MoooOOOooorning early birds, Happy Sunday!
Goodmorning and have a good day everyone. Catch up is over
Morning elo, morning early birds!
Good morning Chips! Too wound up from the night shift, cannot sleep! Thought I would hang here for a few….
Hi chips… I am at hospital tending to my dog, a little tired but whatevs.
Jovie, what happened????
She has a urinary tract infection and want to make sure the source isn’t just bad food or something. So all her tests so far are negative and her temp is coming down. Responding to fluids and anti biotics.
Thanks for asking.
These pets are like family, when something happens it consumes you.
The poor thing, but brilliant to hear she’s recovering and responding to treatment. As someone who prefers dogs to humans (!!!), I know how you feel Jovie, give her a hug for us.
Jovie, so glad your dog is responding to treatment. Urinary tract infections are painful and I hope she’s getting some pain relief as well. Also hope you have a chance to rest and catch up on your sleep today.
Jovie, I’m so glad she is doing better… wishing her a speedy & full recovery.
Sorry to hear that your dog is not in the best of health.
hope that with the care you & the vet are providing, its health will continue to improve
Jovie….we know just how you are feeling, and feel the same way about our canine family. We adore them….they make our lives complete. We have also made emergency runs to weekend vets, and taken our little ones to specialists for ultrasounds, to canine ophthamologists for treatment….they live with us. As I type this, our precious Chanel is sitting on the floor beside me…..
UTI’s are somewhat common in dogs, I think, and our vet has had us buy a new food, that is especially for the urinary tract health. It’s URINARY SO. He said it’s somewhat new, and he talked with other vets about it, so recommended it for our girl. She likes the taste of it, and eats it well. She hasn’t had a uti yet, but if we can prevent it, we sure will.
There is just nothing like the unconditional love we get from our pets. When I’m with her, the world is okay.
Thinking of you right now.
Oh Linda, I completely missed that Jovie’s dog isn’t well, was it an accident or is it an illness?
Dog was mentioned yesterday – very briefly before Jovie went out to attend to it.
at the bottom of the most previous post, there is a brief status update => very high temps attributed to potential urinary tract infection (but vet still doing test)
Thanks Linda, Jovie just updated me, the dog’s responding well to treatment, which is brilliant.
I’m sorry to hear of this terrible scare for your pet. Hope progress comes soon.
I hope your dog gets better from her infection. You and your dog are in my thoughts and prayers, Jovie.
Morning Ms. Chips!
Morning everyone at TOD!
wishing each a great and fruitful day.
Moooooorning Linda, have a wonderful day too!

Hear it’s here dumbass!
Pelosi wrote in her Saturday letter:
“As Senator Boxer noted in her statement before committee, ‘And then in 2003, we passed the Syria Accountability Act by a vote of 89 to 4. I wrote that bill with Senator Santorum. We had a huge vote in favor of it. This is what it says: ‘acquisition of weapons of mass destruction…threatens the security of the Middle East and the national security interests of the United States.’”
This Syria business keeps me from sleeping well at night, so I decided just to have my President’s back, wear my Obama t-shirt proudly to our local Democrats’ picnic this afternoon, put back on my Obama necklace (I had trouble with the chain and eventually stopped wearing it after the election, thought I didn’t need that good luck charm anymore) and just continue to have faith in Pres. Obama’s wisdom.
I’m torn myself about the best action in Syria. And we accuse the press and GOP of making this all about what it means for Obama politically, but I confess that’s big in my thoughts, too. Whatever he does, I believe he’ll be true to his own beliefs.
Finally, I’m imposing a news blackout on myself, otherwise I’ll just stay in a bad mood.
I know, the news is totally anti obama. It’s devolved into a free for all.
I think the difference between the press and ordinary people’s take on “what Syria means to PBO” is that :
=> most people are wishing/praying for him to make the best decision in complex situation without any good options;
=> the press & most politicians are looking for how this Syria debate & vote can make PBO look bad & loose political power;
Most people I know believe that given PBO’s track record & the person he is, he will not make a decision unless he has weighed ALL options & decided what is best for the country & the world – even if it is not politically good for him
Want more evidence of Dems who are shamelessly back-stabbing PBO?
well, this morning (of all mornings), we have George Stephanopoulos give a platform to Benghazi – something gop has been trying to bring back into the Syria debate.
thank God, I will not be tuning in – but the rightwingers are already coming out of the woodwork in anticipation
Today I talk to Gregory Hicks abt the night of the attack on the U.S. consulate in #Benghazi on @ThisWeekABC.— GeorgeStephanopoulos (@GStephanopoulos) September 08, 2013
See? Benghazi Benghazi Benghazi. The whole thing revolves around Petreas as he was the one in charge of safe house at the time, though he gets free pass.
of course the media & whole beltway is either scared of Petreas or are silently routing for him to be a future POTUS (that is where they have elevated him).
they can’t question Petreas when there is a person they revel in attacking – PBO
Unbelievable, what disgusting ‘journalism’ from Stephanopoulos – Benghazi has **** all to do with Syria, but he’s conspiring with these people to try and undermine the President with this bullshit at such a critical time. **** him.
GM Chips and TOD friends. I am sure George got this idea from his friend Hannity. This is disgusting.
Morning COS, really can’t believe he’s doing this, no words.
that is the type of message I sent him – when money from ratings takes over one’s soul.
names like Judas come to mind when people pull stuff like that.
I also wonder given his prior associations with WJC & HRC & how it ended if there is a personal motive
They are so desperate, they’re pathetic, Chips. They haven’t the depth or the intelligence to have a serious and thoughtful discussion on Syria. At heart this is all about sports and they’re sports commentators. This is a game to them–it’s about whether PBO wins or loses and not about the dead children or the implications for other countries in the middle east. Think how much easier it is to comment on a game–especially one where you make up the rules and stack the deck– and how hard it is to try to grasp complexity. In his press conference in Russia, PBO referred to parlor games. And that’s really what it is. Stephanopoulos is a shallow little man whose background is in PR, not journalism. So he promotes, spins, twists and pirouettes to turn any situation–even the gravest–into something trivial that he can play with. I personally cannot think of anything in the wide world that I would not rather do–even dig for grubs in my backyard–than watch an idiot like Stephanopoulos or any other of the Sunday clowns.
“At heart this is all about sports and they’re sports commentators. This is a game to them–it’s about whether PBO wins or loses and not about the dead children or the implications for other countries in the middle east.”
Jackie, you said it all, that sums the whole thing up absolutely perfectly.
Staphylococcus has been on my list of creeps ever since that debate with HRC in 2008. He is a sensationalist, not a journalist.
well he has to get the viewers some home. Much of the media has been steadily losing ratings and although Fox News is still high up there they are losing ratings as well. The worse hit are CNN and MSNBC because they have lost credibility. ABC has taken a big hit as well so Stephanassholeoupos has to get his ratings some how.
It’s funny that they are losing ratings for being sensationalist, yet they have to be sensationalist in order to get their ratings. Oh the conundrum of the rwnjs and “professional left”. They have made their beds, now they must lay in them.
I just finished his 1999 book “All Too Human”. I cannot believe he was hired to be the WH Communications Director – immature, self-absorbed and incompetent. The reason he is doing a piece on Benghazi is because the Syria strategy/operation is LEAK-FREE.
My interview w/ President @BarackObama on #Syria will air on @CNN in the US & around the world at 6PM ET Monday in @CNNSitRoom— Wolf Blitzer (@wolfblitzer) September 08, 2013
How to lose your house over $44 wapo.st/15IORd6 #America— Washington Post (@washingtonpost) September 08, 2013
Isn’t this nice! Out ya go old man.
Damn! what is the world coming to
This reminds me of a story that was in the New Yorker not long ago entitled Taken about civil forfeiture.
“Under civil forfeiture, Americans who haven’t been charged with wrongdoing can be stripped of their cash, cars, and even homes.
…Hundreds of state and federal laws authorize forfeiture for cockfighting, drag racing, basement gambling, endangered-fish poaching, securities fraud, and countless other misdeeds.
…You needn’t be found guilty to have your assets claimed by law enforcement; in some states, suspicion on a par with “probable cause” is sufficient. Nor must you be charged with a crime, or even be accused of one…”
NBC Today has gone wild-eyed on Syria today. They aired about 10 seconds of video, said sarin attack can be verified but there is no proof about who is responsible and that is in dispute. They showed protest demonstrations in multiple cities across the country. They then said that Obama’s whole presidency is on the line with this strike proposal, that if he does not get congressional approval he will “take a hit from which he cannot recover”. So that is the framing they’re setting up. It was all really too much excitement, like xmas morning for the news media. No restraint or attempt at balanced reporting in evidence.
When you think how the media were cheerleaders for Iraq, Dotster, an utterly immoral war – yet they’re cheerleading opposition to a military intervention to save people’s lives?
this, this , this, this ……, this, is what has me so upset with so many!
couple that with a significant number the world taking Putin’s & Assad’s words over PBO’s evidence & I can’t think straight.
It sounds to me that this is why the GOP are gaming for no strike because they are trying to take Obama’s presidency down no matter what. The media is disgusting and vile.
It’s very short-sighted. Say they succeed at bringing down President Obama over this Syria thing (unlikely). When he’s the most popular political figure in the world. He’s trying to do the right thing, with very few options. He’s put the country back on the right track, and held back some of the evil from the right. And if they succeed in “bringing him down” – then what? What happens to the country on the world stage, after plotting and conniving to do nothing in the face of unspeakable horror? What happens to the credibility of the United States, with some people lamenting over the good old days of George Bush’s “decisiveness”, versus the reasoned, caring deliberations of a good man named President Obama? What happens around the world as more bad people realize the US will only act when oil profits are concerned, and that the American people are very gullible to media influence? It’s bad.
The media has played a very dangerous game by positioning Syria as a win/lose battle for President Obama. They’ve put the country in a very dangerous position.
Guest Lineups for the Sunday News Shows
ABC’s “This Week” — White House chief of staff Denis McDonough; Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas; Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill; Gregory Hicks, a former State Department official
NBC’s “Meet the Press” — McDonough; Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M.; Reps. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, Peter King, R-N.Y., and Loretta Sanchez, D-Calif.
CBS’ “Face the Nation” — McDonough; Reps. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., Justin Amash, R-Mich., and Elijah Cummings, D-Md.
CNN’s “State of the Union” — McDonough; Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del.; Reps. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., Jim McGovern, D-Mass., Howard “Buck” McKeon, R-Calif., Barbara Lee, D-Calif., and Gerry Connolly, D-Va.
This Week has Cruz – and will be discussing Benghazi?
Forecast: lots of garbage to come out of so many today.
I think I’ll go for a verrrrrrrrrrrry long walk Linda, don’t want my Sunday ruined!
Agree totally: “At heart this is all about sports and they’re sports commentators. And that’s really what it is.”
President Obama has finally exposed the media and both political parties as the lying, hypocritical and feckless people that they’ve always been.
Media Outlets Spitting Mad At Obama For Spoiling Their Plans To Cash In On War (9/2/13)
Good Morning….and where is John McCain this morning?…don’t see him listed as permanent guest today….something occurred to me…didn’t PBO decide to send this to congress after meeting with McCain? I really don’t know what I am thinking here other than something I can’t put my finger on….
LOL!! Yep, old Johnny Mac finally got it right.
I believe he spoke to McCain after he made public his decision to put this to Congress.
You are right…but still…there is just something that I feel I’m missing…have you ever had that feeling?…like 1 + 1 doesn’t add up to 2?…now don’t get me wrong…I fully trust that PBO knows how to make it add up or why it doesn’t add up………so on that note, I am going to proceed to make fig preserves and pear preserves to enjoy this winter on biscuits.
reason Mccain is not on the Sunday talk show lineup today is because this round, he is now in agreement with PBO & even demanding more scope of intervention.
his presence on shows is good for ratings ONLY if he is contradicting PBO;
same rule applies to all Dems, celebrities, politicians & African Americans intellectuals: “want prominent & un-interrupted TV air time, say something nasty about PBO”
It’s all about being anti- Obama. How many time have we heard this can make of break his presidency ? They are hoping that he fails.
another favorite phrasing : “this is PBO’s Katrina”. Oh, crap!
Hi Kathryn, McCain will be on Telemundo’s “Enfoque” to discuss Syria – Sundays just wouldn’t be the same without him, eh?
@LiberalPhenom @lovelyladypa And the MSM is over-saturated with those types – a bunch of extremely wealthy Libertarians posing as Liberals!— (@aspirational12) September 08, 2013
The corporate overlords who run the media realize that young people may no longer react positively to old GOP white males. Pt.1— (@aspirational12) September 08, 2013
So they hire a bunch of younger (white) males/females, most of whom are affluent & direct descendants of those old GOP white males. Pt. 2— (@aspirational12) September 08, 2013
These "young" hires have internalized much of the nasty, racial bigotry of their parents but are able to hide it on the surface better. Pt.3— (@aspirational12) September 08, 2013
These "young" hires are able to give lip service to "sexy" causes like LGBT equality, weed legalization without lifting a finger. Pt. 4— (@aspirational12) September 08, 2013
Meanwhile, issues of economic equality, voting rights, immigration reform, gun control, racial & gender equality are virtually ignored. Pt 5— (@aspirational12) September 08, 2013

When was the last time you read a tweet from @KatrinaNation lamenting the GOP's blocking a gun-control bill despite 90% public support?— (@aspirational12) September 08, 2013
going at the useless media types very hard & I like it
I am singularly unimpressed by a "young" face on cable TV spewing Libertarian drivel while quoting MLK. Pt. 7— (@aspirational12) September 08, 2013
we have a very long way to go to convince people to focus on the victims.
I think we need to send our thoughts to the media outlets to challenge their current emphasis on PBO & ignore the victims (or bring them as just an after-thought)
How many times in the past almost five years have we heard this crap that this time the President’s whole tenure is on the line. His presidency may never recover from this…….healthcare SCOTUS decision, Citizens United, auto bailout, fiscal cliff…..these made up scenarios are endless.
Two weeks from now, the meme will have changed. POTUS will be surviving, in spite of them, and no doubt thriving, which will anger them.
I think that article from Forbes about the media being spitting mad at him for not starting a war for them to exploit, says it all. He took away their shiny object and toy.
Also, he will not respond on Snowden or Greenwald, and goes on about his and our business. When asked what he and Putin said about Snowden, they were told…..he didn’t come up in our conversation. They were mad at that. No stupid followup gotcha questions possible.
We never watch Sunday morning shows, and they are losing viewers. In many ways, they are just talking to themselves with their small audiences.
carolyn, you are 100% right.
So according to them if Congress vote no should POTUS give up the last 3 years.
I posted this in a comments section of an editorial that DF had tweeted last post. It’s just a short list of links to articles, papers and posts that I’ve tweeted. I did it for any of the readers that weren’t commenting but wanted to see another point of view.
In case you have the opportunity to post in comments of other online articles, here’s the links so that you all have them as well.

Good morning, TODville. I see today the media is on full CODE BLUE.
Meta, I am so HOPELESSLY behind with everyone’s news, I completely missed the news about your cookery book – it looks and sounds beaaaaaaautiful!!! Congratulations legend!!!
Beautiful! Even the cover looks delicious. Congrats Meta.
Isn’t the cover stunning Alma?
Almablanca and Chips, it’s been a very long haul and it feels great to at last launch this project. I love the cover, too. It’s an old piece of wrapping paper I bought years ago. It’s made by a company called BomoArt.com. They’re in Budapest and are the kindest people and very sweet to give me permission to use it for the cover.
That cover really is gorgeous Meta, it’s amazing that it’s from wrapping paper you bought, I assumed it was done by some spectacularly brilliant artist! Warmest congratulations again, can’t wait to get it!
The people who work at BomoArt are in fact artists who are really dedicated to producing beautiful stuff in the old European tradition. Just the coolest people with a great sense of humor, too. Their Facebook page is a hoot.
We really have super accomplished members of TOD. Of corse PBO always attracts the best. Kudos Meta!
OMG, TODers are just the best people. You’re a crew of sweethearts.
Morning everybody! My politics free wknd continues. Planning to waste the day away reading some books, but…
Ugh i know I’ve said i was too through with this mess but i read this on twitter and just has to laugh. Its all nothing but a bs game. Cries of Obama should ask Congress and as usual this:
“@meetthepress: Fmr. Rep. Jane Harman on reluctance for #Syria action in Congress: “They want it to pass, they just don’t want to vote for it.” #MTP”
And yet the Obama admin is the one being pegged as disingenuous?
And being a black "critic" of Pres Obama is GOLD right now. But be warned – that golden media coach turns into a pumpkin in 2017. Pt. 11— (@aspirational12) September 08, 2013
Oh yes!!! Those critics got another thing coming if they think that they will be given front row seats at the next Presidential inauguration. Now I do believe that people like Revs Al and Jesse will always have a seat because they’ve been out in front for years fighting the good fight, though Jesse sometimes sticks his foot in his mouth, but still Jesse has been a warrior for us. But these other critics, all of them will be in line to get on Tavis Smiley’s show on PBS.
Good morning all. Once again, it is lovely to start the day with the smiling faces of PBO and Flotus. Makes all the other ugly stuff going on seem less harsh. PBO carries on just the same in spite of it all. God Bless him.
Rise and Shine!
