You’re soooooooo right Taiping, the planet was truly blessed in 08 and 2012!
Safe travels Taiping!
Good Morning ToDers. I am happy PBO is my President. That’s all I wanted to say. Not gonna spoil my mood today turning on pundiots.
By the way, is that PBO walk down the “I busted OBL corridor” the swaggiest of swaggas or what? That cool long stride is something to behold. Naughty mat naughty mat naughty mat
That’s the earliest naughty mat requirement EVER, Zizi!!!!! Moooooorning!
Morning? I have set a record? Can I has a prize for that?……Like Wet POTUS? Since I’m already on the naughty mat, I might as well indulge myself.
Good morning, Ms. Chips!
Danny Boy, how cute.
Our President is truly a magnificent man. He is not playing and I trust how is leading this country.
Good Morning Chipsticks….Extended Night Owls/Early Birds!
Huh? US relaxing sanctions on Iran? Wow!! PBO's making some complex moves @cnn— zizi2 (@zizii2) September 11, 2013
I keep trying to reconcile why Congress – especially the GOP members – are so hesitant to vote in favor of giving the President the authorization to strike Syria IF the diplomatic proposal doesn’t pan out. I mean, this is a party whose members are typically gung ho about going to war; people who like to show the world how big and bad the US is; people who are looking at the profits for themselves and their corporate buddies from a military conflict.
Of course there is the obvious reason – the GOP will not vote for proposals that support this President’s position.
Some feel that the military strike doesn’t go far enough…profits are minimized from a limited military engagement…only all-out war – one that would probably be extended indefinitely due to the nature of the conflict — will generate the monetary gains they seek. [Yes, there's some cynicism included in this reason for sure.]
There are liberals who will NEVER see a good reason for ANY military conflict. War is bad…period. There are no shades of gray. Moral responsibility does not offset their uncompromising beliefs to any degree.
There may be claims that they are listening to the wants of the American People; people who are war-weary; people who depend on the misinformation of the media. But this is a party who in recent history has not listened to the wants of its constituency but has acted based on the presumption that THEY are smarter and know what is best for the American people.
I think that the GOP Congress has painted itself into a corner. How do they claim outrage and revulsion at the use of chemical weapons against innocent people – especially children – when they are unwilling to vote for gun reform that would protect the lives of children here in the US? How can they claim a moral responsibility to the world when they are voting to appeal healthcare and doing all they can to obstruct its implementation; trying to take away food stamps and other safety nets; doing little or nothing to create jobs; and going out of their way to destroy the education system in this country? How can they claim to be fighting for democracy when voter suppression has become a part of their mission statement? How can they claim any level of humanitarianism when their brand of immigration reform is some variation of self-deportation?
Our Congress has become so dysfunctional with so many members suffering from ODS, they cannot even be effective when it comes to matters of national security.
SW, I think the situation is so fluid that we don’t know what even this dysfunctional Congress will do or if it will be asked to do anything in the end. This may ultimately become a UN action if Putin can be persuaded that it’s in his best interest to push Assad out of the way. As for the Congress, it must change or the US as we know it can’t function. As it’s presently constituted, the US House has stopped operating as a branch of government. It is simply an anchor to progress, pushing the US backward in time, impeding the economy, and undermining our status in the world. That makes it a moral imperative to vote these people out in 2014, despite redistricting and dollars and anything else thrown in our way.
“…the US House has stopped operating as a branch of government. It is simply an anchor to progress, pushing the US backward in time, impeding the economy, and undermining our status in the world.”
I had to do work last night after the speech and didn’t subject myself to rand Paul. I come here this a.m. to read last night’s posts, checked twitter.
Did Rand Paul even run his videotaped stunt? What did he say? No one is talking about it.
Morning 57, didn’t listen to him either, if you want a morning laugh here he is:
I find it highly amusing that NO ONE is talking about it or what he said. Persona non grata.
Oh, more Danny pictures please.
Is Dee Dee Myers a Republican? She sounds like she’s got an ax to grind!
Funny how one might think that, but alas, she’s Former Clinton Press Secretary.
Hey everybody. PBO’s got MSM spinning their wheels and I LIKE it.
So do I! I keep telling people that it’s not contempt or mistrust that is driving PBO’s detractors in the MSM or elswhere – it’s fear of his competence and uncanny ability to navigate extremely complex situations. The better he does, the more hostile the MSM becomes and they are at a feverish pitch with anti-Obama anger right now

Rise and Shiiiine!!
“Woke up to Cokie Roberts saying PBO ” should ” have done the speech from the Residence.!
I remember when she stated that ” Hawaii ” was just to “exotic ” for the President and his family to vacation in and that they should have stayed in ” America “.”
I hope our President wore the right color socks or that will be criticized also.
Gawd…I dislike pundits.
