“It was an at times harrowingly emotional interview. It was also, in a small way, a landmark. The Mister Cee scandal is lurid tabloid fare, but the love and acceptance shown to Cee by Darden, who repeatedly asked Cee to withdraw his resignation, feels like a watershed moment for hip-hop culture, which has slowly been casting off its long-standing homophobia.”

It’s started already. Channel 4, WRC in D.C. was reporting about the First Lady’s water campaign, and they had a quote from some Doctor saying the benefits of drinking more water has never been proved. The President and FL can’t say ANYTHING without some JackAss disputing it.

When Sasha Issenberg’s The Victory Lab, an insider’s guide to the pivotal statistical concepts and methods behind the vaunted Obama data machine, first came out at the height of the presidential campaign, many on the right rejected it with an allergic ferocity. Top Romney digital operatives told me on a Boston visit last year that his geek squad was evenly matched technologically with their opponents’. (They weren’t, as the “ORCA” election night debacle proved.) In a typical dismissal, RedState.Com founder Ben Domenech mocked Issenberg as “perpetually amazed” by Obama and doubted that his campaign’s microtargeting would work.

One year later, after a period of mourning and introspection over how they could have been so blindsided — and egged on by told-ya-so GOP digital operatives — the Republican Party is trying to learn how to stop worrying and love the non-partisan truths of modern campaigning.

LP, the Republicans don’t get that all the micro targeting in the world won’t compensate for a lousy candidate. They have nothing to sell.

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend and I know that people have died from chugging too much water. The amount of water I drink is throughout the whole day. I drink a glass when I wake up and continue with that all day so I’m not flooding my system all at once.

I had an elderly aunt (87) who ended up in the hospital because she was severely dehydrated. She was acting as though she’d had a mental breakdown. Normally a quiet, sweet person, she was mean, nasty and fighting everybody who came near her, and didn’t recognize anybody. They had to hydrate her, but she kept ripping the IV’s out of her arm. Finally they sedated her and she went to sleep. In less than 2 days she was her old self again. All she needed was water.

I am sure we all know folks on both sides of the too much/too little - my friend was the opposite - someone told her to drink 6 litres/day - that’s about 1.6 gallons I think - way too much for her.

It actually ticks me off that these well paid journalists are forever asking the public to do their work for them! Sure this ‘send me your questions’ is a nice technique, but, good lord, use it sparingly. Now they all seem to want the listeners to do everything!

Or they pick out a controversial question or two that fits their storyline, so they can say this came from Susie Redneck or Johnny I-hate-everyone.

It bugs me because their line of questioning nearly always shows that they have an axe to grind, as opposed to them trying to clarify issues for citizens. Such a colossal waste of time for the President as well as for citizens who seek to be enlightened!

    OP-ED COLUMNIST
    That Threat Worked
    By NICHOLAS D. KRISTOF
    Published: September 11, 2025 155 Comments

For all you innumerable skeptics of President Obama’s calls for military strikes on Syria, consider this. For decades, Syria has refused to confirm that it has chemical weapons. Now, facing a limited strike, its position abruptly changed to: Oh! We do have them after all! And we want to sign the Chemical Weapons Convention! We want to show them to United Nations inspectors. In short, the mere flexing of military power worked — initially and tentatively. And while it seems that neither Congress nor the public has any appetite for cruise missile strikes on Syria, it will be critical to keep the military option alive in the coming weeks or Russia and Syria will play us like a yo-yo.

Frankly, I’m skeptical that a deal can be worked out in which Syria hands over its chemical weaponry, and President Obama may have exchanged a losing struggle with Congress with a Sisyphean struggle with Russia. But it’s not impossible. And even if Syria cheated and stalled and eventually handed over only half of its chemical arsenal and none of its biological arsenal, that would still be a huge win for global security.

So here’s a three-track strategy for Syria going forward:

    • Negotiate with Moscow on removal of Syrian chemical weapons and insist on conditions to ensure we’re not being played, including immediate disclosure to the United Nations of chemical weapons stockpiles, a binding Security Council resolution confirming the deal, a reference in the resolution to “serious consequences” for noncompliance, and immediate installation of camera monitors on at least a few locations.

    • Groundwork in Congress to authorize a limited missile strike if Syria does not comply, partly to retain leverage with Moscow.

    • Expansion of efforts to arm and support moderate Syrian rebels, accompanied by covert cyberwarfare on the Syrian regime, to try to change the momentum on the ground.

Puleez! Not that particular song, but I do remember Burl Ives and not just for his Christmas music. My Mom loved his voice. We had his album with The Times They Are A Changin’ on it. For a long time, I didn’t even know it was Bob Dylan’s, cuz I knew only Burl’s version.

Methinks you got your addiction to music from your Mom! My Mother liked Burl Ives a lot more than I did, but his songs were sure catchy, and once you got one in your head, it stuck.

Bob Dylan wrote about a gazillion songs and is connected to so many singers, it’s amazing. I was reminded recently that he wrote Mr. Tambourine Man, because my friend used to actually “hang out” with Bruce Langhorne, who inspired the song. She mostly remembers Bruce because he got her interested in … wait for it … science fiction!

KABUL, Afghanistan — Militants staged a suicide car bombing then engaged in a gunfight with security forces near the American consulate in the western Afghan city of Herat early Friday, officials said. An Afghan translator was killed, while several other people, including police, were wounded.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which underscored the perilous security situation in Afghanistan, where U.S.-led troops are reducing their presence ahead of a full withdrawal planned for next year. The insurgent strikes are no longer concentrated in the country’s south and east, but occur with troubling frequency in the north and west, which have been the more peaceful areas in years past.

A U.S. Embassy spokesman in Kabul declined immediate comment.

The attack began around 6 a.m. with the powerful explosion. The car bomber detonated his explosives around 60 meters (66 yards) away from the consulate compound, said Sayed Fazlullah Wahidi, the governor of Herat province. Other militants then began firing on security forces in the area.

Hey guys, I up later than usual, but I just got back from the bowling alley. A lady at my job convinced me to join her bowling league and I agreed to join. So if ya know me, then you’ll know I’m kinda anti - social, why in the world did I agree to do this? Figured it was better than sitting on my couch surfing the net & watching tv…meh.

So I just got back from my bowling excursion.

I hate to say it but I enjoyed myself.

To be honest, I only gonna give it a least one season and then I’m gonna reevaluate it. this is basically the first time I’ve bowled since high school, so almost 20 years at least 15. 2 of the team members bowl at least 2x a week. The other guy is a “newbie” but he just hasn’t bowled in a least a year. Everyone seems nice, but some are really competitive even though they say they’re not. So I need to up my game. I hate being the worse at anything. I am at least consistently the last…lol

So I’m the “newbie” and I HATE it. I can def get competitive and obsessed about it…ugh.

Oh and now my legs are killing me and my “bowling finger” is killing me.

Still, I got out of the house.
