You’r making my day UT. Thanks.
We all smile.
They are too cute. I pray that their relationship strengthens each of them. I pray for protection for them, a hedge around the to keep them from temptation. I thank God for their presence in my life.
Thank younTOD. Weekends would be miserable without you.
Thank you, TOD!
Good Evening Eveingeorgia. So good to see you. I was thinking of your two days ago. Sometimes I do miss seeing even the regulars in our TOD family. This is so wonderful for me, because here you are (and I see you) thus my mind is at peace. I hope all is fine in your space.
I totally agree with your prayer. I pray for that as well. I went to Pier 1 this afternoon to get some candles to burn in loving memory of my precious mother’s home going remembrance coming up soon; and the ones that I chose are exactly the color of our FLOTUS’s dress in the first photo.
Keep well, Eveingeorgia and we both will continue to pray for the beautiful love that our POTUS and FLOTUS have for each other. It is such a sweet blessing to witness their loving relationship. HZ
I can only dream.
I love how.FLOTUS nose crinkles when she is really tickled.
They both do it, actually… :)
True Theo, I just think hers is cuter :-)
I give them both equal cuteness props! :)
Ok, I kinda gathered that was your position.
President Obama will still have all of his teeth, all of his hair and a flat tummy when he get like in his 60’s and beyond. He is that type to keep himself up. So will First Lady Obama. Always fly!
You are so right Vitaminlover! President Obama will puts some of us 60+ men to shame for not keeping in shape. I must say that VP Joe Biden (who is about my age) and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, also look fantastic. I really think what the First Lady is doing with her emphasis on exercise and proper nutrition will pay life time health dividends for young people in America, long after the Obamas are no longer in office. Looking back, at 67, I wish I had exercised more and carefully watched my diet. One of the things that depresses me the most is having a tummy that makes me look as if I was permanently 9 months pregnant without, of course, the beautiful glow of a pregnant woman.
Nath 67 isn’t old–you’re younger than I am. As long as there is fresh air and sunshine and you get step out into it, you have a lot to live for. And change is possible at any age.
But you know what, nathkatun? It is NEVER too late as long as you are putting in the effort. Some people won’t even try to care for themselves.
Focus, Focus: intervention isn't about whether or not "PBO fails" – its about the world failing #Syria victims by shrugging off CW attack— Linda Kyambadde (@globalcitizenln) September 08, 2013
Oh – well said, GCL. Those who are trying to put this all on President Obama have already failed.
Brava, Linda! Thank you so much for your focus on the moral imperative of not looking the other way when confronted with evil against innocent victims. I’ve really appreciated your tweets and your commentaries because you refuse to look the other way when it comes to Syrian victims. It’s really a sad spectacle to see the so called respectable media people, along with many elected members of Congress, focus on President Obama when they should be focused on the victims, and possible future victims, if the Assad regime is not held accountable and severely punished for committing heinous crimes against humanity.
Please Keep up the fight!
Wondering what FLOTUS is telling POTUS during this trying time.
thank God that both are strong people and have a lot of faith
Globalcitizenlinda, I am so acutely mindful of what their private conversations are in this situation. I personally know of someone who is very close to both of them, and I am told that both POB and FLOTUS are very close in their faith throughout his entire presidency. Some days are harder than others, but he has so very faithful, strong, and praying warriors steady with their prayers and encouragement. FLOTUS is his first and best one. Just like POB has mentioned many times, FLOTUS is the “Rock” of their family. I so respect their love for each other in respecting the power of their personal lives.
I know that I send out my supplications for our president, First Family, his SS Detail, his pilots on both Marine 1, and Air Force One along with the entire staff. There are just so many ways in which we all can just meditate on someone in his administration and ask for guidance, support, protection, alertness, patience, caring attitudes and deeds. These are the times that I find my quiet times be so peaceful because I feel that I a putting out into the Universe the goodness of my active deeds for all who are helping him to perform his duties as our President of these United States and as our CIC.
We will be fine as along as we stay focus, work hard for the 2014 election, and do whatever our hearts have touched us to do to help him.
We support you, Mr. President.
Candles: I chose some lovely ones in color and scents. I tend to stay with the non scented ones, but was tempted to vary them this afternoon.
If Layla is here, Please tell me your favorite color, Layla. I wanted to get a candle for you since you asked me to keep you in a quiet place. That is how I do it. I have a lovely large cream one for my Chips. It is lovely. I have never shared that with Chips or our TOD family, but now you all know. I have had that special space in my music/library for my Chips since I first came here and saw how she carried out such a beautiful and respectful mission for her site. I do not miss a day from using part of my meditation time to lift our Chips up. I know that our president would encourage all of us to keep encouraging each other as we work together on his behalf to keep this beautiful place positive and respectful.
Good Night my Chips and UT. (((((((((((((( Thank you so much UT for all that you do to help Chips)))))))))))))))))HZ
You are simply AWESOME HZ!
Good night HZ! Thank you for always lifting our spirits! As Dr. King was fond of saying: “We have come too far to turn around.” I am absolutely focused on 2014. Our beloved President needs a sane Congress he can work with. All of us, as citizens, must do what ever we can to support our President.
Oh my HZ! You never cease to amaze me! My favorite color is lavender. God bless you!
At a rally in Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill neighborhood, Bill de Blasio responded to a recent interview with Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the man he hopes to succeed in City Hall, calling his charges of racism “very unfortunate and inappropriate.”
Just days before Tuesday’s New York City primary, Bloomberg told New York Magazine, in an interview published Saturday morning, that de Blasio has run a “class-warfare and racist” campaign because of the way in which he has used “his family to gain support,” the outgoing three-term mayor said.
We will hold these #NEWSTAINERS and viciously racists journos accountable ….

@Lawrence Since 20Jan2009 the #GOP have waged an insurgency against #PBO at the risk of the US economy. They're now willing to enable #Assad— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) September 08, 2013
Bob, I just can never say enough to let you know how invaluable you are to people like me who don’t tweet. Every one of your tweets– and especially those directed to the mainstream media people and prominent politicians — powerfully speaks for me. It’s your voice on twitter, as well as the voices of all the other TOD twitter warriors, that challenges all those who would rather forget the TRUTH. I know of no other President who has been targeted by opponents to ensure that he fails; even if it meant destroying the country in the process. I am glad that you constantly remind the media of this reality even though they chose to overlook it. The bottom line is: People who hate President Obama and want to see him fail had no qualms trying to destroying the economy to accomplish their goal. It now appears that they have no qualms, or shame, undermining the country’s National Security, abandoning humanitarian concerns, and enabling brutal regimes violating international law and international norms.
“It now appears that they have no qualms, or shame, undermining the country’s National Security, abandoning humanitarian concerns, and enabling brutal regimes violating international law and international norms.”
Tragically true, nath.
Thank you for your kind words of support!!
Make no mistake about it…this is a re-invention of a 21st century southern strategy aimed at the idea of forming a national coalition of white male libertarians during a time when the rights of women and people of color are on the line.
@TheJusticeDept Yet again white libertarians are attempting to thwart the '3rd Reconstruction' youtube.com/watch?feature=… They Will Fail. cc @VP— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) September 08, 2013
Yes We Can
After all is said and done, these two phenomenal people will have their profound love for each other to hold them tight. I’m very grateful that we’ve been able to witness this unique marriage of love, compassion and tremendous energy, this partnership that propels us forward each and every day, for the good of all. What a lesson in life!!
“What a lesson in life!!”
In_DEED, and beautifully stated meta.
Thanks, guys. We live in interesting times.
You speak so much Truth, Meta! How in the world can any honest person (male/female) not admire and respect POTUS and FLOTUS? What unites both POTUS and FLOTUS is their dedication to service.
Obamacare: New fight, old tactics
Opponents of the healthcare law are following in the footsteps of Southern segregationists half a century ago.
Last month, Americans took pride in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. Unfortunately, we are also revisiting a far darker episode in our history, a civil rights-era conflict that tells us much about the hurdles facing President Obama’s Affordable Care Act, the most ambitious piece of social legislation enacted in almost half a century.
That episode was the “massive resistance,” a policy pushed by a phalanx of Southern white politicians, journalists and local worthies who organized in the 1950s and early ’60s when the courts, the federal government and the civil rights movement pressed for desegregation of public schools and the end of Jim Crow racism in American life. Rather than consent to the 1954 Supreme Court decision in Brown vs. Board of Education, which ordered an end to segregation in public schools, Southern governors and legislatures declared that they would refuse to implement the law and, if necessary, close schools. Their policy would later extend to efforts to shut down pools, parks and other public facilities that courts had ordered integrated.
In Congress, the Southern delegation stood firm against federal action in support of civil rights. Across the South billboards went up: “Impeach Earl Warren,” the chief justice who presided over the court’s 9-0 decision in the landmark 1954 case.
Today, the Republican opponents of Obamacare, and especially those hailing from the old Confederacy, have dusted off just about every tactic and ruse once deployed by Southern segregationists. House Republicans have taken 40 votes to repeal Obamacare. But the real battle over the fate of the law will take place at the state and local level….
It’s been a very hope-filled day for me, everything considered. And tonight, I had a long conversation with a great friend of mine, one of those “big thinker” types, whom I’m lucky to have in my life, along with others, since I always learn a lot.
We were discussing “everything Obama,” also mentioning how Pope Francis seems to be one of those leaders, like our President, who seem to pop up in groups in history, just when we need them. We were talking about the fact this could be the start of a “new world order,” and we both said we couldn’t wait to see what happened next, even though neither of us have a clue as to what will happen next.
I mentioned to her that it had dawned on me today, while watching the Pope’s prayer vigil for peace – which I think supports the President’s moral positions, too – that I “see everything through the prism of Obama.” (And I’m damn proud of it!)
And since she also quotes from books and films constantly, she thought of the perfect line out of “Troy,” the film on the Trojan War (and based more or less on the “Iliad”), and we likened it to how we might feel, if we live long enough in our own lives to see this all play out. I found the specific line she quoted:
Odysseus: If they ever tell my story let them say that I walked with giants. Men rise and fall like the winter wheat, but these names will never die. Let them say I lived in the time of Hector, tamer of horses. Let them say I lived in the time of Achilles.
Or, as she and I both said to each other, “Let them say we lived in the time of Obama.”
Simply beautiful, Jacqueline. Thank you!!
“Let them say we lived in the time of Obama.”
Thanks, Bob. Hope we all live a lot longer, to enjoy more of it!
Oh, yes! Cheers to that….”We lived in the time of Obama.” Loving every minute of it.
Yes.We.Are. Every minute!
Very, very moving, JO’B. As I listened to PBO’s Nobel Prize speech once again tonight, I was struck with how very wise and profound he is about so very many things. That he calls upon this wisdom at the best times and speaks directly to people’s hearts. It’s just staggering that he is so dismissed. But I know that there are many of us who recognize this walk with giants, this time of Obama with gratefulness.
meta – Funny you should mention the Noble Peace Prize. My friend and I discussed that of all the individuals or groups that saw Barack Obama’s greatness, early on, wasn’t that the one entity who seems now to have been the most prescient?
Jacq – you capped off the evening. What a wonderful quote, and so apt for our time.
Thanks so much. Makes me happy to think of it!

love it, Jackie! How blessed we are!
Yes, we are, Barb! And I’m blessed to have met my BCFFAA in the age of Obama! Eh?
Indeed, JOB! For me, no matter what the simple minded Obama haters may say, I am so thankful that I was lucky to be alive when the majority of Americans decided to elect and re-elect a sane, compassionate and wise leader.
I’m standing up in the same line you are, nath!
Interesting…though not surprising
With help from the wizards at Twiangulate, we identified every congressional Twitter account, then analyzed which other accounts they follow most often. Read on for rankings of which news organizations, journalists, and other politicians members of Congress follow, and which congressmen and women have the most and least followers. The takeaway, on Twitter as in life: The two parties don’t listen to each other very much.
Beautiful FLOTUS and her fabulous wardrobe:)
Big hugs and prayers all around TOD! Keep the Light burning in your Spirit, we can ground Goodwill and Peace on this planet, Oh, Yes We Can! http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=PBO
Dog is staring me down…must be bedtime:) Night all…
^^^ One of the reasons I don’t have a dog, among others. They tell you when to go to bed. Ha! Goodnight, df!
I think I’m going to bed myself, JO’B, using your shared quote as a final wave. Good night all!
‘Men rise and fall like the winter wheat, but these names will never die…Let them say I lived in the time of [King, Kennedy and Obama].’~ Odysseus
Awww, beautiful! King, Kennedy and Obama!
Made the mistake of turning on Bill Moyers’ show, and turns out Phil Donahue has come out of antiquity to guest-host and, oh, in case you didn’t know, he’s disappointed in President Obama.
They are literally been dug up to pounce on our great President. Barf.
Speaking of being, my being is heading to bed. Goodnight, y’all. Thanks for the pretty images, UT!
You have got to be kidding me. I thought Donahue was dead. My goodness!!!
Most people wouldn’t have a clue who Phil Donohue is, or was… He’s a nobody. And I doubt the President is going to lose a second of sleep over Phil Donohue’s “disappointment”. As the President told Matt Damon at the WH Correspondence Dinner, “right back at ya, buddy”!
Guess what? Phil Donohue says he is disappointed in our POTUS, well who gives a dam.
Here’s a link of 117 photos of FLOTUS that Smiling Lady shared on twitter. Of course you know I looked at each before signing off.
haven’t seen any talk about this, but i wonder if president obama’s plan is to go after assad himself in syria. completely opposite from the republican response to saddam hussein, there is no way president obama will start bombing huge swaths of syrian cities, and instead will target individual targets to end this bloodshed. looking at the fate of mommar qadaffi and osama bin laden, if i was assad, i’d be very, very nervous right about now. for all the sake of all the world’s children, barack, go get this murderer. we’e got your back my man!!!
I think the US is forbidden from assassinations of political leaders via covert action. I can’t see the President going that route. He’d be deposing a country’s leadership, and robbing them of their democratic rights to pick their own leaders.
His father left him in charge, despot.
The President said no to regime change. It’s not going to happen.
PBO said he will not go take assad out directly – and I believe that because PBO said it;
what might happen to assad could be from the rebel side – there is no telling what they would do if they got a chance to locate him.
it may be that assad meets the same end as qadaffi – that is end his life on earth at the hands of his own people
have you seen meta’s fab cookbook? i know we all go to her blog for great dessert recipes, and just to drool. but it seems meta’s been busy putting it all together, and now we can get the whole shebang, with beautiful photos, into our hands. and just in time for the holidays :)
meta, congrats on this stellar piece of work. stellar, as in, you’re a star!
Thanks for sharing! Her blog is fantastic – so many pics and recipe links. Just in time for the holiday, indeed!
You’re a peach!
“At last! It’s with great pleasure and excitement today that I announce the publication of my first ecookbook: The Global Pastry Table, pastries & desserts with international style for the modern kitchen, a collection of 94 recipes that incorporate the influences, aromas and flavors of our interconnected world. These are approachable recipes for home cooks who want to expand their pastry repertoire with unique and flavorful cakes, cookies, custards, tarts, ice cream and other pastries using familiar ingredients. And it’s now available as an ebook on iTunes and Amazon.
The backstory for this project began about three years ago with my deep interest in the increasing globalization of our tables. We can readily see that the modern kitchen reflects traditions and recipes from all over the world, especially now that we have greater access to quality ingredients to create and build upon regional global cuisine. When I set out to write a cookbook, I wanted to convey some of the promise of these cross-cultural currents we experience in our everyday lives within the beautiful realm of pastry. So I took what I believe are some of the most interesting and delicious ideas and influences and wove them into this collection. I call on both Old World traditions and New World approaches to convey what I think of as the global kitchen, a place where we can enjoy these creative resources.”
Congratulations and deepest gratitude, meta, for your contribution to humanity!!
I’m blushing, Bobfr! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your kindness. It’s been a long labor of love and I’m exhausted/excited to finally release it.
Oh that is gorgeous that is! And lots of attention to the basics.
Thank you so much, a4alice!
OMG, susanne, thank you so much. You’re the SWEETEST.
oops, again late to the party! you are so very welcome, my dear meta, and all thanks go to you for creating this beautiful collection of wondrous treats! in our daily lives, we all need sweetness and beauty–an entire book of delicious treasures is a true gift to the world.
Can’t sleep…stuffy head. So, I found this to share: http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2013/09/06/2581861/watchdog-finds-major-overpayments-food-stamps-17-million-farm-programs/
Crop insurance and rural farm development programs issued over $17 million in high-dollar improper payments during the 2012 fiscal year, but the five food assistance programs conservatives frequently criticize as fraud-riddled issued exactly zero such payments. The numbers come from a report released Wednesday by the Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Inspector General report.
In total, the USDA reported 239 separate high-dollar overpayments with a total value of $20.3 million across all its programs. The federal crop insurance program misspent $14.6 million in 70 different high-dollar overpayments, and programs that provide conservation resources to farmers misspent $2.7 million in 53 different overpayments. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps) and four other anti-hunger aid programs targeted at the poor reported zero high-dollar overpayments.
Imagine that…and you know what ones Republicans think we should keep and which one causes the ” takers” to rely so heavily on “big govt”…how pathetic. Can’t get rid of THEIR fraud, waste and abuse! Everyone should know about this.
Another inconvenient truth. http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2013/9/7/scientists-link-2012extremeweathertomanmadeclimatechange.html

Scientists say atmospheric pollution contributed to half of the extreme weather-related events of last year
Wow df! You are a busy ‘stuffy headed girl’! Going to bed now, have a wonderful day!
Hope you had a good night at work….I’m tired, but my ears are clogged, head clogged and it’s annoying! Thought I’d see if anyone here was awake:)
as a side note I was going to try to find Al Jazeer on Comcast so I googled to see what channel they use and ran into a lot of people all ticked off because Al Jazeer was being “forced” on them and there was some boycott Comcast till they took Al Jazeer off. What a bunch of hooey
I noticed @msnbc isn't one of the interviews for #obama that is wise as they have become anti obama channel. http://t.co/0I5Fe5q5cI— Perseus (@jovie131_mike) September 08, 2013
Yes no msnbc that is wise, I think it’s also a message to them.
No MSNBC doesn’t bother me, Jovie.
hold it jovie. I thought you were hades. are you Perseus now?
I’m amazed at CNN putting Newt on that show Crossfire. That is the main reason I will not watch it, that and that Cupp woman and Van jones. I’m no fan of Van Jones either.
Stephanie cutter is one of us though, a strident obama former staffer.
I like Ms. Cutter, but I can not stand Newt. To me it’s like watching Rush Limbaugh.
Watching Newt would be like watching Limbaugh.

Jovie…how’s your dog?? And, OF COURSE BENGHAZI! When all else fails, Benghazi. Geez. Give it a rest, RW
Thanks for asking. I went home 2 get some rest bc I mean my family means everything 2 me and my dog is part of my family.
She’s doing better this morning, temp went down from 106 to 104. She walked and peed and had a little water.
But she was really sick. Good thing I brought her in.
They r taking more tests to determine if its anything more than just a urinary Tract infection.
It’s only cost me 1800 bucks so far.
I hope they pinpoint exactly what’s wrong and get her up and running like new:) Expensive night….as long as she’ll be alright, it was worth every penny.
Yes. Organs all checked out radiogram and ultrasound is negative.
That’s good and no fluid in stomach.
Dear Jovie: sending you and your dog healing thoughts. I love dogs and know how important they are in the family. I hope your dog recovers fully soon.
Tea Party lawmakers are full of alot of B.S. stop making up excuses. If it doesn’t concern them that childrens are being gas to death, that thousands have been gassed to death. If it doesn’t concern them that Assas is using chemical weapons on his people, stop playing politics. A vote against President Obama is a vote for Assad. But they don’t care.I remember first learning about the Jews being rounded up and murder by Adolf Hitler and I recall asking the question, How in the world could something like this happen? I just hope we don’t be asking that same question again.
Treaties should mean something, and they mean nothing if not enforced. That’s why Congress must authorize a military response to Syria’s use of chemical weapons. If it doesn’t, Syria might against unleash another chemical weapons attack – possibly against a neighbor. Rogue nations such as North Korea would feel emboldened to follow in Syria’s footsteps.
Yes, you can argue that the international community has been inconsistent in responding to use of chemical weapons. Despite the 1925 Geneva Protocol, which banned the use of chemical and biological weapons after World War I, the world failed to act when Saddam Hussein used chemical weapons during Iraq’s war with Iran, and in fact, the United States actually collaborated with Saddam during the time of these attacks. It also failed to act when Saddam killed thousands of Kurds with these weapons in 1988.
That’s all the more reason to act now. Had the United States and international community responded forcefully to Saddam’s use of chemical weapons, we might have deterred despots like Syria’s Bashar Assad from doing the same.
read the editorial and was a little surprised at the source – is it the Sacrmento Bee?
isn’t Sacramento one of those area where there at least more of that increasingly rare species ( a California Republican)?
excellent DF I went in to the comments because they were so horrible and put links to the things I’ve been tweeting. Hopefully someone who is just reading out there will see them and think again about WHY the US must act to stop this.
Going to try and sleep some more…see you all in a few hours:)
