Thomas Roberts and Marsha, Marsha, Marsha….
OMG, this is priceless. Bravo to Thomas Roberts for doing his job and pushing back.
Oh, I am so looking forward to watching that! Off I go.
And she had the nerve to tell Thomas that his questions and statements to her were inappropriate, just because he told the truth and confronted her with statements which she had made about shutting down the government.
For folk who claim to know the Constitution …..
Go ahead @SpeakerBoehner leave town & have #PBO send #USMarshals to return you to your JOB. cc @VP @NancyPelosi @Pfeiffer44 @TheJusticeDept— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) October 15, 2013
… they’re about to have Professor Obama give’um a pop quiz …
Bahahahahahahahahahaha…..Amen. Tell them Jesus. Tell them.
1) The House GOP Proposal Is Still Extortion
2) Dems to House GOP: The answer is No
I truly truly admire Jay Carney – he has to tolerate so much _____ !!! over and over again. And he keeps coming back to that podium. If it were me, I would have picked up a Picket Sign and protested outside the Press Room until all of the idiots were banned from entering and asking the same dumb questions over again in twenty different ways!
I watched for about 3 minutes when that stupid woman reporter kept asking about how PBO said no deals that tinkers with #ObamaCareand Jay kept explaining what PBO said. Then tunred to AJ.
Earlier AJ reported how Malawi president is starting his own #ObamaCare for his country mainly inspired by PBO.
Mexico is providing affordable health care for its citizens. Every other developed country ensures affordable healthcare for their citizens. Many developing countries provide affordable healthcare for their citizens.
I just don’t get it.
Someone should teach jesus some FF.
Good afternoon peeps.
Today is my day off, so just catching up on things.
Hope everybody has a good day

OMFG!! Now, not only is it hostage taking and ransom, but hit and run too!!!
Frankly, I hope they go all the way home and then PBO calls them back tonight and tells them to get their rears back by 9:00 a.m.on Wednesday. He should ask all Dem congress members to stay in town so that none of them will miss the recall.
Chuck Todd has really hit a nerve with me today. Saying the House deal is almost the same as the Senate. He really is fantastically stupid, isn’t he?

If anybody on TOD is on Social Security or SS Disability or depends on Medicare reimbursements, here’s my suggestion: Call your congressman or Boehner’s office and tell them that if their irresponsibility causes a breach of the debt ceiling AND the stopping of SS checks, you will send all bills that you can’t meet to the congressman. I just called my Congressman’s office and said that that was my plan and the guy got very nervous and said the Dent was “trying.” I told him that trying was NOT good enough. We want action and we want it now. This area of PA is fully loaded with seniors and they are playing with fire big time. Also mentioned that SS is not an entitlement or a handout, it’s an insurance program that I, for one, paid into for over 40 years of my working life and what was going on was tantamount to the theft of senior earnings. Told him three times I wanted that message delivered to the congressman.
Religious leaders are now walking the halls of Congress, singing Amazing Grace. That’ll look good in the history books, in the section marked The Demise of The Republican Party in 2013.
Let them go to church and leave governance to people who understand American democracy and government. And separation of church and state.
I think they are speaking out for the poor and ill at this point, which would be a good reminder to the Republicans that their Christian conservative smokescreen b.s. isn’t fooling anyone. We shall see.
Otherwise, I agree.
Oh, I misunderstood.
I hope I got the story right. In any event, no Republicans are going to have religious leaders thrown out of the halls of Congress, so I hope one or two of them got the message to quit attacking the least of these (most won’t, but maybe one or two).
These same people in the 1960….. their families were so sure that Popery was about to control the Fed Gov’t with the eventual election of JFK.
Little did we know that the Fundamentalists in the GOP are the main evil destructive Force.

Veterans! Paul Ryan & The Republican Party Plan To Kill Your Social Security, Medicare And Medicaid. Don't Listen To Their Lies Or Fox News— Chris Cook (@cwcook1000) October 15, 2013
Or MSNBC or CNN for that matter. Not much of a difference across the board.
Imo, CNN true, MSNBC not true. They may have a couple of who may challenge PBO and his policies, but MSNBC does not air blatant lies. That’s like emoprogs who say there’s no difference between PBO and Bush just because he didn’t come in sweeping all of Bush’s policies away, or prosecuting Cheney, or some such nonsense.
There’s a big difference in the coverage of PBO on MSNBC and FOX/CNN
Reporter to Carney: "Would WH delay Obamacare for a year if Republicans would delay heart attacks for a year?"— Roger Simon (@politicoroger) October 15, 2013
The person who asked that question had a heart attack at one time. That reporter also asked about his/her mom. She is worried about her SS. And she wanted to know what would happen to her and her SS benefit.
Sad not One asked about the UnConstitutionality of what these teabaggers are doing to our nation.
pathetic. The media is the one reason this insanity has infected government. And yet, not an ounce of shame.
Roger Simon is like the Shep Smith of Politico.
That’s perfect, LL.
I just found it and double-posted it before I read your reply. Well, it cannot be repeated too much. THIS is what Obamacare does. It is John Boehner and his merry band of sociopaths who are the real death panels.

Right there with you. Boehner and his vagabonds are somebody’s evil spawn, that’s for sure.
This is what real Americans were doing, while Republicans in Congress were trying to destroy your country.

I meant *our* country, but it’s your country, too!
Y’all should hear these people who call in to C-SPAN. One guy who claimed to be an Independent, said that Cruz or Gohmert would be a good choice to lead the “third party ticket”. I almost fell out of my chair! The idiot caller doesn’t know the difference between an Independent and a TPer.
Those good ole boys should not be allowed to place phone calls without supervision.
The TPers are now calling for a third party and no longer associate with the Republicans. They are so up in arms with McAdoodle, Boehner, Cantor, and anyone who’s not part of the 50 or so teanutbutters in the House. So he probably does consider himself independent, even though he’s only ever voted for a ‘Pub, no matter how big a RINO.
Polls that show independent views should be viewed skeptically because some are Teanuts, and some are Republicans who are too embarrassed to be associated with their party. They true independents have no where to go, they’re being infiltrated.
Cookemom, TPs should form a Third Party and be right up there with the Constitutionalist Party, the Right to Life Party or the always popular Connecticut for Lieberman party. Then the Republican Party can cleanse its soul and start again as a major national party with sound, sane principles (whatever they are). But for now they’ve adopted the loonies and they are well and truly stuck with them.
GGail. are you sure you should be listening to the C-Span wingnuts? Don’t forget your responsibility to your health!
How would you like to be President Obama, awarding a medal authorized by an Act of Congress on March 3, 1863? Mindblowing.

GENEVA (AP) — Declaring that Iran no longer wants to “walk in the dark” of international isolation, Iranian negotiators put forward what they called a potential breakthrough plan Tuesday at the long-stalled talks on easing fears that Tehran wants atomic arms.
Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the Iranian plan’s formal name was “An End to the Unnecessary Crisis and a Beginning for Fresh Horizons.” He described it as having many new ideas but added negotiators had agreed to keep the details confidential during the morning bargaining session.
“We think that the proposal we have made has the capacity to make a breakthrough,” he told reporters.
As incredible as this statement is coming from Iran –”an end to unnecessary crisis and a beginning for fresh horizons,” it would be downright jaw dropping if it ever came from Republicans. That’s how far we’ve gone into Coockooland in this country.
MEDIA CONVENIENTLY OVERLOOKING THE OBVIOUS (I’m looking at you Brianna Keliar, CNN)
The core argument that’s driving this whole crisis
BY GREG SARGENT
The answer to Appelbaum’s question above is Yes. The Senate GOP’s demands are legitimate, because they are being made in negotiations which are not occurring in a context where Republicans are presuming the threat of disaster gives them unilateral leverage. The Senate talks accept as a given that default won’t happen and are centered on horsetrading within that context. The House GOP’s demands are extortionate, because they continue to be premised on the idea — again, one rooted in genuine views House Republicans hold about acceptable governing norms – that Dems should fork over unilateral concessions on Obamacare, because if they don’t, economic disaster will be the consequences.
You don’t need to side with one or the other camp in order to acknowledge the basic contours of this argument, or of this overall situation.
THIS is an explanation I have been looking for, because I have not seen the difference, except degree, between the Senate and the House. This makes a critical distinction that I had not read, or had not fully grasped. The Senate agrees to opening the gov’t, raising the debt ceiling, and the ‘negotiation’ is, in essence, after that fact and part of the budget ‘conference’.
I thought of you as soon as I read this earlier, because I noticed you had shared your concern about this very thing. It’s nice you have found a rational answer, 57F.
I went back to see if indeed I was being dense; but I couldn’t find reference to the Senate deal that made this clear – the government would open, the debt ceiling would be raised, and this was the beginning of negotiations. If indeed that is the case, then the distinction is clear: the Senate leadership is prepared to behave like responsible adults and the tantrum-throwing sociopaths in the House are still expecting to get ice cream for breaking the furniture.
That about it?
IMO there is nothing dense about trying to understand (for yourself) what is really going on. I only thought of you on reading the explanation above because i saw your comment elsewhere, trying to clarify this for yourself. I often don’t get, or miss, things myself because my knowledge of GOP behaviour is restricted. Sometimes what they get away with makes absolutely no logical sense to me!
Greg Sargent’s post is perfect. I’ve clarified some points here and tweeted the hell out of it. Then I thought, maybe Reid should have been clearer about this distinction. But then I thought, the rabid sociopaths might not catch on that quick and maybe we can get this thing through. Well they may be rabid. And they certainly are sociopaths. But they have a keen sense of when their insane leverage is being taken from them.
It comes down to what it has come down to for the last month: is John Boehner capable of caring more about the country than his Midas-laden offices?
My take on this is that Boehner is incapable in several ways, but time will soon tell.
I missed this, earlier … “We want smaller government … but where’s the government help I need, here at the ranch?”

They should look in their cow manure!
This happened a couple weeks ago and hit parts of eastern WY too. 75,000 cattle and horses died. I mentioned something about getting the govt you voted for on a FB page a got hammered by so-called friends. They’re not stupid, but I don’t know why they hate govt, this govt. My husband and I wonder all the time about how we see things so differently than those we grew up with and those we live around. Do we have a gene or something? Is it our private well-water? I’m glad we have it whatever it is. But it is heartbreaking to know the cattle never had a chance. The ranchers were not prepared for an early storm which I think is neglect. You never know what Mother Nature through your way. Our yard was a major mess, large trees are half gone, but it’s not our livelihood.
The Media is to Blame 1001%.
This is what happens when Accurate information are denied and dismissed. Hey Chuck Todd, Candy Crowley, etc are you all proud of yourselves?
The latest findings from Pew Research Center showed that while a slight majority of all Americans — 51 percent — believe that it is “absolutely essential” for Congress to raise the debt limit before the Thursday deadline, 69 percent of tea partiers said the U.S. “can go past the deadline…without major economic problems.”
Thirty-six percent of all Americans believe that the U.S. can safely go past the deadline, while just 23 percent of the tea party said it’s essential to raise the debt ceiling. An overwhelming majority of 67 percent of Democrats called raising the debt ceiling essential, while 52 percent of Republicans said that the deadline could pass without triggering economic problems.
I couldn’t agree more. They were responsible in part for Iraq war too.
Nena, as usual people are misinformed and essentially ignorant about how government works and what the debt ceiling actually means. BUT, NO branch of the US government should operate by polls. We have a representative democracy where we elect people who are supposedly charged to work in our best interests. The House of Representatives is working against our self interest. Plus people responding to this poll were not told that breaching the debt ceiling means NO Social Security, disability, or veteran’s checks. They are responding to questions without the information that even the lowest staff member on the Hill has at his/her disposal.

Good news, OSG! Accompanied, I feel sure, by good feelings that you will not go bankrupt because affordable healthcare is accepted without a fuss where you live. Welcome back!

The House GOP Congressional staffers need to walk out.
Some of them make as little at 18 k and now their own bosses want them to not receive the employer contribution to their healthcare .
So Linda, as I listen to this unfold, we are talking about the regular employer contribution that the Republicans have re-named ‘subsidy’ in order to make ACA look bad? Am I following this correctly?
Are they saying that the employer – the Federal effing government – shouldn’t pay a portion of their health care premium?
Are they that awful?
They are that awful. But that provision won’t stick. The Senate will strip it and the other “poison pills” and send it back to them tomorrow for an up or down vote. Then we’ll find out if Boehner is out to destroy the economy or not.
It is breathtaking that they can take the regular employer contribution to health insurance and call it an “Obamacare subsidy”. They are, if nothing else, shrewd messagers.
