or empathy.

    • September 7, 2013 at 4:18 pm

So other people can enlist their family in campaigns except for AAs?? What a crass and profane man Bloomberg is. And we all know how he feels about our POTUS. UGH.

I hope De Blasio and his family win in a LANDSLIDE.

      • 70 globalcitizenlinda
        September 7, 2013 at 4:25 pm

oh, you can bet that I will NEVER forgive this rich imbecile for what he said about PBO!

his stand on Stop & Frisk & the comments he made removed any hiding place for his bigotry

these comments on Mr. De Blasio & his family are re-affirmation that my opinion of him is correct

        • September 7, 2013 at 4:30 pm

I am not a New Yorker but the first time I listened to de Blasio speak, I thought he was a refreshing candidate. And I found myself over time gravitating to his honesty and integrity. I think his family is absolutely beautiful and they seem to relate well to the general public. I hope he can win the election handily as the polls seem to indicate.

Bloomberg is a billionaire who would rather not soil his hands. He gives me the creeps.

Just kidding, while I was gone I suddenly remembered a ‘new/modern’ past tense usage that a decade or so ago used to drive me berserk = “SNUCK”. I can’t tell you the number of times I’d tell people – children mostly- that there was no such word! Of course, it eventually made its way into the dictionary, so I had to lay down arms and accept it.

Another clear example of how language evolves. I’ve had to accept many changes in language since my youth, but usage is how language is changed and becomes accepted.
One of the most irritating to me, and that I still have not accepted, is the use of “busted” instead of “burst”….but, I think that is becoming common usage too.

I took the library survey too, LL. It was fun, and in taking it, I could picture all the libraries I’ve loved and used: from the wonderful library I walked to in Chicago, out my front door, up the block, across the railroad tracks, into the park and the library with a wonderful, warm children’s room. I can remember the first book I checked out at our library at Harriet B. Sayre Elementary School in Chicago. I worked in the school libraries in junior high and college, and one of the first experiences I arrange for my freshman Composition students, is a tour and explanation of our college library. Every year I am impressed with the innovations and updating, while still holding on to the basics.
I think libraries have stepped into the 21st century and made use of technology as well as any entity I know of. They have used technology to enhance people’s lives, not to confuse it.
So, Bravo to all librarians, the keepers of the freedom flams.

Damn! PBO is focused on asking the American people & the whole global audience to stand up & be counted.

I don’t know if PBO is also doing interviews with international news outlets – the people in these countries need to ponder where we are in this moment

think so too; PBO has given most of his intimate interviews (inside their Chicago home) to Mr. Scott Pelley & also just before or after a key milestone in PBO’s political life

          • September 7, 2013 at 5:24 pm

No that was Steve Croft of 60 Minutes who’s been doing the running biographical interviews since 2007. Pelley is the CBS news anchor. I prefer him to Croft who has become insufferable since PBO took office in 2009.

I don’t know, I’m feeling a sick to my stomach today. I worry for POTUS and the barrage of opposition he faces and I worry about the horrific mess in Syria. I’m torn about what happens next because we don’t know how it will unfold, but how anyone could gas children, it’s just pure evil. This is I’m sure one of the most difficult moments in PBO’s presidency but I now in my heart that he is working to do what is best for the innocent civilians in Syria and for regional and our own national security. I wish clarity and strength for him.

If you guys believe prayer, now is the time, more than ever. Pray for the President, pray for him and all his team to see the best way through the mess, pray for people of integrity and courage to win over the manipulators.

    • 111 globalcitizenlinda
      September 7, 2013 at 5:12 pm

      I suspect most people are conflicted for the same complex reasons you mention – and this is a good position to be;

it is good to pray about it (if you are so inclined), analyze facts & then expect the unexpected from whatever decision PBO makes & the resulting actions.

I already made my (biased) decision based on a personal history of government brutality & the constant wish for someone to act.

      I know other people have different opinions based on complex considerations;

what has bothered me is the push by media & O-haters (on left & right) who are accusing PBO & his team of lying about an intervention he did not seek. PBO’s record does not give any of them a reason to distrust him.

I am also bothered by the double-stands from those who claim the need to protect civilians & also how they constantly switch positions/goal-posts just because PBO has taken a specific stand

      • 112 theo67
        September 7, 2013 at 6:03 pm

I trust President Obama in making this decision. It might not work, might not stop Assad from continuing to gas his own people. But the options available are all bad or worse. I am not sure anyone has any other option. The world has tried diplomacy – and Russia has foiled that approach. They don’t care. Assad has slept peacefully for two years while slaughtering his own people. His wife continued to shop for expensive items until sanctions were imposed – which Russia opposed. I think the President is making the best decision out of a basket of bad ones. And I think he’s right to act. We’ve all seen footage of Kosovo, Ruwanda, the Holocaust – and many others. We all know there are dictators just waiting to see what the world does in this moment. The President is right to act – and I’m sure if someone can come up with a non-military proposal that hasn’t been tried already, and will work against Assad, then I’m sure he’d be willing to consider it. Naysaying the only viable plan presented won’t cut it.
