You beat me. Congrats yardarm! PBO was on fire!
well congrats to you! I saw a new thread was up, but then I saw something shiny and forgot to actually comment.
Looks like the trip to the North Woods energized you.
All the time mate. It’s always good to come home from the red part of WI.

ED ‘CHESHIRE CAT’ HENRY ASKS JAY CARNEY A TRICK QUESTION ABOUT OBAMACARE
‘Will White House staff enroll in Obamacare?’
By Steve Benen
But assuming Henry is referring to exchange marketplaces, I get the impression, more than three years after the Affordable Care Act became law, Fox News’ White House correspondent is still struggling with the basics. Here was their back and forth;
Q: Would you enroll?
Q: It’s a simple question.
Q: Okay. So you are going to enroll?
Whether Ed Henry realizes this or not, there’s a reason the exchanges exist: they’re intended to provide options for those Americans who don’t currently have health care coverage and for small businesses who’d like to provide coverage for their employees. Americans who get insurance from their employers will continue to get their insurance from their employers.

A tad of JUSTICE? I am hoping so. This is FL.
A Florida appeals court is ordering a new trial for a woman sentenced to 20 years to prison after she fired a warning shot in a wall during a dispute with her husband.
The 1st District Court of Appeal ruled that a judge did not properly instruct the jury handling the case of Marissa Alexander.
Justice – I hope so, too! This was an actual travesty of justice. It needs to be corrected.

UT, you probably won’t be back on this post to read comments. But for the record, I wanted to thank you so much for highlighting President Obama’s speech on ACA. I just now came back from work and I am catching up with earlier posts. You perform such an invaluable service of keeping people like me informed.
Congrats on 1st Sailor!!
Thanks for the tweets, UT – really special that you do this!!!
As I and others anticipated, in comments we posted here and elsewhere, Iran is definitely going to push Israel to disclose and join the NPT. It’s way past time and, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander …. and for the security of humanity.
How is all this happening – well ….

You’re welcome Bob!
G’day mates and thanks. I’ll be startin’ me day with this noon time parable.
To those of you who are nit-pickers about the meaning of words:
there is a medical distinction between Guts and Balls.
We’ve all heard about people having Guts or Balls, but do you really
know the difference between them?
In an effort to keep you informed, here are the definitions:
GUTS – is arriving home late, after a night out with the guys, being
met by your wife with a broom, and having the Guts to ask, Are
you still cleaning, or are you flying somewhere?
BALLS – is coming home late after a night out with the guys,
smelling of perfume and beer, with lipstick on your collar, and
slapping your wife on the butt and having the Balls to say,
You’re next, Chubby.
I hope this clears up any confusion on the definitions.
Medically speaking, there is no difference in the outcome.
Both result in death.
Hand raised. Question.
Getting two bottle of gin for the totally teetotaler wifey unit as the coming home present and then drinking them all by yourself.
What does that bringeth? ……
Death? Ok, got it.
You are shameless!!!!
whaaat? It was a honest question.
Yeah, I know!!!
That’ll do it too.
And justifibly so! Good one Yardarm
I dunno about that, now!
omg. that made me snort.

hahahahaha…One of my favorite lines of his speech
And some people want to tell me that President Obama is naive and doesn’t know what’s going on! That line was absolutely perfect because it’s the TRUTH.
Thank You UT.
Your Tweets are not Only Legendary, they are extremely, informative. I didn’t see or hear the POTUS this morning and you have certainly provided the information in as usual, the most consumable fashion.
Thank you very much.
Thanks. You’re welcome.

She’s redoing the layouts, I think.
Yikes? Where Amk? I was, as LL suspected, fiddling about a little earlier, but tied up at the moment with worky stuff so had to put the fiddling on pause.

I better make that 4 bottle of gin for the wifey unit. Hope she appreciates my fine gesture.
You romantic, generous devil
I think your wifey unit and my wifey unit would have LOTS to discuss.
Let’s not that let that happen.
You’re still there?!? When do you get the hell out of there?

Thank yooooooou UT for the new post, you honey bunch!
You are welcome you bundle of Cheesy Puffness!
I really wouldn’t use that terminology to a woman. What were you thinking, UT?
Huh? Is this a joke? You do know Cheesy Puffness refers to Chips liking Cheesy Puffs right?
I do! I, as a woman who loves Cheesy Puffs, might not want to be called a ‘Bundle’ of Cheesy Puffiness. Just sayin’.
“Bundle’ and ‘cheese’ is a reminder of what cheesy puffs do to my voluminous middle. I need no such reminder. I prefer blissful ignorance in that regard.
Awwwww, that’s sweet
Arggghhhh, I seem to be a beat to slow. My “that’s sweet” should be under the photo of POTUS & Pete
O’Malley needs to keep his day job. Pro photog is not his gig.

See, I thought that – but was too nice to type it

Morning GGail! You need glasses, maybe?
Actually after I wrote my left-behind comment on this thread, I went away to dry my tears, so I’m actually just coming back. (sniff. sniff.)
Indeed I performed your request last night shortly after you made it, AND answered your reminder just before you signed off last night. If you have sent another email since then, it’s not showing in my mail.

My glasses are just fine….in my purse

Morning to you too vc
Well, at least they weren’t on your nose/forehead as mine are wont to be sometimes when I’m looking for them!

So you may have all forgotten that I do have my own blog. And you may have forgotten because I’ve criminally neglected it. But I have a new post up if you would all care to take a look: http://novelsinprogress.com/2013/09/26/father-son/
How nice – didn’t even realize you had your very own BLLog Is it listed here on TOD with some of the other great blogs? If not, would love Chips to add it in.
It’s for my non-political writing—essays, poetry. At one point I was posting chapters from my novel there, but I left that off.
Okay, cool. Will definitely take non-political breaks to renew my spirit by reading some of your poetry and essays
Ooooooh, will definitely head over there LL as soon as I get this worky thing done!
Thanks LL. Truth be told, I had forgotten. I went directly there just now and I’m so glad I did! I added my email so I will get future notifications. You are a gifted and talented writer LL.
Thank you, Gail. Now to get an agent and a publisher to agree with you!
LL, self publishing seems to be the new wave. And as for an Agent – you got us! We are the best publicity agents you could ever find! We are truly world-renowned.
Oh, I know self-publishing is a serious possibility. But I would love to see my physical books in a bookstore (while they still exist), and maybe the book reviewed in the NYT or Publisher’s Weekly. But I will have to talk to meta and see how she’s doing with her book sales.
I understand your desire LL. I would love to see your book in a bookstore window too – say at the Grove.
Do go read LL’s blog with his poetry. You will be VERY glad you did. In addition to being a perceptive, elegant political writer, he is a poet.

The constant moving of the goalposts is not lost on me. Every time this President gives a speech on ANY issue (not just Obamacare), and certain people can’t find anything to criticize about the speech, they subtly create a criticism by insinuating that the speech was/is the ONLY such that the President has given, and it was LONNNGGGGG overdue.

I am wondering if ACA will have a time period each year where people can sign up or switch carriers, or if it will be ongoing vs a one time chance? I read that this time will be from Oct. till March. I know Medicare has a Fall switch time period. Anyone know?
The period of time during which individuals who are eligible to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan can enroll in a plan in the Marketplace. For 2014, the Open Enrollment Period is October 1, 2013–March 31, 2014. For 2015 and later years, the Open Enrollment Period is October 15 to December 7 of the previous year. Individuals may also qualify for Special Enrollment Periods outside of Open Enrollment if they experience certain events.
A point made by a caller on Ed Schultz today: ALL insurance has an enrollment period. Determined differently by each employer, but a designated enrollment period.
“Obamacare won’t let you choose your doctor.” virtually ALL insurance limits you to networks from which you must choose a doctor. If you want unlimited access to any and all doctors, you pay for a higher level policy. This has been true of ALL health insurance plans for DECADES.
The “death panels” are in place right now – it’s called unregulated insurance. Where they look for loopholes to cancel your policy. “You had a headache in 1992? No more cancer treatment for you now!”
The alleged complaints about ACA have been true of insurance companies for decades. Except now they have to cover your illnesses, can’t put a cap on your insurance, etc.
As my best friend who is an HR VP said to me the other day – “Regulations would be unnecessary if each and every corporation did the right thing by the environment, their workers and safe products. If they can’t behave like decent citizens, they have to be forced to behave. That’s called regulation.”

I have to say that is a fantastic ad
I think this C-Span link is the full Georgetown speech from today. Let’s all pledge to bring it to the attention to at least one contact. That’s doable, right?.
Manchin is with the Republicans to delay Obamacare for 1 year but will vote with the Dems on the CR without it…
That guy is always trying to meddle in to waterdown Dem Views.
WVa is one of those poor states. With about 4M plus. Their poor are mostly Caucasians. Yet instead of being a Robert Byrd, he is a freaking quicksand…….
Not a problem as long as he votes the right way when it matters. Reid knows when votes are needed and when they’re not. It’s ok for him to give a pass to vulnerable Dems.
Someone need to tell Manchin he better listen to POTUS speech this morning, it will not be delay. So Manchin can take that to W.V. and shovel it.
My question to Manchin (a supposed Democrat) is – what’s the significance of waiting one year, when the plan is supposed to start enrolling people in a few days? could it be that they want to use the delay as a bludgeon for the 2014 elections? They’re afraid of how people will vote once they realize that the GOP lied to them, and spent millions taking 42 votes to kill their chances at affordable health care? Are they concerned at all about the people who will be diagnosed with terminal illnesses in the next 12 months who could have been saved if they’d had proper medical care during the time that the GOP (and Democrats like Manchin) are proposing to delay? Do they care at all that these are actually people’s lives they’re playing with? That they may be playing with someone’s remaining time to live? Their political games are nauseating.
The spectacle of the jackals carrying water for and negotiating on behalf of the GOP as it relates to shutdown/debt limit mess is infuriating. They keep asking stupid (but, what if, why) questions as if it is President Obama and the Democrats who are being unreasonable.

Liberals Turn on ‘Liberal Media’
Liberals say mainstream pundits are hewing too close to the establishment.
What started as a firestorm on Twitter, turned into an angry petition and by noon on Wednesday more than 1,000 progressives had called NBC’s Washington bureau to tell people just how mad they were at Chuck Todd.
What “liberal media”?
